How come she's mindbroken as a child but seems so normal and well-adjusted 10 years later?
>Sakura Matou [Person's name]
>One of the main heroines of Fate/stay night.
>With her long, lustrous hair, soothing smile, and (secretly) dynamite body, by all rights she should be the star heroine. Too bad she's an unfortunate girl who just sort of fades into the scenery.
>The heroine who symbolizes a peaceful daily life… or so it would seem at first. Perhaps due to some mistake, she actually suffers the most out of anyone in every route.
>Of course, that's only natural, seeing as how her initial concept was an "Asagami Fujino type". She never had a chance at avoiding bloodshed.
>As Shirou's junior by one year, the path to their first meeting was relatively convoluted. Four years ago, sometime around April, Sakura saw Shirou persistently attempting the high jump. Then, later that same year they actually met for the first time when Shirou came over to the Matou residence. From that point on she worked hard to greet Shirou every time he came over, until finally a year and a half ago she started going over to the Emiya residence herself to help him out.
>Afterward, she gradually grew accustomed to the Emiya residence, and due to Fuji-nee's influence became a more cheerful, energetic Matou Sakura.
>She has a quiet personality, and all things considered is exceptionally patient and persevering.
>Basically, she is a worrisome girl that never resents others (not even Shinji or Zouken), and always blames herself for everything.
>The solitary exception to this rule is Rin, because the two of them are so similar. I guess she's only capable of being honest with herself, or someone almost exactly like herself, yeah.
Couldn't fit all of it in, but it's mainly this part anyway.
>Afterward, she gradually grew accustomed to the Emiya residence, and due to Fuji-nee's influence became a more cheerful, energetic Matou Sakura.
It's all the Tiger raising her up
I'm sorry that was terrible I have no idea how these things work. Anyways, Why Sakura can smile again after 10 years of worm baths and being used as Shinji's onahole is because of the broken chunni and the stupid tiger's kindness, Which she repays by letting the stupid tiger almost melt to death and the chunni faggot nearly suicide himself every night when she could of stopped it. Worse girl.
Vote averaged, at this moment, prior to any proxyspam /a/ believes UBW will sell 47.25k or more copies.
This is the minimum of the estimate, using 5k for 5-10k, 100k for <100k, 0 for <5k, 20k for 20-25k. Using the middle of the range would increase it slightly, perhaps ~2k.
The voting can now continue, and while proxyspam will invaldiate later results, this one is etched in stone.
Reminder not to be deceived by sunk cost VNfag primaries.
They made the decision long ago to gorge themselves on an inferior medium, knowing full well that a superior, high budget, high quality better medium version was in the works.
They traded quality for early access to content. And misery loves company, they will stop at nothing to trick newfriends into making the same mistake they did.
You should do the following, at the bare minimum
1. Watch Fate/Zero
2. Watch UBW (UFOTABLE)
3. Decide to wait out for the end of UBW, or if you really must and cannot contain your autism to win nerdbattles on /a/, you can play the VN
4. Ditto for the last, worst, wormroutes like HF.
There is zero reason to choose an objectively inferior, decade old eroge VN over a far superior, better artstyle, animated, version of it.
Additionally the other fate releases spoil Fate/Zero -- the best standalone release of the entire fate series. It is idioitic to complain about how it ruins a subpar route like HF, when reading HF/FSN spoils Fate/Zero.
Fate/Zero is one of the greatest selling anime of all time for good reason. And /a/ will never stop being butthurt over it.
People really overestimate how bad "spoilers" are. It's not like "It's his sled" level spoiler, it's just "ugh, ok that's what they decided to do"
You're supposed to enjoy the journey, not the destination, in Fate. And the (ufotable) anime is a luxurious limo ride on the main road. The VN is a model T that can travel on the side roads as well.
Take the nice trip and then circle back onto the dirt path if you really want to.
>seems so normal and well-adjusted 10 years later?
She's only normal when she's with Shirou. With other people she's as empty and dead as she is in F/Z. You'd know this if you weren't a filthy secondary.
Read it when you have time and stop when you don't. Reading a VN should be easier to fit into your schedule than anime because you aren't restricted to episode time constraints.
