What went wrong?
the main character was pushed aside as a side character, his awesome powers that developed in the first season were removed gimping him, and it focused on a girl no one cared about
Nothing went wrong. S1 was a self-inclusive story and so it was fine for S2 to be its own story that you either like or don't like. It's perhaps not as enjoyable as how well the first season built up its world and its characters, but it has its own appeal.
I agree with this. The anime certainly had it's own appeal, or I'm just a sucker for the cliched "hero loses power; he must use his brains and brawn to overcome obstacle" storyline.
And how can you dislike the UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ when Hei comes into a fight scene? It's average at best.
Rahxephon is actually really fun to watch right after watching Evangelion. The writers were clearly big Eva geeks and wanted to do the show themselves, I guess. Fucking crazy shit.
The run-away girlfriend dolem episode is fantastic though. Feelpocalypse.
Being episodic is the only way for BONES to not screw it all up. S2 started strong, turned weak then simply went trash tier.
While I admit season 2's plot was a trainwreck, it did more with the characters then 1 ever dreamed of.
from the premise that my opinions of season 1 are incorrect, or because I preferred season 2?
>The writers were clearly big Eva geeks and wanted to do the show themselves, I guess.
The guy in charge of the writing was legitimately friends with Anno and wanted to take his own shot at 3deep5u mecha and included some shoutouts for Eva to acknowledge that. And so everyone ended up calling it a ripoff instead.
