The official English translation couldn't get the rights to Dr Pepper?
I can clearly hear Okabe saying "Doctor Pepper." yet the only text I see is "The Doc" or "Dr P" and then I see this fucking image.
It was one of the demands that 5pb gave us.
They insisted on the following:
>Make sure the name is Luka and not Ruka (Something we were going to do anyway)
>Ensure it's Kongroo over Congroo (Something I had already been advocating for)
>Make sure it's Dr People and not Dr Pepper
>Machine translate the western version of the Future Gadget Lab website
So yeah, we complied with all those things in order to release the game.
>This Paige of English is made of efforts to expansion into west, as a making into perfect English by glorious Super Hacka with a helping of machine translation software
Really, all it's missing are a couple rows of gifs to keep the user focused and on edge.
I see, I noticed the Luka thing but it doesn't bother me any.
I didn't even notice the Kongroo/Congroo difference.
But the Dr Pepper change really ticked me off for whatever reason.
I still can't stand to hear "Doctor Pepper!" and see something completely different.
I don't know why they'd object to the free advertisement.
Dr Pepper became my favorite soda thanks to the anime.
Odd, considering Dr. Pepper really could use the exposure. I want every supermarket to have "Dr. Pepper" as it's own category of drink in the drinks isle.
Absolutely. It goes much more in depth than the anime, and is very enjoyable.
>I don't know why they'd object to the free advertisement.
Because they don't want to be associated with something that they don't have enough clout over to control. If there's anything that becomes media grade objectionable, the constant use of their brand would be harmful to them by association.
I keep getting achievements for just reading the VN, why?
I looked up to see if it's on steam, nope.
What are these achievements for?
How am I supposed to brag that I watched Kurisu die?
Steins;Gate was original on the Xbox 360 and microsoft REQUIRE you to add achivements. They had to cram them in there in order for Microsoft to allow the game to be released on the 360.
When porting to the PC they decided that they may as well just keep the achievements in it.
Guys guys, JAST USA is having a week-long sale due to their site redesign (which includes the ability to download instantly after purchase). The digital version of Steins;Gate is only $22.49! http://www.jastusa.com/catalog/product/view/id/346/category/10
J-List also has a new "Best Edition" (which I assume just means a slightly different package) for $29.99. http://www.jlist.com/product/SG001A
If you haven't bought it yet, show your support and give it a read!
inb4 people accuse me of being Peter Payne
Is it so horrible of me to want 5pb. to officially support localizations of more Science Adventure games? Especially for those that are only on consoles, which have little to no chance of fan translation.
The real question is, are you a brave man?
