To all the SEAfags, chinese fags or whatever fags you are as long as you celebrate Lunar New Year, I wished you a happy new year!
With this, 2014 is finally over for good, we can expect 2015 with less plane crashing and more good chinese contents being generated this year. Oh, and better moderation.
I was about to post a goat but I've nothing like that so have a Tsukihi instead.
and here's a animu sheep from best-china
Happy lunar new year OP. Looking forward to more
Really? Stuffs that don't exist on the internet but got localized in our home country is pretty rare, I don't even know if there's thing like that or not. Worse, the localized version might get butchered by the publisher, like unoriginal censoring for example.
In the olden days, several manga were imported into comic-friendly countries like France. Even the US got a few though. These were not picked up (or dropped) by first-gen scanlators because they were licensed.
Modern scanlation is mostly about finding the most popular title and releasing it for epeen, so old forgotten titles will easily be overlooked.

Wow, I expected this thread to be pretty dead, but seeing it dead for real it's a little painful
Hi there my fellow commie man.
Which mean no hope for something new then.
Yeah, assuming we're on the right track here, I'm talking about manga published in
Taiwan. They have a pretty large selection. Wouldn't be surprised if they're up there with the French.
Ah right, I forgot how China got tons of manga and doujinshi (those fucking sadpanda chinese scan that exist before the original did) from Jap, both illegally and legally published.
The amount of material they published that haven't been scanned online is quite staggering. Each time I take a look at their publishers' sites I die a little inside knowing I'd never be able to find them anywhere unless I fly over and visit a bookstore there one of these days. But then I could just improve my moon instead of relying on localized shit all my life.
The BL scene is also apparently pretty big as well.
This is way more popular than I expected, and even when I know it, sometime it still amazed me.
The actual amount of commie on /a/ is pretty big, I would say somewhere below or maybe above 100 but that's just pulling shit out of my ass. Chinese commie is another story though.
What? Why? At the first place, there isn't much (or there isn't) thread that's related to vietcong at the first place.
I mean that the actual number of vietcong on /a/ is higher than most vietcong think.
>Japan used to follow the Chinese calendar, which is lunar and usually starts around our early February. They also followed most of the Chinese festivals, which are set to coincide with usual agricultural events, which suited a nation of almost exclusive rice peasants.
>Japan is often regarded as a staunchly conservative country which protects its traditions very well. One thinks the basis of time-keeping of their people would be worthy of protection too. But hey it was also important to catch up with the Western industrial powers. Maybe the Japanese elite found it necessary to go all the way, and little by little convinced their people of the need to reform, for the glory of the nation. Right?
>Wrong. The Calendar was changed in January 1st 1873. But the law was only announced in December 9th 1872.
>Usually civil servants in Japan had their salary paid annually. But in 1872 the Meiji government changed it to monthly payment. However the Chinese calendar is lunar, with 12 months. So it only has 354 days, less than a full circle around the sun. What they do is add a whole intercalary month so the calendar doesn’t drift too much from the seasons. As it happens 1873 in the old calendar had an intercalary month, so 13 months in total. That means 13 salaries for the Japanese civil service. And that’s something that the recently established Meiji government couldn’t afford.
>By adopting whitey’s calendar, the next year would only have 12 months. And the new calendar was to start in January 1st 1873, which coincided with December 2 of the old calendar. By changing the calendar, the month of December would disappear, so that’s another month worth of salaries they could save! 2 months in one strike, imagine that.
tl;dr Japan would still be on the Chinese lunisolar calendar too if not for a cheapskate government seizing a unique opportunity in 1873.
>To all the SEAfags, chinese fags or whatever fags you are as long as you celebrate Lunar New Year
>Countries that still celebrate Lunar New year:
>worth a thread in /a/
I bet they do that to shave off some national holidays too. So nips have only one 'New Year' like other western countries, unlike countries still using Lunar calendar.
It lasts shorter than your average thread, no need to butthurt.
I'm pretty sure countries using lunisolar systems only pay attention to January 1st to do business with countries on Gregorian and save the "real" festivities for the traditional calendar.
Hell, even Japan kept all the "old ways" of celebrating New Years and just changed the date.
