Not that anon but there's a diference between a panty shot and softcore. Especially considering that the modern anime industry is basically softcore for nerds, even the main hook for buying BDs is to watch more skin
Is Black Bullet the new Evangelion and Madoka of anime?
>I already have predisposed opinions based on a couple of fans so I'm gonna shit on it regardless of it actually being good
>I judge anime based on the fanbase
Oh boy I hope so. The whole Ringo-is-a-stalker arc was just unnecessary. It seems like all it did was increase the amount of times the watchers are tricked into thinking Ikuhara gives a shit about anything but FAMILY
Shinbo doesn't direct monogatari, or really any Shaft shows for the past several years. He tends to take the roll of chief director and have one of his understudies do the actual work.
Holy shit, based Asenshi! I might actually stay awake for this.
Why is the lily so unhealthy, broken and downtrodden?
Did we watch the same show?
This, Ikuhara is a yuri fan and does like putting lesbians in his shows but none of them were ever really yuri except the Utena movie which is basically fanservice for people who liked Anthy/Utena.
Fashion design and torturing Anno.
He had no creative power over Sailor Moon and that's why he quit as director. Utena portrays itself as a yuri show before it BTFOs the yurifags with Akio, yet /u/ still thinks it's a yuri anime to date. Penguindrum has no yuri at all, not unlike Utena, it presents itself as homosexual (shounen ai) before going in a completely different direction.
So both Utena and Penguindrum pretend to be gay before becoming straight. Clearly there's a trend here. Why do people think Yuri Kuma will be any different?
Jesus fucking christ.
I'm just going to pretend this comes out on Tuesdays from now on to spare myself this agony
You mean Aoi Hana?
>Ikuhara has stated that he likes anime with Yuri elements because he feels that when a female character is given a male love interest, the relationship between them tends to overwhelm the other elements of the show.
They describe "becoming invisible" as being part of the group. Like blending in. So the invisible storm I assume is the pressure to follow social norms and act as a part of the group. It's the suppression of individuality.
>Utena portrays itself as a yuri show before it BTFOs the yurifags with Akio, yet /u/ still thinks it's a yuri anime to date.
No it doesn't. While Utena was protecting Anthy she clearly showed she was attracted to Touga before Akio happened.
Her relationship with Anthy actually grew stronger when Akio happened.
> yet /u/ still thinks it's a yuri anime to date.
/u/ doesn't consider it yuri anymore except for the movie and even bitches about people suggesting it as explicitly yuri. It even has a disclaimer on their recommended anime list.
>So both Utena and Penguindrum pretend to be gay before becoming straight.
Did you not see the end to Penguindrum?
You mean that character who falls in love with Tabuki, a man, after having an unhealthy obsession with a child and trying to molest her sister? What do you think that means?
Future episodes come out only 3 hrs post-jpn premiere, they promise!
Their entire marriage was just for show, and they only bonded over their mutual love for Momoka, did you even watch the show you fucking faggots? She never expressed any honest feelings for any boy or man in any way.
>People forgetting the original Korra/Asami tier ending Penguindrum had
It literally had less buildup than Korrasami
I've watched the whole show 5 times already, I think I know what I'm talking about. I still can't see Tabuki and Tokikago doing anything but spending their lives together in an attempt to keep their memory of Momoka alive, there's no hetero feelings involved in this.
Threadly reminder that armpits and navels are the superior softcore niche fetishes. Footfags can fuck off.
>I've watched the whole show 5 times already
Okay, now try watching it without the yuri goggles.
>the scene in episode 17 where they're talking alone and she's reaching out to him and he keeps rejecting her and she makes comments about how cold everything is
>the final episode where they're holding hands and express warmth with each other
If you think this isn't a heterosexual relationship then you're fucking delusional.
>mfw this is just symbolism for them licking her out
Different anon here, I saw it more as them bonding over their love for Momoka, getting over their trauma and trying to honor her memory by being happy together, which was what Momoka wanted for both of them when they were children.
What? Ikuhara's technical position on Utena was the same as on Sailor Moon S. This is a fact.
Utena is just far more Ikuhara since it's partially his brainchild while Sailor Moon was part of a larger franchise.
>Ikuhara's technical position on Utena was the same as on Sailor Moon S. This is a fact.
Clearly we have different definitions of "fact".
