Log Horizon thread
"ringing blade Haganemushi - A legendary short sword that causes any armor it strikes to instantly rust away, earning it the name Haganemushi, or "metal-eating bug." Any blade it clashes against grows duller with each blow"
>Could have used it to instantly destroy the guard armor
>Instead change the flavor text so it becomes shit
Chapter 17 with all the fixes mentioned in the last thread, feel free to put on batoto or whatever
man if Henri's say all dem Akatsukis she might literally explode
Why did they remove her bust? Why does DEEN hate her so much?
I enjoyed it more than ALO and GGO, but now with the SAO segment of ALO back I am starting to like it more than Log Horizon. I am kind of tired of all these crazy gamebreaking things happening out of convenience for the group.
And yet they keep encountering world defining things they can exploit, yet aren't. I am sure as fuck that if Shiroe was there he would be modifying all his gear with flavor text that made him unstoppable. Hes the only person in this show acting like a real raider/player would.
Because DEEN contracts out to Filipino animation studios, which are even cheaper than Korean ones, and they don't care about on-model animation. That's why Marielle's hair changes every episode.
I don't know whether I'm a slowpoke or not but I just realized that the reason the name is acting funny is because it's switching between Rugurius and the royal guard name
Akatsuki a cutie
I want everything un-DEEN.
She is the best girl with the best OTP
She really is.
I know the past couple of episodes have rubbed a few people up the wrong way but for me it was nice to see pretty significant and meaningful character development accross multiple episodes. It wasnt rushed and the payoff was great.
And the buildup and execution were pretty fucking faithful to the novels which was also awesome.
The first season was well directed, its pacing wasn't all over the place, and it was actually fun to watch.
I know it's Deen, and I shouldn't have expected much, but it's appalling how subpar this season is.
It didnt have to be. It was just more appropriate as it was intialy focused around and directly involved Raynessia and the group of people assigned to look after her who happened to be all women.
Anyways, Souji was there. Thats all the man that that raid needed.
Akatsuki being awesome and cute as fuck asside, another little awesome feature of this episode was all the nods and cameos it gave to other characters and classes.
Kawara and that delay punch move were particularly awesome.
Where did her tits go?!
The raid was supposed to consist of the tea party members, they never openly recruited.
I imagine the change was so they could do some cameo's.
She assassinated my heart
does she have a name?
>shorts and tank top
Marielle had pretty much oom'd at the end from healing Akatsuki so frequently.
And that is on top of Akatsuki getting heals at every checkpoint from every other healer. Akatsuki can take three hits from him at most. That was what they were relying on and created a bare bones strategy around.
>does she have a name?
Seine, her class is swashbuckler.
The secret to them was pretty dumb, pic related.
That's the point, Akatsuki even says it, the moment you realize this isn't a game anymore it's when you are able to surpass your limits. There's probably an unlimited number of Teachings/Overskills, you just need to think.
That move is pretty fucking awesome.
I'd like to see her use it in another setting. I can see it essentially one-shotting any other adventurer or equivalent or lesser level unless they are a full Tank-spec Guardian.
You cant teach them because they are specific.
They are a combination of their character skills, imagination, creativity and personal skill they already had. There are unlimited possibilities for them.
Or, y'know, she is just growing as a character and a person.
Gotta love how there is always one faggot who "disagrees" with something that should be a universally welcomed thing.
Shiroe knows that she is awesome. Lacking in confidence, sure but has a fuckload of potential.
He considers her one of the best Assassins he knows. Now she has raid gear and experience, Im sure she'd make a welcome addittion to any raid team he forms in the future.
Thanks for everything.
FYI page 9 panel 4 it says 'hapen' instead of 'happen' and in page 24 panel 2 it says 'encouiraged' rather than 'encouraged'.
Less importantly, Dolce's lines in page 15 panel 3 and Serara's first line in page 25 panel 3 are off-center.
Sara a qt.
It's all on batoto?
Why play a game if you're not even going to try every feature?
the 'teachings' were kind of stupid too.
"I'm small and agile. Wait maybe I should try to use it to my advantage? I never thought of that, yet I'm lvl 92 durrr"
With the magic circle deactivated wouldn't that mean the Royal Guards are no longer active? I can't see Nureha not exploiting that to her advantage.
That was mostly because Akatsuki was a shy girl who couldn't really join up with guilds or a large enough party to do them.
And I think that's the point of the teachings. They're kind of obvious and stupid in hindsight but you'll never figure them out if you keep thinking of the game in terms of plain game mechanics.
>Have all kinds of cool ideas for log horizon fanfic stories in northern Europe
>Can't draw nor write stories proper
Feels database man.
