Getting caught back up to LH2, starting from episode 14. (after the shitty valentine's day episode)
2nd half is much better than the first. First half had too much akatsuki samey shit filler, the only good episodes were gamer speech and gold episodes. I love that chibi ninja but she was being such a cunt in those episodes.
2nd half has a different thing every episode, and a good focus on the characters. I don't mind the scrub episodes since my favorite episodes in LH1 was Rudy episodes.
Mamare-sensei is a really good writer, his characters are really 3-dimensional and it is impossible to butcher that too badly even with a studio like DEEN. And I don't think DEEN is just phoning it in, sure you can do >DEEN screencaps, but a lot of the filler content feels like it has a touch of love even though a lot of it was a swing and a miss.
It's nice how the characters continue to cope with their new world, people sometimes said it was bad how the characters never care about being stuck in the MMO, but you see they are still growing and learning. It keeps that balance of the characters getting accustomed to their new world and the general world-building that was there in the original.
I could go for some pizza. And where the fuck is crusty!
on the contrary, i feel like he's devoted his focus entirely on the world-building aspects of log horizon that he's completely neglected any semblance of character development since episode 1 of the show, besides for literally solely minori
every other character is a cardboard cutout, with shiro being the biggest culprit. he's done or thought absolutely nothing that would give him a semblance of a real personality. they're all archetypes that've been pretty lazily thrown in.
it doesn't make the show necessarily bad, but you just have to go in knowing that you're getting (almost) nothing in the character development sector.
Does Henrietta get her development in the anime or not?
>2nd half is much better than the first
no it's not you fucking faggot. aside from that one episode in china, the rest has been fucking SHIT. who even gives a shit about scrub horizon? fuck i can't even remember half those faggots names. who gives a shit about some faggot suicide knights? god what a fucking waste this second half has been. sad to say but this series peaked with the girls of maple house episode.
Loser, Ugly, Fatty, Faggy, Cripple. yfw second cour and best girl still gets the ED theme
What the fuck, this is the most insane thing I've seen all day. China episode was a rushed wreck. They obviously just wanted to get to this part of the story which is pretty damn thematically relevant to the series.
All amazing characters.
>akatsuki best girl
I agree, but she gets the worst episodes because of shit writing and >deen.
Is that bahsakah?
half an episode of kaname punching shit > 6 episodes of isuzu angst about not really having talent
the build up to her fight was amazing. deen gets a lot of flack for being deen, but i think her kuren arc was handled fantastically
>China episode was a rushed wreck.
OP here, China confused me too. It was OK but it felt like a Tomino show with weird exposition and "Why do I care?" shit. To be fair, was this adapted from the LN or that spinoff manga? If it was the latter I'd much rather have a rushed filler that was cool than a pointless episode.
Was adapted from the short story that was later expanded into a novel.
The episode wasn't pointless because it revealed the Geniuses, which Roe2 is going to explain next episode.
City is getting destroyed better sing a fucking song. Christ.
But I am correct, right, it was a side content adaptation not from the main LN series right?
That is why I give Deen credit, some of their filler content is pure shit but some of it is a good way to pad out the content and develop characters. I felt the China episode was too rushed since it was essentially extra content to begin with I'm glad they added it.
a lot of ground was covered in the first season. just because the pace changed at the start of s2 you lose your shit? the pacing in the first cour was handled expertly IMO. particularly in akatsuki's kuren arc where the build up of suspense leading up to the final fight made the pay off so much more rewarding.
where the fuck are you getting that? the whole point of akatsuki's arc was her internal struggle and how the people around her were there for her to help her find her path. THAT was a fantastic watch. as was William + Shiroe's struggles to a lesser extent. But what the actual fuck could you possibly like about the last 5-6 episodes of wagon riding, boring ass camping, and cripple boy crushing? And Isuzu's "oh no i'm not really an artist" - resolved in one episode.Trash
I'll agree and disagree
Volume 6 was a bore to get through because most of it is Akatsuki and the Princess moping. The Overskill/Teachings are what saved it, and the final fight was pretty good.
Volume 7 was good through the entire thing.
In the first half, the anime decided to anime both of these simultaneously because they take place at the same time, basically. While this helps with the initial drag of Volume 6 it also kills the good parts of Volume 7. I can't say if this was a good or bad decision, honestly.
