Some people aren't going to like this. It's Theatre of the Absurd but in anime. Like the anime equivalent of something a Residents album or a Franz Kafka novel or a Crispin Glover movie.
It's not for everyone, but it's one of the rare cases that you really can say the people who don't like it just don't get it. And there are going to be a ton of people who fucking hate it because they think it's trying too hard to be deep or something.
I think a lot of people are going to rag on it for attempting to imitate Shaft's style, especially Madoka, thinking it's a sincere attempt at mimicry.
A lot of the style, both the art and direction, are so similar that it's far more likely using it for parody.
The style of the architecture, with the impractical buildings, the skyline covered in
deconstruction cranes, and the motifs for characters like the grinding of teeth are all very similar to Madoka. The opening of the Yuri Trial even looked a lot like a Witch's Labyrinth.
5 gum feeling the anime
meh It's just something that tests the real deep kuro levels of my top-tier ELITE plasma monitor
Don't worry everything will make sense in the end
The trial reminded me more of Penguindrum than Madoka, but you have a point about the other things you mentioned I guess. I don't think Madoka is the direct antecedent though.
I think it will either be a series about society's double standard in judging Class S relationships in comparison to Homosexuality or it will straight up be about Homosexuality vs Heterosexuality and the risks and consequences in coming to terms with your own homosexuality like social rejection.
i feel kinda sorry plebs here who still watch on chink&gook TN-panel based displays
watching it on a large plasma panel or THX-certified home projector is the only way to experience Pure Love!
If you know what "Yuri" means then why do you care how the subs translate it?
>humanity was eaten to near extinction by bears
>they built giant walls to protect themselves
>the bears infiltrate the walls disguised as humans
>MC wants to genocide bears
>she is most likely at least half bear herself
the fuck Ikuhara
If you the symbolism to be good, you have to make it run in parallel and make people see the allegory in the fashion that is realistic.
This is basically just all magic I didnt have to explain shit.
>implying there's any meaning to it
>implying it would be a bad thing if it weren't
This is postmodernism plain and simple. Don't look for signifiers and signifieds. Just enjoy absurdity.
Because yuri meaning depends of the context
