Jazzy piano version of some Eva music. The album was released late 2013 and I enjoyed it, so I spent $50 to get the sheet music. The piano version of Thanatos is really nice and pretty challenging to play.
Here's the album for listening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH-CH_lW4pI
01 Decisive Battle
These are pretty much the best piano arrangements of Eva music that I've seen.
so cool I forgot to attach
04 - Thanatos - If I can't be yours
This one's my favorite.
Yeah it's tough. Also you need to redistribute the notes between the two hands to play some of the chords. Wanted to scan this before I started marking up the music with those kinds of notes.
Komm süßer Tod is next but I'm still scanning it. And the rest of the pieces except Rei I aren't that super interesting for me so I'm probably going to scan them at another time. If someone particularly wants one of the later ones (check the TOC) then lemme know.
Damn these are flashy. Pretty nice chord treatment though.
05 - Komm süßer Tod
And here's the introduction and some notes I guess.
I'm uploading one to mediafire now.
Also kinda hoping you scan the other songs, as there are some old classics as Everything you,ve ever dreamed and of course the piece at four hands from the new movie, anways its awesome that you bothered doing this for someone else!
>Sure, I'll probably do the rest later this week. Quatre Mains seems good, but I haven't watched 3.0 yet.
I envy you so much, because I watched 3.0.
You can (not) unwatch, and it pretty much killed the love I had for EVA, 'except for the original.
Don´t listen to others, 3.0 Its pretty awesome, especially if you found 1.0 and 2.0 to not be EVA enough for your taste, It will make you hyped for the next movie for sure( I mean, its Miyazaki´s favourite of the bunch), dont expect to see 3.0 in english for a long time, though...
What exactly is there to get hyped for with the next movie?
Because 3.0 killed the hype entirely for me personally.
Seriously, throw me anything. I've given it a lot of thought since I like Evangelion and would like to see it well-represented, but pretty much anything comes out as terribly shallow or just outright bad because of how terrible 3.0 was.
Okay, so you dont like... I suppose the most correct thing to do in those kind of situations is to let OP to form his own opinion and ignore both "sides", I suppose.
I mean thats what people must have done when EoE came out, right?
Also ,every opinion can change, I still remember when Space Dandy was considered Cancer for a while on this board... anyways, sorry for kinda infecting the thread with my opinion , OP.
Spoilering for OP
Right, for me the movie was pretty good since it actually felt like something happened since the age when I saw the original series and the movies,
we could actually SEE Shinji and Kaworu being together which was an interesting dynamic having been hyping the moment since the first movie, the story is actually interesting now that it isnt tied with the original series,2.0 did an example with how innecesary was to cramp the film with scenes so it respected somewhat the structure from the series, like there´s only a handful of scenes that are any relevant to the plot (seriously, the eighth angel was completely unworthy of that much screentime), 3.0 had serious plot advances, like, more serious than if the timeskip hadnt happened, finally there´s this sensation that the kids time is over, this is the age of the adults, now Shinji has to face the truth of the world, a kind of catharsys that wasnt present on the series, and an important message to the young people, Gendou and Fuyu are doing their stuff, Wunder, the new EVAs, my opinion that they used the Rei 3 plot in a better way, more Mark.6 hyping, how the plot is tightening..., well, there are a lot of things that I liked, and I feel somewhat stupid having to "justify" it, but if it helps you understanding it, it may have been because I spent a lot of time and work translating it for certain company(not Funi) , I also respect your opinion, since I dont like how no one of the movies can defend by itself as a good movie, however as a "series" 3.0 is the most interesting, craziest, and more serious installment, I didnt like 2.0 a lot when itcame out, didnt feel enough EVA for me.
I was interested in what made you think 3.0 will be hype.
But seeing >>113742301
it's pretty clear you've misunderstood the whole thing. There's not a single right thing about it.
That is a load of bullshit. You know why?
Because the "dynamic" isn't interesting, and nor was it hyped since the first movie - it's an outright lie, and it's even less detailed than the one episode there was in NGE.
It's also patently wrong that you think
"this is the time of the adults", when there are more children on-screen and less focus on the adults than any of the two previous movies. You are lying to not just me, but also yourself.
timeskip ends up thwarting the characters, meaning they're even more shallow in 3.0 than int he previous movie. That is a disaster. The timeskip being forced onto the story means that "the truth of the world" is meaningless. Similarly the characters all act like idiots for no reason.
