Those are the culprits of the ddos, out of all places they admited it on twitter.
People who downloaded a lot from Nyaa may meet consequences.
Why are mods deleting the threads? they want to hide the truth ? is it because the new DMCA? 4chan going all legit now? this is truly the end of times.
Funimation. VIZ Media, and Remove Your Media are confirmed involved in this.
Seriously everything has been awful this year for anime and video games fans.
Golden age my ass.We are entering this end of internet freedom.
Forward this to the FBI. Distributing an IP dump like this is illegal, as is DDOS.
You faggots may have broken a law that will get you a $1000 fine, they just broke international law.
If their clients were aware that they were doing this and agreed to it, they could also be brought up on cyberterrorism charges as an accessory.
Report this to the dutch police:
Report this to the FBI:
If you see your IP on there, report it to your local government as a violation of local privacy laws.
Make these fuckers burn. They are more in the wrong than Nyaa, and if enough of us complain, the Feds will take notice.
I hope so, but I highly doubt it.
To the public eye, they're in the right, and they have more money to put into a lawsuit if a private entity (Nyaa) tries to sue.
I'm not a lawyer or anything though, so tell me if this sounds way off-base.
No, that's entirely illegal.
What's worse is that my ISP was mentioned in there.
>when Nyaa goes back up
so when is Nyaa going back up fuckers?
>Top Copyright Owners Represented
>VIZ Media LLC
>Japan Creative Contents Alliance LLC
and pic related if anyone is too lazy to go on twitter to see it
This is very /a/ related because Nyaa has been a big source of us and american anime companies are breaking laws such as
>>113121908 their posting of IP adress and heavy implication of DDOS attacks.
This is very /a/ related
They are not in the right to the public eye. DDOS is clearly illegal, as is IP dumps. This is clearly defined by precedents both in the US and internationally.
Piracy laws vary by jurisdiction, and Nyaa is a legal business in the Netherlands.
If the US allows this to continue then they are allowing an american company to commit an act of economic warfare against the Netherlands.
The government is responsible for this.
They better take it damn seriously.
Shit just got real.
Again, that is not admitting to DDOSing nyaa at all. Your IP is visible to the swarm while you are seeding a torrent.
That might certainly be illegal, but they have not in any way shape or form admitted to the DDOS. Please proceed with caution, /a/.
>Joined: December 2010
Nobody made a twitter 4 years in advance just to fuck with someone.
It's heavily implied and the timing between posting the IPs and the site going down is way, way to close to be coincidence. Please use common sense.
How? Just because we're rallying to (rightfully I'll have you know) report illegal activities that are impacting and terrorizing us? Illegal activities that happen to be international offenses?
Companies have scraped IPs and sent out DMCA notices for decades, it's nothing new. Just scare tactics.
DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ DAIZ
So did Funi/Viz/whoever hire RemoveYourMedia to do this?
I think they're like BayTSP and just remove stuff people tell them to
And it's funny how they think that infringement letters are a deterrent for people living in third world countries (or anywhere other than the US, really)
Holy shit you guys don't even read anything before freaking the fuck out do you?
>It's heavily implied
>Please use common sense
>what is reading comprehension
Anon, I'm not claiming whether they did or didn't (I agree that the timing is very suspect), but their twitter did not at any point take responsibility for the DDOS.
>I actually expected to be able to illegally pirate and download media indefinitely
>I did not backup anything
>I did not have ample storage onhand for this day
>I did not download anything I wanted to have
>I expected other people to provide for me for free, their content, and their bandwidth, indefinitely.
