If Miyazaki hates otaku so much then why does he love Anno so much?
He's not an otaku though.
Even in that show Anno is portrayed as being really big on mecha anime right? (I'm only assuming). And you pretty much have to be in order to create Eva. That doesn't equate him to being an otaku. If I really like Mexican food that doesn't make me a culinary expert.
>If Miyazaki hates otaku so much then why does he love Anno so much?
No one hates otaku more than Anno. He was able to turn his hatred of otaku into a groundbreaking anime that's been sucking up dollars for 20 years. Anno separated the wheat from the chaff, bunched up all the otakus into a clearly identified, easily marginalized, pandered to, and marketed to demographic.
>hm, these otaku are constantly drawn to nude female characters in my series, how disgusting
>I know, I'll make female characters who are deeply emotionally fragile and damaged, forcing otaku to confront their own skewed, immature understanding of sexuality
>oh, and I'll constantly pose them in suggestive ways and sell as many plastic figures and decals as I can
Imagine giving one of those to a fat person, expecting them to suddenly realize how terribly they treat themselves and vow to never eat poorly again, simply because you gave them something so cynically targeted to their weakness.
They wouldn't. They'd thank you, eat it, and tell you how great the cheese went with the sugar.
