i dont see what the big deal is with watching dubs
if its a popular and mainstream anime it's usually gonna have a quality dub
every anime i watched except the last 1 i finished and the 1 im watching now have been dubbed
just about everything pre 2000
Digimon, Bebop, Dragon Ball Z, Afro Samurai, Yugioh to name a few
The german dubs to Detective Conana are actualy enjoyable.
Greek shaman king dubs absolutely amazing.
One piece's was decent too, but that was pre 2000, quality has deteriorated since.(T-thanks Brussels)
Shaman King dubs were so good that when it got dropped and I had to see it in Japanese it felt horrible.
This. Plus anime like Evangelion and Geass ended up being really popular in the west. Everyone loved them and its dub version ended up being more popular than its Japanese counterpart, spawning all kinds of memorable moments that the Japanese versions weren't able to replicate. Or maybe it's all just because I have an affinity with English in general, causing to prefer one dub over the other. Oh well
>not knowing that 99% of dubfags are amerifats
How new are you?
And if you're talking about dubs in a different language, that's even more pathetic and laughable
excluding Russian Spice and Wolf OP
Pokemon, Digimon, DBZ, Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura were all mainstream and had dubs that were beyond terrible. Even though I kind of like DBZ's dub there's just no denying how bad it is.
Yu Yu Hakusho and Dragon Ball (original, not Z or GT). The only two dubs that I would consider to be actually better than the original Japanese (yes I went there, come at me).
I stumbled upon it on On Demand while I was looking for American cartoons. Saw Death Note, thought the name sounded cool, watched the episode where the cops and a helicopter chase Higuchi, the butler pro snipes the car's wheels, Higuchi all of a sudden dies, Shinigamis appear, and Light spazes the fuck out. When the episode ended, I grew a boner and wanted more mind fucks.
>the Japanese versions weren't able to replicate
Are you retarded? Also your reasoning makes me think you like 4kids for being completely unfaithful to the source.
>dub version ended up being more popular than its Japanese counterpart
That's every anime that Murika likes.
I agree wholeheartedly, only add leeron's voice to that list
glad I'm not the only one
I also found it easier to get a few more of the references in the lucky star dub as opposed to the sub
It's really fucking sad that one is pointing out how ridiculous "if i wanted to read a book i'd read a book" statement is.
Are Amerifats really that retarded?
>This. Plus anime like Evangelion and Geass ended up being really popular in the west. Everyone loved them and its dub version ended up being more popular than its Japanese counterpart
Both shows have dub fans, this is true, but I think the Eva dub in particular hasn't aged very well. For that matter, in both cases the Japanese is probably popular and still has memorable moments of its own, to say the least.
Behold /a/, my shit taste
Record of Lodoss War, D Grayman, Ghost Stories, Cromartie High School, Black Lagoon, Baccano, Rurouni Kenshin (really anything starring Kirk Thornton and Steve "Man of a Thousand Voices" Blum), Berserk, Dragon Ball, Lupin III (Red), Those Who Hunt Elves, Squid Girl, and Yu Yu Hakusho
The only legitimately bad dub on that list is Squid Girl's.
Anyway pic related had a surprisingly good English dub.
Off the top of my head:
Yugioh is a so-bad-it's-good since its not like the original was A+ 10/10 source material anyways
Not /a/ but I also liked Drakengard 3's dub though Zero is funnier/snarkier with the Japanese voice.
>Not /a/ but I also liked Drakengard 3's dub though Zero is funnier/snarkier with the Japanese voice.
While I have to agree, it also butchers the story a lot
Also fuck Yoko Taro
Because who doesn't love the listening to the entire cast of funimation reading lines half asleep. Jap VAs aren't much better but at least they put some effort into it.
Some terrible dubs can be funny like cromartie.
I remember when a small piece of the my childhood died when I found out the heart of the cards was actually Yugi cheating with Egyptian magic. All those times kid me would say that and make a big swipe when drawing a card.
Yeah well I meant the voice acting was good. Some shit always gets lost in translation. Gurren Lagann's acting was decent but some of the English lines written to match the mouth movements were just baffling
[Spoilers] mikhail's memories ;_; [/spoilers]
I only watch my Chinese cartoons in American, ya fuckin twinkle toed communist cocksuckers.
DBZ in French is the best of both worlds, except for Piccolo who is called "Petit-Coeur" for some reason. But what I mostly like is that they nailed Goku's VA and overall the story feels believable unlike the cringeworthy Japanese and English versions. Although what I found funny was the switch to the Japanese audio during screaming scenes, and boy do they scream in DBZ.
Yeah he said something along the lines o trust in the heart of cards in my grandfathers deck once and 4kids made it into a recurring thing to cover up his cheating. Most yu-gi-oh protags cheated.
I used to be a Yu Gi Oh anime lover until I discovered the incredibly underrated manga and now I despise the butchery of the Anime (especially the Egypt arc), be it dub or sub. Do yourselves a favor and read the manga.
I'm watching this dubbed and it's probably one of the better ones I've seen.
When something does shit in Japan, the nip jew fuckers drop all their bullshit about how "hard" it is to localize something these days and get it done in like 12 seconds because they need the cash.
>the god cards
I preferred the dub over the original. I just couldn't get into Kenshin's girly voice.
Bebop's dub isn't bad, I'll give you that, but the sub is still infinitely superior (don't give me that "b-but the show is western so the dub fits it more" bullshit)
Go watch it if you haven't already
I miss watching Death Note.
