If we could put aside waifus and schoolgirls for five seconds I'd like to talk about how the anime fucking nailed his character and the manga made him look like a stupid, cheating asshole.
That reminds me, does Chihaya have a canon school girl uniform?
in the manga, he cheated in his chess match with Gozaburo, but in the anime he just outskilled him
not to mention in Death-T every time the protags got the hang of the game, he'd suddenly change it or make it more difficult, he also stole Grandpa's Blue-Eyes in their very first duel in order to beat Yugi
why is manga Kaiba such a faggot but anime Kaiba is the slickest bad ass of all time?
I liked that sub-season a lot, though, how the dedicated it to Kaiba and Mokuba's backstory rather than a brief flashback in the manga, not to mention Kaiba got to duel Gozaburo so they could find out who is superior once and for all.
In case you didn't notice, Duelist Kingdom is up on Netflix.
Everything after Fusion monsters broke the game, and even some fusions are pushing it. You used to have to woe to get your monsters out on the field. Then thanks to GX, some top-class fusions only required same attributes. Synchros just needed star add-ups and appropriate monster types. Now you can take any old monster and trade him in for a field fucker of galactic destruction. Its lazy, annoying, and it doesn't require any skill so its everyone's favorite move.
Synchro and Xyz were dope as fuck. Fusions have been shit outside of 3 decks ever. Shaddolls, Hero Beat, and Cyber Dragons
Before GX whoever summoned Summon Skull first won.
I got the pendulum starter deck, and the rules regarding pendulum summons are so fucking vague, even on the wiki. What I got from it is
>if you have pendulum monsters in your zones with levels 1 and 9 you can special summon (pendulum summon) any amount of monsters from your hand or your extra deck* (*if it is designated on the card it can be summoned in this way) with levels between 2 and 8
>SS 3 Blue-Eyes in one turn
am I getting this right? How is this not a game-changer? Granted I haven't played at all since they've come out
I actually liked Synchros when they came out, they were fun to use while some of the later ones are pretty broken albeit they're relatively difficult to summon, but Xyz monsters I never liked. Never used Fusions much, they didn't become even usable til GX and I usually played dinosaurs and dragons so there wasn't a lot of useful fusions related to either of those monsters that would make a deck better than not having them
Synchro I liked a lot, but Xyz were shit, I got used to them but I still don't like them very much. It was just a gimmick like, "ooh, look at this new kind of card! it's black" where as synchros at the time were an awesome new twist. Xyz monsters imo were just rehashed synchros that didn't need to exist. Maybe if they came out first it would have been different, but
no idea, but when I read it I was like, "Kaiba, you're a fucking faggot," whereas in the anime when Kaiba beat Gozaburo fair and square I was like, "wow, Kaiba you are a fucking god"
Pendulums suck as a mechanic right now.
Every time I read this, it has to from someone who has never played against Yata Lock, or Chaos, or whatever before 2007 and has never actually played the game since.
>How is this not a game-changer?
Because there are a million better ways to get Blue Eyes out and using up your entire hand to summon 3 normal 3000 atk monsters is just asking to get your ass handed to you, just like it was 15 years ago.
The great advantage of pendulum summon is that pendulum monsters go in the extra deck when destroyed and can be resummoned the next turn.
The between part is exclusive, meaning scales 2~8 only summon monsters with level 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.
Also, I've found most Pendulum Monsters are dead draws in hand. Sure, they've got searchers up the ass, but you gotta wait until you have a matching pair of scales.
A good deck would just summon a couple of big monsters and set an assload of facedown traps to cover them.
Also, Apoqliphort Tower/Killer is beaten by battle or negating its summon. It's not too hard.
Soon as they came out I stopped playing. I go through phases, Pokemon Phase, Smash phase, and YGO phase. YGO was just winding down around the time Pendulum came out and the announcement of Sm4sh got me geared up to play some last rounds of Brawl before the new one comes out.
So, are you at a disadvantage if you don't have pendulum monsters in your deck a la not having Xyz or Synchro might be a disadvantage? What is the meta like right now?
>why is manga Kaiba such a faggot but anime Kaiba is the slickest bad ass of all time?
Because the mangaka never liked him and he wanted to push Bakura as Yugi's rival but the nip kids fucking love Kaiba and the anime staff exploited it. The mangaka also wanted to make YGO about diferent games though.
>Pendulums suck as a mechanic right now.
It's quite enjoyable in normal monster decks.
It's funny to push out several 2500 ATK beaters while your opponent is crippled by Skill Drain.
>So, are you at a disadvantage if you don't have pendulum monsters in your deck
Absolutely not. As someone mentioned above, the only competitive deck that runs pendulum is Qliphorts, and that has more to do with the archetype itself being broken. Maybe this will change once more pendulum cards are introduced, but it's very doubtful.
What they should do is make a game for consoles/PC, maybe even handhelds now that the online is streamlined, that contains all the cards and when new cards or mechanics come out you can download a patch to get the new cards
rather than coming out with YGO games every year like EA or some shit
>tfw no Yu-gi-oh! Kai that fixes the game rules, shortens the duels and focuses on the plot
Use Spellcasters. Trance is a 26 beat and with Dragon Horn Hunter, he gets better. You can search both with that Blue Dragon Summoner guy too.
I like using Gemini monsters, but it's hard explaining to people what a gemini summon is.
You just got me chubbed for YGO again. Gonna go check out the new packs to see if I can beef-up my deck.
buyfags a best
DBZ Kai is cancer, but the YGO anime I think could actually benefit from something like that. Thanks a lot faggot, this will never happen.
>buying Tag Force for the card games
That's just stupid.
Also you know the "patches" will become card DLC in an online model, right? Just play YGOPro or Dueling Network.

am I a shit?
thanks, m8o, it definitely needs some sprucing-up, though
stealth deck thread? stealth deck thread
everyone post deck
Soul Charge did indeed get limited.
Your deck seems to be a little all over the place, but I can see what you're doing with it. It's alright. Ditch lightning vortex unless dropping cards from hand to grave is that important to you. Raigeki is actually limited last I saw. I'd recommend maxing out on Dragon tuners and level 8 dragons to make best use of Trade in and Cards of Consonance, but that's just my preference.
wow, yeah like I said, haven't touched YGO since pendulums and haven't checked the Forbidden list either, pretty fucked how Raigeki is back, tbh, but I'll definitely swap Vortex out for that
No, Raigeki is a godsend. Even before pendulums, many decks could just shit out a fuckton of monsters onto the field and ruin your day.
As long as they don't have Stardust Dragon, Raigeki serves as an answer to not getting gang raped. Assuming they didn't already OTK you.
Please, no. Future Fusion was hit because it lets you dump a fuckload of cards you don't even want into your graveyard. Brionac is made overpoweringly good due to all the archetypes that generate constant hand advantage too. Stop living in the past.
Stratos coming back is a bit hard with RotA and E-Call unlimited.
But I like the broken rules in season 1. Remember when Mammoth Graveyard was fused with Blue Eyes Ultimate to gradually weaken it? That was fun times.
Now we got action duels and the MC shouting Ladies and Gentlemen all the friggin time.
Ah, worms got hit pretty hard with its loss, huh? You can use Xex and Yagan to make King of Feral Imps to search out other worms now, but that doesn't help Zero at all.
Fuck you, I enjoy his theatrics.
Also, loose rules on the TV show leads to scrubs showing up and saying shit like "Fusion monsters can't attack the turn they're summoned!" or "Two of my monsters attack at the same time, their combined attack runs over your Blue-Eyes whatever!" and the all famous "I deflect your Mirror Force with MY Mirror Force!"