>implying HorribleSubs translate
It had the effect that removed durability, yeah. That's not the flavor text though. The whole point of it is that flavor texts are becoming real, if that occured to that sword it'd be way better.
"Overskill" is even used inside the novel as an alternative name for such things from western playes. So it's a canon term, I can't see why won't they use it. I guess CR translators aren't even remotely familiar with the source material. Well that was obvious after "spies from south"/
>Marielle not being useless in the sidelines like always
I like it.
>Dat Reverse Trap Enchanter
>Dat Black Haired Elf (Seine)
Good thing best girl is coming back next week; I am getting tired to watch feminists in town trying to act tough.
my boner was please with all the tom boy voices this episode
Quick anon, let's find someone to do a campaign of the trpg with us. You give the story, I'll draw and we try to push our shit before Kanami's arc airs to see if we appear in it.
>Okay, so should we try to defeat him without destroying the magic circle first, and use that as a backup plan?
>No, we have to get this sorted by new years.
>Why was that again?
>Because if we wait until after new years DDD and Shiroe will return and solve the problem for us.
>Okay, well we can't have that. So we're just going to destroy the magic circle then.
>Right, let's go do it.
>No wait, we shouldn't do it now. We should wait until after we've already dropped him to like 20% hp.
>That's a great idea. Wait until we've almost already killed him without destroying the magic circle and THEN destroy it. He won't see THAT coming.
This is what happens when you leave women in charge.
Wow, the previous text seems to be so much better than this shit.
It isnt nerfed at all. It still has the same effect.
Tatara editing the flavour tet didnt change how the sword functions. It was only able to destroy Byakumaru because of this effect
Bitch, Shiroe made someone immortal with some paper.
He'd fucking invent some kind of armor disenchanting scroll to turn the royal guard armor into scrap or uncover some secret of the Kunie clan he could leverage against them. Or he'd devise some plan to lure him out of the city or something.
Well that last episode was the best this season for me at least.
No one actually dislikes her, it was all banter.
Nah, it was both armor and weapons.
Hell, the description here >>117311622 seems to be even better, because if "Stealing" is taking literally, that means that the weapon not only decays the opponent's armor and weapon, but it also repairs itself while doing so.
She is a guy who played as a girl who is very nervous about it all now.
Hence the line
>"I've never been in a slumber party before"
Because of course as a guy, she never would have.
I love that she has completely opened up and is much more amicable.
She has a really lovely and cute yet slightly goofy personality that really shines through now that she is happy and chilled with people
Whatever it hits, essentially. Fighting her one on one would be a horrible pain in the ass to do. It would end with you being whittled down at a crazy speed without anything to mitigate it.
Hell, I imagine the Shaman/Kannagi barrier is the only thing that can defend against its effect.
Akatsuki is if you're fighting an army of gankers with Scraping Spears with the DPS of a fully powered Meat Cleaver or whatever it's called (the giant butcher knife boss weapon)
You mean the one where people pretend that Deen hasn't been much worse than Satelight?
Not that Satelight was all that great either.
Only faggots use "meme" like this, anon.
>They are a combination of their character skills, imagination, creativity and personal skill they already had
No, that's just a silly copout excuse so Akatsuki didn't immediately figure out what overskills where so she could agonize over it longer. It's like saying
>Hey man, this steak you made is amazing. Mind telling me how you cooked it?
>No, I can't just TELL you. The way I cook is a unique combination of my cooking skills, imagination, creativity and persona skill that I already have. It's not something I can just tell someone else :^)
As long as another person has the required character class and pre requisite skills you use in your overskill there's no reason why you can't teach them barring just being a shitty teacher.
I really need to read the LN because this is still confusing the shit out of me. For sub roles are they now able to grind more than one sub specialization to max level?
It's mentioned average people can now all make low tier food like salad or something but are they limited to that? It seems incredibly annoying that in this world if you're not a scribe and try to write something down with a too high level pen it will explode or something.
limited to that for now I suppose
from the direction this is going, subclasses might become unrestricted
maybe something like
I'm not the cooking subclass, and I can cook at a decent level, but I can never cook at the level that someone in the cooking class can.
It takes awhile for Adventurers to not in the subclass to learn, but those who picked it will learn it faster.
>Sub class: Feudal Lord
Does this mean you can rule over lander scum?
That wasn't what I meant, it just occurred to me that if Vampire is a subclass it would only be natural for there to be a Lycanthrope subclass too. Gotta have your Vampire/Lycanthrope feud somehow.
>Nobody has abused game mechanics to create an army of undead adventurers and landers to take over the world
>tfw you will never be a lol necromancer lich queen.
Why didn't she use the dagger to break the armor?
