why doesnt /a/ buy their anime? do you really hate anime this much that you cannot support it?
The resolution sucks dick, so I can't be sure, but that better not be localized shit.
I don't buy anime because there's only a few series I actually want to own and I already own them. Buying figures and manga is more my thing.
dont you want to support you're waifu anon?
>only streaming anime and paying for the privilege
Because I'm a college poorfag. My only non-essential possession is my laptop.
>don't have space for a lot of physical media.
Stop getting ripped off paying for streaming, and move into a bigger place.
You have no idea how much this phrase rustles me. You're not poor, you're just choosing to spend all your money.
>You have no idea how much this phrase rustles me. You're not poor, you're just choosing to spend all your money.
I live in country with government subsidized 3rd level education. Not everywhere is as shitty as America.
Just how much money do you think a Hikki/neet like me has to spend?
>Buying Funimation's 'remastered' DBZ DVDs/BDs
>Not enjoying Asobi ni Iku Yo!
At least it was haremshit that felt like it was taking the piss out of itself half the time.
If I actually had money and for some inexplicable reason wanted to waste it on discs of video content I'm never going to watch again in a million years, I would at least buy the Japanese BDs.
why in the world would you pay to wait for something when you can have it immediately for free?
I don't see the point of owning physical media, neither paying 500 USD to japanese studios just because I like their series
if they ever have something in patreon I'll chip in money just like I do know with other stuff
Vanity. You're not going to live 300 years, and you're not going to rewatch 1/10th of that shit.
Plus, buying western licenced shit isn't "supporting the industry". It's supporting the jews standing between you and the industry (that does not care about you anyway but sells licences to waito piggu biz for a few extra bucks).
Sometimes I feel like buying anime, but then I see the price.
I do own a few series. But it's pretty much limited to 9/10+ series. For the most part, I'd just rather get toys/statues. Toys are my biggest non-anime hobby anyway, so that just suits me better. Plus, a lot of fan subs are better/easier to use anyway, so even with the BDs, I tend to use fansubs.
I will admit though, that I did have a bit of a phase where I bought a few DVDs out of some misplaced sense of duty. I felt guilty for pirating the anime and not supporting the series in any way, plus I just had poor impulse control at the time in general. I don't regret them, but it does make my collection look kind of weird - it's only my absolute favorites for most eras, but for 2000-2010 series, all of a sudden a lot more 7/10 shows are present.
If you can find me the box to it, i will gladly buy it from you. I tried looking for the darn thing but no luck.
Your supporting Jews who buy liscenses for dirt cheap that money is then given to the head of the production companies who blow it on Japanese schoolgirls to piss in their mouths.
So no I don't support this I get my anime elsewhere along with all the majority of /a/
What a waste of money. Just get a 1 terabyte flash drive and store torrented anime almost for free and with better subs (that has already been said). If much safer and soooo much cheaper.
You missed my fucking point entirely.
I have 12TB btw. My point was about not buying it but getting it elsewhere which you clearly did if it's on your HD not in BluRays.
It's like you faggots don't even read what is written just what you want to hear.
Fuck off back to reddit normalfag
Well I actually own it, but it's a favourite of mine that I doubt I could find again. Sorry.
I know the pain of not having the boxes though, they really top off a series from a collection stand point.
Sadly not, it's a bootleg I picked up a long time ago. Luckily it was extremely cheap.
The encoding is fine, not really anything to complain about. At least the box is good.
I would pick more ABe stuff up if I had the money. I have the Texh and HR funi sets, and SEL without the box, but I'm not going to buy the ones I didn't enjoy. I'd want to pick up more art books though.
what the hell?
i dont get why people doesnt just stream it
i do it everyday on a 240p site and it works just fine
save me tons of money to buy games on christmas steam instead of 10 gb of shitty anime witch i delete later after watching
I buy the shit I like.
What I don't do is blindly buy everything because I want to "support the industry".
I pirated all of Patlabor, now I own the new releases. Not because I'm up on such a high horse that I think buying used DVDs makes a difference, but because I genuinely enjoy the series.
At the end of the day I have Legend of Galactic Heroes on my hard drive, and you have a $30 DVD set of Chaos;Head.
It doesn't seem too too bad, at least they didn't encode the thing interlaced or massacre the bitrate too badly. I'd like to see it in motion first.
Although the JP set was 7 discs I think, not 5...
That's on sale at rightstuf right now. In fact, lots of stuff is like half price or lower ATM.