Ikuhara credits on Sailor Moon S
>Director, Episode Director, Storyboard
Ikuhara credits on Utena
>Director, Script, Original Creator
I hope by the end of the show the tomboy has become feminine
You mean you ARE the guy I'm replying too, right? Because you're wrong. It's clearly a positive end where they're both moving on from her. You're trying to rewrite positive character growth into something negative simply to keep your yuri fantasies intact.
You do realise what you're suggesting, right? That even though Yuri gave her half of the diary away to Ringo willingly and Tabuki stops persecuting and pursuing the Takakura family, they're both still obsessed with her?
>He literally scripted 0% of the episodes.
But that's wrong.
I love you.
Pay more attention to me Anon.
Worst fucking trope. Why are nips so obsessed with making tomboys feminine? Fuck that.
I hope by the end of the show you've contracted cancer
No, and I don't even care whether it can be considered yuri or not. They moved from clinging desperately to the past to accepting that there's a massive influence on both their lives that will never go away. They grew, but the Momoka specter didn't disappear.
Honestly, I doubt it would happen but I hope that anti-yurifags get bored and go back to Cross Ange threads to shitpost about Tusk.
Can we discuss Life Sexy/Beauty/Cool and what they are supposed to do/be? I don't get it. They're clearly shown to be bears, but aren't on the bears' side at all? And if they're bears, then the bears = lesbians metaphor is totally down the drain, unless we settle for bears = homosexuals.
SOON. I'm ready to watch it for a 4th a time today.
>They moved from clinging desperately to the past to accepting that there's a massive influence on both their lives that will never go away
But they're moving past it, together. Keep in mind once Tabuki decides to stop going after the Takakura's, he quits his job and stops maintaining his fake relationship with Yuri. Then YURI GOES AFTER HIM. SHE. GOES. AFTER. HIM. She finds him. Then they stay together. There is no reason for them to keep up their fake relationship, so he leaves and she pursues him and then in the final episode they're together, holding hands and still wearing their wedding rings. You'll notice that throughout the entirety of their fake relationship, they never hold hands and Tabuki never displays any warmth towards her, but that's changed in the final episode.
I'd love to, but last time we tried to have two threads one was deleted. Guess mods want us to keep it to one thread.
>generals are not only accepted as commonplace but enforced
God dammit /a/, what the fuck happened?
This is relevant
>However, one staunch yuri hater, Chicago’s Justin Longhorn, remains optimistic. “I kept hoping that the title of the show wasn’t referencing that kind of yuri,” Justin told Anime Maru. “The word also means Lily in Japanese, and it could have even been a reference to a character name. It’s true that the trailer doesn’t leave me much room for optimism, but I’m still willing to give Ikuhara the benefit of the doubt.”
>Longhorn said that the hand holding, the declarations of love in the trailer, and even the recent sexually suggestive NyanType poster won’t discourage him. “I will definitely be watching the premiere come January,” he said. “Let’s just hope I’m not wrong about this one like I was about Sakura Trick.”
Even though Penguindrum presented itself as shounen ai before airing and for a little while into airing, fujoshi actually discussed the show instead of screaming LOOK AT HOW GAY THEY ARE. Hell, Good_Haro was the biggest fujoshi of the lot and she was translating shit and contributing to the threads and started the wiki.
Why can't yurifags be this chill?
It's pretty clearly comforting rather than passionate though. There's a difference between being affectionately content with a partner because you have something very important in common and being in love with them.
I'm still convinced this can become a het show.
Yuri was only portrayed in a negative light, and Ikuhara is known for sudden plot twists. I think this foreshadows an abrupt change from yurishit to heterosexual romance.
>Because marriage is always romantic.
The point is they're engaged when they no longer have reason to fake their engagement. They don't have to fake an engagement, so why are they still engaged, genius?
If you were paying attention at all most of the shitposting is coming from people swearing up and down that flowers and honey are symbolism for penises and semen while declaring all of the girls will be straight by the time the series ends all the while missing the point of the Akio scene from Utena and forgetting about the ending to Penguindrum.
>I think this foreshadows an abrupt change from yurishit to heterosexual romance.
Honestly the biggest thing that foreshadowing an abrupt change to heterosexuality is the fact that Ikuhara has done that before. Again. And again. And again. He's like a broken record.
>For comfort and because they feel that Momoka tied their fates together
That's no reason to be engaged. There's no reason they can't be friends.
Here's the thing you're missing.
They're engaged because they're in love.
Yuri goes after Tabuki because she loves him.
Yuri lets Ringo go free and gives up her half of the diary to her because she loves Tabuki.
