I would really like to hear other people's opinions about Wixoss, seasons one and two. Just marathon'd the second season.
Did you enjoy it?
I liked it a lot, but it was pretty obvious that 99% of all of the girls wishes could have just happened if they put a little more work/effort into it instead of just relying on magic.
I felt a little bit of payoff, but I agree it wasn't much. Nice to see all the girls
I enjoyed both S1 and S2, although I admit Spread had that bullshit plot with Mayu and her tulpamancy.
Well, I suppose Okada couldn't think of something better to wrap things up in 12 episodes, but it was still entertaining and the direction was very good.
Surprisingly, the two spin-off manga turned to be more interesting than the main series, read them if you haven't.
Somewhat disappointed by S2 but at least it looks good and does its atmosphere well. Enjoyable on the whole.
Which selector would you infect?
For me it's Aki-lucky.
Even though the universe made no sense, the plot was awful, and the villains and conflicts were retarded, I was still more excited for Wixoss than I was any other show airing in either season as it.
I loved the first season, found the 2nd extremely boring.
So my main complaint was that Spread was not infected and more twincest was required.
But they did focus on Ruu's issues. She realized that doing everything for yourself and then trying to sacrifice yourself without considering the feelings of others just ruins everything. Both her and Yuki changed throughout spread which is why they were able to wish everyone better. Also, Mayu's development paralleled Ruuko's.
First season was really good, S2 was pretty much garbage
I don't get why /a/ hates Wixoss's end so much, there are a lot of loved shows with worse endings, shit like Symphogear and Yuki Yuna had way worse endings and yet people still talk a fucking lot about those shows meanwhile with Wixoss it practically killed the previously vivid fanbase
Thoroughly enjoyed the first season, sort of kind of enjoyed the second and probably wouldn't have enjoyed it nearly as much if I hadn't been watching it with /a/. Last couple of episodes completely shat all over itself to an almost KLK degree, though, so that was disappointing.
If you think that a few vocal haters represent the whole board, okay.
Has a third season incoming.
From what I've read they didn't like the ending either but have tons of extra stuff (LN, VN, etc) to talk about.
As soon as scan-anon gets some new chapters up we can talk about PA or Re/verse, but even now most of the series is still talked to death. There are people who don't like the ending, but I usually come around to tell people who think it was pointless or came out of nowhere or went against the themes some things they might've missed.
Many people thinks the first season was pretty good, but I finally realized it has some big problems in the whole series. The second season was definitely dissappointing but the way the whole series ended was 'good'. I didn't like Okada decided to turn the WIXOSS to a coming-of-age story in the end of spread. WIXOSS would have been complety different. I enjoyed it but after thinking a little WIXOSS is nothing more but wasted potential. I don't feel like posting arguments right now
so you can send to the trash my opinion
>Are we all watching Yatterman now?
>How did this came into being?
>But I love it no matter.
Takara Tommy has some shares in the anime studio which is producing Yoru no Yatterman. Damn, these guys are good with managing their shit.
Can you enlighten me. What do you consider good direction? I'm trying to learn the insight of it. Leaving that aside I consider WIXOSS has great VA cast, awesome music, great music direction, top tier backgrounds and such more. It's just a shame the story was lacking a lot.
A lot of people agree infected has some issues leading up to the climax (namely having flashbacks to Yuzuki and Hanayo's scene all the time), but generally take it as an overall really solid show. I feel like a lot of people that dislike spread simply do so because it's not like infected. It has its own share of problems (like Okada not doing scripts), but it completes the story.
>I don't get why /a/ hates Wixoss's end so much, there are a lot of loved shows with worse endings
Because WIXOSS is stupid if you think about it a little.
>[...] Yuki Yuna had way worse endings and yet people still talk a fucking lot about those shows [...]