Rei 3, and the character, is irrevocably ruined. It's not better when it destroys one of the characters, and brings in a new character who will be undeveloped by the end of the series. How can you even say this was better? HOW?
The worst part of it?
There is no message. The only thing 3.0 does, is destroy what the previous movies had done, and ruin some characters like Rei while pampering others. It's no different than what a crazy fan would do if he suddenly had the script. The message you speak of doesn't work. There is nothing interesting about 3.0 whatsoever, because the second you start treating it as something interesting by analyzing it, it all just falls part as poorly written tripe.
You doing an italian/german translation or something?
All right then, listen up. Spoilers for OP.
You are severely exaggerating how well-done or significant the things in 3.0 are. Shinji and Kaworu's dynamic is just terrible unless you're one of the fans that ship them romantically, or get off to that. There is less about their characters and relationship, and more symbolism and fanservice than anything else. This is disastrous for Eva and Rebuild because it eats up the time of everything else. There's a reason it was only there for one episode in NGE. When writers do things like these in stories, i.e upping the relevance of a character and just plays it on things the fans of said character would like, it's no different from a doujin. It's one of the worst-case scenarios for a work that's taken seriously like NGE and it came true with 3.0. On the opposite end of the scale you have Rei. See picture related. It's not handled better, it's handled in a way that specifically lowers the image of Rei while aborting her entire character. Rei III was a pivotal moment of Rei's character in the original, which is now barren and forgettable with 3.0. But that's not my main problem with it. It's the timeskip and how they decided to have every character act negatively towards Shinji solely for moving the plot, and they act like morons when they have no reason to do so. It's jarring, because in one moment they are a strong organization that goes to space and fights Angels, and in the next they are incompetent and like helpless children. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idiot_plot After this the movie becomes 100% predictable. It was just boring to watch. Because the plot, the characters all can't support themselves, this has the WORST possible meaning for the very highly expected moral message: it doesn't work. The message is just pretentiousness, there's nothing real about it, nothing human. Just forced plot.
Not Italian or german, for Europe though.
well, you two who have posted your opinion, and Im fine with it, but would find interesting if you could tell me what the other 2 movies did to work better or more, to make up what 3.0 lacks for you(If you liked the other films, of course)
Having said this, Its pretty hard to not get hyped when seeing something discussing the third movie on jp tv and webcasts from japanese critics.
related, he puts the film in angles I would never have done myself
>but would find interesting if you could tell me what the other 2 movies did to work better or more
First off, whether you like them or not, they are what makes 3.0 at all even possible. The pathos and logos they create are what means 3.0 is at all important.
They built characters, developed them and furthered the setting. They did so without breaking the sense of disbelief, everything is plausible.
If you remember the original, this IS EVA. It begins with six episodes of Shinji acclimating, and then it gets a bit lighter and funnier for the next six or so episodes. The only of the movies that can't be called "EVA" so far is Rebuild 3.0, since it entirely drops the character-aspect of Rebuild and merely works off pandering.
I'm sorry if I can't give comments on that video, I can't understand Japanese. You'll have to provide some highlights, maybe. If they at all take Rebuild seriously, in my opinion they are above all likelihood pretentiously worded and conceived.
To be entirely honest, the two first Rebuild movies are on themselves, not all that great. But that's what I would say for six episodes of Evangelion too.
The first six episodes are interesting enough to hook you, and the next six episodes with Asuka are actually fairly droll unless you get easily excited. Nothing wrong with liking some robot action, though.
But they still serve a very important role, and so does the first two Rebuilds. They establish the characters. They give the rest of the series something to actually work with. Imagine if EoE or the final two episodes had no context? They would be considered rubbish, and rightly so. (except the cool visuals)
I have to give credit to 2.0 for actually sparking my interest in the Rebuilds, because watching 1.0 it was just more-of-same with some weird changes. It's 2.0 that actually makes things change, and then the whole "attention grab" is successful.
Entering 3.0 was the destruction of what had been created so far. What it presented in "compensation", were new characters that quite sadly are little more than travesties or extremely pampered fan-service versions of what already existed.
