>hurrr anime is dying because we HAVE to pander to otaku and "the obsessive fan market" or we'll go out of business!
Evangelion, Death Note, Code Geass, Naruto, One Piece, etc... Are all shows that hit the mainstream masses and received lots of commercial success.
No matter how shitty some of these shows may be, none of them can really be considered as "generic pandering moe-blob romcom".
Fans are not the problem. Shitty studios that pussy out and don't try new things are the problem.
The problem is studios are pandering to what the most vocal faggots on 2ch want. It's like if US comic book publishers just made whatever the most obnoxious tripfags on /co/ wanted.
>Evangelion, Death Note, Code Geass, Naruto, One Piece, etc
All these with the exception of Naruto pander to the otaku market harder than anything else. Rei and Asuka got us on this slippery slope. Fuck off.
You'll always have your broad appeal mainstream successes, but late night anime have sort of fallen into this system where only dedicated otaku can really be bothered to give enough of a shit to buy it.
Good. Otaku are the only ones who care. They tried and continue to try to cater to normies all the time. And funny thing is: otaku support them instead. There is still a lot of room for non otaku anime to take off. But it needs to be fun enough for people to give a shit. Most normies will never buy expensive cartoons out of shame.
Ping Pong was the best anime of last year, and it had zero fanservice in it. There are like 3 young female characters with a prominent role in the entire show, and only one is admired for her beauty, but is not deliberately sexualized at all.
>tumblr slaps a bunch of fake subtitles on Miyazaki gifs
>/a/ eats it up
>trusting under the shit
Kill la Kill yourself
>le pretentious gook face
This is why this dumb "Miyazaki is a bitter old man who hates Otaku" maymay needs to die. Because it makes newfriends think they know what they're talking about.
While I agree, that has nothing to do with sexualization (or lack of), and isn't terribly pertinent to the discussion.
Which is calling OP a faggot.
Wow, an anime about men's sports had very few females in it and none of them were shown in scenes that showed off their bodies. How surprising.
By the way, not that it matters because Ping Pong's art was shit, but showing naked/scantily-clothed men is also fan service.
And yet only Otaku know who the director is. Only anime fanatics realize the talent behind the shows.
Kikestarter is filled with scam artists. Anime will never take off there. They need professional accountability with expensive anime projects.
The problem isn't who they are appealing to you retard. I wouldn't care if there was stupid anime pandering to subhuman svums if there were also quality shows along with it. And no, the shit you listed isn't good in the least.
Because the otaku's he's referring to are attracted to anime about men's sports with few females and 'male fanservice'.
Also, I welcome Ping Pong's art style. Its refreshing, dramatic, and while it looks jaunty and weird at times, its very distinct and it really amplifies the energy of the show.
>Also, I welcome Ping Pong's art style. Its refreshing, dramatic, and while it looks jaunty and weird at times, its very distinct and it really amplifies the energy of the show.
I agree completely and it saddens me that some people call it "dog shit".
I'm the one being pandered to by generic moe-blob romcoms, so it's great that not just the majority of anime is produced for me but I get to savor the bluuh-bluuh tears of idiots who care about something as stupid as the "state of anime" along with it
So I see this image all the time, but he didn't say that in the interview. He was talking about how he really liked a certain model of plane, but wasn't an otaku about it. Then it cuts to him playing with a toy plane and making the sound effects.
I don't know why people are so eager to portray as some kind of Rorscach of anime-esque jaded outcast.
>I'm the one being pandered to by generic moe-blob romcoms,
I'm sorry. I do agree that fags that scream "state of anime" are idiots, same for the people that think that modern anime is shit.
Honestly fuck Miyazaki. I really don't care about him or his studio, if he wants more money then he should find a reasonable way to market to all the fans he has worldwide. If he has such a problem with otaku and pandering then he should just ship off to hollywood and make frozen 2.
Miyazaki is a spoiled fart. He grew up in a rich family which allowed him to take on opportunities to amass even more wealth. Now that he's made bank and cashed out from the industry he is free to say anything about it and people will agree with him because he has money.
>I don't know why people are so eager to portray as some kind of Rorscach of anime-esque jaded outcast.
Because deep down people know the fake subs are right, so they need to build him up as a demonic enemy for the sake of denial.
I love how Miyazaki essentially throws people under the bus whenever he says shit like that. The man was lucky to be working with capable animators and he has no appreciation for other creators. I am sure the man is a narcissist.
I believe that anime like KLK is the solution to the otaku pandering problem
At first glance it's a otaku pandering fanservice show, but deep down it's actually a parody and deconstruction of the genre and it's deep and meaningful
It works like a gateway to good anime for people who haven't developed good taste in anime yet
Well, you do sound like a pretentious fag
>using moeshit unironically
The fuck does that mean
>deep down I know men are rapists, so I'll make some dumb fake footage of men trying to take advantage of drunk women
Fuck off, newfriends
Modern anime is shit? Older anime is the same. All anime is always the same shit. Was Godmars or Golion really less consumerist or more deep than moeshit today? No. It was more.