I download 480p series to my android tablets 64GB external micro-SD and watch it that way.
It's amazing how small the file sizes are for mp4's.
I could literally put about 40 series just on my android at one time without worrying about space. And as for the rest I have at least 4TB free on internal and external hard drives.
Only white-guilt-beta-fags would ever feel the need to 'support the industry'
If that there really true they would also not feel the need to boast about it from the position of superiorty like the faggot OP is doing.
Please read this and stop streaming unless you have no disk space...
This is why I download from stream sites.
Also most of these points are wrong
Ever heard of adblock plus casual fag?
Do you really think megavideo is known for it's anime collection? Have you ever fucking streamed anime newfag
>not easy to find old releases
I've found 20 year old anime streaming you idiot
Do you even know how to use google?
If you fail at even /a/ you really need to kill yourself.
>Buying localized shit and thinking it actually supports the industry
Read my post I said I download usually.
I've watched shit from the 40's which you can get streaming btw. Do I need to bring that up specifically? By the way you failed to adress any of the points you know why? Because you're a casual fag and autistic.
>'Most of /a/ are teenagers who live off their parents.'
Implying most teenagers aren't legally under their parents responsibilty.
>but really I can't afford to buy everything I like.
Enjoy wasting your money on anime that you can get in the same quality downloaded online. Enjoy having your rooms filled out with expensive blurays you will watch once.
You can't be that young. I've already watched the anime I buy. I buy them because I want to own them and because they're worth buying and supporting.
I really don't care when people pirate but people who justify it and say that it helps the industry and make fun of others who do buy shit, it really fucking pisses me off. Well I assume most of these people are children.
There's no such thing as "pirating" anime. Fansubbing is how anime got popular in the West.
Stop having an autist attack, because nobody says that pirating helps the industry. Pirating and buying figures, merch, and BDs supports the industry. Not paying for shit subs and barebones releases from assholes who are just out to make as much money as possible because they have a monopoly on the licenses.
You're downloading from STREAM SITES.
This bait is too much.
Guess I found the funimation shill.
Licencors pay animation companies to release shit over here. Buying that shit supports the licencors who continue to pay animation companies to license more shit. It does technically support the industry, albeit in a roundabout manner.
being that you can EASILY get a 720p episode in ~3 min if decently seeded (being that most streamed things are relatively current) that's probably less total time than unskippable ads on most streaming sites
there is no reason to stream anything ever
and that's just the blu-rays, Aria was probably the last thing I bought on DVD since it was made in SD anyways and the chances for BDs were astronomically slim
If you're downloading, why would you do it from the worst possible source?
>I know nothing about the process but I've been brainwashed into thinking not paying for something is wrong
You could indirectly support them with a few pennies per purchase or you could directly buy it from them. Which do you think gives them more fucking money?
I didn't say that buying it directly isn't better, I just said that buying licensed shit does support them in some way. Are you so fucking braindead I have to spoonfeed you this?
Let's review what you said.
>This is why I download from stream sites.
Why the fuck would you download from stream sites when they download it from other sites? It's like getting a pirated disk of a pirated disk. It makes no fucking sense. Unless you meant watch instead of download, then fucking learn how to speak English autistic shit and get the fuck off this site.
The file is 480p which is exactly what I want for filesize reasons. I could give a fuck about 720p or 1080p.
The worst possible source is torrents, good luck with the legal implications of uploading.
torrents are faster
pay to download, or need to use some third party extension to direct rip
typically poor quality without membership
There is no reason to stream anything ever;
old stuff? Get the complete release with DVD quality with extras, dual audio (if you're into that), multiple sub options, OVAs
new stuff? Grab it 12-24 hours after release; the specific time where stream rate are shit because of high traffic
>not using adblock edge
I just got into this thread and half of it is a bunch of faggots arguing about the most stupid shit. Wasn't this about buying anime?
Get the fuck out or discuss OP's issue
A. useless; whitelisting
B. destructive; info collection
I'm a middle manager at a multi-channel marketing company, I'm not a technical person whatsoever, but I or anyone in my industry can tell you adblocker, major DNSBLs, major email client filter (verizon, gmail, etc...) algorithms are a joke; because you just become an 'approved partner', and my client's unsolicited offer is in your inbox and on the side of the webpage you're looking at.
