>>119017774 >actual feels, not just waahhh muh girl left me Hold it right there, Plebenstein's Monster!
What about Shirou's increasingly apparent mental health and deeply rooted self-esteem issues? What about the horrendously abusive home life at the Matou household? What about Kotomine and his resignation to his unexplained vile nature? What about Saber's futile efforts to fight for something that is forever done and cannot be changed? What about Archer's regrets, and him recklessly trying to change something he knows and understands fully well he can't actually change, but does anyway, out of desperation? What about Lancer, and how he's the brother of all brothers?
I can name more, there's lots of feels in Fate Stay/Night
secondaries seems to think that Fate is a battle royale of servant and that it is the main plot... Which is not... god i just wish heaven's feel to come out for them to realize that this story has never been about 7 servants fighting each other...
Honestly, I don't think either one is better than the other because they're two entirely different things
However, I think people tend to gravitate towards Zero more because it's probably more what they were wanting out of the concept of "Famous people from history and legend fight each other." The masters were generally much more prepared and/or more powerful, the Servants tended to interact a bit more other than for the purposes of just fighting (especially Saber, Gil, Iskandr and Deermud), and you just got to see a lot of personalities and differing ideologies and goals at play. Stay Night can't portray that as well because of its focus on Shirou.
>>119018579 I'm only at episode 5 and while there's some voices I find that don't quite fit the characters, alot of it has to do with the fact that I'm very used to the original voices. I'm really loving the voices of Iri, Ryuunosuke & Caster, Waver & Rider; they fit like a glove.
>>119018558 I'm a Fatefag and I binged through Zero and loved it. The first cour only had up to Kayneth vs Kerry right?
But I also just recently entered into the Nasuverse with the Fate VN and HA along with CP, F/Z, and right now UBW. A picture of NLBW always interested me and when I found it it's an entirely different way Shirou fights in one of his routes I downloaded it immediately. Rin best, Sakura most feels, Saber and Lancer broem
>That fucking neutral HF end. >UBW 2nd Answer. >Fate LE.
All super good.
Just about to delve balls deep into Tsukihime. How does it compare in pace and scope to Fate? Is it more grander with the baddies and 'world' aspect or does it all just take place in good old Fuyuki? Will I like Shiki if I like Shirou?
It's the Fuwanovel version cause that's what was on Nyaa.
Also, I just found a VN called The Law Of Contradiction. A Tsuki and HA crossover? Neat.
>>119018833 >Just about to delve balls deep into Tsukihime. How does it compare in pace and scope to Fate? It's different. Near Side is shit but in my opinion the Maid-routes on the far-side have the best story Nasu has ever written. The art is extremly outdated. Nero Chaos is best boy >Also, I just found a VN called The Law Of Contradiction. Never heard of that. Tsukihime's HA is Kagetsu Tohya. It's hell
Anon, very few of Zero's cast can be considered "mature". Kerry had the logic of a child, Kariya was delusional to the point even a middle schooler would be ashamed, Fastwheels was as petty and self-absorbed as any Nasuverse Magus, and there's absolutely nothing mature about the middle schooler.
In fact, when you get right down to it, Rin in Fate/stay night was more mature than any of Zero's magi simply because she had no ridiculous expectations or childish delusions about her place in life. She knew exactly what she was capable of, what her position in life was, what kind of world she lived in, and accepted it all without complaint.
>>119018843 From now on basically. >Stands up to Gil giving no fucks. >Hopefully we get Shirou claiming Rin from Lancer. >More Shirou vs Kizuki. >Eventual EMIYA vs Emiya >Cementing of ideal >Sexins >Then GoB vs UBW
>>119018579 Honestly these don't sound too bad. It's unfair to try and compare most of the voices to the Japanese ones though, because some of these folks have literally been playing their roles for years. I mean Kirei alone had something like six hours of VA for the visual novel. At that point you kind of grow into the role.
I mean meanwhile I think there have been three different English actors for Saber alone.
Tsukihime's manga follows the first route while expertly connecting all the different plotlines. Melty Blood's manga is okay. Fate's manga's aren't too good.
/Extra is in English however TM made a explosive sequel, CCC, that won't be in English longass time. You can still enjoy Extra on its own but there are playthrough logs and various translations for CCC if that piques your interest. Fate/unlimited codes if you want a fighting game.
Apocrypha is an alternate story of sorts that you might like http://fateapocryphathetranslation.wordpress.com/
>>119018916 Anyone who calls Zero's cast mature clearly understood nothing about them.