Discuss that shit in their respective thread
>[...] meanwhile with Wixoss it practically killed the previously vivid fanbase
Meanwhile we don't have new material to discuss is pointless to have threads. Remember WIXOSS was basically a long commercial for a TCG being developed by Takara Tommy in the same time as WIXOSS anime was being done. For some reason, with Okada as main writer, they succeed. Now we have two spin-offs and a future LN. We don't have nothing more to discuss. WIXOSS didn't have a prior material unlike other series which has LN, Videogames and such more.
I don't hate Wixoss as an advertisement for a card game it left me complete uninterested.
Although I'm curious to know what it would look like after 10 years of aging.
Compare 04 Yugioh to 2015 Yugioh. Now even more swaming with Pendulum Summon.
Sorry for the wait but I've been sick as fuck so unable to work on the chapters. Re\verse 04 will be done tonight, and PA 05 some time next week, with Re\verse 05. But I don't know if I'll be able to scan PA 06, since the Ultrajump is still out of stock (fucking Iggy keychain).
No pressure, get well soon.
I hope you fell well again soon. There's no need to rush. I'm behind on cleaning anyway.
Easily top5 OST of the year - and actually well used in the show - plus great OPs/EDs and voice acting.
Some damn great directing, especially in some episodes.
Neat atmosphere, setup and foreshadowing - except S2 kind of trows all of that out of the window, plus having some disappoining end and weak tone.
In other words i really liked it, but mostly for Infected, Spread a shit.
And mirror :
Thank you so much.
S1 was my AOTS. S2 was my DOTS.
This is, without exaggeration, the worst anime I have ever seen. The only thing I felt after watching it was nausea. Why was it so slow, boring, dark and depressing? What the fuck was up with the music? The concept seemed cool at first and that's it. I want to punch this piece of shit so bad.
First season is about corruption, drug addicts and making fun of madokafags,
second season is about reverse corruption, forced yuri and various other things,
also anime doesn't show much of how card game work.
S1 has some great suspenseful moments helped along by an amazing soundtrack and ends on a cliffhanger, which sets up S2 quite nicely. S2, while still entertaining, jumps the shark. Its pacing is slow and a lot of plot points set up in S1 are dropped for a shitty power of friendship ending.
First season was okay, but the story started to suffer a bit by the end. The last scene of the last episode saved it a bit, however.
The second season took that suffering story and ran with it. It really felt like the show lost its way. It had a happy ending, but was a huge disappointment overall. Currently enjoying Peeping Analyze better.
How did wixoss manage to tell a complex and thematic story about wishes, suffering, and growth over the course of two complementary cours? It really was perfect.
wasted potential in a whole new level it hurts.
This. The final episodes of Spread left me speechless. It just so underwhelming. It could have been something some much so more.
I loved it. the first season was alright. Wasn't expecting the deal with the LRIGs, which was nice. The second season while a little slow to pick up was really good, Akira and Ulith's story was awesome. Music was pretty sick too.
Asenshi devs please bring the final BD special!
wixoss is a special case, generally okada's (and other hacks) plots starts with a fairly original premise and end with a generic one
wixoss starts with a generic one and ends with a retarded one.
still pretty goods openings, and really fun to watch
Little late but eh, hopefully you'll check back.
Go through this pastebin and install lackey, in the game's folder you can then find available translated cards.
For untranslated cards, you can grab the first set and first few starters here, I'm not sure where to look for the later cards, though - wikia probably has some of the cards scanned but most are just sample images that would be too small for printing and you can't get a single archive download from there.
What the fuck? Anyone does think -Re/verse- seems like after the events of Spread?
>bullshit from the double helix prison
Just a fancy/chuuni way to say she got lifted out of her body, I imagine. Just like Hanayo told Yuzuki but she wouldn't actually get it until it happened to her.
>how the fuck Kagari 2.0 was able to transfer rights
Fair enough, I guess that cameo in spread's epilogue could just as well be from before -Re/verse-.
>Tetris, the dreams and the preludes were never to be taken as literal foreshadowing
>It was stupidly grimdark for a children's card game
>Children's Card Game
Um, sorry to say, but I think you're in the wrong General.
