Anime has covered a lot over the years. We've seen almost everything from homocidal space nazis to cute girls talking about tea.
So. What have you never seen in anime that you'd like to see?
It can be a character archetype, theme or even just a minor feature of the show.
I'd like to see more psychological/horror just as a whole. I also like the whole theme of assassins and cute grills doing cute grill things, though akame ga kill just isn't enough for me.
higurashi is my favorite anime, because the psychological horror type genre is my favorite and higurashi does it so right. id like to see more well thought out horror anime.
>tfw its never going to happen
i would like to see more anime about badass girls who aren't made into moe blobs, played with excessively for fanservice, or fighting over some guy, i suppose.
i'm looking for more stuff that's kind of ga rei zero-esque
A great Berserk adaption
I personally would love to see a show where the VA can at least speak the other language they're trying to speak and not get engrish type shit.
it shouldn't take a good VA long to at least get the line they're trying to speak down, even if they have no idea what it means.
I'd watch that. are we talking current coal miners or the older ones from the pre 1950s?
also more anime about girls playing sports who aren't moe blobs. it should also not be romance-based in any shape or form. like haikyuu but with girls.
>if it doesn't just stereotype the fuck out of everything
>Not wanting a maple syrup addicted character
>Not wanting a character with moose antler hair
>Not wanting the school sports festival to be just hockey
>haikyuu spin-off about the girls' team
i would pay money for this
I was thinking about Mysterious Girlfriend X last night, and I wondered what the series would have been like if the protagonist was initially rejected by the girl with the addictive drool.
Each week they would have had to contrive some sort of bizarre scenario in which the MC steals the saliva of the girl he likes without her noticing. Hilarity ensues.
How about a horror/thriller anime that features an unpopular, Tomoko-esque, girl playing a deranged serial killer targeting moe blobs in her school.
basically what Watamote should have been.
An anime focused on abstract imagery and sound instead of characters. Where a story is told not by words or character actions, but by the atmosphere of the picture and the sound that is provided with it.
The picture of Nagisa's dad is highly relevant as I wish there were more things like Clannad After Story that followed characters past the whole vague "OMG THEY KISSED".
Shit sucks, it's like that's where the writer's knowledge of character progression runs out.
Tomboys and Genki girls getting down and dirty in the workshop. Throw in a good amount of fanservice with an accurate description and knowledge of the importance of regular vehicle maintenance. Tomboy girl covered head to toe in grease and motor oil with a 17 spanner in one hand and another on her waist, shooting a cheesy grin to camera-san. My dick would be absolute diamonds at that point, nothing would make my erection greater then cute girls working on cars, motorcycles and all manner of automotive vehicle repair and maintenance.
Anime about proper hackers, properly hacking, socially engineering, and using rubber-hose cryptanalysis when everything else fails.
Anime about gladiator battles with endless respawn - think any multiplayer FPS, but set IRL.
Anime version of the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy (shut up, there is no fourth movie).
Anime about Dwarf Fortress.
Anime about assassin/thief/con artist guild set in medieval.
Anime about Quetzalcoatl embodiment descending upon Earth and living among aztecs.
>Your next challenge will be to pitch a show idea to a local representative of an anime company.
>Anime? As in Japan?
Romance anime about a boy falling in love with a buff martial arts master in the mountains
Designs by SHD
Loli and their last stand at the Alamo annie-may
Wyald Arc of Berserk animated.
FUN THINGS ARE FUN
An excessive super-moe fanservice show, only with fat or muscular sweaty men instead of little girls. Phantom Blood was a step in the right direction but it wasn't enough.
That or an adaptation of The God of Small Things. Actually, an adaptation of any piece of literary fiction. Writing in anime has always been complete and utter shit.
I wouldn't want it to be about Otakus though, as these shows mostly just glorify that lifestyle.
I want middle-aged office workers, whose only hobby is going out to drink, not some faggots who spend all their money on figurines and shit.
Speaking of Planetes, I always thought that a short OVA series or something of highlights from the Von Braun's seven year mission and the eventual return of Hachi after the longest distance relationship in human history might be interesting.