There are teams of professionals working around the clock to foster business relationships to legally circumvent ad prevention systems and software, to stress-test existing systems to devise delivery methods which can penetrate them, and in a less legal sense; anytime you use shit like that you're running a massive risk of basically handing over all your shit in a graylist situation (in layman's terms a graylist is when you "click here to no longer receive messages" and arrived on an optout list, so fine, you wont get any more from that advertiser; per can-spam and do not call, they can be sued if you do get more; however that list is a list of active (non dead, non spamtrap, etc...) prospects which can easily be sold to another agency.
You can't win against this. Even if you think you're winning, you're not; fighting it is either accomplishing nothing or hurting you in the long run.
While Pale Moon has always been about being the Extended ESR Firefox variant, it's been getting major attention ever since Firefox's Australis crap, since it is standing strongly against it.
>trusting the cloud
>'click here to no longer receive messages'
No one other than maybe you didn't already know the implications of easily circumvented spam.
I'm a programmer I know more than you ever will about ABP and what you mention are only issues to casuals like you.
Also fuck off normal fag.
>I'm not a technical person whatsoever
And it shows you come off like a balding middle aged faggot who has no knowledge of how the World works let alone computer software. Considering you're on /a/ you have probably the most pathetic combination of traits I could think of.
I used to buy lots of DVDs when I was young, had disposable income, and the time to rewatch a series over and over. Now I only buy ones I real like or older series that are harder to find good versions of online.
Say I burned the BD ISOs of the Aniplex release to discs back when they hit the torrent sites. Are the extras worth it?
I'm also curious if they fixed the glitch in the dub audio in that one episode where Kittan says something like "that was pretty cool," on the Aniplex BD it sounded like the sound clip was corrupted or something
The overwhelming majority of prospects are 'casuals' and as far as view and click generation go the industry on the whole is stronger than ever; so we don't reach a few paranoids and special snowflakes with homemade linux boxes running POP servers for their mail.
Good for you knowing more about the technical details, I've got a dozen like you working under me.
I know senior citizens who know how to deal with spam and no you don't need linux for it.
I love watching you squirm because of how little you know about your own profession.
You needed that acceptance so badly you just had to normal fag and talk about your job and look where it got you.
>paranoids and special snowflakes with homemade linux boxes running POP servers for their mail.
You do realize you can avoid spam even on a shitty old Windows Xp desktop right?
Was that before or after you got pwned by a nigerian prince.
>'Good for you knowing more about the technical details'
>I know nothing about computers quick let's try to make having any intelligence a negative trait
>'I've got a dozen like you working under me'
I> have to not look like a faggot somehow now..quick time to normalfag that'll work
>>Are you fucking new m8?
Your job is to run a group of email scammers?
Wow do you do this from your moms basement?
>using some Bluray.com faggot's image
you clearly completely missed the point; whether that was intentional cherry picking to "oh I'll show him" or you didn't grasp the big picture is beyond me.
"The overwhelming majority of prospects are 'casuals' and as far as view and click generation go the industry on the whole is stronger than ever"
congratulations on your grandma not using email for anything other than personal correspondence, or you simply knowing to just set mailbox rules so it blackholes instead of bouncing.
'by the numbers' you don't matter. It's the billions of people with dozens of social media and shopping accounts who clicked on surveys for this and that.
And I don't believe this was a discussion about email spam; it was about adblocker. these 'third party' things aren't out there for the sake of goodwill, and what I was saying is if you don't know enough about it yourself, getting a black box that claims to address can be useless or potentially harmful.
>oh I'll show him
>hese 'third party' things aren't out there for the sake of goodwill
This is the real reason you are a faggot you can't keep your story straight. You literally admit that you believe I wasn't aware of what ABP does and at the same time say I am the one who whill show him.
Choose faggot you can't have it both ways.
I hate to tell you but you'r 'business' won't be profitable in 5 years, you really should have learned a real life skill instead of a shitty scam.
Will you normalfags shut the fuck up I want to talk about waifu's and mangak and anime blurays.
Can you both take your fucking egos somewhere else to /b/ maybe where anyone actually cares.
You're honestly worse than tripfags
Do you even know what an API is?
Because it sounds like you're attempting to understand it. You do realize that practically all Google extensions for Browsers like Chrome, for Android, for IOS etc utilize this in the same way as ABP does.
I mean you wouldn't build a business around something you don't understand right, especially not in the technology sector where being obsolete is a bad idea.
Oh my god no wonder you have to normalfag on 4chan.
I just prefer to buy manga.
Do english dvd sales and buying manga published in English even do anything significant for the industry?
