Shipping out week edition
Its time to start mailing everything if you haven't already.
Remember that if you know your gift will be delayed, please notify your recipient and/or the Secret S/a/nta organizers so that you don't get blacklisted.
Please give your packages at least one week to reach your recipient since the post system will be swamped horribly the closer to Christmas it gets. Try to ship on or before December 17. It may seem painfully obvious, but there is no mail delivery on Christmas Day. Receiving the gift post-Christmas takes a lot of the spirit out of the occasion.
If you haven't mailed it out yet, do it NOW. Good luck, buddy.
I received an anonymous card. Thank you very much, kind anon from IL! This is a masterpiece.
Sorry jesus of /a/ and other anons, no gifts from me this year. 5 asuka gift requests and Yui request, nty. Was thinking about just smearing shit on a card, but that takes effort. Hopefully I don't get grinched though.
BGfrom AM in NLyou should have gotten an e-mail from the organisers your packet will be there in 2-3 days jebus you got my email
Mr. Jose, I'll be mailing your gift by this week, so get ready for FedEx to drop it in front of your door or suite or whatever the fuck SPC stands for.
i like the card and the little snowglobe thing, nice work. Makes me feel kind of bad for sending my guy two pieces of paper stapled together with his waifu taped to the front.
Probably should have mentioned that I like Rei more, but shit, I'd be a Marifag for free gifts. I feel like a kid sitting here and forcing myself from opening them, thanks a lot.
>On or before December 17
The second part of my gift has an arrival date of December 16
to January 8.
I hope it arrives early so I can send everything at once.
PPfrom Nebraska, sorry if your gift is two parts. Also, we have the same first name WOW.
WMGin GA, the last part of your gift is still on its way. Should be here within a couple days, and I'll try to have everything wrapped up and out to you within a week of that.
ASfrom Ireland, the package is ready. I will send it soon, buddy.
I just got this card in today, thank you IL anon!!
I really appreciate the effort put into this, I cant wait to display it for the holidays.
Looks like we had the same anon who mailed out a batch of his card after Thanksgiving.
>mfw his village is so small that I can probably go door-to-door and find him in person
>tfw you're finally able to obtain your giftee's #1 wish item and it arrives earlier than expected
If you want to get really crazy and give your cardanon a gift (if they're American anyway) dunkin donuts' website has customizable and reloadable giftcards that you can mail with a greeting card.
CCfrom BronxI shipped your package a couple days ago. The lady at the post office told me it should be there around next Monday.
Got the last part of my stuff yesterday, shipping either tomorrow or friday depending if I have time to make it to the post office on my break.
Should I have made cards by now?
Was planning on doing them this weekend.
dont feel like editing out stuff. but here it is.
Cards (mailed as letters) take less time to show up compared to packages, but you should do them ASAP since it's common for people to open them immediately and display them through December for festive spirit.
I hope my anons is the type to open cards before hand, since I wrapped all his presents in his package individually, so it would be a shame for him to have the ugly package under the tree, when he could display the pretty ones I've wrapped.
send a message to the organizers, with a message to your assignment saying you wrapped everything individually, that's what I did, since I added my spoils of my visit to the local chocolate factory, no need to let them spoil
Oh shit it figures you'd be a Reifag but I hope you at least don't completely hate Asuka lol.
Anon you can open it. There's a little wrapped gift inside with something extra. I'm not your santa either I'm just a card anon that added a small gift to my cards.
K3of CAI was sick for half a month and just got the money from the other half. Your gifts are ordered and on their way. I hope they are not late.
Neither, I just wanted to spread christmas cheer!
Make chocolates, carve something, sculpt and bake clay, do paper cut art, screen printing, git gud at drawing, etc
I think you can see improvement in most hobbies in a year provided that you research and invest some time in them.
o really wow thanks anon! I wouldn't of even mind if this was the real /ss/ gift.
i was hoping it was not too late.
I was so caught up with finals and work that i totally forgot about getting into secret santa.
>order stuff off amazon
>package at the door
>open it thinking it was the stuff I ordered
>mfw it was one of my /ss/ gifts
To the anon that chose "this item is a gift" while buying on amazon, they don't actually gift wrap shit and just put the stuff in the box, add a "note" saying it's a gift and mail it in a generic brown box.
well, at least now I know that amazon doesn't giftwrap.