>"Today we're all going to the beach!"
>"All right girls, get in the showers to clean yourselves off before we leave!"
Original anime is interesting because it takes what other media have done for years and puts a unique twist on it, like "cute girls, mechs, or supernatural bullshit". We watch anime for that purpose.
If you want something that doesn't have those elements unique to anime, there are thousands of films and books out there which would fit your criteria.
>Original anime is interesting because it takes what other media have done for years and puts a unique twist on it, like "cute girls, mechs, or supernatural bullshit". We watch anime for that purpose.
Why are you being so defensive? I'm just trying to help you out. If you want a gritty realistic WWII show anime isn't the place to look.
And the military anime we've had are pretty original/unique I'd say, they aren't really similar to each other at all.
>Why are you being so defensive?
I'm not the one being defensive here.
You were the one who said that the only purpose of anime is adding "unique twists" to already told stories.
He asked if there was an anime based on the second world war that is grounded in reality and you told him that isn't what anime is there for.
That is both being defensive and missing the point.
>He asked if there was an anime based on the second world war that is grounded in reality
He asked for an anime based on the second world war that is grounded in reality.
I believe I was explaining why it would not happen, and to look in other places instead.
>let's insert random Japanese, it's cool
Fucking hate the fact that these kids do it, recently frank ocean did it, then that homosexual 'the weeknd'.
I'd like to think that most of it is just directors choice, and not that these kids think adding semi-weeb shit is cool.
In around the year 2050 humanity is faced with total extinction. Be it aliens, self harm or natural disaster, something is coming that will annihilate everyone. In order to change the future top scientists around the world are able to construct a time machine, but it can only send one small device 1 thousand years into the past. They put all the world's knowledge into a solar powered tablet, including the coming treat, and launch it into the past.
The story is then told in this new past, as civilizations and characters fight over this tome of untold power and knowledge.
I have a thing for modern technology in ancient/medieval times.
True horror (or just something really scary/creepy) with a good plot. I've honestly never found anything with a really unsettling concept or something that has satisfied me. I had really high hopes for Another because the first like 2 episodes showed great promise but then it's revealed everything is (mostly) normal.
i dunno, casting couch?
>time traveling tech yet not cleaner energy sources, better alium blasters, etc.
Eh, I'd rather have an X-COM type of scenario full or reverse engineering and HFY
A producer usually oversees finances, a music producer usually oversees the studio works and makes sure the musicians are working properly (e.g. writing songs instead of wasting all their money on heroin ).
What I meant though were electronic music producers (DJs, if you will) who create electronic music.
I would like to see a hardcore Japanese Bug Fight anime with brutal finishers and shit sat to heavy metal soundtrack.
Chronicling the journey of a beetle or like insects rise to power in the gladiator arena of bug fights.
The torn antennae, the severed abdomins, the spiders ripping the wasps in twain, the rhino beetle giving not one solid fuck as it rams its opponents into oblivion.
The only dialog is the crowd and the announcers. The bugs take center stage, but bugs cannot talk and shouldn't talk. Just silent warriors ready to take on god himself if need be.
yeah anime is made for faggots who want to escape reality, i know
A bloated, overrated, inflated-by-details, mary-sue filled mess of an adaption of Dune in the same style as LGH.
It would be glorious!
The best part is how Clannad never had a kiss scene and yet portrayed romance better then any other anime.
Also, I think an anime based on business or the economy would be interesting. Spice & Wolf is the closest thing to it, but the time period makes it hard to relate with.
It certainly proves my point more than you claiming that anime wasn't made for that purpose.
The overwhelming majority of movies are also mindless shit, but that doesn't mean that the whole medium was created for them.
Now read the second sentence of my post.
And I bet that when the first guy in japan created a 3 second long animation strip in 1907 he didn't think to himself "serious animation based on reality has no place in japan"
Planetes was infuriating because the heroine was a retarded moralfag who kept refusing to do her gioddamn job properly (if at all) and kept endangering the lives of her coworkers while never suffering any repercussions for it. Fuck her.