The setting also has the same purpose, to deny or enable fantasies,
that is why it is now rewritten to a "loop"-type scenario. (Which by the way kills all feeling that what happens matters, because it will just happen again anyway)
So I cannot see any hype whatsoever. If anything, it's been doomed completely. I don't know what those Japanese analysts said, but I bet they're just jerking it out over the pulp science fiction, like "what is this, or what is that shiny new bauble".
Looking at the time-schedule, there's one movie left which isn't enough to fix the problems with it. There shouldn't be problems there to begin with.
So what exactly do you think is "hype" about 3.0? Because as I see it, it's been turned into the private fantasy playground of Anno, where his favorites come first.
well, I understand you think that way, but 1.0 and 2.0 are so unncecesary for 3.0 that it would have been easier if 2.0 would have been more of its own instead of trying so hard to be like the series and being a little less convoluted not only with the pacing, but with unnecesary and clearly bad decisions resulting of production misunderstandings, like when the producer requested to use the ideas of a man who wasnt told what would happen in the third movie, but cliqued with the commercial interests of said producer.
Anyways its not like I have to fight to convince you of anything, so I wont try to waste words on some kind of rebuttal that isnt needed.
The video is a comment by Toshio Okada, in all fairness he just seems to enjoy fun things( no subtle meaning intended), among other things, he says his favourite scene is Shini and Fuyu since it breaks the rule in which no one tells Shinji the truth about whats happening, he talks about the "kid world/adult world" angle( he means that Shinji has to deal with what the adults have done, and become a mature person to overcome the trial), how the new movies have become truly EVA with this(Leiji Matsumoto also said this) and how he is super hyped for the fouth film, Misato has to die because she is like a Jojo character(you know, like Zeppeli, Caesar, or Gyro, have to die, its part of their legend) , and that he sees a pararel to Star Wars in how Gendou and Shinji are like Anakin and Luke, Gendou has done all this to "save" Yui, Shinji will probably have to let go of Rei as to not end like him. He is prety hyped.
I know it sounds kind of biased to quiote it as he has a somewhat positive view, but dont worry, one of the most hardcore Evafans in Japan loathes the movie.
This evafan this guy reenacted scenes on tv and even confessed once that he had the voice of Rei recorded in his walkman and listened it all the time when he was in school, but he is pretty much assblasted for the film, one could say its pretty divisive around there too, I just linked on somewhat positive opinion with Toshio Okada, however it seems adults like the third film more( no subtle meaning intended again), maybe its the lack of High school antics, if thats the case.
If only... the final script for the dub is a piece of shit, however in that country everything anime is like that
>like when the producer requested to use the ideas of a man who wasnt told what would happen in the third movie, but cliqued with the commercial interests of said producer.
I'm not sure why you see a problem here. Let's gather some facts:
Hideaki Anno owns the project.
He owns the studio, he owns the IP, and he is the director, writer and "head honcho" of everything. He has a veto-right. Now, if he asks someone to brainstorm for him, there is actually no conflict here. There aren't any bad decisions save for what Anno himself decides to do with the idea.
There cannot be any production misunderstandings. Because the producer doesn't write the work, and if Anno disagrees he can just override him and do as he likes.
>but 1.0 and 2.0 are so unncecesary for 3.0
No, they aren't. They really, really aren't. Without those, 1.0 and 2.0 make even less sense. Why Shinji acts like he does or is upset now makes no sense whatsoever and becomes meaningless, as if it wasn't bad enough already.
This Toshio Okada guy sounds like a moron. Maybe he isn't but what's what you make him sound like. I don't know who the latter one is.
The Anakin and Luke comparisons are pretty fucking BS. Luke doesn't have to let go of anybody, and this whole thing of "letting go of Rei" just seems like a cheesy maneuver from Anno to rag on Rei even more. Basically he's writing Rei down into nothing, and then actually making it the part of the plot that she needs to die or be forgotten.
Of course, in the meantime the rest get cool action fanservice treatment.
I don't see how anyone can remain positive about something as obviously disgusting as this.
On another hand, comparing the Rebuilds to the Star Wars prequels does seem rather fitting. They were also terrible save for the score.
You seem to think that a producer who paid everything of EVA actually has more "veto" than Anno, who just made it, things dont work like that.
If 3,0 was how it was( for better or worse) was because Anno told him to give him creative control, sostarting with 3.0 you can say that but 2.0 was the corporative child of a young company thats only doing EVA and has like a whole commitee above Anno, among others this producer Tosimichi Ohtsuki, also the guy of Nico Nico and other guy who made that Shinji never punches Zeruel because he didnt want a movie where Women got beaten.