You have *ONLY* yourselves to blame
Maybe if you weren't such technologically incompetent retards who think that
>using MadVR, usually from some shitty bloated codec pack, on microsoft windows
>some edited cookies to get into a shitty "g.e-hentai plus cartoon cp" NSA botnet honeypot good goy sekrit club
>ricing up with 4chan x and kawaii wayfoos
makes you technologically competent
maybe if you weren't such hilariously stupid hypocrites
this wouldn't be so funny
You guys need to let them think they've won. Let them send their letters.
Nyaa will be back and even if it isn't, there are other ways of getting anime. Reporting them to the feds isn't going to do anything meaningful, think before you do something stupid.
I read their twitter, they never admit to anything, but there is more than enough evidence to launch an investigation.
Report this to the FBI. They have invaded the privacy of those people in the IP dump, and possibly international law with the DDOS if the feds find them responsible.
This is the big time now. We aren't /b/, we aren't /v/, we aren't DDOSing them like 12 year olds, we are reporting an act of economic warfare against the Netherlands.
No you fucking moron.
All that google website says is that Funi and those other companies have filed copyright claims and that Remove your media has sent out letters and attempted to get violating content removed.
And if you look at the website it says they've removed less than one percent of all claims ever
>My IP is on that letter
Still waiting on that letter chumps
> out of the hundreds of thousands of users of nyaa they're sending less than 400 letters to ISPs
> most if not all of those will be ignores
Oh wow this is really something to panic about
Its the end of times
>Pretty much admitting that you've been DDOSing and collecting IPs from a website on Twitter
They'll probably get away with it, who am I kidding. God what the fuck is going on, I just want to watch anime and play video games, why does all of this bullshit have to happen at once.
DIDN'T YOU KNOW?
>/v/ : ZOE QUINN
>/b/ : CELEBGATE
>/a/ : NYAA, HS, TT, ALL TAKEN DOWN BY DCMA HIRED THUGS, **YOUR IP** TAKEN FROM NYAA, YOU ARE GOING TO BE SUED AND HELD LIABLE IN BURGERCLAP COURTS
Once the dust settles it will become clear as to who is responsible.
I just want my chinese cartoons back. If sicking the feds on them is the fastest way to do that and get the newfags out of here, I'm happy to do it.
I am not some leegun guy. I just want them to stop committing acts of economic warfare with impunity.
It's moments like this that I'm especially glad that I downloaded almost everything I have through starbucks wifi.
For fuck's sake I've been on here for three years, why do this when you can just as easily help out? I don't wanna try joining Animebytes, it's hard to get in
Why are trackers needed anyway?
Why can't we make an open source program that can be run locally to easily aggregate all releases by fansubbing groups in one locally-hosted RSS feed?
If we're able to figure out what shows are airing and who's subbing them, we could even make it easily customizable down to which group you want to use.
The only problem I see is that many fansubbing groups don't host their own .torrent files, but rather exclusively host them on the trackers.
We need to decentralize, or this will keep happening.
You know, I buy a ton of manga, buy a few figures here and there, and download my anime. If streaming wasn't shit I'd happily spend a few bucks a month on CR.
What's fucking stupid is if sites like nyaa or animebytes are gone there's so much anime I won't be able to watch without learning Japanese and importing it. Sure most anime that comes out gets subbed these days, but there's plenty of older series that are either out of print and impossible to find, or never got licensed/officially subbed so the only way I can watch it is with fansubs. Why the fuck should I not be able to watch that anime.
>Lurking does nothing if no one ever responds or talks about it dumbass