I'd actually be fine with the same visual style, as long as the story was faithful to the original and was not told in such a convoluted way. But with more than 100 episodes I guess they could even go beyond the first book.
Holy shitsnacks... you're right, it never had that!
I just wish the after story didn't waste 8 episodes of the cast still beign in school and 6 episodes on a Deus Ex Machina at the end.
Granted it was a given about Nagisa croaking because if you have an illness that stops you moving FOR MONTHS THEN HAVE A BABY YOU'RE GOING TO DIE!!! no brainer.
It would've been nice if she just straight out survived as that would've been more surprising.
I'd like an Ace Combat anime, especially since any jet/helicopter in most anime gets destroyed in like 2 seconds by some bullshit supernatural entity. The anime would also have to pretend that
Assault Horizondoesn't exist.
Did you drop it a few episodes in or something? Tanabe was actually a damn fine debris hauler once she got going, and the moralfagness was kept to off the job. Plus, in episode 24 they completely deconstructed her worldview.
I really have no idea how else they would have adapted the visual novel other then doing the deus ex machina shit. I know it was bullshit, but I liked being able to see both stories.
I really wish they would have spent more time on nagisa being alive after birth though. I feel that there was plenty of heart warming goodness to be had.
>Fuck Ai Tanabe
Shit, been a while since I've seen somebody so objectively wrong on 4chan.
And weren't you paying attention? That's a privilege she made very clear was reserved for Hachi and Hachi alone.
>not all rainbows and happiness
>we see the idols deal with constant harassment
>we see them abused by their managers and other people that they work with
>the stress causes them to begin smoking, drinking, and using drugs
>at the end, one of them can't take it any mores and kills herself
>replaced with a new, naive bubbly idol girl as the older girls say that she'll end up the same way
Anime about loli race drivers in a futuristic setting with high-speed hover karts
That would be cool, if only because the girl's leader is Chihaya.
>Forgotten within a few days of her death
Heh, I come to think about it, I think there was an episode of (Yuuwaku Count Down? Cool Devices? I forgot) that went like almost like that. tl/dridol mindbreak worked too well and
she snaps mid concert.
1800s Whaling anime
>hunting whales in row boats with harpoons
>cannibals that are actually really nice and great at hunting whales like Queequeg
>metal as fuck
I would die for a beutifully hand drawn train action, with a lotsa irl train versions in it racing.
You know cgi is just not that appealing at least for me, from manga space i can feel more intense than from cgi animations.
I feel david would do a damn good job with this.
and of course eurobeat in the background that is a must
Stuff involving reverse engineering alien technology after getting invaded. The humans would be constantly outgunned and outmanned, so that they would need to resort to guerrilla tactics and resourcefulness in order to stave off the invasion.
>So. What have you never seen in anime that you'd like to see?
Japanese invasion of Manchuria and surrounding countries, seeing the absolute horror that happened in that region, eventually leading up to the fall of the Japanese empire.
What's funny is that there's a bunch of works like this in the US, dealing with the US and all the people we fucked over in our history.
Do the 11s even confront their past in novels? Keeping it off TV is one thing, but do they think about it at all?
Anime focusing on galactic overlords that are actually busy managing their empires and aren't megalomaniacs or having dreadnought-sized boners over screwing up everyone's life.
That shit is getting really stale, what's the point of having superior forces show up if you're just going to level the playing field effortlessly?
The fun part is the development and struggle of getting past the difficulty of implementing unfamiliar tech to human daily/non-daily life.
It's not "bullshit" if you execute it properly. Skipping out stuff and "getting to the point" in here would actually miss the point entirely.
Why can't the struggle be implied? Why does half of the show have to be dedicated to watching the protagonists get constantly shit on instead of watching them kill aliens?
Is the last chapter of the book where all of the fun stuff is?
Different cups of tea for different people.
For me, I'd like to see the main conflict of the story be the protagonists disabling alien stuff and reverse engineering them while having limited resources.