You just read like 20-30 minutes a night if you don't have that much time. If you have time to watch anime you have time to read a VN. You can save at any point except during the prologue so you can just read it a little bit at a time if you want. For the prologue though you will have to budget a couple hours depending on how slow a reader you are, cause if you stop in the middle you'll have to start it over again, and it's pretty long.
Also, you already pretty much ruined most of the major twists of the VN by watching F/Z first so you're probably going to enjoy it a lot less.
Both have the same last name, both first names start with S, sheds are a lot like basements, she has purple hair and he has red hair, fuck this was so obvious that anyone should have figured it out.
She isn't well adjusted. It's all a fugazi. You know what a fugazi is?
It's sad you equate reading with maturity, instead of an ordinary activity done by literally every person with a pulse in the civilized world.
But you're a faggot from reddit who unironically uses *actions* so that's to be expected I guess.
>*pats you on the head in the same manner a man pats an animal or a retarded child*
Wow, you sure got him
You're the faggot sticking out like a sore thumb while the rest of 4chan uses the verb play
You have some serious insecurities and a need to feel more mature and intelligent than you actually are.
At least /jp/ wallows in its filth. /a/ pretends its shit does not stink
No wonder moot liked /jp/ so much more
I don't give a shit what the rest of 4chan uses, read makes more sense.
>You have some serious insecurities and a need to feel more mature and intelligent than you actually are.
Holy hell that projection. Reading is something a fucking toddler can do, if you find that impressive your IQ must be below room temperature.
>You're the faggot sticking out like a sore thumb while the rest of 4chan uses the verb play
I crossboard on every board except the gay ones, /b/ and /3/, and I don't see this anywhere.
>using the verb "read" for a visual novel means you're trying to seem intelligent
My sides. You seriously believe that? Do you have dyslexia or something? Why do you act like reading is some kind of intellectual thing? Do you think being able to dress yourself is also pretentious? What about being able to cross the street unaided?
I always found this hilarious, like it's one thing if she experienced child hood trauma and had to overcome it, but she's still having her grandpa and brother shove worms up her ass before she heads out every day, like shes just going to start to pretend she's okay just cause everyone else is normal
Ah fugazy, fugazi! It’s a wazi it’s a woozy, it’s [TWEEDEEDEEDEE] fairy dust! It doesn't exist, it's never landed, it is no matter, it's not on the elemental chart, it's not fuckin' real!
Being a static character over the course of 10 years after being forced to have interactions with very influential people for 2 or 3 of them is definitely better writing or realistic. Even still
>wanting realism in anime
>like shes just going to start to pretend she's okay just cause everyone else is normal
Well, that's what everyone else does
>like shes just going to start to pretend she's okay just cause everyone else is normal
Its noted she never smiles unless she's around Shirou.
When she's over at his house, that's basically the one normalcy in her life, where she can be human again, rather than an experiment. It's like the one freedom she's allowed. She'll smile while she's around him, it's the only place she can feel at home.
Even if the rest of her day is rape, at least she has a single light called hope still there.
When she first went to the Emiya house she didn't have anyone and it took her almost two hours to even speak to Shirou but, eventually made that the place where she was most comfortable. She's not doing it because everyone else is normal, she does it because she is afraid that they would abandon her if they knew.
Nothing but severe trauma, hate for those more fortunate, and jealousy. I'm pretty sure she's normal while she's out grocery shopping though, since all she she mostly cooks with is Shirou. Pretty sure she only cooks for the Matous after HF but I might be wrong.
>. Pretty sure she only cooks for the Matous after HF but I might be wrong.
Shirou made a promise in HF that she would do the cooking for the next year if they made it through this fine.
He lived up to this promise, although he's trying to get her to allow him to do at least parts of it still.
People are only fucked up from things when they're aware it's fucked up. People who get "molested" as a child but don't think of it as a bad thing grow up to be perfectly fine individuals. As much as I hate blaming society for things, people being fucked up only come from the perception that their treatment is somehow different. Of course this isn't 100% true, having everyone around you betray and abuse you will lead to issues as well, but I'm to believe she wasn't treated in such a way, just raped and abused.
I wonder why? Couldn't be something to do with abuse or anything.
>Pretty sure she only cooks for the Matous after HF
I don't think they'd be able to eat in their state.
>Pretty sure she only cooks for the Matous after HF
Anon, I have bad news...