>4 year old nephew comes over
>his mom want to watch a kids movie
>she pulls this out because the name if childish
I could never buy something like this (if it even existed) and I had alot of fun with this shitty show.
Not if you have your dvds oriented like a normal person.
Can you imagine if a relative pulled that fucking case out? Fuck that.
>You literally admit that you believe I wasn't aware of what ABP does and at the same time say I am the one who whill show him.
this is probably the situation where ids would be useful, but no. not that it matters since you're clearly just grasping for continuation of the argument and trying to sling insults, I was initially trying to say that third party 'catch all' solutions are not solutions at all. And if you "know what you're doing" in technical terms, you probably don't consider them solutions either.
>I hate to tell you but you'r 'business' won't be profitable in 5 years, you really should have learned a real life skill instead of a shitty scam.
IT management will cease to exist as a career in 5 years?
If you say so
but for >>117990416's sake, we should stop
feel free to have the last word
here are a number of cute anime girls as a form of minor apology for the off topic shitfest I inadvertently started. that certainly was not my intention
You realize it's not an actual anime right
Also a normal person has their anime stored on a multiple Terrabyte HD not in thousands of dollars of Blurays they will watch once.
It's not 2000 anon
I'm sure you understand what I was getting at /a/non.
>Manager at a marketing company
>Not a technical person
Time for you to fuck right off
They purchase the rights/licensing to broadcast or print translated anime/manga. After that, none of the profits made overseas will go back to the creators.
Which is why CrunchyRoll is ass.
'third party 'catch all' solutions are not solutions at all'
They are called API's not 'catch all' and yes they are actually they are the most used form of computer software in the World from chrome, to safari, to android etc they are built off pre-existing software in order to add functionality. It's very basic stuff m8 and sorry but it is relevant because ABP is an API, I honestly can't believe in your postion you don't know this. And yes working in IT and not understanding what your employees work with will affect you eventually. This should not be news to you.
But you know what for the sake of mai waifu I will end the conversation enjoy the rest of your day.
Do you use AdblockerPlus with Chrome?
I've literally never had any issues with it in the years I've used it.
There are plenty of alternative browsers you can get ablocking software on but I use chrome because it has the best combination of web developer extensions with decent UI's.
Well I don't always use Chrome but it is my most used browser
That's what some people think.
Right now we have this wierd mix where there are services that stream to you and products that are still physical.
I think companies would prefer streaming because they could eliminate the second hand market and keep the prices high. People like Scott Miller (look him up if you don't know him) believe that by 2020 or so even gaming will be totally digital.
I believe he is wrong and the next step is probably going to take at least 15 years.
USB's and Micro SD's are not the nicest form of media to casuals so It will be interesting to see what replaces BluRay. That said I think it will be more discs as there is already technology to have over 100GB on a single layer disc now
Are you a hipster m8
I used to be a physical fag before getting a tablet and realizing all manga including scanlations you can't even buy is now free
Really why? You just end up converting to mp3 if you want to listen to them with any convenience
I agree on something
I agree tenfold
Considering I don't have a tape player and would have dig out the massive portable stereo with 2 tape decks/cd player/radio to even play a cassette then yes. Also the audio quality of cassettes aint good.
Normalfags love that shit because its convenient
Companies love that shit because it's cheap
Everyone is kinda wanting for the Net Neutrality shit to be solved before going up to 4k, ISPs dont want to stream 4k Netflix movies anytime soon unless they get a cut of the profit.
Blu-rays will be around for a while
Because I don't want to give money to overpaid Japanese animators.
4K streaming has some technical issues.
One: being that fucking no one has a 4K TV or monitor
Two: being the speeds and whatnot. Apparently they can transmit in full 4K fine but it's not well versed terrority
I understand the concern of preventing unregulated distribution; but they really ARE obsolete at this point.
I still buy music sometimes because I've been meaning to get a 3.5mm enabled dash stereo in my car for the past 4 or 5 years but just 'haven't got around to it', before we derail this thread again with a discussion on alternate options, I've tried radio transmitters of varying quality and price and they simply don't work consistently.
But honestly, as far as my home computer goes; I don't believe I've even opened the CD tray in it other than to install MS Office when I first bought it, and to burn audio CDs and that's a good 2-3 years ago.
I have a blu-ray player, which I have used literally ONCE for when I ordered Jackass 3d from netflix when it came out, and never again since (cancelled my netflix order dvd bit, still have stream)
Do people still use cds, dvds and bluray at all?