The Valentines episode, while mostly filler, also had an essential scene from the novels, so I'll excuse it.
The Kanami episode was rushed as all fuck and mostly unexplained. Reading spoilers after going through the episode, I thought they could use at least two episodes on it, to explain more about Frog's and Kanami's Overskill, and the Geniuses
The Scrubs arc started out alright. But then it fell onto the same bore that was Volume 6, which is way too much moping. I do like the important shit that's happening around, but Isuzu isn't helping.
I don't mind the QUALITY as much as I thought I would, either.
this episode was 10/10
Found this couple weeks old post, and it accurately sums up my opinions of episode 18. This is the kind of log horizon I remembered. Although I will add Dariella is a cool character too, compared to Isuzu/Rudy drama, you can tell Dariella is also going through her own drama of not having to be the bad quest NPC she was programmed to be. This is why I loved Log Horizon.
>where the fuck are you getting that?
Maybe from this.
half an episode of kaname punching shit > 6 episodes of isuzu angst about not really having talent
The last 3 episodes are great because of the setting intrigue. The concept of there being only 42 songs, the fact that everything's run through an auto-translator, how people who were forced to leave important things behind treat death in this world. The direction has taken a step up too if you couldn't tell. I'm only talking about the last 3 episodes. If all you drew from that was a cripple getting beat up and Isuzu not having confidence, then you need to start getting your head up and running.
Tohya's experience runs in perfect parallel with the odyssey knights, he lost everything in the real world and gained everything from the apocalypse. The fact that they can't understand each other makes perfect sense. Isuzu's inferiority complex and solid view of cold reality also make perfect sense. And she still doesn't think she's a professional, she's only singing at the end because she couldn't stand the knights' view of the world and realized she had the power to make a difference.
Belittling charaters' experiences and struggles is a terrible way to watch anime. What constitutes as a mature thought process is completely subjective.
By the way, I heard Nyanta does Kirei voice in the latest episode (ep. 20), how hype is that? Does he go full justice on the bad guys?
Do you mean Isuzu or Akatsuki?
Isuzu has been moping for three episodes. The first one is completely okay, she just learned how music works in this world and how important her music is to all the Landers even though she feels she's untalented.
Second episode she mopes a little more and sings the ED, which is annoying.
Third episode she mops some MORE and then finally sings her actual song. It just took too long, IMO.
Oh stop already. The second and third isn't even moping. Moping is when someone isn't doing anything and just feel sad for herself. She's done moping in the second one. Are you the same guy who take the winding road shit that Tohya said literally?
Every scene in the last episode was the best.
And Willam's speech episode was fine. I truly feel sorry for people who've never experienced the frustrating lows and exhilarating highs of challenging content and throwing yourself at walls over and over with your guildbros until everything clicks and you finally win.
Couldn't agree more. I am
crying the same tearsI remember from S1. It's not bogged down in exposition or stupid crap, it is a mature but simple look at how these realistic people react in the MMO world that became real. So much more is going on in this 2nd cour, with the different characters and different themes, it is really a joy to watch. What a step up compared to the 1st half.
What is the difference between Nureha-sama and Kanima-sama? I kept hearing about them last cour, and this cour they seem connected but I am still confused about what is their role in the story. I assume they were both PCs at some point but what are their goals and motivations?
Nureha was in the last episode of S1, was that a dream or was it real?
Also, side note, I had no idea this whole time that Dariella was Nureha; I thought she was a genuine person of the land, who would get healed by Tohya
Onoda-kunjust like Rudy and Isuza were healing each other. Was she really hiding out as Dariella this whole time or was I mistaken?
>How did you manage to miss that?
I thought she was a regular NPC, and would have her owner "becoming human" arc like NEET princess from the orignal
Roe2 alone the name is obvious, her clothes too, and something about her makes her voice obviously "different". What is her VA from? sounds like monkey from monoshit.
OP here. This is the weirdest thing to me. Where do you determine if they are anons or people of the land? As far as I'm concerned, this is done better than "is she even human" movies for GitS. You're left with the different scrubs, Kirei Kotoiminyan, Shiroe, Roe2, etc. with so many options, this is a great cliffhanger.