Yeah, but only because the problems they're facing are tolerable. It does seem a little unnatural whenever you've gone through as much as Sakura has, who in reality would probably be completely nonfunctional.
That's why I said after.
Like, I'm not meaning to say anyone who's been traumatized is incapable of living a normal life, but the shit Sakura goes through is so ridiculously horrible that her being able to even maintain a facade of functioning normally in society for years (especially when she was younger) and hide how totally broken she is from Shirou when she's practically living with him strains belief
Why do so many people complain about ufotable screwing up Kerry and Kirei's battle in F/Z? Seems like this was the best place to ask since in almost every F/Z threads there's that one faggot saying it's all wrong and they never say why.
I personally found the battle very dramatic and amazing.
Shirou even admits he's dumb for not realizing. Also, she didn't really hide much in the beginning. Sakura was not able to talk to Shirou at first, but regardless, she was forced to interact with him.
Kiritsugu delivers a monologue revealing his true reasons for adapting a "kill the few to protect the many" philosophy (hint, it has nothing to do with Shirley - he felt that way years before the zombie apocalypse ever happened). This was critical to developing Kerry's character, yet was literally removed from the anime.
I guess it was something easy to figure out.
Out of this whole thread of shit-posting, this is still one of the dumber things I've heard today. There is no answer that's more true, and if one route was the real one, then Nasu would have preferred destroying both other routes, if that was the case. There's a reason no one route can get a continuation over the others.
>Q: Are the three routes of Fate/stay night parallel worlds existing at the same time? I was curious since I was how it would look to Zelretch.
>A: They're parallel... sort of. But if Zelretch was observing, it'd become true, and my feelings on the matter is that I'd rather two routes disappear if one was true.
>If all of these became possible at the same time, the other routes would become meaningless.
HF is one of the endings to Stay Night, and HA is set to happen after the events of Stay Night.
That does seem like a change. Thanks for clearing that up.
So it has nothing to do with the actual battle choreography between Kerry and Kirei, just Kerry's beliefs. I was wondering if people were really shitting on the choreography.
>being able to even maintain a facade of functioning normally in society for years
She wasn't though. Not until, she met Shirou and Taiga.
I'm not going to tell you depression isn't a serious legitimate health problem, but I think the little girl who has been raped and abused on all levels daily for most of her life has had it a little worse than you
It is entirely canon, but it also didn't happen so much. It's like Kagetsu, shit happened, but it was a dream.
Underlying story was still written by Nasu. Stop fighting fire by shitting all over it and pouring gasoline on top, "Not canon" is the stupidest argument here.
I'm putting all my wishes towards this scene, it doesn't need talking
The thing is, you basically fuck up the entire story if you don't get that scene right.
Like, it could legitimately bring down the entire quality of the adaptation if they don't get the message across. It's ridiculously essential.
>He doesn't want to pick one route because they all have meaning?
Something like that, it would be the same as saying "Only this one is real, the other two aren't shit" in a sense. It's the same as elevating it above the others as the only real one, the canon one, the one above the others that is the canon sequel and real route. That's not how Nasu ever does shit even as far back as Kagetsu. If he makes a sequel for one, it's always some ambiguous mashed route of some sort that gives credit to all sides.
He's not one who really elevates part of the fans while pushes aside the others, if anything he's pretty fair towards all sides. Amazingly he's not a guy that's all "Only the first route is the real one" like some companies.
To him every route had equal meaning
Clearly though the Sacchin route is the most canon one for Tsukihime.
It sounds a bit misleading with that one line but, It's more like he saw the signs and he always notice when something was wrong, see her bruises, or understood what Sakura was feeling but, if he was right it would eat at him for not having done something to protect the girl that comes happily to see him everyday.
No it's fucking not just that you stupid idiot. It's Shirou fighting for his fucking ideal against Archer who made it come true and now resents it. It's about showing Guardian Emiya that he will never abandon it and needs to be shown or everything will go to shit. Archer believing in Shirou and his final moments will mean squat if it's not done properly. Fuckin fuck you. It's also necessary for his own UBW.
Not really. It's a very powerful scene and message, but also very simple. They just have to portray it right.