Reminder that in times like these, /pol/ is your greatest and truest ally.
Reminder not to be deceived by Divide And Conquer tactics.
Calm here, but there's certainly enough to grow jagged black hair and wear a red suit. Publicly releasing scrapes of private IPs with an insinuation of copyright violations not backed by evidence, and clearly deliberate wording in alluding to involvement in a DDoS attack. Though getting aggressively involved isn't smart, I imagine this will bite RYM later on.
What happens when SJW catch wind of this?
We've managed to keep /a/ under wraps, but this is the most misogynistic board on 4chan and possibly the internet
>Revealing your IP is illegal in most places
This is false. It's actually embarrassing you retards keep parroting it. You're so mentally infirm it's hurting my mirror neurons.
Cite the law you somehow think this is illegal under.
>Now that Nyaa and other sites are down
Please reporting anime & manga piracy sites and IRC. Save the anime manga business. Pirate and scan translator websites only fear a government agency telling them to stop or else will get a criminal record. The same for IRC, private IRC, and private FTP. With many reports, the govnment is justify to subpoena records from the ISP confirming types of files transferred on FTP or IRC. USA sites will comply with a japanese government subpoena sent for review by the usa FBI since international treaties.

Let me get things straight. These guys were hired by Crunchyroll or Funimation or whoever to shut down Nyaa. They DDoSed them are now now sending out letters to ISPs. Is that everything that happened?
I just want to enjoy my Chinese cartoons and video games in peace, man.
fuck I almost thought we got ddos'd there for a second
wouldn't surprise me if that was just a warning shot from this new uncovering

OH SHIT IT'S THEM
>Torrenting is technically legal
>ISP don't give a fuck
Be canadian for once feels good.
It is one thing to shut down threads that support piracy.
It is a completely different thing to shut down threads that support a site being ddosed because it has SOME content that MIGHT be copyrighted.
The reason for 4chan mods to shut down most threads could be more practical. These kinds of threads have been on constant repeat and often have multiple threads per board at a time and clutters the place to shit.
If you honestly don't think this is related then you're crazy, they couldn't have possibly timed this worse. And regardless of the DDOS, releasing IPs like that is EXTREMELY illegal.
Are we back now?
Can moot just make some website or something for all these stupid fucks on /b/? Seriously, /b/ is killing the entire fucking website.
As far as this shit with Nyaa getting ddos'ed, I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's the internet, you cut off one head and 5 grow where the old one used to be. Until this shit is sorted out just use xdcc.
Funimation and Viz can go fuck themselves however.
By the way, check this out
why is it all a year old, and i dropped kamisama whatever after the first episode
>mfw I am European and they can't do anything to me since DL copyrighted material for personal use it not a crime
People are stupid.
First, they can't actually do anything with your IP. IP addresses are not people, as per court ruling. Second, DDoSing is not illegal in the Americas, however it is illegal in the UK.
Nothing's going to happen from this. Getting a vague list of IP dumps is easy as fuck, and even easier to fake.
Obvious false flag. They've been sending notices 2 weeks before the DDoS and are simply telling that they will continue to do so once the site is back up.
It's simple logic. They can't send out DMCAs to anyone while there's no swarm to spy on.
>We do not have information about your IP
That's not the point. By lodging a criminal complaint, the owner of that handle will have to come clean with who they are or also deal with evasion charges. By charging them, you can find out exactly who they are.
>but this is the most misogynistic board on 4chan and possibly the internet
HAHAHAHA its like you've never been to /r9k/. Those guys are fucking insane. /a/ is babby mode misogyny. I wouldn't even call /a/ misogynistic.
This wouldn't have happened if you had just given money to the Jews.
This happened because you believed in Daiz, you stupid shit.

Not that this will really get anywhere but knowing I have absolutely nothing to worry about feels nice.
All this is going to blow over in a week at the most.
Funny to see people so paranoid though. Pretty pathetic how much work is being put into this as well.
They don't have info on my IP...
BUT I BET THEY DO AFTER I FUCKING CHECKED
To back this up, the RCMP (the national police organization of Canada) campaigned hard to have the Canadian signing of the DMCA not allow prosecution of individuals who are simply downloading content. Unless you host a few terabytes of torrents, there is nothing to worry about as a Canadian.
Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the DAIZ,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.
Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
For the DAIZ watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

Nowhere, people enjoy alarmism.
They can do nothing, they are wasting time and money with this, and they will get more problems than benefits from this, people will buy less with their shit that they are pulling.
You can blame Daiz for monopolizing torrents to one site.
Those are the refreshing words I needed to calm down.
Thank you kind /a/non.
Comcast one sent me a letter complaining that I had illegally downloaded two Katy Perry songs and that my service would be shut down if piracy continued.
Don't get me wrong, I have over 600 GB of pirated shit...
But a Katy Motherfucking Perry Song ain't a single one.
>4 pages of random torrents I've downloaded in the last 3 years
Bring it on.
The only place stupid enough to actually jail people for this shit would be murrika, and i don't live there.
SO THIS IS HOW IT ALL ENDS?
THIS IS HOW IT ALL COMES TO PASS?

IS THERE NO ONE WHO CAN SAVE US? ARE THERE NO HEROES LEFT IN MAN?
I LOVE YOU, /a/NON'S, I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU, EVEN AFTER I GET A JOB AND BECOME A NORMALFAG, I WILL ALWAYS HAVE YOU IN MY HEART.
OH... IF ONLY WE COULD ALL TURN INTO TANG.
I have to agree with the anons that are saying we should wait before reporting. We aren't saying that you are wrong. We are just saying that there needs to be more definitive evidence (not implied or circumstantial) before we begin making a case to any authorities. And I also tend to agree that staying under the radar is a safer route unless we really need to reveal our hand. Hell, odds are that once we let the copyright trolls think that they have won the fight, sent their letters, and DDoS'd for a few weeks... they will stop and the storm will pass.
Rushing in headfirst might bring back negative attention from the authorities and it might backfire in our faces with permanent shutdowns or worse.
>We do not have information about your IP.

