Why is so much charm lost when anime goes from hand drawn to completely digital?
Some day in the future anime won't be analogue or digital, just imaged straight into our brains by radio towers throughout neo-tokyo
Holy shit, what's with those mutant fingers?
Pro-tip: When making the best out of a low frame rate where it's 8 frames per second rather than 24 or 12, you should make sure you're not repeating three frames of a hand having seven fingers.
"Hand-drawn" is a bad term and people need to stop using it.
"Hand-painted" or "cel" animation is a better term.
Modern anime is digitally painted and mastered over sketches done on paper.
I bet you actually think the average 80s series looked like the examples you posted.
It's not just about the shift to digital, but also animators back then were better. Young animators these days only know how to do flashy action that stands out.
What's your definition of soul? Grain? Shading? Made before 2000?
Let's play it back at regular speed. It's part of the stock footage, which is running much faster than 8 frames per second.
>>122072094 is correct.
No, you didn't.
>using cels that's prone to deterioration, mistakes, and inaccurate reproduction of the original animator, cleanup, and inbetweener's drawings
>has anything to do with quality
Too sterile, too perfect.
You are aware that they still animate, cleanup, and put in-betweens on paper and the only ones who use the Wacom are the colorists in the digital ink and paint department, right?
If digital animation is superior to cels, then why do animators not use detailed shading anymore?
>mastering theatrical anime at ~900p
Japan is literally worse than George Lucas. The standards have been in the fucking shitter for high budget anime since the transition.
>b-but my cheap shit looks better
I DON'T FUCKING CARE about your pedestrian 99% garbage outings looking better.
>then why do animators not use detailed shading anymore?
>goes from hand drawn to completely digital
>hand drawn to completely digital
>drawing each frame by a pair of human hands doesn't give a feeling that each frame was drawn by a pair of human hands
You are aware that even during the cel era of animation, people were already depending on machines like the photocopier to put drawings into cels, right? The only thing that changed is what is scanned and where it's scanned.
If you're into pretty stills then sure. Also, old anime had very little variety in designs. We'd never have shows like kaiba, mononoke, tatami, saraiya goyou, gankutsuou, tekkon kinkreet, tatami, kuuchuu buranko or kyousou giga back than.
So stop this onegaishi fuckin masu.
I'm amazed at how shit his drawings are below and reminded of how shit and full of rotoscoping bullshit his Doctor Who anime has.
Just... take a look at it.
He has a point, though. Why is anime so pale and lifeless nowadays?
Also, its quality is atrocious, more so than past anime.
I think I preferred Anime when it has both drawn art and digital art; Like Shadow Skill.