The prelude fits perfectly when it's addressed to Mayu.
I want to touch the fluffy Hikki inappropriately.
Time to wait patiently, like waiting for Asenshi devs to bring the final BD special.
Alright faggots, you can leave now.
Well, for some reason I think WIXOSS OST is easy to cut and put in certain parts of a scene and have impact unlike other OST in which the scene needs an almost complete track to have impact.
I can't find an explanation for the shift from Infected to Spread.
I'd find pretty hard for a little girl to develop such condition.
Iona has the best body.
>tfw Yuki will rather bear Ruuko's children instead of your own.
Is not fair that fucking lesbos are this level of breeding material.
shut up Hitoe
>Did you enjoy it?
Much, until they decided to shit on us.
Holy crap, special 3 was amazing. I don't know how Okada does it.
Anyone knows moon?
This shit feels something like a must read. Google translation tells me it's talking about putting big names in the credits when the people isn't actually working on them at the moment.
Aww yeah, nigga.
I doubt she has anything to do with the specials, I might be wrong though.
>some fag's opinion on a blog
I don't think so, Tim.
Seems the card game is still doing well in Japan. Let's see how long Takara Tommy can keep it going. Hopefully it lasts long enough to have a shit-ton of merchandise like games and movies.
Just an assumption but I think he copy-pasted the layout of the links above and accidentally included the link to Ch. 3.
Ch. 4 isn't typeset yet.
Some anon did a quick TS on it, search the archive if you need it that bad.
Weirdly enough, reading the translation of Infected's ED makes it seem more fitting to be Spread's ED because it talks of finding someone in the summer after choosing to walk a particular path.
>Ch. 4 isn't typeset yet
Sorry. I know I said the end of the month. I've been distracted by yuri scanlator drama. It can't be helped.
Hey, no pressure. Quality is worth waiting for.
>I've been distracted by yuri scanlator drama
Why can't they just get along?
>Why can't they just get along?
You would never believe that the love of gay little girls is the source of so much faggotry. Usually I try and ignore it but this involves people I've worked with in the in the past.
Polite sage because this has nothing to do with PA.
>Eldora with open hair
I didn't know that I want this so much.
Do you care for complete SFX, or would you rather faster releases
From a cleaning or typeset standpoint?
I certainly like SFX but yours looks incredibly complex (no offense). How do you make it? I definitely appreciate the effort but I bet it's very time consuming.
I do quite a lot of hand lettering I guess. Redraws still take the bulk of the time.
Kind of embarrassing but I had this page done, but for some reason I hid the type and redraw layers and forgot to re-enable them. V2 on madokami sometime I guess.
>I do quite a lot of hand lettering I guess.
Did you try the Puppet Warp tool? It's quite handy to move single objects, like letters, around.
>Redraws still take the bulk of the time.
That's what I thought. How would the quick TS of you look like? Any idea?
>Isn't puppet warp for raster layers only?
Yes, but scaling the letters down has almost no quality loss. I'm not too experienced with it, though. Just a thought I had.
In the end it's up to you. This is all a voluntary thing and I'm grateful no matter what.
Aside from the voice talents, the incidental music, and the incest drama, I'm also impressed by the names that they came up for the card game :WIXOSS, LRIG, and SIGNI sounds rad to me. I'd buy a deck if I could.
>Piruluk and Midoriko giving chocolates to each other
Ulith so cute.
The characters spent too much time being uncooperative and mopey about having to play a card game. There was like a 10 episode stretch without any BATORU! BATORU!
Also if a teenage girl kidnaps your friend, ties her up, and holds her hostage, just call the fucking police. It's not like a card game is going to help there.
>I knew she had a twin.
>Different last names
>Lackey plugin still hasn't updated
>one of my main reasons for staying in Wixoss threads
I guess I'll read the manga series then
How up to date are translations?
They will never explain how come Midoriko, Piruluk and Hanayo are a thing in the normal TCG.