Sorry to the guy who wanted suiseiseki. japs didnt allow me to buy a sick figurine for you. but i'm still sending you a car cookies and a cheap related item. i id try to get you something cool though ;_;.
just wanted to tell him that (if he is even viewing this thread) before the other thing i ordered him arrives.
(and i didnt get my money back on the damn figure i tried to buy you either.)
on another note, what are some foodstuffs that do well through mail?
Well, shit, I should probably get these sent out, then.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get nearly as many done as last year, due to the combination of school and work, so if you're part of the secondary exchange, don't expect anything before January.
And I'm sorry for not wrapping it; this shit comes from overseas, so it would not make it in time if I were to ship it to myself, wrap it, and then send it again to you, as I am leaving overseas on the 16th and the items aren't scheduled to ship until the 12th.
>Live with parents
>They think I bought gifts for them
fuck this is going to be awkward on Christmas
How long does ground shipping take for 2 states away? The shitters I bought some of my gifts from didnt ship them until today, so I probably wont be able to send them out until the middle of next week
One more week until this gets here :(
Hopefully it fits in one of those USPS priority mail boxes since they don't charge for weight and I'm gonna stuff the rest of the space up with coal.
It's for GM from TX if you're watching this thread
>USPS priority mail boxes since they don't charge for weight
You mean a large flat-rate box, right?
Unfortunately, she won't fit. The shortest side of her box is 6.3" and the USPS Large Flat-Rate Box is 5.5" tall (6" on the outside). You're going to need something else.
Uh do any of you have the box and can do a quick double check of the box's shortest side? I tried finding pictures but there was nothing to compare her to so I couldn't find the dimensions. A lot of sellers also just listed her dimensions out of box as well.
I'm in the process of wrapping all my presents and finishing all my cards. Should have everything sent out Saturday.
Is anyone else preparing things for the people you got last year?
>Inside Dimensions: 12" x 12" x 5-1/2"
>Outside Dimensions: 12-1/4" x 12-1/4" x 6"
I have about 20 of those piled in my storage and I can verify the measurements.
I'm guessing that you are thinking of the large Priority mail boxes USPS also provides that are 12" X 12" X 8", but they do NOT qualify for flat-rate.
I already sent out my gift, and I'm sending out the cards tomorrow, I didn't have the time to make elegant cards so I whipped up something fast.
I did however put in something nice for the lack of effort. I'm sure they'll appreciate it!
I have almost everything ready for my anon now. Just waiting on one more keychain of his waifu to come in and I'll throw in a few more random trinkets.
Presents are wrapped and ready to send out.
Hope you like this, anon.
>2 presents in the other room
Are you sending him a box full of cockroaches?
just now. Ok, I guess he just forwarded without confirming. good to know, thank you
I have the gift all wrapped but I still haven't made a card. Do you think they'll mind if it's just a short message and not something big or funny like the rest of you guys are doing?
I don't want the guy to think I'm an uncaring jerk
I still need a bit more time to make my card, also need to wait until I get my pay check since I'm broke... but it shouldn't be to bad since I should get it soon and ink send it out as soon as I get my check.
Jebus, I still have your CD from last year. I made my boyfriend listen to it in the car when we were driving home from a Thanksgiving family gathering. He liked it, except for the Free! tracks. It was a wonderful start to December.
Eh, it's Christmas. I'm glad you guys enjoyed it and I hope you stay together for a long time.
It came in already? Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it.
Late assignments sent out! Have fun if you signed up! You'll always be on time to me!
Mof NSWI have your gift and your card is nearly ready and I'll mail your stuff early next week. It's shipping domestically so don't worry about receiving it late.
I've seen you post about this before faggot. Whether you're legit or not, it's obvious that you're just an attention whore trying to incite paranoia among other anons. To which I say:
fuck you and fuck anyone worrying about being grinched
To incite paranoia.
What? You can't feel paranoid anymore after sign-ups? Haven't you seen the number of desperate anons trying to get the attention of their /ss/ and get them to mention them or something to abate their worries?
There is at least a handful of ignorant anons who think the person they're giving to = the person they're receiving from, and then there are selfish anons who refuse to give until their own gifts have arrived because of various reasons, including a misled sense of fairness and "I don't want to be out of money/left with nothing".