It's kinda tongue in cheek, the way he says it. Either way it's not anything near what those fake subs say
You're all fucking idiots. He never said any of this. I've read most of his interviews, and the most he ever says are offhand, tangential comments about otaku or resignation towards TV anime. He's not fucking Tomino, who's actually REALLY vocal about the shit he hates. All this "Miyazaki hates anime" crap is just shit ANN and shitposters on /a/ made up for clickbait and trolling.
Why don't you bitch about Tomino, then, rather than make up shit to spite Miyazaki with? The answer is simple. Because the retards who fall for this dumb bait are 13 years old, and haven't seen 0079.
See what I mean? These threads are a cesspool of cancerous newfriends.
these are the people that believe the tumblr edits
Let that sink in for a while.
You did this to yourselves, retards. Act stupid and eventually you'll drag in actual retards and normalfags
Normalfags do not buy anime except once in a blue moon. Because they don't watch anime. Every now and then you get a hugely popular show with wide appeal (SnK) but you can't base your entire model around hitting the jackpot on fickle popularity.
Well if I may explain myself, in my opinion people who can't fully appreciate Ping Pong outside of personal enjoyment are the problem. It's fine if you couldn't enjoy it for whatever reason, but if you barge in and call it shit without at least backing your claim then you're just a dumbfuck.
KLK tried to parody tropes but ended up incorporating them, making it just as bad as the shit it tried to criticize.
This is also assuming that they even went for that, and people jumped to conclusions.
>At first glance it's a otaku pandering fanservice show, but deep down it's actually a parody and deconstruction of the genre and it's deep and meaningful
You realize it's literally a carbon copy of RE:CH, right?
There's nothing "deconstructive" about it, or Madoka, despite what rebbit tells you. Lurk moar, newfag.
>It works like a gateway to good anime for people who haven't developed good taste in anime yet
Says the crossboarding shitter.
The fuck? It wasn't criticizing shit. It was literally just RE:CH in a new coat of paint. How fucking new are you?
You two retards probably don't even know what RE:CH refers to. Casuals
G-Reco is looking to go down the full incest track
So, I dunno, there's hope for him
Does /m/ even like G-Reco? Do they watch anything besides Kamen Rider Stig nowadays?
Like I said, this is assuming that Trigger even went for the whole parody/ criticizing thing after all. To be fair, one can look at it from that perspective, but then again, like I said, it could also be people jumping to conclusions. Trigger probably left it open ended like that on purpose.
And no, I don't know what RE:CH is. Don't know the acronym and google brings up nothing. Maybe if you told me it might ring a bell.
OP is posting the same thread we have everyday
He equates shows that happen to appeal to otakus with shows expressly designed to make a quick buck off the obsessive fan market
The examples of the mainstream shows he lists were never expressly designed to appeal to otakus nor are they solely popular with otakus. Part of the reason for their success is their general appeal to a broad demographic.
I know that's a lot to take in, so read slowly if you have to.
>Like I said, this is assuming that Trigger even went for the whole parody/ criticizing thing after all. To be fair, one can look at it from that perspective, but then again, like I said, it could also be people jumping to conclusions. Trigger probably left it open ended like that on purpose.
No, its pretty open and shut. Don't let the pretty package change your mind about the content.
>And no, I don't know what RE:CH is. Don't know the acronym and google brings up nothing. Maybe if you told me it might ring a bell.
Think about it, look it up, do some research. Google is your friend. Don't expect to be spoonfed on anything, newfag.
Lurk moar, idiot.
don't embarass the rest of us
>I was very upset when I saw Evangelion, because it was apparent to me that the people who made it weren't thinking at all about making fun for or gaining the sympathy of the audience. Instead they tried to convince the audience to admit that everybody is sick, practically in the middle of a nervous breakdown, all the time. I don't think you should show things like that to everybody. It's not entertainment for the masses--it's much more interested in admitting that we're all depressed nervous wrecks, I thought. It was a work that told people it was okay to be depressed, and it accepted the psychological state that said if you don't like the way the world works, then it's okay to just pick up a gun and attack someone. I don't think that's a real work of art. When people see that, they begin to realize they are the same way. I think that we should try to show people how to live healthier, fuller lives, to foster their identity as a part of their community, and to encourage them to work happily until they die. I can't accept any work that doesn't say that.
Yeah, he's pretty bitter. He's essentially what you retards and trolls try to make Miyazaki sound like. Miyazaki's rather resigned. He's worked in TV, he knows the way things are, he doesn't like it but he's not outspoken about it. Tomino lashes out the moment something not Gendems gets attention.
>Tomino wrote that while he applauds Isayama for using his experiences as a victim of school bullying to inspire his work, he otherwise found Attack on Titan's art crude, grotesque, and comparable to pornography.
Is a sick ass burn. Fucking SnK is shit and Isayama BTFO.
It's an abbreviation. Try using your frontal lobe.
