How would you rank the more popular shounen manga, on-going or not? Here's a list you can either agree with or shit all over: Jojo (Part 7 + 4 + 2 power trinity) >HxH > One Piece = FMA > One Punch Man > Magi > Naruto = Bleach > Fairy Tail
I agree with part 4.
HOkuto No Ken
Yu Yu Hakusho-Kenshin-FMA-Eyeshield 21-Slam Dunk-CAptain Tsubasa-Shaman King-MEdaka Box
OPM-Naruto-Saint Seiya-Ippo-Death Note
Jojo-Nanatsu No Taizai
Early on in the manga at least Naruto characters thought the name but did not say it. However kids in nippon are either used to or actually like characters to say the names out loud so they changed it in the anime.
Actually this is true for most fighting Shonen.
But Mashima is no different. Kishimoto was no different. I have no fucking clue why people like Kubo more when they all suffer from shitty writing. Kubo's "trolling" is what would be an asspull in any other series. He is dragging this crap on and puts 0 effort into it because he knows you idiots will gobble up whatever he shits out.
Its because he Kuboed us the first time with Aizen. Every other Kubo Moment after that was inferior, but that doesnt matter, because the thing that makes Bleach Bleach isnt Ichigo, but Aizen. Fairy Tail simply has nothing
of course i like the fanservice of itthat can compare with him. No Enemy or Good Guy is as famous and actually good written as him. (Yes i really believe that Aizen was good written overall.)
>My bankai does this and this! Too bad for you that you're not deaf.
>Enemy makes sure he can't hear anymore.
>Captain jobs to enemy who is now immune to bankai effect.
>"IMPOSSIBLE! How could this be!?"
Fuck this shit, seriously.
Jojo Part 7
One Punch Man
Yu Yu Hakasho
Hokuto no Ken
Early Naruto deserves more credit for being a genre definer next to DBZ. People who say otherwise just want to be special snowflakes.
Rurouni Kenshin > JoJo > FMA > YuYu Hakusho > Bleach > One Piece > HxH > Naruto > Fairy Tail > Soul Eater
>name of my move
I don't understand how Jojo can be consistently ranked so high. It's entertaining as fuck but it draws absolutely no emotional response from me at all unlike pretty much everything else on that list. I'd put it high up but not over FMA, HxH and One Piece.
Before 1998 you had mangas of the 80's. Such as Fist of the North Star which inspired Jojo etc... even earlier you had Doraemon and Astro Boy.
In the west anime/manga was still unknown to the majority of western fans besides for hardcore oldfags. Until Dragon Ball Z began showing on a regular basis on western tv channels (CN/Toonami in 1998). DBZ served as the gateway to introduce a majority of younger viewers to the shonen archtype (not all but still alot).
2000 and onwards Naruto/One Piece began to reach the states and exploded in popularity. Arguably there were more Naruto fags than One Piece fags at this point in time. Mostly cementing young anime fags perception of a battle series with world building elements that wasn't Dragon Ball/Gundam.
You can argue Gundam was better at World building before Naruto.
I swear if it wasn't for retarded monkey aliens doing asspulls on a regular basis and adhd ninjas 3/4 of you anime fags wouldn't even be here let alone know about the genre.
At least Naruto has an excuse seeing as they're all wizards and invoking the spell with a name is part of the process. Do the others have excuses? I imagine Fairy Tale might, too, for the same reason.
>Bleach in front of OP is pretty bottom of the barrel when it comes to taste
>JOJO in front of OP is pretty bottom of the barrel when it comes to taste
Your opinion instantly became irrelevant.
>Elder God tier
Fist of the North Star
>The rest tier
We all know who's in the top, even though hes a giant faggot.
>One Piece = FMA
>Naruto = Bleach
Only a /v/ meme is retarded enough to reply to this
It isn't, shounen as a genre is very clichéd. FMA does all the regular tropes well, has good pacing, fights, diverse cast, avoids the power creep and doesn't overstay it's welcome. It's more than what can be said of pretty much every other shounen.
Like >>118698730 said, /a/ is dere for Aizen. He has so many ridiculous asspuls they should never have been let past the editor in the first place, but he's a terrible entertaining character.
I couldn't believe it when Dragonball started showing on national TV, I grew up watching it on the local Japanese TV station. Most of my other exposure was VHS at the local Japanese rental store.
As an oldfag I can tell you that there was nothing special about that time. There was almost nothing available and most of it was post-apocalyptic/cyberpunk. Even the more school yard stuff tended to be martial arts or fantasy/sci-fi. It wasn't until the mid-90s or so that we started getting more variety.
>Like the JoJo anime
>try part 4 of the manga
Lose interest 2/3 of the way through because it's repetitive and boring
Why do people guzzle Araki's semen like it's the wine of the gods?
This thread is the biggest bait.
Also JoJo is for fujoshits what the fuck are you smoking?
Why the fuck people like JoJo so much? I'm in the Italian JoJo part and I think it is a 7/10 max. Part 1 was shit, part 2 was ok, part 3 was good, part 4 was good, part 5 is ok so far.
Unless part 7 really is that mind blowing, I would never rank it above One punch man, HxH, FMA or even One piece.
I think the reason people like JoJo is because it's got a unique in universe power, looks stylish, has truly GOAT fights throughout and benefits from having a lot of (relatively) well written and developed characters due to the cast resetting for each part. I certainly think it's better than FMA/OPM/HxH/OP but in different ways. You could argue that the others do one aspect of shounen fighting manga better than the same in JJBA but I think JJBA does them all well enough such that the cumulative effect is that it's better than most of it's competition.
It's not perfect by any means though. But Part 7 really is that mind blowing.
All this said, it isn't nearly as good as Fist of the North Star.
Bleach and DBZ are silly and formulaic, but unlike Naruto, both of them have intact plots and there has yet to be a villain that has been literally defeated by the power of friendship.
Search your feelings, you know it to be true. Fist of the North Star will be the eternal GOAT shounen fighting manga.
Best character development, excellent power set, best story for the majority of it, best manly tears moments, iconic artwork, great fights. The fight between Fuudo and Raoh (or Rei and Yuda, or Shuu and Souther) instills more emotion than most other shounen manga do in there entire run.
It also has it's own problems but you cannot deny that Buronson is an excellent writer when he isn't made to continue his shit on longer than he intended it to go.