The point of those mean-spirited posts is play to paranoia and further deter people from properly completing their participation.
It's in human nature to be greedy and fearful, on top of an anonymous board where there's no real way to punish offenders. A lot of people here are somewhat socially challenged as well.
jesus christ anon
>use like a regular colored pencil
>dip a small brush in water, wet the colored areas with brush, and watch magic unfold as your shitty colored drawing turns into a shitty watercolored masterpiece.
Don't load too much water in your brush and don't use regular copy paper unless you want holes and wrinkles in your card.
It's usually done to get an intense color from your pencils. You can also draw on wet paper (like the part you just brushed with water)
Check the box. Some brands advise against dipping the pencils in water.
Imagine her face when she gets the gift
>$20 at this point
So basically you squandered all your money because you're a retard. You never had any initiative to save in the first place or else you'd have some funds for an actual gift.
>watch magic unfold as your shitty colored drawing turns even shittier
Fuck anon, that's my top fear ;_;
I will try the water thing now and post back if my card hasn't turned into literal shit when all of the colors run together.
A girl who's only stipulation is "something cute"? She didn't even list any favorite anime or characters?
I'd be suspicious if I were you.
Not that I'd grinch her or anything. The cutest dildo you can find, maybe?
Package just arrived from Japan a few days ago but the fucking post shop closes at 5:30 so I can only pick it up on Friday. Hopefully I'll get it posted out back to Japan on Saturday.
Got my first card too! Thank you, anon!
>Homeless because of dodgey tradesmen
>May be 50 odd grand out of pocket at the end of this because of him
>Still haven't sent out cards or presents
>Only saving grace is that my present recipient is in my country
Don't put words in my mouth you disgusting prick of a grinch. I'm poor, attempted to get a job and still wasn't able to do much with my wasted time as I intended and that is all I'm going to say to satisfy that crook in your spine.
Whelp, as I feared, the water thing gave Mami a black eye. I should've inked after applying water. It's too late to fix it. Some poor anon will have to deal with a splotchy meguca, I'm sorry.
What the hell anon, you should at least set aside an hour or two of your time for experimenting with your watercolor pencils, and especially because it's your first time using it.
Can't you at least redraw and recolor again? And learn from your mistakes this time?
Just collected it from the frame shop while on break. Sending it over once i clock off for the day. I would send food as well but your country has strange restrictions in regards to that.
BF of aus. You are in good hands
I don't think the grinched proportion was that big. If one of the santa organizes was around, they can give a better idea. They answered the question before and it was under 10% or something like that.
I think I'm done with this card. I'd probably wind up with similar results if I redrew it. A few more things went wrong other than the ruined eye. The cardstock absorbed a lot of water and got all bent, too. At least it's not for my main anon.
Not him, but a lot of people get this way about things they make. I can't even look at some of the things I made anymore, because I constantly see all the little fuckups that I made that most people won't even notice.
mfw I will never draw like this
>you will never have a hand painted painting of you're waifu
I did get a really nice frame of her with some embroidery on it, can't get enough handmade crafts of you're waifu on them.
It's worse when you can draw a little better, because the mistakes become even more pronounced in contrast. At least when you're an average artist on 'a/, you can ignore actual quality of art and go for quality of idea and joke.
About to send out my cards. Hope my card anons won't be too disappointed at my shoddy workmanship.
Very tricky. Actually found that out on my phone when reading the emails since the backdrop isnt fully white.
how many do you have to make ?
Two packages arrived two days ago and are waiting for me to pick up. One should be the gift for my assignment and the other might be my gift from my /ss/. I'm so excited
It's also my birthday on the 13th so it feels more like a birthday gift that's come early
update, now that I have the materials I needed I can now begin working on prototypes.
alright...so! adjusts glasses one more time*
Name : CK. (Cheesecake)
Name : J.M
Name : L.B
Name : R.Q
Name : Z.C
Name : F.E
Name : K.S
Name : K.H
Guys again, I had some complications with Amazon, to sum things up UPS lost my package and I now got a replacement, so no need to panic, Like promised I'll keep my word and make sure everyone gets their stuff sent, so hang on for a little more, I am working on everyone's gifts as I write this.
so to cheer you up, here is a small update in form of a teaser for you guys. I am working on calibrating my printer and adjusting my measurements for prototypes, I want to ensure that you all get good looking cards for the holidays.
again, my bad for the delay, I'll be working on finishing up this weekend and send everything on monday. hopefully there is no more hiccups along the way.
