>>509141 Whats the difference between Maya and 3DSMax besides the interface? I don't get how two programs so similar work side by side. When Autodesk bought 3DSMax I thought they would just absorb it into Maya...
Hello! I'm new to Zbrush and 3D in general, I'm looking for a group to join where we I can learn more about 3D and maybe share ideas and collabs. I like Anime and Video game type stuff, mainly character creation.
It would be nice to make some friends in the 3D world, thanks!
>>509080 Also, I don't know which key I pressed to do this, but my "edit mesh" and "mesh tools" have suddenly disappeared from the top menus. It's still there in the spacebar menus, just not on the top ones.
Oh the windows are tricky, they can open and close and even multiply like browser windows, I recommend you look for some videos on youtube. Look for a tiny scrolling menu that lets you switch modes, It has a little black arrow I think
Don't know if you're still here but turn force 2-sided textures on in rendering settings and make the lights render raytraced shadows. Even if you ultimately use neither it might troubleshoot your problem.
Is there any way in Maya or 3dsmax where a Vector Displacement map can be used to create editable geometry? I'm not talking about having it appear in a mental ray or vray render but being used in much the same way as the standard Displacement modifier in max where the effect can be applied to a mesh and converted to workable geometry.
>>509017 >and filling the gap with quads/tris would just add more shit.
It would not, a N-gon already consists of triangles. Just that the software decided where to put them instead of yourself.
Same as a quad existing of 2 triangles. Do not confuse face-count and tri-count. While polycount technically means face-count, what everyone means by it is the number of triangles on a mesh. The lines you see on a editable object is called isolines and it's there just for your convenience as a human editor. Your hardware still process the mesh as the collection of triangles it really is.
>>509017 For maximum low poly (as in, cellphone games and deliberate pieces of lowpoly art) you should model triangles, for everything else you should quad (which you can go back and design a low poly triangle model from)
Read and understand >>509045's post because it's very good, it's all about the triangles
Working on a project for school. Have to write my name on a brick wall using a flamethrower, essentially charring my name onto the wall. I'm having trouble figuring out how exactly to go about the charring. Making it look like it's actually being written with the flamethrower.
Anyone here used turbosquid to sell models? I know someone who is poor and wants to sell some models on turbosquid to make money. This person might (and this is only a might) be using a torrented version of Zbrush and Max. Can he still sell models? What are the odds the police will show up and check that he has legit programs? Remember this is just a hypothetical situation here
>>508973 impossible to sell without a legit license, the poliece have trackers on turbosquid that checks the key for every upload. you ( or as you say, your "friend" ) will need to invest in a license to sell anything. or go to jail, your choice
Unless your drawing skills are kindergarten-tier I'd jump straight into digital sculpting. They are complementary skills, sculpting helps understand form and vice versa a talented 2d artist can pick up a sculpting program in a few afternoons and produce AAA work.
I'm new to this board and 3D modelling in general, so forgive me if this question is too dumb
I feel stupid as hell for asking, but I'm starting to learn Zbrush and I accidentaly hit ctrl+F and it completly screwed up what I was doing... now my brush is creating multiple copies of what I am working on (my "tool"?), and it is like I'm stuck in a creating mode instead of editing/modeling as I'd like
I can't find out how to leave this mode. The brushes and alphas are locked. I've read that ctrl+F fills the canvas... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Ctrl N to get rid of all the nonsense in pixol mode then just click and drag on the canvas to create your model again. After that just hit the edit button on the top left of the screen. This is all from memory so hopefully that helps.
a /fa/ggot here. I need a tool to make / generate 3D human bodies based on real-life measurements for digital garment construction (Clo3D, MD). Is there a tool for this? I've been searching for days without luck.
If not, is there a way to rip / download the models generated by sites like BodyVisualizer.com?
SCI-FI animated short film "EMPSILLNES" by Jakub Grygier. See What one person can do at home in 4 years on single computer!
Empsillnes is a short animated film about survivor on destroyed spaceship who looks forward to be rescued and return home. He does not know that the world he remembers has changed forever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-Kg8NCR6Ks
The story was boring, the animation was poor, and holy fucking christ what is up with the color? Jesus, man. I understand, you're trying to set the tone but do you have to dull the ENTIRE short with fucking blue and brown?
Not even for the action scene is it changed to something different. You link blue and action together? >>508918 I think this nigger is right, he might actually be color blind.