He sounds a mixation between Kirei voice and Nyanta voice to me. Just got there. I saw a couple 90's series by him recently, so it's a kinda funny combination to think of.
Sorry man, but they used all the budget for that and the rest of the season on the traintop fight. And honestly, a mad woman with big bouncy titties or a bunch of rubble? DEEN made the right choice.
If they did that, then Akasuki vs the lander and Nayta vs crazy bitch would of had their swords glowing with each slash and Akasuki's fight would of been much better animated. It's a real shame Deen shit on this so badly because these are the last fights we have for those characters for a while in the novels the only thing that's changed is that they are going to the moon
Well personally I would have liked it if they used that budget to animate Kanami's bust more consistently, but oh well close enough. But 3 sizes consistently is an important thing ya know? It should be a priority. Unless you're Serara but everyone knows that's due to Niggercat's fried chicken. Notice how she slimmed down the moment they separated?
>I truly feel sorry for people who've never experienced the frustrating lows and exhilarating highs of challenging content and throwing yourself at walls over and over with your guildbros until everything clicks and you finally win.
It's called the real world anon. It has the same thing except the consequences matter more than just failing a dungeon again and again.
I experienced more exhilaration completing my first big project my boss gave me than achieving gold league in SC2 as a casual player nonetheless. But whatever makes you happy.
So many emotionally retarded anons in this thr-
Oh, I forgot where I was for a minute.
The Akatsuki Overskill/Teachings arc was revolutionary. Grow the fuck up. This isn't 389 episodes of Ichigo learning to Bankai. You should have left behind that kind of "The main shonen is the only one in the universe" mentality with your ages that end in -teen. Other characters matter as much as, and sometimes more than, the main character.
I know the concept is foreign to anyone who is socially isolated enough to bitch about Log Horizon, BUT: Imagine that there is a thing called "relationships" in this world, and in the Log Horizon world. The first half of the second season was about one of these things called a "relationship".
The second half was the author doing something different than Ichigo learning Bankai for 390 episodes. Shut the fuck up and let DEEN tell his story. If you don't like it, go back to your moronic Transformers/Super Sayian crossover fanfics.
The "drama" of the latest episodes is really cringeworthy.
Like the kids getting batshit insane because the dudes found an easy to respawn and then died over and over. What the fuck? It's a game and they suck at it, why make such a drama about it. Don't get me started about the "who am I? where should I go?" faggotry.
The raid episodes were cool and the china one was cool too
>The Akatsuki Overskill/Teachings arc was revolutionary
Are you retarded? Overskill was introduced long before.
The important things from the arc was the flavor text reveal and the crafting stuff. Way to completely miss the fucking point.
That's what I was talking about. I didn't feel like explaining it, though, because I have a lot of other threads to get mad mad mad about today and not enough time.
I was only calling them the Akatsuki/Overskill/Teachings arc as a point of reference.
Since I didn't explain it well, I meant the idea of taking a 2-dimensional character like Akatsuki ("SHE IS A ROLEPLAYER SHE RPS A NINJA GET IT?") and giving her the whole "I want to get stronger" arc, and tying it in at the same time with the reveals about the moon, the sea of memories, and what all those weird dreams were about, was completely new and on-point.
Also, the introversion: The person she chose to become, that she couldn't become in the real world, is just as socially isolated in the end. No ability to communicate meant no friends, few party dungeon crawls, zero guilds, and zero raids. Hence, zero phantasmal loot. She also couldn't ask for help with anything, and suffered from that until the maple story tea babysitter club became actual friends.
Despite all of that, she hit level 90. That means she spent a lot of time alone, isolated, wondering if she'd ever be able to connect to another human being even in a fantasy world.
I thought the Akatsuki arc was pretty solid, it could have been condensed a little but the core of it was effective.
The scrubs arc grew into something good by the end with the Wyvern battle and introducing the Odyssey knights into the story, which was a nice shift in that up till now we haven't really seen that many people truly distraught at being trapped in the new world, but their arc also spent far, far too long dilly dallying about. I can only watch so many scenes of them being excited for their upcoming road trip before I want the actual roadtrip to happen, or making food or whatever. It lacked momentum until the last few episodes.
Would cuddle the fluff all day
