Is Madoka a required anime?
I've held off watching it because it seems like a faux-intellectual show for edgy otaku, but there's always an abundance of threads about it on /a/.
Buzzwords don't get magically less stupid if you use synonyms to say the same thing.
May I just suggest making up your own mind, retard? If that's too much for you, maybe you should seek out a different internet community.
There is no "required-tier", no essentials list, nothing of the kind. Everything you do you do for yourself.
>I'd rather not waste any time watching something I have no interest in
Then you better just stop watching anime altogether.
The anime isn't really intellectual or edgy.
Watch the first 5 episodes (which is only about 2 hours anyway), then make a judgement.
except for NGE. NGE is required.
If you're going to take an interest in anime you better be ready to waste a lot of time diving through piles and piles of shit until you find a turd that's not as shitty as the rest.
Also, letting random anonymous people on /a/ tell you what's worth watching and what's not is much more reliable a sign of mental problems if you ask me.
I mean it depends. I'd say watch what you want to watch but if you want to discuss a medium intelligently then their is required material.
aka discussing literature without reading the bible is super fucking retarded because you miss a shit ton of stuff.
I can't take people who try to make Madoka seem smart and profound seriously.
It's a fun thriller but it's by no means "intellectual." In fact, it's actually pretty shallow.
>I'd say watch what you want to watch but if you want to discuss a medium intelligently then their is required material.
I'd agree carefully.
>aka discussing literature without reading the bible is super fucking retarded
No it isn't. Just be careful not to discuss literature too deeply grounded in the bible.
For anime it's the same. If you wish to discuss mecha, then you better know your Tomino, and your Anno, and all those other important titles. /a/ can't even manage to do that though. I ran into people who thought NGE is an example of an original story.
So really, watch whatever the fuck you want. Or people like >>121468020 who (ironically) think it's the only anime you need to know.
There's the sensible way of finding anime to watch, and the dole-bludger's way.
One involves doing a bit of research to find out whether or not it conforms to my tastes.
The other involves just watching whatever you can find, because there's nothing to lose; it's not like time spent watching would be invested anywhere else.
BTW, I was asking if it was considered required.
>asking /a/ if it's "considered required"
It's still possible to get some sort of idea in regards to whether or not I like it, based on the summary & other peoples' input. Based on the former, there are plenty of other animes I'd rather spend my time watching, but I'm open to hearing about what the latter has to say.
Protip, most people on /a/ who aren't raging casuals such as yourself do research what they watch. In fact they're much more efficient at it then you are, clearly, yet none of them are making retarded threads like this one.
I wouldn't even call this research; I'm pretty sure I'll live my entire life without devoting even a millisecond to watching Madoka. I just wanted to know if it fell into the 'required anime' pool, which I believe is a meme.
I heard the others are Evangelion, Boku no Pico and Dokuro-Chan.
I thought Madoka was good, but mainly as an alternative take on magical girl series and not this enormous success it's become. I can't imagine rewatching it and I haven't bothered with the movies yet.
It's one of those shows I'd suggest someone really familiar with anime watch, but low power level people probably skip since it won't mean as much.
Get a load of this faggot.
Your time isn't even as close as valuable as you think it is if you're posting on 4chan waiting for anonymous people telling you to watch something or not.
I don't even know if you're being serious anymore, but there was never an /a/-core or a "required anime" list that /a/ agreed upon. The only thing /a/ as a whole has ever agreed upon is that nobody here can agree on anything. Lurk more and stop assuming so much.
>Should I waste my time on this anime so I can fit in better on an anime board who's sole purpose is to waste my time?
This is another reason I'm ill-inclined to watch it. The guy's a perfect example of an edgy writer who doesn't understand a lot of the basic fundamentals.
Urobutcher's nowhere near as good of a writer as he, or his fans think he is.
Retard, you don't 'held off' stuff in your backlog, you watch then when you have nothing to do.
If you have the time to ask on /a/, watch it anyways, since you're gonna waste your 'precious time'.
>based on the summary & other peoples' input.
>this thread, as well
How much time did you waste trying to find out if you would be wasting your time watching a one-cours show?
Christ, man. You could burn through it and Rebellion in one night without being a massive faggot for all to see.
Instead you got spoiled on everything in this thread. If something is as big as Madoka obviously is don't even look up summaries or anything, since going in blind is going to be better 100% of the time.
yuyuyu was better than madoka and actually made me care for the characters and did it in 12 episodes while madoka needed more episodes to flesh out characters other than homura