No. XDCC might be convenient now, but it's nothing we can use in the long term. It isn't made for the scale we'd be using it at.
We need to decentralize the trackers. Subbers should start hosting .torrent files themselves, instead of uploading them to a tracker. From there, the possibilities are endless.
/a/non group suicide when?
May you all see you're waifu's in Valhalla. I know I will.

Son, nobody gives a shit about that. Even if they did yo that, the "authorities" won't give a shit because they were taking down on pirates. What part of "government bought and paid for by the companies" do you not understand?
>All those panicking replies
Don't worry guys us Canada bro gonna keep /a/ alive until you return from prison.
We have no strong evidence that they did. All they post in twitter are just implications.
Either way, the best course to take is ignore this. Ultimately, they can't take anime from us unless they DDoSes every tracker in the internet. Just lay low until they run out of cash to power their servers and everything will be back to normal.
So how exactly will Western anime culture exist without piracy?
They don't fucking provide translations or places to buy it unless it becomes so popular that it gets a dub.
Manga is even worse.
>XDCC might be convenient now, but it's nothing we can use in the long term
What the fuck are you talking about? XDCC is 100% viable for the long-term. I've been doing it for years. It's better than torrenting in the first place since you can watching episodes as they download. The only time torrenting is better is for batches.
Some shit from a year ago.

That's the point.
In fact, I didn't even know what songs Comcast was talking about and immediately went to listen to them for free on Youtube after Comcast complained.
With Youtube, the only cost is watching an ad.
fuck yeah mexico, the true land of the free
Why not subscribe to Crunchyroll and watch Space Dandy in silky smooth 30fps and at 1080p.
Not necessarily. They can log who had which IP when. How long they're maintained is a different question. Probably not long enough to do anything, but who knows what their policies are.

Looks legit. Not that I give a fuck since I don't live in America.

I couldn't give less of a shit, none of this will amount to anything. The most upsetting thing out of this is it reminded me that space brothers ended ;_;
Why would you download that with my IP? motherfucker!
Try doing this on /b/ please. It's not like many will listen and even if they did you are making them risk getting shat on by not making a proper guide. You didn't even add the awareness of being behind several proxy services while doing this.
Outside of my personal provider changers, I haven't changed my IP except about 3 times in fucking 10 years. I've downloaded plenty on this IP, and I don't even have a list on there. It's horribly inept.
I remember being linked to this like a year ago and I had nothing, but now I have like a full page. Could it just be the cookie recording when you download a torrent file? I don't have my original PC at the moment but when I do I'll check the dates of that cookie

I'm so thankful I didn't switch to Google Fiber. Everyone who has that in my city has been getting notices like mad.
Meanwhile my shit cheapo ISP
> We do not have information about your IP
I haven't paid for media in almost a decade
XDCC was designed in the early 90's to perform file transfers at a scale completely unlike what we have today.
You've been using it for years with success because you are literally the only one left. Everyone else moved on to torrents and thus you were able to enjoy your speedy downloads that are hosted on a single server.
The second major trackers go down and everyone floods XDCC, it goes to shit and crashes and burns. Assuming the trackers stay down and people go back to using it en masse, it simply won't work.
That, and automating XDCC is a fucking bitch.
Well it's not my country gives a shit about anything but mining industry, fucking Australia
My ISP has dynamic IPs that change when you have your router unplugged for like a week or so. Needless to say, the only time I've changed my IP address was when I moved to another apartment.
Hell, I had my last IP address for such a long time that I remember it off the top of my head.
CR/Funi/Viz are trying to muscle out their only real competition in the west. They don't seem to realize this will backfire for them when people don't watch their shit anymore out of fear of retaliation.
THE PEOPLE SAYING IGNORE IT ARE OBVIOUSLY INSIDERS.
Daiz said to ignore it. And we all know who he's working for, don't we? Don't fucking ignore this shit and send all the information to the FBI. If you listen to the people saying "calm down", anime will become impossible to pirate by the end of the week.
We can't let it end like this. We must stop Daiz, stop CR and Funimation, and bring back the golden age of anime.
>They are not in the right to the public eye. DDOS is clearly illegal, as is IP dumps. This is clearly defined by precedents both in the US and internationally.