Contrast the Archer/Shirou fight which is the absolute heart of the route that explains and resolves the entire core internal conflict of the route (and serves as a basis for Heaven's Feel's own conflict). It's far to critical and complex, if they turn it into "FUCK YOUR IDEALS" "BUT MUH IDEALS" "OKAY" you might as well drop the whole thing right there
Its probably not that, but this is really common in abuse cases. The victim acts completely normal at school/around friends whatever, but in at home there is some serious shit going down.
Humans are far more resilient than you seem to be giving them credit for. In fact, the more awful the thing the more the human mind devotes resources to trying to overcome it.
Unless you're one of those tumblr landwhales who thinks that if a girl gets raped she should spend the rest of her life moody and crushed by the experience, in which case fuck off.
She is raped to sleep by monster worms everyday of her life since she was a kid.
I don't care what kind of willpower you have, no one is going to be able to even pretend to be functional after that.
She should even be able to go to school after that shit.
For that matter, why even is she going to school? Her sole purpose is to be used to give birth to a Matou heir, she has no use for an education.
>11 years later and some people still don't get the point of Fate
How many times do Nasu & Friends have to spell it out for everyone?
There is a pretty big difference to having a traumatic rape experience and getting over it, to being constantly raped for hours every day of your life, by thousands of dick shaped worms.
It's not actually daily I don't think, it's whenever Shinji's in a mood or Grampa gets up every couple of months she has normal days and shes been trained "not to show any signs of magic to outsiders"
It's kind of the opposite of that in some ways.
Fate is kind of like the contrast between ideals and realities. Selfishness, selflessness, finding the balance between oneself, saying that neither answer is really wrong, but each answer will speak to you differently. Showing each side without saying there's a clear answer, getting the user to think, to converse about the meaning and what they drew from each answer, that line between realism and the opposite of such a thing.
Fate is about there not just being one answer, really some of the best books out there are about there not just being one answer. Rather they just leave you with a few different takes, and allow you to draw your own conclusions. Each path had meaning; chances are people might choose one as correct and say the others are bullshit, but each path had part of the answer and was necessary.
It wasn't Shirou's story or Saber's story, it was a story about ideals and reality. It definitely wasn't "This is the correct path, everyone choose this one".
>She is raped to sleep by monster worms everyday of her life since she was a kid.
Which is why it just becomes normal for her. Whether you live in garbage or spend all day punching trees or other crazy stuff, that just becomes "normal." Its only when contrasted with what other people do that you end up with a disconnect.
There was a series of experiments back in the 50s or somesuch that were pretty fucked up, trying to figure out what introducing young children to the concept of sex, and sexuality at a very young age. The kids were fine up until the experiment ended, at which point it was the context created by society that caused them to get fucked up about it.
Imagine how unique F/SN would be if Urobuchi was handling the story.
Maybe that's why F/SN is still talked about even ten years later so much
Three paths, very different meanings and answers expressed in each, no answer is called right or wrong.
People will always bring their own interpretation to the table, and will continue to discuss it. If it was just "The girls", then you could say that about any slice of life or moe show over the last ten years that we all forgot the instant they stopped airing.
Maybe if you're stupid
Waifus are a dime a dozen for any show, the Fate ones aren't even really shit. Tsukihime has better ones for example, but it's fallen into obscurity because it's far less of a game in most ways.
yeah no, theres people who read the two side by side and the three cases I read about all agreed that the translation was basic and bare bones, maybe you mean Tsukihime but Fate was always a hackjob
apparently nasu's seafood fetish isn't a thing in japanese either
What was he thinking about?
I'm sorry, that's not what I meant. I don't intend to trivialize anything, I actually feel the same way you do here. "Tolerable" was the wrong word... okay, let me start from scratch. People have a great deal of ability to hide their feelings and present a normal face to the world. They can be going through extremely serious stuff and be dying on the inside, and still act as though everything's normal. Their problems are "tolerable" not in the sense that they don't cause much suffering, but in that they're able to more or less maintain normal functioning. Everyone has their limit where even this basic ability breaks down, though, and being worm raped every day since toddlerhood is well past the point where even maintaining a facade of normalcy seems unrealistic. That's what I meant.
