How the fuck does shit like this happen? What kind of editor would greenlight this?
My local hobby lobby had advertisements for monthly "manga drawing tutorial" classes with examples from the instructor that were of roughly this quality.
I can just imagine the spergs that would convince their parents to spend their money on this shit.
sorry, I don't actually own this shit.
slightly less pathetic book - this time, we do street fighter which is totally manga
>the only half decent I could find is written by a jap
fucking gaijin authors btfo
seriously though, who would publish this kind of shit? do old people atually believe this is what manga looks like?
I remember reading this "how to draw manga" book in the early 2000s. It was so dated compared to the style of the time, but it was actually pretty cool. It also gave my middle school-self boners in a couple of the sections.
I bought this at a school book fair back when I was in like middle school.
I'm 28 now so that gives you an idea how old this shit is. I also took an art class in school and had to turn in a 'friday sketch' so I would just trace shit from a random page of Newtype magazine and turn it in and would always get perfect credit.
>how to draw japanese comics
Arina Tanemura has the prettiest art. Even if she draws sameface bugeyed stick insects, I love it. Pretty details and colors. Read her soap opera shoujoshit just for the artwork. Think I have her artbook downloaded somewhere actually.
>Stupid fucking weaboos will buy anything
implying weeaboos would buy this, it's clearly aimed at parents who have no fucking clue what manga is. It's a scam, just like those asylum rip offs your grandma will buy.
funny you mention this.
there's actually a german pro mangaka who works in japan.
(check out the beginning of the video too if you want to see a russian chick who works as a voice actor, voicing native japanese characters)
I can even understand why this is made, kids make their parents buy stupid shit all the time, there's a whole industry based on it.
But why, and I mean WHY, would someone do basically the same thing aimed at people over 18 like pic related. That's the true mistery to me.
Don't even mention how the fuck do they turn a profit on it.
So basically there's people out there publishing books, working hard and pursuing their dreams, while a raving pack of /a/utistic faggots sits around talking shit about them?
Never would have guessed.
That looks cute.
What's really stupid, but genius in its idea, are those Minecraft novels sold in stores. The genius part is that it's not some autistic preteen writing it but a middle aged man who can manipulate children to a T.
Clearly the author is asking a serius self question that it would put your existeness at trial. How to draw manga. Get it for 9.98€
It's autistic as fuck, like they are trying to teach to 11yo.
Anyone who's past middle school should be annoyed to read something like it.
Not to mention that if you're trying to learn calculus and the such, you should read an actual fucking book, like a non-autistic person would.
Well, if a middle schooler is actually trying to learn calculus, then hats off to him.
Oh shit nigger what are you doing
>using that crap
>not wanting to be the ultimate mangaka
I own a copy of this book, its pretty good and it comes with a manga of the squirrel and the girl in the cover learning how to draw manga, its fucking cute.
I always thought that we westerners couldn't draw decent manga (usually) mostly because of our oversimplistic alphabet not giving us enough visual motor skills almost since birth.
Is there more to it or am I completely wrong and 'nippon is the masterrace, filthy gaijis go home'?
I got a how to draw manga book from a store in the Japanese part of EPCOT. It was really technical and covered shit like placing screen-tones and whatnot. It seemed like it was translated from Japanese too. If I remember right, it was written by the guy who did "great teacher onizuka" and some other dude who did a fishing manga.
Illustrative guides are a valid and effective teaching method, mang. It's more engaging than a traditional textbook. Not for math majors, maybe, but for the rest of us who had mandated calc gen ed, sure.
>mfw i have that book
The worst part of these types of shitty how to draw books is that they don't even teach you anything other than maybe how to draw the specific exact thing as the guy who wrote it. It never has any general information about technique or anything which can by applied to original work, just like "step one, draw this circle. Step two, attach a square and two more circles. Step 3 holy shit now it has legs and arms and hair and clothes somehow. Step 4 add a face and now you have this one picture of naruto or some shit." The type of person who needs a drawing book like that can't just figure out how to get from the 3 circles stage to a full drawing without just tracing it.
>Want to learn to draw from scratch
>Ask /ic/ for recommendations on drawing for beginners
>LOOMIS LOOMIS LOOMIS LOOMIS
>After trying it for weeks realize it doesn't work for me
>LOOMIS LOOMIS LOOMIS LOOMIS
>Persevere with the same shitty books for months
>Can only draw big headed prehistoric cartoons.
This one was fun, I used a lot when I was in middle school
My parents bought me one of these books back in the day. I think I still have it.
Should I post it? If I recall correctly it is absolutely disgusting.
Hopefully, I either donated that or it's buried in my basement never to see the light of day again.
> It also gave my middle school-self boners in a couple of the sections.
Are you me?
>Manga Guide To CALCULUS
If you /a/nons didn't take Calculus back in high school, the time is now!!!
Learning hard math (it's not that it's "hard", that's just what it's called) while being calmed by the moe aesthetics makes learning calculus painless!
Read this shit (before you take one in community college) and it may even open the world to you to STEM careers or become a bankster.
>Manga Guide to everything
I hope they do re-release to keep it fresh.
The art is starting to look dated (it reeks 2000s Azumanga Daioh) and not moe enough for this and upcoming decade.
Well, here's the book I had.
It's not nearly as bad as I remembered.
Okay, this one shouldn't be flipped to this side.
I never used it, just because of how silly it looked.
Check out these sick goggles though.
I actually draw little anime characters in my notes when I make special notes such as things not mentioned specifically in lecture that are important. Or when I feel something is important to know, I'll put it in a cute girl's chat bubble.
While I'm not artist, it adds some cuteness and enjoyment to my notes and I've had many bitches lust after them.
The author for sure over accessorizes.