You have Kerry, who was essentially throwing a tantrum because the world wouldn't work how he wanted it to work.
There's Kariya, who still can't let go of his childhood flame and naively believes that saving Sakura and killing Kariya would cause Aoi to fly straight into his arms.
Tokiomi, who couldn't bear the weight of parenthood.
Lancelot, who ran away from responsibility by demanding others to punish him for his crimes, rather than seek atonement on his own.
Alexander, whose insatiable greed just happened to have positive effects on his empire, but only for the duration in which he was alive. He's pretty much a battle shonen protag who fails to ever look ahead.
The serial killer duo are both crazy and also idiots.
None of these characters are "mature". Seriously, their emotional depty and maturity is comparable to the 16-year-old wormslut.
>>119018204 >1 Shirou overcoming this and being a hero was fist pumping, not feeling. >2 Shinji was too lovely portrayed to make me care >3 He's evil, so he gets swords. No feels. >4 You want to slap her more then feel for her, no King Arthur would fuck up our culture. >5 >Shirou being the red man >sad >not kewl >6 Hew got to go toe to toe with Gil in the end, every Servant's dream
>>119019282 I'm still waiting for that guy in the Coalgirls comments to finish with his *perfect* subs that he can't seem to release
>>119019310 The series is regarded as being set in an alternate parallel universe to Type-Moon's other series, Tsukihime and Fate/stay night, which make references to Kara no Kyoukai. The protagonist of the series, Shiki Ryougi, possesses the same abilities as Tsukihime's protagonist, Shiki Tohno, and Aoko Aozaki's sister Touko Aozaki is a major character.
>>119019585 "So I’ve recently been going back and forth, comparing gg’s newer subs (dubbed as Pretentious subs on ANE’s release as mentioned before here). From what I can tell, they provide the best subs since they’re modified subs of the retail version, arguably even more streamlined than the retail ones (essentially what I’ve been doing this whole damn time *facepalm*). But one noticeable thing about their Pretentious subs is that they’re missing subs for Movies 5 and 7 since I heard that gg never got around to modifying the subs for those two films (which is a shame since they’re both essentially the climax of the series). So here’s a new plan I’d like some feedback on: I’ll still be slowly working on a full set for the series, but would it make people happy if I can provide patch subs for Movies 5 and 7 first here in the comments section? I’d also like to ask, what’s the best file hosting site to post .ASS files for anime stuff like these? (just being careful and all)"
>>119019795 >BD run time is two hours longer than the broadcast version. That would normally be awesome, but knowing Ufotable they'll just add even more retarded SoL that only VNfags care about, like Rin fixing a window or Saber eating more shit.
>>119022059 not wanting authentic pronunciation in your media.not shit posting and being autistic when they say some wrong and then finding proof from a non commercial website to shit post with facts that no one cares about on 4chan
>>119018452 Well anon, once you had their true name, you either knew who they were from basic world history, or could just google them, rather than look through wiki for an explanation. Only one i didn't get from Fate Zero, was Assassin,
>>119022344 I don't know what you consider "basic world history" but for me it seems like the only Servants you could recognize without the help of a wiki would be Arturia, Herakles, Lancelot, Medusa and Iskandar if he was called Alexander the Great. There are also Servants like Medea and Gil who aren't exatly obscure, but since there is so few works of fiction where they appear I doubt most of the people would know who they are even if they hear their names.
>>119017774 >>mature and complex characters with different and original motives Not really, no. And I am not even one of those arguing that F/SN is better than F/Z.
What F/Z has is an older cast on average as well as literally darker visuals. But the characters are not mature. Not even remotely. And this is even tied into the plots and threads of F/Z. Kiritsugu is called a (man)child repeatedly throughout the novel. It's not wrong to call him that. Urobuchi jokingly called Kariya a chuuni. But needless to say Kariya was never behaving even remotely maturely. Waver is genuinely the least experienced master of all the grail wars, with incredibly little knowledge of how the world outside the study actually works. Even Shirou who barely knows squat about the world of magic had more life experience and intuition than Waver. Rider was a manly man with bravado in excess. But fuck it if he wasn't really a manchild aside from how he had strength and charisma. Lancer is mentally scarred from having been cursed in the middle of his adolescence, and it reflects on his character. Though he gets some points for trying to avoid his past mistakes. But then he loses points in how he is so hellbent on his honourable battles as a result of his stubborn love escapades ruined his life. Kayneth and Sola-Ui are some of the most naïve fools of the franchise, with an unusual inability to comprehend anything beyond their severely lacking expectations of things. Irisviel is probably the most impressionable character of the franchise, and is literally not far from a child. No matter the accelerated growth, she is very naïve and impressionable and without much of any life experience to note. I don't really know what to say about Ryuunosuke and Caster, but I would hardly call them mature. And Saber is no mature in F/Z than she ever was in F/SN. If anything, it's only in F/SN Saber matures as she has little to no character development throughout all of F/Z.