No I'm >>122321140
I'm certainly not pretending to be some kind of expert on extreme child abuse, and I am not currently nor have I ever been locked in a magic dick-worm rape-dungeon, nor have I suffered relentless emotional and physical/sexual abuse by my guardian and sibling, nor have I suffered years of total aloneness and humiliation having to serve the same "family" and pretend to have a normal life out in town and at a school where I see my real sister who pretends she doesn't even know me, nor have I fallen in love with my senpai who is the only person in the world that treats me like a human being worth a shit but who I will never be able to get close to, nor basically sold into slavery which led to all of this by my own real father for political convenience
BUT I'm just saying, she seems to take it all a little too well.
It's not even that really, all of this is more a rant about Nasu's massive failure to establish Sakura as a good character due to reliance on every shitty background cliche in the book to make her sympathetic without actually focusing on developing her on the level of any other heroine. She could have been a deeply damaged abuse victim or an absurdly resolved unbreakable strong spirit and the character would have worked, but she somehow ended up as neither while retaining the worst aspects of both and I just stopped caring.
Whether or not her anus truly was defenseless.
He was the one that agreed to give Sakura reigns in the kitchen for a year, as a way of giving her hope of making it through this shit. He promised her that much before he planned to kill her that one time, and that they would also go see the Sakura blossom trees.
Guy made the promise, he can at least honor it.
He has other hobbies anyway. Cleaning, cleaning the Dojo, projecting swords, having sex with Sakura, setting the table, sometimes fixing broken shit.
>tfw Rin's granddaughter is talking to her
Well, that's what I/the page is saying
The message isn't "you should want to save everyone"
The message is literally what she says beforehand, "It's okay to be selfless or selfish", and the followup is just her own choice.
F/SN itself is about Shirou being forced to understand that message and then decide for himself, with different choices and results.
Why is she so perfect. I'm sad that I've never been able to date a femme fatale with an abusive childhood. I was close friends with someone like Sakura once but she wasn't interested in me.
It's pretty great, even if you're not a lolicon
But being a lolicon is a pretty big bonus
Why do they take so long? They easily pump out subs weekly for shows, but they can't do a short ass game.
>"Illya, wait here"
>Berserker runs into the frame
>Shirou projects the axe-sword and cuts him in half with no effort or buildup
DEEN FINDS A WAY
Yes I know he agreed, but I don't see how that makes it any better. I enjoy Shirou's housewife antics the problem with Sakura is that she also decided to copy him and become a housewife type and it clashes with what he has done all his life.
Reminder that despite this, Jack is still one of the main faces of the TM community.
I might really have to open up a blog soon to vent if my heart doesn't heal soon. I haven't seen her since 2011 (she distanced herself from me so that I could move on - I initially confessed in 2006 and talked to her about my feelings several more times after that, but she always turned me down) but I still think about her every day. I normally avoid Sakura threads since she's a reminder of her, but what the hell. I'll think about her no matter what I do...
Since the Holy Grail War takes place in multiple universes, do all of the wars stem from the first ritual by the three families? I guess what I'm asking is there a chance that in other worlds the Holy Grail war started in medieval ages or something. Is it also possible that there are Holy Grail Wars where Kiritsugu and Shirou never participated in?
This is what it means to be a selfless hero that sacrifices themselves for others, except in this case Shirou got a rude awakening of how lonely, powerless, and breaking it is to be on the other side of that exchange for once.
A hero that dies for others, he'll leave behind a lot of broken hearts in that wake. The hero needs to save himself as well so that everyone can live happily. You shouldn't think "If one needs to be sacrifices, it should be me!".
>do all of the wars stem from the first ritual by the three families?
No, not even all wars are in alternate universes, or are alternate universe pieces of the same ritual. There are seven hundred Holy Grail citing to date, some of them are wars, and the others are through different means. Holy Grail is the designation of anything that can grant a wish. You'd be kind of stupid if you thought "But is it possible that this even happened, but slightly different" in a system of infinite world-lines where all shit can basically happen. The more you read into Fate, the more you find out that the one in F/SN wasn't super special or anything. Even in interview it's called something of a small time or unknown ritual, even if it could have had big results.
F/SN - Three families make a fake war so they can reach the root, a grail war ensues.
Fate/Apoc - Einzebern's don't summon the devil during the third war, Nazi's steal the grail, it ends up in Romania, someone uses the grail to recreate the same ritual basically in Europe but with more servants.
