Now that the dust has settled, is it the greatest anime ever produced?
Does anyone else here feel that FateZero is the greatest anime ever made?
- Amazing script by Urobuchi (some of the best dialogue in anime). "Dreams disappear when the dreamer wakes. Every last one of them, with no exception.”
- GOD-tier choreography by Ufotable (see webm related).
- Everything of its production oozes polish, from the consistently atmospheric artwork, fluid animation, methodical pacing.
- Intricate plot and characterization following several masters and servants juggling all of their character journies at once.
- Best execution of greek tragedy in anime.
- The 2 Kiritsugu episodes are some of the best storytelling in any TV series, anime or not.
- Absolutely breathtaking OST by Kajiura (and I don't just use that as a buzzword, the music is legitimately breathtaking). Try listening to this without getting goosebumps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSP17bwlS0Y
The content is still better than S1's pointless grail battles and lack of focus
Caster conflict was utterly stupid, loli Rin episode speaks for itself, Kiritsugu is barely a character until S2.
I'm guessing you haven't read the VN, every character in F/SN is very well developed. Standouts being pic related of course
Absolute shit taste
Every adaptation of a Novel,VN or Manga is this way for obvious reasons anon.the source material is always more detailed and developed than the adaptation.
There's adaptations better than the source material tho
Not the greatest anime ever produced, but one of the best in the last couple of years for sure.
Season 1: 8/10
Season 2: 8.5/10
I disagree, I think Steins;Gate has an excellent adaptation, but the VN was even better.
It's pretty damn good, but not the best.
At least in my book.
I was talking overall. For me who's been following every season of the last eight years almost completely, this is one of the most stand-out and memorable (in a good way) shows I've ever seen, and even beyond that it's a great piece of fiction. Lacking in terms of character development (it's all over the place) and an engaging "real" main plot, but the intrigue is just gripping, the choreography a sight to behold, the directing in general. And in terms of characters they were almost all good in their own right (except for Kayneth and Ryuunosuke) and the finale was absolute madness. For me it was an amazing ride from start to finish and even after having it watched three times it remains one of my favorites.
That's one of the most breathtaking artworks I've ever seen. The Servants as the main pawns in the front, controlled by the mysterious Masters in the middle and everything's happening by the Grail's "will" in the background. Looking at this wallpaper while listening to the climactic tracks of the Fate/Zero OST is a whole different feeling.
I feel for Kiritsugu everytime I watch 2nd Season, it's absolute madness. He's one of those characters that I just want to give a big hug and tell them everything will be alright. Everytime he appeared or was mentioned in F/SN UBW 2014 I felt so sad and when I read the VN later I cried.
The main thing I hold against him is talking to Shirou about his beliefs and then not teaching him magic properly. He was asking to get his son killed, especially knowing people like Kotomine and the Einzbern family are still around.
Of course not, it has that faggot Lancelot however.
Too many drawn out scenes, manga panel pastes, stills and speedlines during fights, and shit use of music until the CA arc
This isn't a manga. It's an anime adaptation and should be treated as such, but the anime was mostly lazy as fuck.
Not exactly a good adaptation of the manga, but it's great as its own thing. I liked it, and it's a nice example of good directing that HxH 2011 didn't have. I preferred the tone, drama, and characterization over the original content too.
>This isn't a manga. It's an anime adaptation and should be treated as such, but the anime was mostly lazy as fuck.
I finished the series literally yesterday, and I agree on this. It's just that the Grail War and the "diplomacy" involved (read: kill all other Masters) prevented anyone from breaking through Kiritsugu's flawed mentality.
In the end, Seihai-kun made a beatdown of his principles so hard that he was a shell of his former self when it was over.
What the fuck is wrong with the girl's eyebrows? How can anyone watch this and take it seriously? That's one of the reasons I dislike perpetual ongoing fighting shounens, they always tend to have shitty designs like this, at least ONCE.
>few good episodes
>telling me to try harder
And the Meruem x Komugi one wasn't good, the first half was nothing and the second half was stills, manga panel pastes, bubbly shoujo shit, with one actual creative moment which was the part where Komugi stroked Meruem's face.
>the grail shows him how the only way there would be world peace was if the only humans remaining on earth would be him and his family
I feel really bad for Kiritsugu, he basically got told how stupid he was by what he thought would be his salvation.
The only example of this I can think of them is them playing ED 1 during the hotel lobby scene (though I can forgive that because that song is amazing)
She's a blind old lady which means she has likely never tweezed her eyebrows, and considering some people have incredibly thick eyebrows naturally, it's not far from reality. Also HxH isn't a fighting shounen
Her eyebrows are less obnoxious in the manga because her hair usually covers them a bit and when it doesn't they usually just have a lined look like pic related.
To be fair though, Seihai-kun seems to work with the concept of sins, just like how it was referred to as Angra Mainyu and "who bears the sins of the world". No matter how pure your intentions are, chances are Seihai-kun will twist that.
>few good episodes
Sure, except the animation is consistently good and there are tons of standouts even in the first few arcs (Hisoka vs Gon, Kurapika vs Uvo, the troupe's requiem).
> the first half was nothing
Except for the parts where it was something
Every TV series and they aren't very frequent.
>manga panel pastes
When Madhouse do this it works in favor of the anime.
You know how everything that humans do ultimately boils down to being for survival and sex? It's the same thing for /a/ except replace them with fanbase wars and masturbation.
The only battle shounen arc is Heaven's Arena, and even then it's nothing like traditional tournament arcs.
Do you have any specific examples? I can't even remember where this song was used.
it's just not the best thing in the series, kinda a shame when people see it and dismiss everything Nasu's done because "muh Zero".
People overreact though, which is no surprise.
Obviously Kerry knows this but from his perspective the grail is an omnipotent wish granting device. So it was just a matter of misunderstanding the extent of what the grail can do.
>meruem calls her unsightly, a common idiot
>falls for her shortly after
Even though it was corrupted, it was right. You can't resolve a problem without looking at the cause. The only way would be to rob humans of their free will, and well, they would just cease being humans.
I agree, can you believe some people find stuff like this arousing?
It's completely degenerate.
The only thing that comes close is Psycho-Pass. F/Z gets put over the edge because of based Rider though. I have been told Madoka is by the same director, but I haven't watched it because it looks like moeshit.
There's so many things wrong with this post.
