>>509791 add more detail to the bridge and maybe try to get it to look like there are individual planks I don't use cinema 4d so I couldn't tell you how to do it but looks pretty good so far, I'd be interested in seeing an update
Hey /3/ im not entirely sure where to post this so if im posting in the wrong area please tell me where i should post this but i was wondering if any of you can help me out. I have been looking into Lil ugly mane's discography and listening to everything and this album cover intrigued me the most > Pic related So i have been trying to figure out how he made the text look like that and everything. I have guessed he took a lot of inspiration from Pen and pixel http://penandpixel.com/ but i just wanted to know what program lil ugly mane and pen and pixel use to do this. Thanks /3/
So, i´ve been working on trying to create realistic ice cubes just because i wanted to, i´ve found only 1 tutorial on it and it wasn´t even a proper tutorial, rather a overview of the guy doing the ice cube on Blender.
So after many days of trial and error, i´ve god this result, and to be fair, it doesn´t look nearly as good as i´ve seen on Google Images, so i want to take a few suggestions on how could i improve on it.
Just remember it isn´t a game or animation asset, im not looking for low poly, and i certainly do not care about render times, i just want... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
What are some good methods for creating a base to start texturing on? I already know how to get different maps (I use XNormal personally), but I want to know what kinds of maps I should be using and composting to get a good base for starting my textures.
Hello! A friend and I are making a 3D project for our exam. I found a c4d model of a glass bowl on turbosquid, which we like to implement. However we only have access to maya. Does anyone know how we can convert the file to ma or obj? pic related
Is Blender just a meme? I am not a professional 3D modeler, just getting into it and I thought Blender would be a good way to learn but it seempractises like everyone here shuts you down for using it. If so, what's good to learn/ on then?
I personally like 3ds Max for creating models, and Blender for animating them. Blender has very simple bone and animation systems, but when it comes to modelling, everything seems hidden under a ton of menus.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9u4Z5wYkkk I had a uni assignment to make a ~1min clip with 3D models. So I created this clip, where guy is supposed to be sleeping cuz he overdosed the bong and he's hallucinating Hitler celebrating his b-day. Then the guy wakes up and prolly decides to never use narcotics again. (that guy is not animated, because my colleague was a dickbag and didn't do shit for the project). There're also rare pepes there.
>>509681 Everything is pathetic. When I went to 3d school 5 years ago I was taught by someone who had actually accomplished something in animation. Everything you animated had to be approved by him before you did anything in the computer and then storyboarded first. This "thing" you made is so pathetic I assume your school is really really bad. Do something worthwhile with your life pls
I make game maps for tabletop games, 2D things in Photoshop. But I do use a ton of textures, including lots of stuff I get with the various depth, normal, spec, etc. maps for 3D rendering.
I want to make my work better, but I have no idea how to just load up the textures with their maps and output an image that, instead of being flat, actually reads with all the detail and stuff from the maps (pic related).
Is this simple to do with some rendering software, or would it take a bunch of time to output these? I have no familiarity with this stuff.
Its simple if you have maps. Loading them in an 3d programm takes a couple of seconds/minutes at most. To set them up properly you need to do some steps and most probably you need some light to shine on your textures, but the overall process is straightforward and easy to learn (depending on the software). Download Blender for example and learn a simple texture/light/render setup and you're good to go.
>i only tried cryengine once a while back and it took me 4 days and the help of like 7 people single animation into the game...
Yeah, Cryengine's import and export system is pretty cancerous, but no where near as bad as Source.
Anyways, UE4 has better shading and lighting systems, and can look even better if you want to bake light maps and shit. Compare the best CryEngine user: 18T220 to the best UE4 user: Koolala And CryEngine looks like shit in comparison,... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
3ds skill level- Novice to competent (about 2-3 months of studying at uni doing vfx and animation)
Hey currently working on 3ds max and i have managed to weight and animate one of the wings of my model. i was wandering is their a way to mirror or copy and paste the animation over to the other wing (i know i can mirror the weighting) but i really dont want to try and animate the other wing by hand if possible.
>>509630 I don't think mirroring the animation is a standard CAT feature, but there has to be some script that allows you to do that. Check "cat mirror animation" on scripspot. Also the control objects probably have symetrical alignments, which would allow you to animate both sides at the same time by selecting both control objects next time