Fate/Extra - A god-computer that has been observing humanity since before they existed perhaps, sometimes it invites a lot of humans up into its reality marble. They do battle to the death, only the winner survives, the winner is studied to so the computer can figure out "What made this human so different than the others? What allowed him to win". If you win then you're permitted to access the Mooncell's core, and rewrite the face of the Earth.
Fate/Grand/Order - Seven Grail wars across time that cover the entire world, the fate of the world in the balance.
It's entirely explained in the VN, especially in the last route.
I use interviews so someone can't just go "No, that's bullshit". People tend to give the creator's dialogue a bit more weight at times. Even if they don't, the answer is still right there, in concise enough wording. Like it or not that is the answer, at times.
Just seems like it clears it up faster
Fate/Strange - Some guys who saw the Grail War in Japan were like "Nah, we can do that here, in America". Cut to them basically trying to do it on their own, in the most heretical war of all time.
>My friend already made me watch F/Z before reading the VN
Fate/Extra and Fate/Kaleid are your best options
>The board was filled with Type Moon and you couldn't stop it.
You're literally the same as right now, nothing has changed in that fact.
Except now you think its uncool. People still hated on the same the same back them, but now you're on the other side of the fence.
It's not that. Actually, I quite like Type-Moon's visual novels.
But they have already been discussed to death. Type-Moon threads always end up being stupid pointless arguments about the same topics, and they get old really quickly
Congratulations, just like every fiction.
We had new stuff like Apocrypha's ending, how Jeanne wants Dragon Dick, and Astolfo being a manslut. Also, CCC.
>But they have already been discussed to death.
So I suppose you think you know everything about Type Moon, since it's been discussed to death and without limit, there's literally no ground that can ever be covered anymore? Rather a bold statement to make considering there's been like eight new games or new shits in general that have come out in the last five years, yet it's already impossible to discuss them any further any more. CCC came out three years ago, Mahoyo a year before that, Fate anime this year, Grand Order in the approaching months,Fate for iPhone, the new movies, the previous movies, Carnival Phantasm, Kara no Kyoukai, Fate Strange, Apocrypha, etc. Yet to you they've already been run into the ground and we're done already.
Since everything is discussed to death and you know everything, tell me about this servant including his skills and abilities in detail.
Then tell me of the stats and abilities of Majin Saber, as those details have been discussed to death already.
Just because the old dog chases its tail every day when it gets stupid, as it retreads the same ground again, doesn't mean shit has been discussed to death. All it means is "That one thing that gets brought up a lot is discussed to death already, stop talking about that one thing. Although instead of that, lets just stop everything because that one thing keeps getting retread every time".
/a/ is still rare to acknowledge the other works at times and it's mainly just a retread of the original novel, but don't think that means "Everything has been discussed to death, it's all the same shit". No it's constantly new shit coming in, but the old dog still chases its tail mainly because that's what it knows how to do.

What I said is entirely true
New shit coming out all the time, there's always more to talk about without fail, however /a/ will always defect to talking about the same sorts of things, don't confuse that for "There's nothing left to talk about with the visual novels or new stories, it's all the same shit in these threads".
You have more luck if the thread starts off as as something other than a Fate/Stay thread of any sort at least, like when the new novels for Apoc were coming out. You get less people per thread, but they're always talking about the new stuff and actively participating in something other than "The same shit done to death" as you say. Any time something new is actively coming out, those can be some of the best TM threads. Although it might lose a rank or two if that "Something new coming out" is a redo of some sort of the original novel, since people tend to bring all their old baggage in there.
There's a lot we haven't and aren't yet exploring with Type Moon threads, but it's hard to ween /a/ off certain things. Don't confuse that for your own sort of thing with "There's not really any ground left". Man, we haven't even really talked about Apoc servants and how they've matched up enough, or even some of the other servants from other stories in general. Sure it's been touched on, but not really in enough detail.
The thread always gets distracted with F/SN with time. Fate/Stay has been talked about a lot, but don't think there aren't other stories and novels in the franchise that have barely had much room for serious discussion without being shot down in some way.
How powerful is he? I mean specifically.
On the one hand, you won't find a better defender. With all buffs going, willingly anyway, he can match the best of Servants and if you force him to go all out he's bonkers.