>You seem to think that a producer who paid everything of EVA actually has more "veto" than Anno, who just made it, things dont work like that.
They do, because what you wrote was false. It's not the producer that funds EVA, it's Anno himself. That's his words, he is funding it himself. It's his studio, his money, his everything.
The whole "design by committee" thing is also Anno's way of doing things - the original Evangelion was not penned by him alone. Many of the core ideas of Evangelion, such as the mothers being inside the EVA's, actually comes from people like Sadamoto.
If the producers says that he doesn't want a movie where women gets beaten, Anno found that a good idea, agreed to it and went on with it.
There is no committee above Anno. Anno is above them all. You know even the final scene, right? The rescue scene.
Anno had written something, and so he invites Enokido for a sit-down session, where he is asked for input. Anno likes his idea about a rescue.
Even when there were people protesting, such as Tsurumaki, and the producer, guess who overrides them all and puts it in? Anno does.
Regardless of this..... 3.0 came to be. Anno always had creative control. He is the de facto owner of the project.
He is the director of the studio. This means that even the producers are on Anno's payroll. He pays them to fill a role, which he can override as he pleases.
Just so this bit gets clear, Ohtsuki told Anno that he will never let him do a sex scene ever(because he did it in the series without his permission), he also requested a script from Yoji Enokido behind Anno and demanded the ending of 2.0 to be "happy" as weird as it sounds, originally it was pretty more dark,so this guy had to apologize in the Ghibli newspaper when 3.0 came out saying "I had to reconsider everything".
If you care for this angle of the story just look it in google, with right keywords, Enokido, Ohtsuki, evangelion 2.0, etc, youll dig up more information on this.
I've seen it. Ohtstuki is a producer that like you point out, even in the series gets overridden. Anno isn't making this series alone. Ohtsuki isn't the only one that makes suggestions. Every one of the writers are brainstorming hard, and Ohtsuki gives his opinion as a producer.
I think I've already read the relevant articles google can give me.
What remains clear is that Anno has had complete control from the start. There's nothing pointing to him not having it control, it would defy all logic.
He is in such control, that the only way to make others in control would be if he relinquished it willingly.
During the NGE-days, he was subject to investors who made it possible to make NGE in the first place. They had their say.
According to Anno, today there are no investors like that. It's all funded by himself. I'll dig up the quotes for you if you want, but I think you've read them already.
So the only one with the say is the owner, that is Anno.
>-- The production cost of the new works has been entirely financed by Studio Khara, without inviting contributions from outside investors. They are so-called "independently produced works." Why this type of approach?
>Anno: If I accept investments from outsiders, then I face the limitation of having to make a cost-effective work. By using my own money, in all aspects I can take responsibility and do what I want. We have staff for distribution and advertisment as well, but ultimately I am responsible. I don't want to make excuses like, "the finished work was excellent but the advertising was poor."
okay, its your opinion against mine so its not logical to keep fighting over it, however the matter of the original Eva´s funding is a whole different thing, since it was a show that Ohtsuki went prsonally to pitch with disastrous results and ended with the so famous budget problems it had, nevermind me, please, nut that story was rather serious and needs investigation, as far as we know, only little investors had something in it(beer, snacks) because they didnt mind the nature of the show, the only big investor was king records, which Ohtsuki works for, the toys and models were rejected by Bandai as they didnt like the show, however they later bought the license from a lesser company that Ohtsuki managed to sold the rights to, without dealing with him.
KTV fired the person in charge of scheduling when episode 20 aired( because of the sex thing), and Ohtsuki always says Anno is responsible of all of it because no one was looking for him.
I can be a little exagerated, but usually this would mean that theres gonna be some kind of complication when theres so much more money and eyes involved now, right?
Of course that I can not deny that statement, but youll find around that page other statements that completely contradict it, thats the only answer that you need to know.
Not everything everyone says is completely truth though.
I'll take the Ohtsuki stuff last.
>I can be a little exagerated, but usually this would mean that theres gonna be some kind of complication when theres so much more money and eyes involved now, right?
But there aren't any more eyes involved. Money there's more of, but they all come from one source.
Let's have a look at the people who founded and owns Gainax (thus Evangelion), not counting whoever left eventually:
That's are a lot of eyes. Then you add King Records and whichever other companies (the television channel?) that are also entitled to a share of the IP or it's profits. That's the original, and it was complicated.