Tabuki accepts her advances because he loves her.
They're able to move on from Momoka because they're in love with each other.
I'm not sure. Probably bears = homos.
But they seem like some type of objective higher power more inbetween human and bear? They said they maintain 'the nirvanna' of all living things (even plants, humans and bears) and are the scale that balances the world.
I'm not sure what I think it represents yet, it's 2deep4me so far but maybe things will clear up.
I wonder if we'll always see Life Beauty arguing pro-bear and Life Cool arguing for pro-human or if they will ever switch depending on the trial?
Also I wonder what Life Sexy meant when he asked Ginko and LuLu if they would rather eat the girls or become invisible. It must be something related to the invisible storm.
Any chance of getting subs with better memes? The German-English subs uncapitalized i a lot and used daijoubu but mostly it wasn't very impressive, I'd rather have some high-concept meming than superficial attempts
>Eating the girls = doing homosexual acts
>Becoming invisible = deciding to stay in the closet
Just my take on it. Then again, Penguindrum pushed the whole "invisible = dead" metaphor with the child broiler. Maybe he just refers to the fact that bears have to eat humans to literally survive.
I know this is satire but wasn't one retard literally trying to argue that the "yuri" in the title actually meant "microchip"
>No. I'm still able to make a story where it's between a boy and a girl. But I feel irritated to see my girl getting together with some other guy. I've tried to kill off Tuxedo Mask in Sailor Moon many times. But no matter how many times I tried to kill him, he gets resurrected so I only get angrier. So I decided it would be way better if the girl just didn't have a boyfriend to begin with. Of course I'm just kidding. In reality, if I have a guy in the show, the love relationship gets to have a bigger role than the show. And that would be an interesting element, but I wouldn't want that to make that the scene-stealer of the show. Most other shoujo shows are in that direction. It's about who-and-who are getting together, or who-and-who are breaking up. I thought it would be a loss if that would be the big motif just because a girl was the main character. I think there could be more shows with other motives than that.
This is what Ikuhara has to say when asked about girl getting boyfriend and romance.
It is not happening.
Yeah that's because Ikuhara shows have never had male/female romances before like Anthy and Akio, Utena and Akio, Utena and Touga, Kanba and Himari, Ringo and Shouma, Shouma and Himari, Tabuki and Yuri, Tabuki and Momoka, Sanetoshi and Momoka, Sanetoshi and Himari...
Oh wait, there's actually quite a lot of male/female romances, sexual tension and romantic developments. You realise what he's referring to in that quote is shoujo anime which focus solely on the girl trying to get the guy. He's fine with heterosexual romance so long as it doesn't eclipse the entire show.
>Their marriage was for show.
Initially, yes. But they have no reason to still be married by the end of the series if their marriage was just for show. Yet, they're still together. Funny.
>there's a fucking lily instead of a cow
>Next to be targeted was Take, Saitō Ishigorō's pregnant wife. She too was attacked, killed, and eaten.
>villagers heard Take begging the bear to not to touch her belly but to eat her head off.
>Later the fetus was found alive from her corpse, but died shortly after.
The ride is only starting
Not anyone you're replying to but if you think gay people being in a heterosexual relationship, let alone a marriage, is something new than you're fucking retarded.
Not even just media I'm talking about, I mean just looking around at what happens all the time in real life.
I'm not even arguing that she is gay, but using "marriage" as an argument against someone being gay is just idiotic.
That's some fanfic-level reading there dude. I'm the second person you were arguing with and I don't see where you're coming from either. I don't even care whether or not Yuri is a lesbian.
Can't wait for the tears to start
>Not anyone you're replying to
You realise you aren't fooling anyone, right? Every second post you make is "I'm not that guy but" yet all your posts are well outside of the post limit timer.
Because they want to stay together in an effort to keep their collected memory of Momoka alive. Not in an obsessive way, but in the way that they feel they can only connect to each other and no one else, due to having shared feelings towards Momoka. They probably spend all their time reminiscing about Momoka, too.
Can't wait for the YuriKuma version of this.
>not being paranoid
Also nice argument.
Japan seems to be divided on this show; a lot of people like the Ikuhara aestehtic and a lot of people like the erocontent but a lot of people think it makes no sense and the setting is dumb.
I don't like that the setting is actively affected by how weird everything is. Even when things got nightmarish in Utena the school kept a some sense of normality outside of the Akio's apartment and the dueling tower.