>>119022965 Even Kirei had trouble growing up, and it's a huge part of his character arc. Though he gets lots of maturity points for how he actually tried and took the effort to actually analyse both his environment and his own faults on multiple levels even though his efforts never amounted to much.
Fate/Zero is indeed darker in tone. And the characters are older. But no matter the trolls, the way people have been calling the cast so mature is just amusing if anything. Tokiomi being a fool or not, he and Risei are honestly about the only mature characters in all of F/Z. The latter not being featured much. All of this disregarding Gilgamesh of course. It's not as if he can't be mature or immature, it just feels odd to apply these descriptors to him as he lives by different standards. But the notion of F/Z's characters being mature is a joke. And the novel doesn't even try to pretend that they are. It's the opposite even. It deliberately tries to show that they aren't mature but it seems like people don't like to acknowledge that part much.
>>119022965 >>119022997 What people really meant by mature weren't the characters, but how the show felt as a whole. It didn't feel like juvenile shit unlike the UBW anime. They spend entire episodes going to school, cooking and going on "dates" and it just doesn't match up with the mood when they decide to be serious. Not to mention all the otaku pandering, you says Saber had no character development throughout all of F/Z, but we knew more about her in 3 episodes in F/Z than we know about her in 16 episodes worth of time with UBW. It's painful how much of a plot device she feels and how all she does in the scenes outside of when there's fighting is action cute and moe.
>>119022997 What Fate/Zero DOES have is that it manages to minimally develop all the characters it portrays. Kiritsugu is obviously the "main character", but we get to see all Masters and Servants and how they get into the War. What are their motivations, what drives them.
Fate/Zero can do this, MUST do this, because it's a prequel. We already know how this is going to end, so we need something to attach to so we can care about what's happening.
In Fate/Stay a lot of the story works because Shirou is the main and he knows NOTHING about what's going on. It works better in the VN as you slowly figure out who the enemies are and what do they want. Not being able to go into long thought monologues we have mere moments to follow what's going on and that makes the characters seem a bit shallow.
In Zero we know what everybody is doing and why they're doing it. We know Gilles is insane and wants to get to Saber. We don't know who Medea is (yet, though the last episode pretty much blurted it out), we don't know what the hell is her game, what she wants, why is she there, wether Kuzuki is her "real" master, why Kuzuki agreed to be her Master, etc etc etc. There's a lot of missing information that SHOULD be interesting to try and figure out.
But people got used to Zero telling them everything. And the VN people gloating about having all the answers doesn't help much.
>>119023184 >we knew more about her in 3 episodes in F/Z than we know about her in 16 episodes worth of time with UBW
UBW isn't her Route you half wit. You're supposed to go into UBW having already gone through the Fate Route. What you're asking for is a merging of the two routes and we already got that with the original Deen series trying to do all three Routes and utterly failing. You''d be having massive ass pain if this was HF considering Saber dies six days into that route.
>>119023184 >They spend entire episodes going to school Because they're high school students. Also, because there are 2 Masters in that school that need to be observed. One to be found out, one because he's an unpredictable retard who should be harmless but could get dangerous.
>cooking ENTIRE EPISODES this is not. It also develops the characters' personalities. >and going on "dates" One lunch date that was a strategy meeting and develops the relationship between the two mains? Oh no, so immature. This is nothing like Iri and Saber parading around town!
>and it just doesn't match up with the mood when they decide to be serious. When they decide to be serious, they go serious. Rin flips her switch and is all business. Shirou has no fucking clue what's going on most of the time and even he gets serious.
>Not to mention all the otaku pandering What does this even mean?
>Saber Her story is over, this is UBW, not Fate. If you want to compare things to Zero then you already saw Zero and know everything you need to know about her. She is a honorable knight who wants the Grail to undo something that cannot be undone. She's around because she's Shirou's servant, but she's just a weapon in this story.