From your posts, it seems that you like strong protagonists from the start while his struggles in order to get strong is just in flashbacks or small implications.
They focus on two different aspects. Altering it from "struggle against superior aliens with limited tech" to just "killing aliens with instant alien tech" would make a different show.
It's nowhere near as satisfying with no buildup. You need to earn the ass-kicking, if you just waste it constantly then it doesn't have any impact. Please, never take up writing.
An anime about daily lives of ninjas with "real ninja powers", by which I mean not some Naruto bullshit, more like the saboteurs from Chaika or Akatsuki from LH:
stealth, super-speed and agility, mad dagger skills and other stuff which helps in these ninja activities.
Sadly I have no idea for a story setting. Maybe a cool adaptation of the 50 Ronin, tho those were Samurai.
Cute girls picking up and putting down heavy things
They don't already have to be strong, I just want to means to beat the aliens to already be there. Think of something like Nobunagun. The AU weapons already exist, DOGOO already collected the historical figures and has a fighting force, and their struggle comes from the aliens which are constantly evolving based on their fights. That's what's exciting for me. Not watching the protangonists "unexpectedly" turn a "losing fight" around.
After rewatching the first few episodes of Gargantia, I'd like something similar with a soldier with a mech/ship/advanced tech that gets stuck in a place with less advanced tech and turmoil and then stays that soldier throughout the series with turning too soft and without big amounts of "UNDERSTANDING". The first few episodes were exactly what I wanted
If the protag is a mature adult, there aren't stupid lolis everywhere, the advanced tech is not a mecha and there is no moralfagging everywhere I would be very satisfied with such an anime.
But the means to beat the aliens are already there, the difference being it needs to be neutralized and implemented first before it melts your face with plasma. Also, I think you mistook "unexpected" for asspulls and the losing fight is part of the charm.
This is a "what you want to see in anime" thread anyway, and that's what's exciting for me.
Why don't you post something you want to see in anime that you've never seen before? That way, we can stop filling the thread jerking around what I want to see.
>all Junji Ito's mangas get anime adaptations
One thing Takashi Miike frequently makes his best films about, are the outsiders in modern Japanese society. The fringe of the culture.
While Arakawa Under the Bridge attempted this for poverty, no Anime (with the possible exemption of Tokyo Godfathers) really has tried to make one about the outsider.
It would be fascinating to have a series about an immigrant working both as a government ensign and the Yakuza. Put them at the edge of both and have the viewer see how both the Yakuza and the government are highly bureaucratic organizations that punish the outsider.
Another series concept would revolve around the Mother and the Daughter. The only anime to really invest in this was Wolf Children and it was a huge success. Lone wolf and cub style stories (but with Mother/Daughter) pairings have been done already (Michiko e Hatchin) but the Mother/Daughter dynamic is not readily explored.
>But the means to beat the aliens are already there, the difference being it needs to be neutralized and implemented first before it melts your face with plasma.
>the means to beat the aliens are already there, you just have to beat the aliens first
Honestly, I think that I've seen just about everything there is to see in an anime, I've watched many different anime lol. Anime that I've really enjoyed were the "darker" ones, lately I've been watching a lot of lighter anime and by that I mean the colors, which is something that I do love too. I really love the anime Space Dandy and recently No Game No Life, I'm mentioning these because of their art style, I love their art styles! No Game No Life season 2 soon pls. :) Keep on making great anime, there are many who love and appreciate it!!! <3
I wouldn't want a powerlifting anime. I'd like to see an anime about a weightlifting gym open to the public. We'd be introduced to the diverse cast, both boys and girls who come from different backgrounds and train different things.
The gym would have a retired weightlifter who would hang around there and eventually coach the most hardworking(but shitty) lifter who would eventually go to the Olympics. Later, due to an accident the coach wouldn't be able to make it, but as MC steps out onto the platform he sees the entire cast who trained and encouraged him through his journey cheering for him and he
wins aided by the power of friendship
Shounen DJ anime. Two DJ enter into a battle and spin the turntables, one leaves. Like the beyblade anime in the way the DJ summon a monster through their music to fight. Featuring remixes/mashups of well known music.