Now lets look at Khara.
One pair of eyes there. There is one CEO and Director, and it's Anno. There aren't any complications any more.
The "old team" are still doing work, but they'd be on Anno's payroll, dancing to his song.
As for Ohtsuki, it's not Ohtsuki saying Anno is responsible. It's Anno himself.
>but youll find around that page other statements that completely contradict it,
Where? I've seen none of those. See above for more conclusive proof of how much in control Anno is over the Rebuild series.
>okay, its your opinion against mine so its not logical to keep fighting over it
also, is this what they teach people in Spain? That's why it's logical to fight. It differs, and we'll butt heads to see who is right.
The bottom line is, for 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0, the person that is ultimately responsible is Hideaki Anno. It is a project made by a studio he owns, with an IP he owns, and funded with capital he already had, without any outside investors that muddle up his creative control.
He can make what he wants, he can take all the time he wants, there's noone stopping him.
People like Ohtsuki, Enokido, Tsurumaki, their opinions and input are also part of the final product, but the one who approves it is the director. Take any movie. Take Star Wars, take whatever you like. There are actors, cameramen, writers, lots of people that come together to make a product, a movie. But who is boss? The Director.
Now Anno is in the position where is the man funding the project, the man owning the project, the man writing the project, as well as the man directing the project.
There's literally noone else to blame.
The actual facts are right, but in the Notenki Memoirs, a book written by Takeda, he adds that GAINAX itself has no connection whatsoever with EVA except that its the place were the people that Anno took from outside worked on EVA and that they had some rights to the characters since Anno was a founding member, his words "it was a thing between Anno and Ohtsuki", in comparison to Khara where there are more than just two people in charge:???? ???? ????? ???? ???? ???? ???? ??? ????????, whats more, a lot of that people dont actually do much since they are all pretty close, and are the eva staff and Anno´s wife, however there are two people that change the game , those are Ohtsuki and Kawada, who owns Nico Nico, those guys have business to do and dont want any trouble with doing an EVA thats difficult to sell, and its pretty hard to say no to the people with money.
sorry It has been a lot of time talking about this but im afraid Its not that important to keep in the discussion right now, I dont care if you just disregard anything of what I wrote since I didnt even post any proof, but I will try to post something from that book about 2.0 later in the day, probably in another thread,If its that I think Its worth the effort of digging, because I suppose you will agreed with me in that no one will care of what I post anyways.
???? ???? ????? ???? ???? ???? ???? ??? ????????
also, please dont link me in anyway to Spain, thanks, from where I come from they teach me to not fight over movies or things that could make people resort to unneccesary violence, like games, till another day
Also, it wasnt supposed to have that list of names twice sorry.
Evangelion isn't difficult to sell in the first place. Not even 3.0. Some people try to downplay it, but it's more focused with fanservice and pleasing fans than the other two.
The other two have a balance to them, developing the story and characters evenly without going totally overboard, after all Shinji, Rei, Asuka is almost killed or worse during the movie.
It is all very equal, yes?
But 3.0 is focusing intensively on Kaworu and Shinji's relationship here, or rather not their relationship, but the symbolism, service and what it could be. In itself just in 3.0, they are a shallow duo. They have no connection, no agreements, no opinions or mutual development together that means they have a story.
The story/connection etc... they do have is entirely "off screen", as in it's left up for the viewer to discern, and it's supplied with romantic symbolism - which makes it the perfect pitch for people who are into BL. Which gives us 3.0 - a movie that does less development, less elaboration than the previous two, even when it was expected of EVA that there'd be more.
Remember that in the same stretch of NGE, the middle portion, it was where it was thickest with characterization.
Now where am I going with this? The market for BL and shipping is enormous. So 3.0 is not hard to sell. It's incredibly easy to sell because pairings in anime are already incredibly popular, and Kaworu x Shinji is VERY popular, and it only got more popular and lucrative after 3.0.
The stuff with Ohtsuki is just a red herring. Not disregarding what you're writing here, and we're not fighting either.
It's just text, no fists flying.
But do excuse me if I get aggravated if people are positive about what is most surely the ruination of much of Evangelion's qualities. It's a sneaky maneuver of Anno's to make sure his greatest work is catering to his own fetishes, while damning the rest.
