Are there any anime or manga which feature interracial relationships or couples?
I don't mean Japanese protagonist falls for beautiful blond(e) aryan god(dess) because that fantasy is too common. I mean one where the Japanese/white character becomes involved with a person of a darker persuasion.
If that's too difficult to find, then to respect Japanese racial dynamics I will accept examples of Japanese protagonists getting involved with Koreans, Chinese, Ryukyuans or Ainu.
The only example I can think of is Berserk. Though it's a fantasy story, Casca is Kushan which would make her the equivalent of an Indian or Middle Easterner.
In Samurai Champloo, Mugen was Ryukyuan which shocked and disgusted much of the cast. He never got an official love interest but that ninja chick was obviously in love with him.
Were you under the impression they were not crazy?
Well, it's yuri porn, but The Sea, You, and the Sun by Mira of the group Peachpulsar has a relationship between a Japanese girl and a South Pacific islander (as opposed to Okinawan, which seems to be code for "they may be tan, but it's okay, they're still Japanese!") that culminates in a
>acrobat, self motivated
>strong moral fiber, is only a bitch in non canon filler made behind director's back
Is it possible that Nadia is the best girl ever?
Those are some powerful amber colored glasses you have. Her 'moral fiber' is unthinking and reflexive, as opposed to reasoned, and she was a bitch for the first dozen episodes. Part of the reason the Island arc is reviled is that it ignored the character development that toned down her bitchiness, but it definitely existed previously. She calls Nemo a murderer for defending her from being shot, expects mind reading of Jean, is vegetarian without cause or justification, and generally acts like a jealous, arrogant, thoughtless bitch.
She, the audience, and nearly every other character she knew thought she was African for 3/4 of the show, she was born there, and Atlanteans look African because the latter were in their image more closely somehow.
Does this count as interspecies?
Infinite Stratos includes a Chinese girl in the harem; although nearly no one expects her to win, that may count due to the animosity between them. There are probably some other harem anime or manga that have non Japanese or Europeans or alien/robot/whatever members, but I wouldn't count them unless they actually win or have a reasonable expectation of winning.
Australia is its own continent, you dumbfuck. I'm not the guy you replied to, I'm just amazed you lack this basic geographical knowledge.
Also what the fuck is a Caucasian Indian?
I just looked it up and apparently there is no popular model that has Australia as part of the Asian continent.
And I was just about to defend the guy.
If your american black parents go to japan, give birth to you in Japan and give you a japanese name, you're still kinda american and black and if your girlfriend was a japanese girl it would be interracial.
I'm trying to make out Continent doesn't equal race. Australia was a really shitty example, but look at Russia. Russia is part of Asia and Europe, but that doesn't mean that everyone in Russia is an Asian, nor does it mean everyone in Russia is a European.
Just because India is in Asia, doesn't make it an Asian country. There are Asiatic people in India, just as there are people who are a lot closer to Arabs and Whites than they are to the Chinese or Thais. Indians don't all have the same race and ancestry, it's a called a sub-continent for a reason, because it's neither distinguishably Asian.
Yeah. Continents are definitely a fuzzy category, but at this point the divisions are fairly settled. The primary bones of contention at this point are whether to combine Europe and Asia, or consider cultural differences and separate them, and whether to lump in all the islands of Oceania with Australia.
>actually wanting interracial couples in fiction
>>Just because India is in Asia, doesn't make it an Asian country.
...Yes, yes it does. Just like Madagascar is still African despite being populated by people who are mostly Indonesian in origin. Asian is not an ethnicity. Hell, East Asian, which may be what you're going for, still doesn't qualify by most reckonings. Chinese are not Japanese are not Korean, even if they can't always tell the difference themselves, because ethnicity is ultimately more a cultural than genetic construct.
No it's not, because Indians have self selected their diversity for thousands of years instead of getting invaded and colonized 500 years ago. Melanin maps are pretty clear.
India has been invaded and colonized more than any other country. It's kind of why the place is a mess religiously.
This man is from one of India's northern border states (Rajasthan). Does he look like your cookie-cutter definition of a North Indian to you?
And one of the earlier series of waves of invasion is why Northern India is lighter skinned and there's a gigantic language family called Indo-European.
However, there is a significant difference between invaded and colonized, the most significant being that invasion does not usually wipe out 9/10 of the locals like the colonization of Brazil did.
Then why even bother responding? Is feeling superior to an internet stranger despite being too cowardly to back up your words really that important to you? You have a strange way of showing you don't care.
Should I be seeing a specialist about all the chocolate in my diet?
>tfw you will never meet a cute brown girl who falls in love with you for no reason.
>Just because India is in Asia, doesn't make it an Asian country
This is just retarded. Asian country = country in Asia. Asian is not a valid ethnic grouping, even though people may casually use it as such. You're thinking of East Asian or South Asian, of which the latter is the actual term applied to Indian people.
>your childhood friend will never turn into a brown Sena
That's exactly my point. Trying to differentiate between North and South Indians is like trying to differentiate between mestizos in ex-Hispanic colonies (I said Brazil, but fuck it it applies to pretty much all of Latin America). This was why the Spanish caste system failed.
>Are there any anime or manga which feature interracial relationships or couples?
Mikasa and Eren might not be a couple
yetbut it's written on the stars that they will end up together.
Mikasa is half Japanese/half German
Eren is half Turkish/half German
Yeah, the only solid exception I've found is the Mira work, where the Islander is lazy at home, serious at work, and kind of a jerk- truly an individual rather than a stereotype.
If you ever actually go to India (protip don't, it's a shitty place), I want you to see if you can differentiate the North and South Indians on the street of a major city like Bombay or Delhi.
I doubt you'll understand what I mean, but I figure I'd explain where I was coming from. Melanin maps are completely worthless to me unfortunately.
K-On! had canon interracial breeding.
Good call. Though Mikasa still has the half blooded trope going on, she's recognizably Japanese instead of a full on Caucasian with an excuse for being fluent in Moonrunes like usual uses of the trope.
If I wanted to get a sense of the racial breakdown of a place I'd go to a podunk village, not a massive city with everyone from everywhere. Which do you think represents New York better, New York City, or a random resort town in the Catskills? Or the south, would you go to New Orleans or a fishing village? Or Minnesota, Minneapolis with all the Hmong or a frozen town with one stoplight and half the signs still bilingual with German?