The really sad part is that even if the show turns out good the yuri-fanbase is a lovecraftian form of super-cancer crossbread with AIDS so the threads will automatically be shit
Here's to hoping that Ikuhara will not avoid the topic of mensturation
>The gametophyte is the multicellular structure (plant) that is haploid, containing a single set of chromosomes in each cell. The gametophyte produces male or female gametes (or both), by a process of cell division called mitosis. In vascular plants with separate gametophytes, female gametophytes are known as mega gametophytes (mega=large, they produce the large egg cells) and the male gametophytes are called micro gametophytes (micro=small, they produce the small sperm cells).
The fusion of male and female gametes (fertilization) produces a diploid zygote, which develops by mitotic cell divisions into a multicellular sporophyte.
> Primitive land plants like liverworts and mosses had motile sperm that swam in a thin film of water or were splashed in water droplets from the male reproduction organs onto the female organs. As taller and more complex plants evolved, modifications in the alternation of generations evolved; in the Paleozoic era progymnosperms reproduced by using spores dispersed on the wind. The seed plants including seed ferns, conifers and cordaites, which were all gymnosperms, evolved 350 million years ago; they had pollen grains that contained the male gametes for protection of the sperm during the process of transfer from the male to female parts. It is believed that insects fed on the pollen, and plants thus evolved to use insects to actively carry pollen from one plant to the next. Seed producing plants, which include the angiosperms and the gymnosperms, have heteromorphic alternation of generations with large sporophytes containing much reduced gametophytes. Angiosperms have distinctive reproductive organs called flowers, with carpels, and the female gametophyte is greatly reduced to a female embryo sac, with as few as eight cells. The male gametophyte consists of the pollen grains. The sperm of seed plants are non-motile, except for two older groups of plants which have flagellated sperm.
tldr; Stamen makes flower sperm.
>likes yuri but hates yurifags?
I keep seeing this, but every single yuri-related thread I see on /a/ is ruined by anti-yuri shitposting rather than crack shipping or whatever it is yurifags or /u/ does.
>yfw an scene of the bears licking a red lily
Does Ikuhara even have works post-Utena?
Penguindrum was his first anime after 12 years. People often insult Anno as an one-trick pony but he was very active between EoE and Rebuild
>girl but will never experience that
Way to go.
People who actually like yuri are discussing this in /u/ while people who hate yuri keep having their shitposts on /u/ deleted so they're shitposting here.
Every single /u/ related anime last year and this year has had intense shitposting from one side only and it was never the yurifags.
If /u/ is so great why don't you fuck off back there
I guess we could post a bit.
Nah, Ikuhara could join to Khara and get unlimited budget but he didn't do it because that would mean to have sex with Anno
They're the same person, just not the same character.
Dios is the original Prince who is pure but helpless to directly affect anything inside the world of ohtori academy, Akio is the prince devoid of purity but in exchange he has absolute power over the world of the academy. Even though they are the same person they exist as two different entities.
So anyone that has a picture of yuri is automatically a yurifag?
Fuck at least it's more related in a thread about an anime called "Yuri Bears" than shitposting about flowers being symbolism for penis
>Village chief's mayor who was 7 years old at the time of the attack (close to same age as Kureha looked in the photo with her mom)
>kid grows up to become an excellent bear hunter
>swore an oath to kill ten bears for every victim of the attack
>By the time they reached the age of 62, he had killed 102 bears.
Kureha is going to be going out for revenge and blood isn't she?
>Attack started (in a sexual sense)
>Eat people (deep meaning)
>Is it really sexual eating
>Will be eaten (sexual)
>In a sexual sense
>Eats girls (deep meaning)
>Side dishes (sexual)
Japan confirmed for finally understanding the workings of the Ikuhara mind.
How the fuck are we meant to discuss it when you fags are derailing this thread?
Seems like the action is starting again
I better not miss this one
Are you a cute anime girl? If not, I think I will pass.
>So anyone that has a picture of yuri is automatically a yurifag?
If you're posting completely unrelated shit in a thread for the sake of "yuri" then yes, you're a yurifag.
> than shitposting about flowers being symbolism for penis
This is an Ikuhara anime and you're complaining about speculah and symbolism interpretation? This is why you aren't wanted.
>ERPing and posting random yuri
Why don't you try sticking your head into a blender?
GAO GAO GAO GAO !!
gao gao gao gao
>This is an Ikuhara anime and you're complaining about speculah and symbolism interpretation?