I'd like to see more shows that focus on adults and their problems instead of teenagers. I know that's the demographic and all that, but the random show that has a MC that's not a teenager is a plus. (Monster, Mushishi etc)
Are you serious? Yuushibu has shitty fighting.
The best sword / spear fighting I have seen so far were Seirei no Moribito, Rurouni Kenshin and Sword of the Stranger. In each of them it was still mediocre at best.
The problem already starts with the usage of katanas. They don't have a proper crossguard to catch/hook the enemy and such, and they're shorter than a European one-handed sword. Japanese sword art is extremely primitive compared to HEMA since the former already failed at the metalurgical part.
Skillful fighting scenes are very costly, the animators usually have no fucking clue about swords or fighting in general and the target audience is too retarded to recognize skill. Therefore I am rather pessimistic and doubt that there will be any good sword fights in anime at least for the next decade.
one of them's bound to be gay
God, I remember reading the manga of that shit.
Within three pages of the first chapter, Heero hits his Wing to an aircraft carrier, blow up a Leo because he sees him even though they weren't even looking for him, got body slammed by another Leo piloted by Zechs, fall into the ocean causing his Wing to malfunction, and pronounce proudly that he was able to beat two mass-produced Leo unit with his presumably crazy expensive Wing Gundam which is now disabled/destroyed.
Goddamn Akahana would be able to pilot better than him.
I just read the last chapter of the manga since I never knew how it ended. What a shit ending. Nagi should have died, he was a shit character and he got the best waifu killed with his retardedness.
Fuck Oh Great
SoL on a spaceship repair station.
Anime about moms/christmas cakes when? They can just use a setting like a reading club but they don't actually read and gossip and be cute as fuck because there husband never pleases them enough.
*holds hand up* I admit I knew it was based on a VN but didn't play it so I found the undoing quite lulzy.
I concur it would've been nice to see more of them being a family. Anyone think of Mean Girls when she died? "If you have sex you will get pregnant and then you will die", but bless her when she said to Aki "We had sex and sex is where babies come from!".
Three young and handsome metalheads that want success for their own band and in the end they become famous; each of them likes different metal subgenres but they are still good friends. Also, they portray accurately the Heavy Metal subculture and make use of a few stereotypes. One of them has to be Scandinavian. Each of them has a realistic personality and different skills, not only in music. The series has to have a lot of original songs and some covers.
She was part of my calculations.
Cute nordic smiths crafting masterpieces in their isolated workshop in some isolated fjord. They openly worship the allfather, and therefor must hide from the evil jew christian murdersquads persecuting good folk.
What is Tetsuko no Tabi?
Sort of. I need to finish watching it.
The dark silent character has a cute energetic girl friend that he tried to keep a secret and she loves to embarrass her boyfriend by clinging onto him and saying stuff about him in front of his friends.
Sea exploration show loosly based on Age of Discovery period that used that time between discoveries to have cute sailor girls doing cute sailor things.
>Lots of tan girls.
>Bickering over how to best make a rope knot.
>playing dice and card games, arguing over bets.
>Philosophical hour with the medic.
>Fishing, eating, sea shantying, napping.
>Some of the older girls getting antsy because no men on the ship.
>Other girls wondering why its such a big deal, "Ara ara~ such innocence."
>Captain is a no nonsense eyepatch wearing loli, that needs to keep her crew inline.
Its such a shame the Japanese where shutting themselves in thier country instead of going to explore the sea like Portugal or something.
I didn't shout, anon.
>I just know what them girls do.
>Implying ALL the girls do it.
Also do you think the captain would let the crew fuck eachother? What about regulations?
By "shout 'yurifag'" I meant it in the way of crying wolf. Please stop, this is annoying.
And about what you said, pic related
"Wherefore" means "why" you uncultured swine.
She was asking the why did the man she fall in love with had to be a Montague. She even tells him to refuse his father and his name.
Anime adaptation by Madhouse of "Fuan no Tane"
It would be short ministories, at least 5 per episode. And it would air at 2 am.
