THE EAGLE HAS LANDED
THE EAGLE HAS LANDED
If anyone is at a loose end and would like to help out, there's a couple of things that you can do.
1. Just upload some more manga that we don't have yet.
2. Try to finish off a series that is missing files. Bringing ongoing series up-to-date would be fantastic.
3. Update the spreadsheet with more information. It's located here:
To upload you can download FileZilla and connect to the host ftp.madokami.com
There's no username or password needed.
I'm not sure if people are checking out request folder, but I hope someone has Erementar Gerad v01-02 scanlated by Eval Powar. Their site is dead, it's banned on baka, not uploaded at AB and I'm yet to see the seeder on torrent at nyaa.
Easier to download one file than hundreds.
No worries, if you want you can zip the files and reupload them.
You'll have to move those folders/files to the Admin Cleanup folder first though so they can be deleted since we don't have delete permissions.
>read on windows image viewer
>I didn't realise people like them zipped up
>windows image viewer
>windows image viewer
I don't hear people talking about image viewers on here so I thought it was fine but I got a new one called Mangameeya7
It can view archived files so I guess I won't need to unzip them anymore
I remember Berserk being the first Manga I ever downloaded
I even got it from Nyaa because I didn't know any better
Any one else like me?
Different anon here, I use Japanzai's Jreader. Got a list of good ones or at least with useful features? Tried using one but kept randomly crashing on file load, name was just "Mangareader". Turns out it wasn't updated in years.
Looks like they skipped over looking for peripheral signs of Thyroid dysfunction. Poor show.
Although was not aware there was a Berry's sign.
But back to the topic, is there any kind of format you need to have when uploading shit to these? Because I usually unpack my archives, label the volumes as [title] - [volume#] - [volume title (if I know it)] and chapters as [chapter#] - [chapter title]. If I rar'd what I have that isn't up and upload it in that format would people be pissed off.
Just a note, read and learn its grammar correctly if you're going to use it. We've already had people who didn't know how to use it yesterday.
Files are more important than naming schemes.
As long as it's clear, no one will care.
If you want to put in the extra effort, use https://gist.github.com/Daiz-/bb8424cfedd0f05b7386
Volume or (mag) is mandatory so you're actually not using it right.
Use whatever you want, it's not like it's important if it's consistent. I recommend to organize your files beforehand, though.
The scanlators don't always list the vol, I don't see why it should be mandatory when all the chapters are numbered anyways. Mangaupdates shows the number of volumes but not the chapters which belong to them (would have been useful though).
I think we should make a pastebin.
>The scanlators don't always list the vol, I don't see why it should be mandatory
Because Daiz-sama said so.
It's stupid idea anyway, after volume is done, most people drop chapter numbers altogether and list only volume when archiving. You have ToC for the rest.
Which you will know as soon as you open the archive. You usually will have no choice anyway since most manga have only one version released.
>>110061877 is living proof that the scheme is not as easy as somebody want us to believe.
Uploaded Momoiro Meloik as was requested.
It's as easy as reading it while checking your filename. If everything is there, copy, paste, and change the numbers. Then, do it again for any new manga until you're so familiar with it that you don't need it anymore.
Is there really any release like that? And does it even matter? The quality of pages will either be worse (you will know it's mag) or same (it doesn't matter).
>If everything is there, copy, paste, and change the numbers.
The problem comes from irregularities. More that one extra? Extra not on the end? Unnumbered chapters? More than x volumes, more than x chapters? Each of it has a rule, do you know about them?
Take a look at Yotsubato volume 10 on the FTP server for example. It matters because tank releases can have redraws etc, not just better scan quality.
Mangatraders I guess, as we don't have an efficient method of distributing manga at the moment, and sadpanda/fakku is ok for doujins.
Of course, I'm not the admin though, so it's up to you.
If you've got it and it's not on the FTP, feel free to upload it. The more files the better.
I just linked in my sadpanda collection 'cause I already had them on the server. I guess they're there if anyone wants them.
If you want to upload any (whatever you like, I'm not fussed) then use the sadpanda/!Upload folder.
>If you've got it and it's not on the FTP, feel free to upload it. The more files the better.
My first attempt got to 55% before getting shanked by the FTP's webmaster as he temporarily set up a password and killed everybody's connection, the second time around my mains' breaker tripped while the download managed to crawl up to 65%, but the third time was the charm and it completed in about 18 hours. The whole ordeal lasted about two days and a half.
