I just finished the first few episode of Shirobako. I feel bad for animation studios now. Is Aoi supposed to make me fall for her?
>happy to be at their job
She's not an animator, she's an existential black hole
>when they say they are daijoubu but you know they are not daijoubu
The really sad thing is that many of the characters went to college to get their skillset and they are still not making any money.
>The kinds of colleges that train for that sort of work are usually 2-3 year diploma affairs, and the tuition is much lower than an academic university would be
Tht is the same as america. The 'art institute" and 2 year computer animation colleges are cheap and offer low wage jobs.
>According to Salary.com, the average salary for an animator in the United States is US$55,000. According to the Arts Institute of California, the average starting salary for animators who graduate from that institute is US$31,000.
Still better than Japanese animators, but low by north American standards.
55k is higher than the GDP, so that's not a bad career to find yourself in, and 30k is certainly not bad for an entry-level position in a skill-based field.
The tricky part would be actually starting your career, because the demand is so abysmally low in the US, and dealing with the crushing depression of using your talents gained through years of training and passion just to dick around in flash for 9 hours a day.
Pre-recession they various AI art colleges had over 80% employment rate for animators.
Coincidentally the AI websites only publish 2008 employment rates for graduates. It is probably a lot lower now but they keep that number a secret.
>because the demand is so abysmally low in the US
Ain't that the truth. Even for 3DCG, the only really prolific work you can get is in advertisements and shitty network babby cartoons. Maybe a brief stint on the newest Bayformers if you're lucky.
You will never never go play pool with them. ;_;
Honestly, I think that these gentlemen are more interesting than the females.
Maybe because most anime that I've seen have female-centric casts, so this anime is quite a change for me.
It wasn't the worst thing ever, but it was just completely mediocre in every aspect and respect, an utter let down in every attribute that held any promise, and completely failed to deliver on anything that it built towards.
It dragged its feet for an entire cour with nothing, and by the time we reached the end, we realized that it was it. There was nothing more than that, the pointless nothing throughout was the entire sum and content of the show.
It wasn't bad so much that it was so utterly without anything positive that it actually makes you feel angry for having watched it. It was the animation equivalent to eating toiletpaper
>give the guys hardly any screentime
>most of that goes to Tarou and Director being faggots
>get rid of Ochiai and Honda without any mention of new male employees, just more cute girls
Endou's stuff was good though. I just hope we're not going to move even further from the somewhat balanced workplace for more cute girl shenanigans now that we've got highlights-chan and Ghibli-chan as well as retaining all the previous girls.
We're probably going to see fewer consistent male characters, but more one-off characters showing of f their positions in the industry.
I also don't doubt that Nabe P will get a lot more screentime and presence now. Honda's departure creates a space in the character dynamic, so we'll likely have a new male fill that.
More and more coworkers around me are getting silently fired. I guess that's one thing to hope for when you're stuck looking for a job.
Honda will be back with cakes, he even said so himself.
A man has to make his dream come true himself.
She strikes me as the kind of woman who would intimidate and scare a guy like Tarou. Especially when you think of all the pent-up stress and frustration that she'd be releasing all at once in a ravish barrage of sexual aggression. She'd chew up a little guy like Tarou and spit him back out
After the first time, I don't think he'd want any more
but she wouldn't stop
>better than God of eight cuts
Tarou doesn't really strike me as the kind of guy who would be intimidated by a girl his age, his interactions with Aoi feel pretty equal if only because of his obliviousness and I expect the sex would be like that too. He'd expect to be on top, probably think he's an amazing fuck for lasting more than five minutes, and ultimately leave her unsatisfied.
It would be really great if she would descend into doing eroge and hentai work exclusively and ultimately go into JAVs, while all her friends make real proper careers and all she could do would be to despair about the path she chose, and then the Yakuza would finally sell her as a sex slave to some chinese businessman, making her disappear from her circle forever. But Shirobako is supposed to be a light-hearted show I guess, so one can only dream.
Mi chan, please.
Nabe P's job seems awesome. I want to earn capital and work for my studio.
There's no money in the industry. This is a notorious fact. The few married ones that I'm aware of are married to other people in the industry, so they have double income, at least. In any case, they're not rich.
Anyone want to bully Ema? It's been a year since I've seen Ema bullied.
She's a cute grill. Realistically speaking you'll never run into real trouble in life, if you're a 7/10 or above, which all anime girls are by default. Just dispense some blowjobs here and there and you'll find someone who'll be willing to employ you.
