>>120621855 If EVA didn't create enough otaku, CCS definitely did even more. The greatest mascot in anime history and the cutest little girl who changed outfits every episode was mindblowing. Not to mention fluid animation because of it's high budget in a time where TV anime were cutting corners. The movies are the only thing I found unnecessary.
>>120621855 honestly outside of patrician circles CCS is still painfully under-appreciated. even people who agree its good like it for shitty moe reasons.
CCS managed to to be enjoyable in episodic format without ever feeling stale or lacking in plot and character development. Especially for its time, that genre is terrible for rewatching (even Sailor Moon is horrible monster of the day filler shit).
The animation does have occasional QUALITY but in general it feels on OVA standards (for the 90's) through all 70 episodes.
Haruhi. Watch it in any order and it's still shit. Disappearance, shitty anime version of The Butterfly Effect. Hunter x Hunter? Moar like Hiatus x Hiatus! If I wanted to watch a generic Japanese kid's show that will never end, I'd just go watch Crayon Shin-chan. One Punch Man, if I wanted to watch a bald faggot prance around in spandex I'd watch Star Trek. Saki, Tanoshii? More like TanoSHIIT~ Jinrui wa SuitaishimaSHIT Lupin the Third? More like POOP on the TURD Space Dandy, otaku pandering for weeaboo baka gaijijns. Gundam, if I wanted to watch a real robot I wouldn't because it would be fucking retarded. VOTOMS, if I wanted to watch a gary stu with unlimited plot armor I'd watch SAO. Fate/Zero, adding Pokemons to Bleach doesn't make it better. Toradora. More like Fecadora, amirite? Greatest love story ever told my ass. Hokuto no Ken? Gay. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure? Gayer. Rozen Maiden, shitty meme and shitty show. Aku no hana, If I wanted to see ugly chinese, I would go outside. Shinsekai Yori, adding rats wars to Elfen Lied doesn't improve the show. Steins;Gate? More like Steins;Gateway of worst kind. plebbit: the animation. Minami-ke? If I wanted to see a boy dressed as a girl, I'd look at old pictures of me in kindergarten. 20th Century Boring. Eden of The East? Please don't waste my time~ Nichibros, Square Enix jokes. Nichijou, Cromartie Highschool with shittier animation. Honey and Clover? If I wanted to watch a guy marry his retarded niece I'd go to the Ozarks. Ping Pong, if i wanted ugly asians with bad animation and art I would watch Aku no Hana. Madoka? If I wanted to watch magical girls cry I'd put on my Sailor Moon costume and look in the mirror. Seitokai Yakuindomo, only ronery 30 years old frustrated virgin will still laugh to this shit.
>>120622183 I like it for the same reason I like the original Dragon Ball; it's a fun series that doesn't take itself too seriously yet still manages to keep you hooked, while it isn't heavy on plot, is heavy on action, character development and relationships. Like with Dragon Ball, you have to be in the right mood to fully appreciate it, and it certainly won't be mistaken for high class literature, but for what it is, it's still really enjoyable.
CardCaptor Sakura is so well liked because it hit on every audience. It is the best example of a 'general audience' anime. It was a Mahou shoujo that not only young girls, but boys, grown ups and everyone could get into. Because it focused on many broader topics beyond just 'young girls using magic'. It was a tale about growing up. It was a tale about understanding friendship. It was a tale about three generations of families. The 'mahou' plot really was the sub plot, while the character developed plot was the main plot.
It says a lot when the best characters in the show (besides Sakura) are Touya and Sakura's Great Grandfather. Also, Sakura is adorable without being an airhead or 'moe'.
>>120621672 Cardcaptor Sakura is just about the only anime I'd consider flawless as close as any anime is going to get. Amazing soundtrack, amazing animation, amazing visuals, character design, voice acting, amazing characters, story is great, episodic but the episodes aren't the same old shit over and over like Sailor Moon or most other Mahou Shoujo childrens shows.
Kept me hooked the entire time, I really can't find anything bad to say about it.
>>120623851 >Episode 1, one of the slowest episodes of the show Really? I loved episode 1. I couldn't tell you how many times I rewatched the scene from when she gets on top of The Fly to capturing it. Probably my favorite scene in the show.
Its not really 'slow'. The flow just feels totally odd because the first half the episode she;s having tons of visions and you're meeting all the characters. Then suddenly after the commerical break she's slowly trying to figure out what's in her dad's office. Its just odd pacing is all.
Other episodes in the show are definitely slower. Like episode 4 (Wood and Rain) or episode 7 (The Museum/Silence Card). But after a while, you actually start to appreciate the toned down, slower pace. At least I did. because it allowed for more character development.
>Want to buy the french dub DVDs for old time sake's and to show them to my niece so she watch something other than fucking despicable me >Can't find it in Quebec (the distribution company that I believe owned the rights for it died last year) >Look up in Amazon france >only region 2 DVDs >look up the english/japanese version >180$
>>120624438 Watch the second movie as it's actually necessary to the plot and the two lead characters. The first one is a side story and a rather forgettable one at that, feel free to skip it as honestly, you wouldn't be missing much.
>>120623340 >It was a tale about growing up. It was a tale about understanding friendship. It was a tale about three generations of families Also homosexual relationships of various ages, it really did hit every audience.
>>120624632 >And the plot is still plenty connected to the story. Just not focused entirely on Sakura.
Not really. You could take it out of the series canon and nothing will have changed. I can appreciate the writers going for a darker tone, but I felt the movie as a whole was unnecessary as it didn't really add anything to the overall series. And the story itself was rather weird, even when compared to the main series.
