Hi 3DCG. Im having issues with rigging my model. I'm trying to paint with the weight paint tool, but it's really annoying because the mesh is complicated. My question is if there's another way to select the mesh and bind it to bones. And i know the automatic way but it doesn't work for some reason. My preffered method would just be to select faces for binding. I've been searching for 15 minutes now for a solution but i can't find anything.
>>504348 Check out the vertex groups. Each of the vertex groups in your object corresponds to one of the bones in your armature. You can select faces and assign them to a group (=bind them to a bone) with a certain weight. Very useful for rigging machines since you just select a part and assign it with weight "1" to your group.
So I blocked out a scene from some sketch I found on pinterest. Looking to do relatively low poly / hand painted environment. I mainly do animation but I wanted to give this a shot since I've been told by a few people that i'm good at texturing so I want to give this little environment a shot.
What do you guys think? How could I improve what I have so far?
ps. im a shit modeler pls dont shit on me too hard.
shit has built in sculpting tools now?!!! it's that time of night where i think "maybe I will start a blog about how I stopped pirating software and became a true opensourcer" and then i realized how dumb that sounds and also that I would have to use GIMP and that's not happening.
>>504224 >Form follows function. Never add crap just to add it, that you don't even understand.
How ironic given that the falcon is covered in kit-bashed greebles. The basic idea of which is to keep adding random crap until it fills a surface. There is no function for form to follow, because the ship can't really fly.
Op, read up on kit bashing and then create your own custom assortment of greeble meshes used for detailing such surfaces.
Hello there. I'm a 15 years old Unity indie game dev who's been learning how to make games for a while now. I'm currently making a game and it's turning out pretty good but I really ned someone to take on the "artistic" part. I know a bit od 3d modeling and texturing but I can't do it all. If you want to be a game dev and make a team please tell me, I'd be more than happy to team up with someone.