I know they still sell them at stores; but everything can be tivoed, streamed (netflix), on demand, or digitally purchased (for software), or torrented.
I get that there are concerns with a usb system; so that itself probably isn't going to be the solution, but the current system is just so... pointless, there has to be a better way, or nobody except collectors or the EXTREMELY unsavvy buys visual media in disc format to the best of my knowledge
>'Do people still use cds, dvds and bluray at all?'
Come round for a drink we'll watch a film, friends, family, GF, wife, transqueer fag life partner, etc. It's a social thing to watch a dvd/bluray around a TV in the living room, it's convention which is probably why most of /a/ doesn't do it because well no lifers mostly here. But people in general watch DVD's and BluRays.
They sell well even now.
>Are you a hipster m8
All le funny generalizations aside, if you really like an artist, vinyl is the best way to support them. Its literally a physical representation of your media, and art.
Idk about that, most of the things I watch with my friends are live events (sports mainly), and with my exgf anyways we had netflix in bed all the time, or something tivoed or on demand
I think it's primarily an issue of convenience; why would you want to go and physically obtain a disc in a store, or wait for it in the mail, when you can get like that shit on the internet right away
What are you, in 10th grade?
Vinyl fucking blows.
1. It's not digital, it's physical.
Vinyl deteriorates. You have to make sure it doesn't warp, that the vinyl player itself doesn't damage the disc, and last of all, you have to have a decent sound system to connect to that fucking dinosaur.
>b- but that there's a vinyl player that uses a laser to read the vinyl that won't damage the disc
yeah if you have thousands of dollars to spend on a Japanese machine you fucktard
2. You probably won't be getting any NEW vinyls because older music is so much better. But, buying used discs ALSO fucking blows. why? Because you don't know their condition unless you place it and listen to it. Sure, a lot of places will let you do that but you're going to be listening to an entire disc listening carefully for crackles. You can spot warping just by pulling it out, which is simple. But it's highly unlikely that ACTUAL collectors leave mint-condition vinyl for asshats like you to pick up.
If you have the money, time and patience to pick vinyl collecting up as a hobby; go nuts. But if you don't know jack shit about what you're talking about, you can fuck right off.
Pretty much any decent digital audio (i.e. FLAC) with a decent amp and a decent pair of headphones will most likely be of higher quality than anything you'll be able to produce.
MP3s suck. Lossy compression sucks. There's plenty of FLAC albums out there, find them. Then buy a player that can play FLAC because your shitty little iPod won't play them.
>Loser Tier: Anime BDs
Anime BD episodes are most of the time, a HUGE improvement. They don't just pack the TV releases, upscale it then distribute them.
Fixed/improved animation, brightened action sequences, and better audio is shit? Once again, fuck off.
brah did you write a serious explanation of why vinyls are obsolete?
what about vhs? you know it has the a hard durable plastic shell to protect the fragile tape from things like scratches which modern discs are prone to; and it's the true way films were meant to be watched.
What do you have to say to that?
No, you jackass.
Vinyl contains audio, CDs contain audio.
>it's literally a physical representation of your media and art
well at least you spelled 'physical' right this time you damn autist
Having large art with the vinyl case might be cool, but that's all it has.
A CD is also physical. Just in case that slipped your mind,.
I try to buy physical copies when I can, but the high prices and limited distribution make it difficult and impractical most of the time.
Plus I use my Crunchyroll subscription to support the creators (albeit indirectly) as much as I can.
Yeah, 'brah'. Because you're a fucking idiot.
Film is actually superior to any form of digital video. That's that. Why? Because it's not limited to pixels, a size limitation or data storage limitations.
That's fucking smart because that's the way it should be. But going to a theater to fully experience fucking sucks. Why? Because people that are sitting next or around you suck. People fucking suck. You fucking suck.
But no one has access to those high-powered light projector, an expensive lens nor the thousands-of-pounds heavy film to fully appreciate it in the comfort of your own home.
VHS tried to bring that experience into normal households, and it did a great damn job. VHS is fucking great. A lot of remastered versions of shows came from original, 1st edition VHS copies.
The reason VHS itself didn't do so well in terms of quality is because in each generation of film that was copied, the quality in video and audio deteriorated significantly.
Listen to the difference between the 1st and 2nd generation. The 2nd generation is pretty close what we, the consumers at the time could buy. Because our technology was only limited to that.