>tfw you can't keep up with all the manga you're reading without MT watchlists
Shit, shit. What do I do guise?
The naming scheme wasn't developed by Daiz. He's just the guy actively pushing for it/spear heading it.
The scheme itself was actually started by a bunch of anons.
>inb4 they're all Daiz samefagging without a trip
>tfw I fucked up downloading the 6th volume of Beet
Someone better have it.
Oh shit I didn't mean to reupload Akagi. Sorry.
So my manga collection isn't very large, but I do have some stuff. I have volumes 1-5 of Biomega, v1 -17 of Dorohedoro, and v1-27 of Vagabond. Should I just start uplaoding to the FTP or what?
Also fuck you, I ain't renaming shit.
How do I into sadpanda? And nice speed. Then I realized I won't read it anytime soon anyway and canceled the download.
You know, I think I might actually buy Berserk
Like, in actual paper and stuff.
That'll support IdOLM@SterPROxXx right?
Are the official english translations up to date?
http://manga.madokami.com/Manga/!Ongoing/Peephole/ <-- Someone tell me how there is till c32 here when mangabox itself is on c30? --> https://www.mangabox.me/reader/Peephole/
Hope this isn't some troll work...
Pretty sure I uploaded some stuff in the wrong place.
At least it's on the server now though.
Care to share? And what's the current status of ComicWalker ripping? In last thread months ago someone managed to decode images and that's where it ended, as I remember, but I'm not up to date about it.
Volumes 1-25 are from the mediafire anon and in very good quality, the rest is by a bunch of other groups and the last few volumes are in ridiculous resolution and uncleaned, so the filesize gets up to about 500MB per volume
I have a few raws and some other things sitting around in my computer, but before uploading, I have two questions.
Do I use the same naming scheme for raws?
Do I use (mag) for web rips, or do I use (web)?
well, only a very very small fraction of the manga is banned in bakabt.
Sure, uploading in bakabt can be a pain, but it is an archival site, so the process is slow to maintain quality. It is really well seeded too...
I can rip it, but distributing something anyone else can reasonably use is, is pretty much out of the question.
Who is the lucky fucker getting all this shit dumped on their server? And can they even stand up to the bandwidth up and down over the next few months? Poor bastards bills will be a few hundred at least.
Rips the images with a userscript. Descrambles the image with something I hacked together in C. The C is probably overkill since it descrambles the image without losing any quality. I could probably hack together something to just save the png which is like 2 or 3 times bigger.
I modified the viewer.js to just dump the contents of the canvas to img elements in the document, from there you can save them out.
Interesting, someone wrote something in Ruby that uses ImageMagick? I see. It looks like it uses default recompression. I'd rather just use png than lose quality for no reason like that.
I commented it out and just got pissed that I couldn't get the jpeg. Then I fixed that. They've since turned off decryption of their images, so a bunch of work I did earlier matters doesn't really matter anymore.
I basically ripped apart a version of jpegtran. This would probably help absolutely no one, unless they really wanted the original quality images.
You're a cool guy server anon.
I have a question though, how did you get this rig of yours set up?
I mean the server, the domain and the ins and outs?
Can this thing get dmca'd?
I want to set something similar for anime.
>I want to set something similar for anime.
Not him, and I'm no expert, but I can tell you a few things. First, anime gets dmca'd much more often than manga. Second, anime is heavier than anime. A lot more. And a page like that would get a lot of downloads. The badnwidth needed for something like that would be expensive as fuck (unless you made it as something for personal use, with only you and a few friends to use). In other words, it's not a good idea.
It may be the single worst way to rip, but it works. It used to use a different method, but they appear to have blocked that.
Server's from soyoustart.com (I got the £40, 32GB version), domain I've had for quite a while.
>Can this thing get dmca'd?
If anyone cares enough, I don't see that happening though.
This, torrents are more suitable (and used) for anime.
Yes, but be sure to do it right. Be sure to read daiz's filename scheme, and even if you don't follow it to the t (it would be better if you did), keep in mind what it says and be consistent with your filenames.
Yeah, I noticed after I clicked submit, but you get what I meant.
>I commented it out and just got pissed that I couldn't get the jpeg
Shouldn't matter though, if you have to de-scramble them, you're going to either have to use PNG, or loose more quality with recompressing with JPG.
To elaborate: Comic Walker images appeared to be designed specifically to losslessly scramble them in the first place with their MCU on the right boundaries. It's not really surprising that no one believed me when I originally found out this detail. No one even uses the feature.