It's not symbolism interpretation when you reject the universal interpretation for flowers and nectar/honey when it comes to sexual symbolism.
Seriously, fuck off with your shitposting.
I can't stop listening to the ED
This the problem of yurifags, is the problem that this show is presenting. It's the same problem that birthed yurigoggles. Yuri shouldn't be a genre, it needs to be destroyed as a genre. That's the only way to save Yuri.
Do you think they still go to the hotsprings together?
Guys, just ignore the faggot. He just mad that he got BTFO in the stream thread.
He will go back to Cross Ange in a few minutes
>flowers have male sex organs and female sex organs
>the petals on the flower are phallic shaped
>images of the lily appear worn down see >>119383933
Holy shit, it's almost like Ikuhara could be subverting expectations or something. Who would've guessed? Honestly if people coming to an interpretation from this symbolism that isn't "THEY'RE LESBIANS" triggers you so hard then you should probably go back to >>>/u/
We need less bait and more discussion and /sp/ memes
Because there are some shitposting literal faggots? When discussion is stifled in every single thread because of complaints against something that isn't even present then it's either underage, shitposters, or both. Reminds me of narutard threads where they do nothing but talk about tumblr and post tumblr screencaps.
Fuck you. Lulu a cute. All the main girls are best. Side girls are irrelevant sluts soon to be eaten by bears
>these fucking megaphones
"IT'S NOT RELATED TO SHAFT AT ALL" THEY SAID
"STOP BEING NIWAKA" THEY SAID
We don't need more bears shit in /sp/. It's already been a bad year for us bears.
Some guidelines how to make these threads better:
>Stop trying to figure out who shitposts the most
>Finally realize that it's "Gau" not "Gao"
>Stop acting like you already know what's going to happen in the show, because no one does
>Finally realize that it's "Gau" not "Gao"
How can people not know this? Gao is for dinosaurs.
Am I the only one who fucking hated it? Like I get the deepness but it's just nothing I want to watch. Feels like it's really just deep for deepness sake to me. It wasn't funny or moving or really anything but obscure. I like obscure stuff, but this feels like it doesn't have any substance at all.
I guess I'll just watch one or two episodes more and then drop it if it stays like this.
What the fuck kind of post is this and why is it in /a/?
Is this /v/ shit? Why the fuck would /v/ crossboarders be watching a show that is completely opposite of what they usually watch?
This anon gets it. Ikuhara would've made the series that blatant too, but he couldn't because he had Saito Chiho threatening to quit if he did. He worked in as much as he could.
You dude, you mad salty. You gotta hold dat. Spooby pls BibleThump
Hopefully he just won't even touch this series. He already demonstrated in the early threads that he was capable of causing shitstorms with his autism.
>g-guys, 'yuri' could mean anything because it's written in kana. It could even mean microchips!
Have you watched any other Ikuhara show? If you feel it's lacking substance where they had it then you could point that out, but if this is your first Ikuni show then we can probably say with a reasonable degree of certainty that it's not for you.
The fuck? I've subbed entire episodes by myself before, and it takes me roughly 5-6 hours from start to finish. Translation, timing, typesetting, final QC, edit & encode and then release. These guys have a whole team doing it, why are they so slow?
>implying that won't happen
It's been ONE EPISODE, and the first episodes are always where they throw out the most extreme fanservice to hook viewers in. Give it some fucking time.
I did enjoy it but I had some issues with it, though I'm not entirely sure how to word it.
I think it feels a bit too condensed. Like it went directly towards the symbolism and allegories. I've seen Utena and Penguindrum, and I remember them easing into the weirdness in the beginning. Here, we got background exposition, scissors, and everyone talking about the invisible storm right from the start, well before we even got to bear court,
I need to see how it comes together over the next few episodes, but you could tell it's a 12 episodes show instead of 24. I feel like this episode could have been taken a bit slower.
>Typsetter puts TL notes and rants
Consider the following:
Ukuhara has never before worked in a one-cour show. He has always had loads of time for his lovingly crafted antics, and has absolutely no experience working in such a compressed format. Will he have sufficient time to reorder the chaos he sets in motion?
I'm probably one of the biggest Ikuharafags imginable and I absolutely loved it. Completely surpassed my expectations, especially when watching it without memesubs.
sasuga françaisExcited to watch it again a 4th time when asenshi subs it.
But from what I've seen normalfags on MAL don't seem to be ranging from iffy to dislike, I imagine the slow subs aren't helping. And I don't dare glance at tumblr to see what SJW think.