What is there to explain? Mayu decides their outfits so she just gave outfits she saw in the card game to girls that looked similar. The rest get generic color-centric outfits, like Futase and I think we saw a few more but can't remember when.
Infected was great.
Damn shame that there will never be a second season.
>Planned to buy all the BDs because the series deserved it
>Wanted to shell out some dosh for the cards too
>Spread starts airing
>Spread finishes airing
And that's the story of how I saved $1234.95.
Ruu a DFC
Aki lovely > Aki lucky
Usually I love DFC and dislike larger chests, but in Wixoss there was something special about Yuki.
The cards felt too forced. The relationships would have played better if it wasn't for that.
Also, tama is purest
It might have also been her toned torso
>still no BD Special 03
I want to make Iona Urazoe my friend.
I'm glad these threads stay up without me bumping them for days.
I enjoyed spread, had no major complaints, except for I wish there was 12 more episodes.
I don't even know why I enjoyed this series so much, or why I can't be assed enough to read the manga or study the card game.
I enjoyed WIXOSS. I enjoyed the whole ride I had back then in late night from episode 1 to episode 9. I was totally invested in the series I couldn't pay attention to
the the actual problems with Infected and why them makes it bad but not as Spread. When I joined the threads from episode 10, 11 and 12 all the charm was dissppearing. I had a lot of complains about the final episodes but I was kind of impressed in the last episode. I was getting into Mari Okada too and her dissappointing writing changed the way I see anime. Later, with Spread's episode 1 I was relieved because I thought the series had a clear path to follow and develop the story around it, but then each episode was nothing but dissappointed. I didn't enjoy many episodes and what I enjoyed the most was rewriting the events of each episode of Spread in my mind. Of course, I won't deny there were great episodes in which the musical direction, the voice acting, the artistical photography and the direction were great. It's just sad a series with great potential had this conclusion.
Aside all this shit, I'm kind of happy for Takara Tommy mostly because they had the balls to hire a controversial writer to produce an original anime with a 'bad' studio like J.C. STAFF in which they never cared to explain the mechanics of the TCG and they wanted to tell a story using the TCG as an element. My final thought will be always the same: under the right hands, WIXOSS would have been AOTY-material.
I knew it had problems cause I carried right over from Nagi ep 25/26 and knowing all the reasons Okada is a shit, I had 0 hype backlash and 0 complaints. Does Wixoss have flaws yes many yet of all anime in 2014 I watched over 100 of them it is my favorite, except for maybe G-Reco and Shirobako which are not finished yet. Infected has such a creepy yet nostslgic atmosphere I've seen nowhere else, and while spread had less atmosphere it was still just as fun and I already loved the characters. All in all I loved it.
also the reason I defend spread is, as you yourself said, infected 10-12 is kind of shit. Therefore spread was no worse than infected, it was equal. Very fun and lovable series.
Wixoss was AOTY for me because while it wasn't the best it was the anime had fun with.
Get anally fucked with the wrong end rake.
I've been cleaning and redrawing nearly all night, give a me break.
>wanting your plots to make sense
what are you, some kid of faggot?
No. S1 had great build up for atmosphere and tension.
Then S2 went full retard by making Ruuko turn into Batoru Jesus.
Seriously, what ever the fuck happened to the disturbing Ruuko scenes in S1? They never quite delivered on what was exactly wrong with Ruuko.
Ulith best girl.
>great sense of humor
Ulith spinoff when?
I want the misadventures of Kiyoi and Ryoko.
It has daily futaba threads as far as I can tell.
>What do they even talk about?
The game and manga.
>Do tell me they actually made a line to fuck Piruluk.
Something like that, not every thread though.
What were the problems of Season 2?
>focus on a "let's save everyone!" plot rather than development of individual characters like S1
>shonen style powerups
>weak worldbuilding (so this whole thing exists because one girl felt alone and somehow magiced a game into existence?)
>People still don't understand Ruuko
And this is why Okada is 2deep4u for most people.
Interview with the PA artist showing early designs and stuff.