Jeez yurifag, why such a reaction? Anyway, yurifag, its like you stopped reading the moment you read that line, which was a setup for the next one, give a better response next time other than
>All girls fuck other girls.
And then pitch a fit when called a yurifag, yurifag.
A light comedy about the misadventures of the Manhattan project scientists.
Since their ultimate aim was to make the atomic bombs that hit Japan, I bet no studio has the stones to make it.
A show where the MC/MCs have a dogwalking arubeito
SoL series about boys that aren't gay as fuck or straight-up gag comedy
An anti-harem matchmaking series where the MC tries to get the girls off of his dick and give them to guys who actually care. Or a harem where the MC NTRs a bunch of dudes unintentionally
I want to see more alternative sports anime
Kind of like Yowamushi Pedal was based on cycling, there should be more alternative stuff.
Cliff diving, organized racing (NOT Initial D), airsoft anime even.
We need games that won't be utter banal fantasy/scifi shit, though. Let's see.
>cute girls playing Paranoia
>cute girls playing Fiasco
>cute girls playing Engine Heart (it's shit, by the way - well, not exactly shit, but worse than it could've been)
>cute girls playing Dogs in the Vineyard
>cute girls playing Mouse Guard
there's a doujin about the k-on girls playing magic
>airsoft anime even
Gainax has you covered.
Theres one airing right now.
An anime about tea parties in the style of Shokugeki no Soma.
>MC is a young girl in high school
>She gets throw into a vortex into a fantasy sci-fi world with mecha, space ships, genetically engineered dragons, monster girls (Without the libido issues), and every imaginable trope and reference.
>Season 1 is mostly worldbuilding and fun bullshit with friendship and tea
>Season 1 ends with a Haro from Gundam telling her she's in a coma and has to retrieve 3 parts of her psyche to wake up, and has 2 weeks to do it before they pull her from life support.
>Season 2 is taken one day at a time as she scours the new world for herself, sometimes abandoning her new friends the breaking the bonds she made hoping to get back into reality.
>She succeeds and goes back to reality
And then EVERYONE gets sucked into the fantasy world because Haro is a dick who planned it all along. He's an immortal space robot. He was fucking bored and likes the drama of introducing new species into his world. Plus he's a dick. Now MC has to reconcile with her estranged space friends to find a permanent way home and save her species.
That should be shounen enough to sell.
I'd like to see an anime where humans are the invaders of other planets on a borderline-religious conquest of the universe, with lot's of pro-human scenes.
No board called ksg. Google gives me a shotgun. Surely you can't mean /k/,/s/,and /g/? Because combining them into a fantasy anime would be fucking awesome.
as a mechanic like yourself i would be diamonds in all the right places.
Cute girls with guns doing the super fast ninja run and gunning down demons in user made WADs.
>MC uses the shotgun, because it's best gun
>Sadistic loli wields the chainsaw
>Masochistic tsun uses the pistol
>Cowtits has the chaingun
>Afraid-of-everything has the double barrel shotgun
that knocks her down for a pantsu shot half the time
>Sensei uses the plasma rifle and never has enough fucking ammo.
Lots of camaraderie and blatant "Nippon Stronk!" propaganda. I'd watch it.
I want an anime that doesn't pander to a specific nation/nationality and portrays either everyone as shit as they are in real life or as equally unrealistically good.
A show about a dad that left his house and went to Paris 10 years ago because his wife got pregnant and he was a coward, and now he wants to go back and find his family but he cant find them ,btw he is a musician(the hobo tier musician) and believes himself to be an avant garde musician full of originility and shit and tht his destiny is to make a modern trout mask replica, but he is just and old inmature hipster full of shit fucking with vacuums thinking thats music . Main theme: growing up
Cute girls doing graffiti/street art, Banksy style. Would never happen due to Japanese society's extreme moral faggotry
>Clannad never had a kiss scene
I assume you mean Tomoya and Nagisa, in which case yes they did. Yall niggas need to read the visual novel