Anon, I wanted you to post your work so I could laugh at your failure and your stupidity for not knowing how to use watercolor pencils but you made me feel bad about my own cards instead.
A number of smudges on the stars and the gift box, among others, but it's actually nice. The shine on the open eye is actually quite
I have you as my recipient as well, BC. I actually sent out your package yesterday and you should probably expect to see it around the 11th. I'm tempted to post pics but I'll let you be the first to see it. I hope you like it!
Work in progress.... I hope you at least can tell which character she is.
if you aren't Cheesecake then I already doubt it
>Being this new
>MFW The gift and the cards were shipped.
Time to use 17track.net for tracking.
Yes, provided no specific character was mention then you can go by the fact that they have no preference and your recipient will appreciate anything.
If they did not intend this then, tough luck for them for being silly.
I recognized your style.
Hidamari. He also mentioned a couple other shows and character he liked (none from the shows he mentioned though, and none of them still have merch easily available).
It's what I thought, but I wasn't quite sure. I mean even if you like some more, you can't really dislike any of the Hidamaris.
If Hidamari was mentioned when you've got all sorts of merch to choose from. Artbooks and CDs are certainly something I'd appreciate rather than just a (couple of) fig(s).
They'd probably love anything you can get them if they didn't give a MFC account/list of merch they owned.
Could be better. I moved halfway through November, and I still haven't managed to get my work area set back up, so my original gift idea is kind of out the window right now. I'm working on a temporary gift so I can actually send out something for Christmas with a note explaining that the main gift will be late.
The actual scarves are done though. I just have to get some envelopes to mail them out.
Knitting is surprisingly easy. A pair of knitting needles and some yarn can be picked up at a craft store for $15 tops, and scarves are the simplest pattern ever (Knit a row, purl a row, cut and reattach new yarn color where desired, repeat to desired length).
Yes, the first couple you do are going to be terrible, but it's more a matter of patience than anything else. I usually just read VNs on autoplay or watch my Chinese Cartoons while I work.
It really only starts to get tricky when you start working in 3D and making your own designs.I had to scrap the prototype for this one when I realized that my seam was making a curve instead of a straight line like I intended.
I'm actually super jealous of people who can draw or paint. It's one skill I've never had.
>out the window
Oh, I see what you did there.
I had some larger ideas myself also for my cardies. I've been busy as hell lately.
I hope to do something more warm & comfy for my anon however.
Have you tried crocheting? Any more or less difficult than knitting?
I was wanting to make a beanie with side flaps and some kind of animal ears(cat or mouse) for my
Too late to git gud for xmas though. Still, sounds like a neat skill to have.
Guess I could check out /diy/
>mfw the present I'm sending finally arrived two days ago and I'm wrapping it now
Still 2 out of 3 gifts need to arrive from japan. One was send out on 21th and other 25th. It should arrive around 15th and I hope it will arrive to anons door before 24th. (International shipping in Europe)
Also tomorrow getting new paycheck so I can finally start working on the 5 cards I'm sending.
Crocheting has more projects available, but I think it's slightly tougher to start. It's still easy, but you have to be more attentive to the project.
The Joy of Painting is wonderful.
>some of the gifts for my anon arrived today
>one of them has an obvious flaw despite me buying it new
>even if bought a new one, it would take until after Christmas to get to me
Fuck. Would you mind a lot if you got a manga with some damage on the cover?
Your package is almost prepared and I'll ship them out when I get my amiami package tomorrow and finish the cards. I keep procrastinating because I'm bad at art but everything should ship out by the weekend.
RSR from UK
Your gift still hasn't arrived I'm sorry about this. I will still send something to you if it doesn't get here in time, don't worry.
ML from Belgiumand BG from the NetherlandsI'll send your cards on the 12th, hope it will make there in time.
Both of my packages to anon have been delayed for two days because they're still on the fucking truck. Anybody in the postal service know why this would happen? It's only the first week of December, this kind of shit shouldn't be happening this early right?