The old generation is complete shit. Young generation is the hope. The government here pumping propaganda into our brain since we are just kids, but well, there is the internet. But living here is quite fun. You just have the same problem as other countries: finding jobs after graduate
My apologize, I was a little too happy to see my countryman. It's not an usual thing to see here. I'll try to keep my identity to myself better from now on.
Since the thread doesn't have many things to do with /a/ and the celebration have calmed, it's best to put on sage now. Shouldn't abuse hospitality letting this thread stays alive.
Wow, there are more here than I thought.
No they don't. They don't even know what the one true flag look like. We could have been great like the Jap or Korean or at least Thailand if only the Americans had won. Fucking communist government ruined everything.
Fun fact: Chinese had been in the Khmer Krom area (the so called "south" Vietnam) way before the Viet started taking the land from rightful owner that is Khmer empire. Polpot was just trying to correct that.
> Inb4 not anime related
I'm fine with Communist party winning the war. If American had won the war, Vietnam now would be no less than a puppet state. And not all American funded country turned out well, see Nicaragua and other South American countries.
Fuck you commie. Irrelevant Latin America countries don't count because they weren't the motherfucking PEARL of Asia. Vietnam had the greatest potential of any Asian countries at its height, or at least's what Saigon was. Do you think South Korea or Japan is a puppet state now? Is there even any former colonized country that's still a puppet state today? American winning would have been a great thing, period.
It was just another shitty tropical shit hole powered by American dollar. The people are lazy, chaotic and have no work ethics at all.
A great country with great work ethics and discipline and traditional, mind if I remind you that the world oldest companies are in Japan?
> South Korea
Pretty much a shit hole in the 50s and 60s until they got their shit together, with the management experience from the colonial time (by Japan) and crazy work discipline disregard of worker life.
Just a mini China
Shithole for thousands of years without any noticeable achievements in any area such as trading, science, technology. Only the "Hurr durr we won all the war".
> implying it isn't the shitty tropical humid that defeated the invaders.
Google Zomia for more info.
What are you even trying so say?
And that's somehow worse than being depended on China and Russia in our situation? You know what, the commies can do whatever the fuck they want if they keep it to themselves in the North and make a new country with Hanoi as a capital. Keep away from central and southern Vietnam for the Republic of South Vietnam and people who actually love freedom. I would laugh if the North turn out to be a shithole like North Korea today. You're just a brainwashed commie kid in denial.
Well, southernfag here and I kinda agree with him. I don't think it would become a great country like Japan or Singapore, but i think it would be better than our current Vietnam.
And you disregard too much good point of us. I agree that we're shit, but we still have some redeemable qualities.
> the motherfucking PEARL of Asia. Vietnam had the greatest potential of any Asian countries at its height, or at least's what Saigon was.
> American winning would have been a great thing, period.
And I argue that it's delusional to think that American winning would be a good thing. Japan and Korea are way different from Vietnam and South Vietnam back then was just another corrupt state backed up by US dollar, they collapsed right at the moment USA stopped giving money.
I don't actually believe the southern >< northern is an actual thing until this thread.
The people in north aren't as brainwashes as you think (or at least I hope so). This side is also too sick of all these farce.
Oops, i mean northern.
> we still have some redeemable qualities.
Care to give me some?
Sience? Lolz, we have contributed pretty much *nothing* to the world.
(and the two best mathematicians are happen to be northerners under Soviet commie education).
Unlike Chinese merchants who are really good, we haven't had any kind of proper trading system or 'economy' during the whole history.
Now then, this is getting off topic, make a topic in /int/ or something, I can argue all day there. I'm bored anyway.
Even if the freedom guvment turn to shit, it would still be better shit than the current socialist government. I agree with you about South Vietnam having corrupt government. Japan and Korea definitely had better leaders who know what they were doing back then and that is definitely why they succeeded.
The northerners are awfully archaic and reserved. They're far too stuck up their ass to listen to anything new. I've been up there once and I will never go back again. I'm sorry to say but all of us southerners hate your accent and manner. Even if they don't say it to your face, they hate your gut deep down inside.