>Server's from soyoustart.com (I got the £40, 32GB version), domain I've had for quite a while.
I see then what? Do I get a physical server in my home or just rent it from them?
Excuse my ignorance, I've only gotten to this after MT got hacked.
You can't get a server shipped to your house, anon. You rent it on site, otherwise you wouldn't have that bandwidth, and you pay each month. In this case, that server has 4Ts of space, and 250mbps of bandwidth (that must be shared among all the users connected to it). You can search various guides on how to build webpages and ftps on google, and most of them would include what to do if you have a server of your own.
Can you upload volume 28-35 separately?
Dr. Anons scans are fine for 1-27, but the rest are done by random people as mentioned in the thread.
Is that version cleaned, cropped and optimized? Or is it the exact same as the current Bakabt Torrent?
I think someone answered this in another thread but i don't remember what was the answer.
Using Daiz's naming scheme what format should i use for a volume that contains releases by 2 different groups?
You could use [Various] or [Group1 & Group2].
There's also sorting considerations involved. I'd prefer if (mag) wasn't a necessity, but sadly it is in order to ensure proper sorting.
For the time being, I would recommend listing both group names. [Various] is more workable after there are rules defined for individual page filenames. I added a "to be done" section about that to the document.
There's also a new (mix) definition for archives that mix magazine and tankoubon pages, eg. a volume repack of magazine scans with cover / extra scans included from a tank.
There's also something I'd like to ask your opinions on - some people were proposing adding a separate definition for web sourced material, ie. (web) or (net) or such. Do you think this would be a good idea, or should it just be all grouped together under (mag)?
Well, if you had three versions of the same thing, the options would sort like this:
>Manga - c001 (mag)
>Manga - c001 (net)
>Manga - c001 (v01)
>Manga - c001 (mag)
>Manga - c001 (v01)
>Manga - c001 (web)
Which one you prefer comes pretty much down to pure opinion - other than that there would be no issues whatsoever with it, since both "net" and web sort before "x" (which is the important part when it comes to overall sorting).
Was there ever a solution for what to do when a volume begins with a decimal chapter number? For example Ai-Ren's volume 4 ends with chapter 35 and volume 5 begins with chapter 35.5.
Also, if you look at the examples in the manga naming scheme, the "Unnumbered Initial Chapters" actually originates from Berserk chapter numbers, so technically the archive range should be 001-c315, not c000-c315.
Sadly, I don't think there is really any other solution than to just attach "front" specials like that to the previous chapter number, so you'd have something like this:
>Manga - c035 (v04)
>Manga - c035 x1 (v05)
>Manga - c036 (v05)
And so on.
As one single big archive? Hell it isn't. There's also the fact that not everyone has god tier internet and some may not want to leave their computer running overnight to download etc.
Yeah. I just realized I have most of the Antique Bakery doujinshi chapters saved and I don't know if it'd be a bad idea to upload them, they're kind of old. And some of Asumiko Nakamura's stuff that's been translated on sites that require log-ins.
I also have some random unfinished scans that are from ancient freewebs/personal translation sites, like the first chapter of Sci-Fi Harry.
And with volume by volume it would be:
>have all the volumes up to date without hunting down various collections on various websites
The difference is that they can download it little by little if they want, or if they end up not liking it, they can drop it after the first volume alone.
>sekrit club scanlators
Like what though? Like >>110097076 said, Guyver's the only one I know of. As far as I'm aware, it's usually the fujoshi stuffs.
Putting an ongoing series in one archive is retarded. Never mind you updating it for new chapters/volumes, I don't want to download everything over again every time it's updated.
Okay, that's what I wanted to do so it works out.
It is the bbt torrent, a tad old though, it is missing v36 and v37. There is a missing page in v29.
(on the plus side though the pngs take slightly less space on your hard drive because they have been optimized)
So you are better of downloading the torrent, as always.
The files came from the bakabt torrent. Sure the pngs have been optimized and they have been repacked.
Trust me I can see my own handywork
That doesnt mean that it literally IS the bbt torrent you have to realize this?!
Same files = same files no matter the source.
A movie from DDL, XDCC or Torrent who is the exact same file is the same file no matter where you get it from, get it?
When your zip is identical to bbt torrent, you can say its the bbt torrent!
I really hate asking more questions but when uploading is there a certain folder I should be dumping my files into? Basically is someone going to make series folders for them after/move them into the correct archive lists.