It's got a rip close to the spine on the backcover and horizontal wrinkles from that part being folded up at some point, pic related should illustrate what I mean.
Apart from that it's obviously unread and it's the kind of damage I have encountered occasionally when buying manga from stores, but it's still kinda ugly.
My anon did say he wasn't a collector though.
And sending it delayed is something I'd rather avoid doing, because there's already something else I'll have to send later, having lost the preorder gamble.
I sent out all 4 cards today. Still waiting for the main gift to arrive.
I don't think they'll be that worried about it because there's a lot of things that could cause a book to get damaged while it's in the mail, even with buying books from Amazon it's almost impossible to get one without a ding. If they're really upset about it they can just by another for themselves later on.
I started making some bath bombs for anons so now's the waiting period and then pulling them out of their molds, hopefully they won't fall apart. There was only one bottle of citric acid at the store so I guess it was destiny to try making a batch with it.
I was hoping to get my cards done to ship them out by tomorrow, but that isnt happening. They should be done and shipped monday. I'm even taking them with me when I go over a
I had to look it up too but its these things that fizz in the bathtub.
yuno, that thing that gets dropped into the bath to scent, clean and color your water.
I'd be afraid to use an anon crafted soup due to its legitimacy and that it could contain semen in it.
> My santa has vanished from Earth.
Fuck guys I got a problem one of my anons gifts if fucked a bit its supposed to light up but the problem is its missing the little spring for the battery is there a way to fix this?
>Sent one extra gift, that I purchased on the spur of a moment directly to my /ss/
>Ask organizers to forward message about this early gift
>Dispatched on 21st of November
>Shipping shouldn't take more than 5 days
>Anon still hasn't picked it up
I'm starting to worry, whether or not is he still alive.
I guess anything will do, replace it with a string from old remote control, or something. It shouldn't be hard to fix.
Alright Ill try to figure out something with this. Thanks guys.
No i just came back from shipping a package. I used carton sealing tape.
>no duct tape
You mean this stuff, right?
I always use it to pack stuff. Why not?
Usually it just asks you to put the recipient's address, what the item is ("plastic toy" or "books" is fine, no need to fully give away the surprise) and an approximate value of the item, maybe the approximate weight if it's kind of big. You should be able to ask the person working there when you fill it out if you need help.
Welp here's one bath bomb so far. I couldn't figure out how to lay the ears flat and really messed up the front of it, but now I think I know what to do.
KB in OR is getting two envelopes since I forgot to put something in the first one.
It says you received your package on the 1st.
Feel free to open the box, because everything is individually wrapped, there are cookies in tins, and I don't think you'd want them to be stale.
Why thank you.
I'm actually having a lot of fun making cards.
I got Christmas music playing and I'm drinking Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash while I do it.
I would build an altar to her if I got that.
$20 and 20€ are very different.
What's wrong with just marking it as a gift, even if it gets checked it won't be taxed (hence gift) and as long as you're not sending anything
illegalthere's no problem.
The JJBA one came out awesome, I'm very happy about it. The angels aren't bad either and none of their noses broke this time. I made six penguins but three of them look like they're not going to make it.
I'd like to send some to cardanons but I was planning on giving my giftanon
penguins and dolphins because they like Free
oh shit that is probably me.
I'm mailing my cards out this weekend. Someone from Chile might get theirs late because a part of the card is late coming to me, I'll e-mail admin if so.
NYNC in Toronto, I've got you and I hope you like the present. I am super jealous but promise not to keep anything back.
I said $20 since this is under 20€ and leaves some space before the limit.
Gifts get charged to, at least here, but only after like 40€. It's just a higher upper limit. So if you're sending as a gift, write a value too, or it'll be checked 100%.
Unfortunately after a couple months they get kind of pocked so they should probably be used within a few weeks or so. I tested some that I made in the summer months and they still worked but they looked worse for wear.
here's what I have done for my anons, in various states of completion. I tried to jumble them together to obscure them a bit. One's missing, but she got so fucked up I have to do a lot of work fixing her before she can be seen by human eyes.
In retrospect, I'm 99% sure I marked it as a gift, so I think we're safe. My portion of the receipt doesn't show what I marked. I even was telling the lady behind the counter what sort of gifts were in it.
She said it sounds like a nice gift.
