Why has Madokami been so slow recently? Did something happen when it was down a few days ago?
Is it because too many people are using it now? or do I just have shit internet.
Still, assuming 4chan and Reddit are the only 2 sites really using Madokami, does it make sense for it to be this slow?
I'm sure most of Reddit don't even know how to get on the damn thing.
It looks like it's a problem with the site if anything, it can't even handle having 4chan, and a very few amount of people on Reddit, use it without it becoming slow as fuck.
They're not the only ones, quick google search shows facebook and other hell holes know of it too. Fortunately I assume majority of idiots from those communities don't even know what IRC is, though it doesn't stop others from sharing their accounts with them.
It wasn't secret enough.
Well, we can start by having something else besides a single IRC command that even a retarded ape can type, also not having the fucking instructions on a fucking text file on the fucking root directory would help
It's too hard to make another alternative now, and transfer everything on there from madokami, isn't it?
Making the registration process really annoying and hard, so no one wants to even bother with it could help.
I'm really not sure.
Just like sad panda and the new secret requirements to get access? Fuck it, it too bothersome to get access by "luck". We need a account registration too bothersome for the normies with cookie modification, irc, userscripts and a bunch of shits like that.
>We need a account registration too bothersome for the normies with cookie modification, irc, userscripts and a bunch of shits like that.
Which part of that is bothersome?
The only system I could see working is an invitation system and mods scanning for people who share their invites on Reddit and banning the fuck out of them.
>It's known that the normies don't want to bother too much.
Oh, is it now?
The current registeration method requires IRC and surprise surprise, it doesn't work. Using IRC isn't hard. Installing an userscript is not hard. Modifying cookies is not hard.
For any secret registration method you can come up with, someone will write a detailed instruction on Reddit. And maybe even a browser plugin that will do most of the shit for you.
Whycome Madokami is slow? How did people find out about Madokami. Madokami was supposed to be our secret, right? You had to go to Madokami's Madokami IRC channel and register for Madokami before you can Madokami Madokami. Madokami.
>even more of a pain
A minute of work max. It's not difficult and it doesn't in any way keep people out. This whole fucking idea is beyond retarded if it is meant to keep Reddit out.
I suppose it's purely to get on IRC and browse an online catalog. The channel may have XDCC bots but that's pointless when FTP is faster and less tedious.
Did you make the site? Only the creator knows what he had in mind for it. I'm sure if he wanted it to stay small he wouldn't have made it trivial for anyone with half a brain to access its content.
Unless the admin feels the same way this entire thread is just a waste.
I run a vaguely similar site and I'd feel appreciative if my content became popular enough to warrant another or more powerful server. Hell, my hosting is already paid by donations from /a/ since I'm NEET.
Don't even some copypasta. I just tried anonymous FTP and sure enough I had access to everything on the site that required login.
I suppose the web interface is just for lazy people and to deter newfags and normals.
>muh secret club
Literally just a secret club for circlejerk about having access to while others don't.
And if he wanted to grow there is no need to even require half of a brain. He could've just spammed his website on any bigger site and it would've gotten several times more users than now. But that's not happened, the same goes for any indepth mention here from the admins or users really.
If it ends up being taken down for copyright infringement in a few weeks we'll know who is to blame and what a great idea that was
It's a sinking ship anyway. What happened to those promised archive torrents from Blue, Saki, etc.? Nowhere. Now all of our manga is once again on a shoddy server that could go down at any minute.