I'll humor you some more, I know the real nick of dr. anon. I also know where he got said releases he based his work on. Guess which site that is? (ill give you a hint, it ends with akabt.me)
Inside the appropriate folder (ongoing, completed, raw, or whatever), it would be the best if you made a folder for the series, and then dumped your files there. It should take you less than 5 seconds, and would help keeping everything organized.
Also, someone said not to use the Short Manga one.
Don't be stupid. Obviously, it should follow the rules under Name of Manga, for consistency reasons, and [Author1&Author2&...] as optional, just in case there's more than one manga with the same name.
Not yet, but it's being worked on.
It does matter. If we have a proper filename scheme for the images too, it will make all kinds of repacking very easy and information-wise lossless.
I know you are well-meaning but please stop, at this point you'll only get ridiculed to no end and nobody will use your standard. Folder/zip name unification was very much needed, this is not.
This is so silly.
1) google 'kickthekitty berserk', click first link.
2) ctrl +f write 'vol 28-30' and click enter.
You can clearly see that kickthekitty saying he is uploading a MIRROR of the bakabt torrent...
v26-35 in your torrent are/where part of the bakabt torrent. Sure, some of the files where released at the same time at kickthekittys site, because he uploaded the scans used.
But your specific example v29 originated from Bakabt and where only posted as a mirror at kickthekitty after he told people to download the bakabt torrent. The same is true for a lot of other volumes in your zip.
The main exception to this is v01-25, which where done by dr anon. He posted them at mediafire first. (on a sidenote he used files from the bakabt torrent to create those releases and gave bakabt user the blessing to include them in the torrent).
Also, the images in your zip all look the same as the old bakabt torrent, nothing removed, nothing changed. except repack and optimized pngs.
Well fuckin' A. This'll keep me busy for a couple of days.
SEE, EVERYBODY? SOMEBODY APPRECIATES MY WORK
The best things to upload are those on the Do Not Upload lists of the former Mangatraders site. Those will be the titles that other people have the least of. Besides, if the manga title is already at BakaBT, the bandwidth of the FTP site is best saved for use with DNU type titles. Just download from BakaBT instead.
One Piece manga
Detective Conan manga
Spice & Wolf light novels
I'm uploading Mudazumo Naki Kaikaku because it's one of my favorite series.
If anyone else has an animebytes account, you can try finding some series there to upload that aren't bound to anyone's "do not upload" list.
If MTs' archive is 1.7TB, then I don't see how do you expect us to surpass that, and fill 2TB.
I just did, but I just feel so ashamed that we had someone so childish in this thread that I had to comment on it.
>If MTs' archive is 1.7TB, then I don't see how do you expect us to surpass that, and fill 2TB.
Holy shit dude...
These threads have been going for a couple of days now. If 20 anons would upload their manga folders on 50gb we would have 50% of the space used already.
And trust me, there have been more than 20 anons here over these couple of days.
You get it?
Just look at the fucking sadpanda folder.
How big do you think that one is? 20MB?
If 20 anons uploaded their 50gb folders, we would have a lot of duplicates, triplicates, and even pentaplicates.
And about the sadpanda folder, yeah, I agree, but it doesn't help that I'm against backing up sadpanda here, specially when we don't have a manga solution ready yet. Sadpanda is a great place, and even though I don't think it's a good idea to have all your eggs in the same basket, we don't have any basket for the manga eggs.
Agreed. It's better to focus our resources on manga first. It's the more important one right now. Sad panda back ups can come later once we are actually done with sorting the manga.
Yes, and therefore, once the first anon uploads his 50GB folder, the next one would have to upload only half of it, since everything else is already there, and the third, only 12.5, and so on, meaning five anons with a 50GB folder each would not even reach 100GB with my estimate (that is obviously baseless, but you get the idea).
Download efs: http://www.exactfile.com/downloads/
Open cmd, type
And it'll spit out a exactfile.md5 in thet directory
Upload that file along with the manga.
Is it too much to ask for a lighthearted romance comedy that isn't haremshit or full of forced melodrama? I mean holy shit it's like every time I search a reader site and filter out the drama and harem tags all I'm left with in terms of romance is HAREM HAREM HAREM HAREM HAREM ECCHI HAREM ECCHI HAREM SPORTS HAREM ECCHI HAREM HAREM HAREM, etc. and everything is less than 30 chapters long.