Why did they break the fucking protection system when they had a knife that breaks armor fucking retards fuck. This is why you don't put women in charge of shit. Shirou wouldn't have fucked up this bad.
Just imagine it anon, you're sitting inside your little shadow or ice palace eating curry and surrounded by numerous undead hand maidens, landers moan and adventurers beg you to free them. An army of Adventurers arrive at your door step only to be slaughtered by their friends and added to your ranks.
>thousands of people live in akiba
>none of them curious enough to watch the battle
>or just wanna get close to raid boss
i thought this anime is based on mmorpg.
If it is, noobs will be swarming the raid boss and try to attack it. Then die horrible death by 1-shotted skills.
>I fucking hate lolis in almost every show
>not having your minions hold back on purpose until the adventurers get far in
>not picking out the one you like most and taking him alive while having his friends and everyone else get killed
>not lovingly mindbreaking him until he gives in and licking his tears while forcing him to listen to his undead companions cries
>has highest attack power, supposed to have low hp
>10k hp and mp
>can dodge shit and tank raid boss
elder balance tales ppl
Damaging him is meaningless if he can just warp out at any time, they need him to hold still. Plus I assume the damage to the weapon can be repaired as long as he's not currently fighting.
>be back liner
>be master strategist
>lying on the floor
Assasins have mid range mp and hp. It tracks with everyone else's stats.
For tanking literally the entire raid's healing party was shoved up her ass the whole time.
Presumably he'd notice that his armour is being degraded and escape before it breaks. Though really they could have just gone with that strategy instead and the story would have written itself around it to yield just as bad of a scenario.
What some anon said is that adventurers will now be guarding the whole city from any upcoming monster npc and even bosses, which sound really interesting.
And definitely, people can start fights in the city now.
Don't worry dear anons Rita has showed me the error of my ways
>murderer rekt your jew celebration
>gather bunch of grril to stop
>grills spend days picnicking and playing with swords
>have to resort to turn off defense mechanism
>just to break a sword
thank you girls
i would still be curious and not everybody know there's raid going on. It's like world boss, it's not even instances.
there should be somebody curious enough to help or watch besides the jewgirl throwing free loot.
Can Scribes make this kind of magic scroll though ? And even if Shiroe could do it, I think that creating a scroll for some kind of magic that he doesn't even know would be troublesome, and getting the items required to create that would be a hassle. Maybe an Overskill related to that mana distributing skill or something like that could do the job, if the guard needed mana to teleport.
>kanami won't be shown before 2015
;_; i just want oppai monk
What's Goury from Slayers doing in Elder Tales?
it's better this way
>Adventurers are now paid by the Round Table to guard and patrol the city (once the Round Table gets money or invents IOUs)
>Adventurers now have more to do, more jobs are opened
I wonder what Henrietta thinks of Akatsuki's new armor. I think it's not as cute as her old armor. I always wondered if her pants were baggy because she reused them from when she was a dude.
My name is Naotsugu, and I hate every single one of you. All of you are fat, retarded, no-lifes who spend every second of their day looking at stupid ass pictures. You are everything bad in the world. Honestly, have any of you ever gotten any pussy? I mean, I guess it’s fun making fun of people because of your own insecurities, but you all take to a whole new level. This is even worse than jerking off to pictures on facebook.
Don’t be a stranger. Just hit me with your best shot. I’m pretty much perfect. I was captain of the football team, and starter on my basketball team. What sports do you play, other than “jack off to naked drawn Japanese people”? I also get straight A’s, and have a banging hot girlfriend (She just blew me; Shit was SO cash). You are all faggots who should just kill yourselves. Thanks for listening.
Pic Related: It’s me and my bitch
So wait, based on the Kunie guy's words this episode, was there even any point in Shiroe starting up that raid now? It sounded like he was implying he'd rather pay the debt to Shiroe instead.
I know everyone was super disappointed about the lack of dorf beard, but I would like to point out that Tatara could still have a beard thick enough to make Gimli blush
down there. I bet it's all braided and shit too.
>Why did they break the fucking protection system when they had a knife that breaks armor fucking retards fuck.
They couldn't be certain of whether or not it would work, especially when it's left up to a scrub ninja chuuni.
They don't have the luxury of learning from their mistakes since they were also dealing with an intelligent Lander, and things would have already gone further south if it weren't for Akatsuki's sudden realization of her Overskill.
>Rieze considered the worst case scenario.
>She worried that the Murderer who possessed the abilities of Lugrius might no longer be an NPC. The witness testimony stated that the Murderer was called Enbart Nelles, a Samurai. This meant that apart from being cursed, he also had a human mind with the ability to learn.