Already Unlike Kiyoshikoromo = Piruruku that have appeared in the TV anime, the remember will be the first appearance in this film. Any form in or would do was decided now of character with.
Initially it seems from Kiyoshikoromo chan decided to strange pose as the "guy Uzai", I'm supposed to or there is something like idle setting, came out elements Tteyuu divination If you notice. Dress also Toka or there is also the sister-ish, at first I guard was stiff less more skin color area. However, the only see-through among them rather want to remove is in his, initially lower body also continue doing what I have been doing in like a wind might almost look ....
And became Bitch Ppoku.
A result that was finally lost a jacket to go to match the large number of skin-colored area of the other Rurigu, it became current form. Just Among them, in thought that a good child, such as seen in silhouette of a glance when you lined up Rurigu, and Toka or put a ribbon on the head, Toka skirt long in long hair, and Ikima by differentiation by issuing the gorgeous feeling was.
Also from the cast's not only readers, there is a voice that "somewhere dark world of anime is reflected." In other words Kiyoshikoromo to the remember is "properly" terrible is that has been adapted to the eye, but ....
Receives as words and compliments about it, and Mr. Tsukamoto I had this mission is to me "ze did it!". I like I'm there to me like I'm glad "terrible".
I was hilarity.
Get fucking over it.
Can't resist the Ruuko charm.
That was the reason i picked it up too.
Woah, all those (IMHO) high profile series.
I have a thing for black Yuki..
I didn't like that they dropped the whole backstory with Ruu's mom. Why was Ruu scary?
Also we never got an explanation as to why Hitoe was able to make friends again...
Other than that, enjoyed what Wixoss had to offer. Was a fun ride.
Here's what I think based on the information we've been given. Ruuko was scary because she was a child without any desires. Kids are supposed to be selfish and always demand things, but Ruu didn't. Likely, every time her mom asked her something like what she wanted to eat, or what she wanted for her birthday, Ruu didn't want anything in particular. This leads to why mom didn't know what Ruu was thinking, which scared her.
As was revealed in spread, the Selector system was just something made by Mayu, a single girl (with some sort of power derived from her psychological state of being isolated for so long). We know that becoming a Selector again or having your wish granted through coincidence isn't what fixed Hitoe due to evidence related to Akira's circumstances. Therefore we can say that it was Hitoe's own will and her fighting through her pain that broke her punishment. After all, in the first place it was given to her by a single girl, so why couldn't she, as a single girl, undo it? We see Ruuko change the rules of the game, so it's definitely possible.
>Why was Ruu scary?
Because she had no desires. Imagine a child that doesn't want anything.
>Also we never got an explanation as to why Hitoe was able to make friends again...
The rules of the selector system are vague as fuck.
Yuzuki said she can't become human again if she tells her selector everything but this isn't true as Peeping Analyze showed us.
It was never said that Hitoe's condition is irreversible so it's technically not impossible to remove it.
I guess I could kinda see why that made Ruu scary as a kid but it sounds more like a lackluster explanation than anything else. It ignores the state her mother was in and her family situation. Some parents would even write Ruu not wanting anything off as being a selfless kid so it really just seems like a dropped plot point for a show focusing on the psychology of it's characters.
So overcoming Mayu's psychological state through control of one's own state enabled Hitoe to break the condition on her. I could get behind that behind that reasoning.
I think it was a combination of both Ruuko and her mother. Part of why Baa-chan said she wasn't fit to be a mother both implied that she 1) Couldn't handle Ruu specifically, and 2) Couldn't handle any child. That's extending past my usual explanation though.
>I think it was a combination of both Ruuko and her mother.
If the explanation does lie in something so simple, I think the show really dropped the ball in not highlighting all of this better.
I mean seriously, all we got was that phone call baachan had, and then Ruuko's conversation with her afterwards at the end of the first season, and there was so much going on on the card game side of the story that that scene was almost completely lost within the narrative.
But who am I kidding. This is Okada.