>Raid quests were the contents of the game. The difficulty was high enough to wipe out the players, but the developers only set the bar high in order for the players to have a sense of accomplishment when they succeeded in the challenge. Rieze understood this because she had joined the largest battle guild in Yamato. The players who enjoyed challenging raids had a relationship of enigmatic trust with the game developers.
>But this was no longer a game called Elder Tales, and Rieze and the others were not game characters. This raid might not be beatable anymore. There was a big possibility that this was the case.
Would this possibility increase in the future? The Murderer would learn of Rieze's battle plan just by fighting them once, and he might adapt with more cunning and deadly attacks. The teleport capability and the abilities of Lugrius were a perfect combination and with the combination of these two, Rieze could only imagine the hell that would follow.
Rieze came up with a countermeasure with a good chance of success.
>But even so, there was no telling if it would work.
>Nobody will spar with Akatsuki now because of the repair bills
Nobody will invite Akatsuki on demihuman raids because she destroys a bunch of loot if she hits it with the weapon.
>I'm small and agile. Wait maybe I should try to use it to my advantage? I never thought of that, yet I'm lvl 92 durrr"
It wasn't just that. She used a movement ability and attacked during it, something that wasn't possible in the actual game.
That's one of the WWB girls, all of whom qualify as pure sex.
West Wind Brigade was a very good *small* combat guild, emphasis on the small.
No idea why Nyanta and Soujiro weren't part of the battle, maybe it was all a plan to boost Akatsuki's self esteem
The raid was mostly being dealt with by WWB.
Secondly, it might have also been that they wanted to maximize Lug's mental instability to be more dominant, so he stays constrained to the Boss raid pattern they've built the plan on, since that was their largest concern.
Wouldn't anyone interested and who didn't want to leave town just have joined them? There were a couple of girls that joined them last minute too.
Although I still don't get why the Akibaraid group ended up female-only, but whatever.
While odd I'll give it a pass cause its nice to see girls do something other than cheering on MC. Half the point of the whole thing was Akatsuki getting out of Shiroe's shadow.
I haven't been motivated to watch any of S2 since I've read the LNs.
How faithful is it so far?
I couldn't stop laughing at how fucking stupid it was when they changed the flavour text of that sword. I think the author is just a misogynist with the way he keeps portraying the women as being brain-dead.
What's wrong with changing a potentially dangerous flavor text? Especially when you're a Weaponsmith surrounded by valuables that can rust.
I'm sure people would have a different opinion of Misa's scythe if its first action was done on an enemy, never mind as to what actually happened.
>What's wrong with changing a potentially dangerous flavor text? Especially when you're a Weaponsmith surrounded by valuables that can rust.
It's no more dangerous than any other blade that can cut from my point of view, and it's certainly nothing they can afford to worry about when their other option is turning off the magics.
>I'm sure people would have a different opinion of Misa's scythe if its first action was done on an enemy, never mind as to what actually happened.
I'm not sure what the scythe actually did or what the flavour text on it is. Surely it's pretty obvious that it would be dangerous like "steals the soul of the wielder" or something?
It's unlikely that the sword had the flavor text active at the time. Rod.Firm said that only a fraction of the items that they investigated had displayed flavor-related effects in the first place. The changing of the world is gradual. Tatara felt bad that the sword with a crazy flavor text she gave to the Lander caused this problem. Why would she hand out more swords that can potentially cause problems in the future?
I'm pretty sure Shiroe's understanding of "flavor-text becoming real" wasn't "aww yeah time to find more ways to break the system."
It's a serious occurrence, that they would not be able to control; hence, he asked Rod.Firm to gather certain ones.
It was "causes calamities with a single swing." It did not specify what it would actually do.
>Why would she hand out more swords that can potentially cause problems in the future?
What problems could Haganemushi possibly cause aside from allowing Akatsuki to grief people and destroy their super rare raid drops?
She nerfed the number one most useful tool to solving their problem. If Akatsuki had destroyed Byakumaru faster they wouldn't have even needed to turn off the magic circle in the first place.
Tatara didn't change the flavortext of Haganemushi to remove a potentially-harmful effect (it still does the same thing, break down weapons/armor it touches), she changed it to add the emotionally-supportive stuff for Akatsuki.
You're mistaken. The durability decrease effect is intrinsic to the weapon. Weapons that can decrease durability will have the ability to do so with or without flavor text.
The murder's weapon corroded, rather than rusted. Changing the flavor text effectively did nothing at the time because not all flavor texts are active.
If it was active, she wouldn't have been able to modify the sword anyway-- anything that touched the blade would have rusted.
What she did was preemptively stopped it from becoming active in the future by changing it.
Sure, it would have been much more convenient if they could have just asspulled a sword capable of breaking anything and everything, but that's not how it went down.
