Oh, and Frozen won anime feature film of the year
It was so mediocre. I tried watching it to understand why normies were going gaga over it but just dropped it after 30 minutes and skipped through the seek bar to the ending in several jumps to get the gist of the remainder.
It has that one 'good' song but really I thought it no better or pleasant than any other Disney hit song from prior movies.
I guess the lyrics hit the right notes for the tumblrinnas who want to 'let it out' and strong independent womyn.
Japan doesn't believe in their own stuff anymore.
Wrong pic OP.
Maybe Dragon and Wenge. Smile in particular is one of the most boring characters that exist in animation. Oh, but that was the point, so clearly it's amazing and deep.
>expecting Japan not to go nuts for a story about a literal suffering Ice Princess who is suffering out of her fear of her powers doing harm animated by Disney.
Japan likes characters like Miyuki too so yeah. I just find it funny that Disney probably unintentionally designed an animated movie that appeals more to Japans moe sensibilities than any Japanese studio could ever hope to.
Japan is a country where middle aged men love their princesses as much as 6 year old girls do.
Only if you decide to overanalyze and read into the show to create depth that doesn't really exist. It's the same thing people do on /v/ to make the Souls series seem deeper than it really is.
I'm not the guy who you were replying to, but I agree on all of them.
The animation, though, it just broke all of the rules so I'm surprised it did well.
After an episode or two, I felt like what I wasn't "bad" art, drawing, or animation; I described it to a friend as "maybe this is an externalization of how ugly every character is on the inside"
I'm still not sure, because the jagged lines and jumpy/inconsistent animation never did anything to hurt the story later, and they got harder and harder to notice as time went by... but I still don't know what they were thinking.
You don't even need any analytical skills to realize that the show made a point of the role of the invincible robot being pushed onto him and that being able to reject it meant gowing up for him.
I bet /a/ would hate ping pong if it was actively discussed on reddit and tumblr.
However it wasn't the kind of material to be discussed on reddit.
If it was discussed there, reddit would be le eddit.
But if it was, /a/ would hate it. And because its mainstream, /a/ loves it.
I hate this mentality and this hivemind.
Pingpong is overrated as fuck.
Accept that you don't like it, but simply pretend to fool yourself just to go with the flow.
>Accept that you don't like it, but simply pretend to fool yourself just to go with the flow.
Oh boy, it won an award whose credibility is summed up completely by giving the same award to SnK last year.
>cliched shounenshit sports story
>uglier than the shit I drew in kindergarten
>mediocre voice acting and unmemorable soundtrack
>shallow, cliched characters with shonenshit-cliche development
If I wanted to make a predictable, unoriginal show for hipsters about terribly drawn chinks playing gay tennis for people too unathletic to run, I wouldn't because it would be SHIT.
If Yuasa animated his own defecations a substantial portion of /a/ would circlejerk over it.
Being entertained by and looking forward to watching an anime means you liked it. /a/ also liked Guilty Crown, Valvrave, and currently Cross Ange.
>Make a CG thread and see the hate you get.
Who the fuck would reply to a CG thread in the year 2015? You'd get hate for making a thread about any series already discussed to death.
Nice shitpost, friend.
Some of the songs are pretty good but it's really mediocre against even the mid tier pics of the golden age of Disney. It's incredibly safe in every way and doesn't really do anything that surprising.
Not a surprise that it's big shit in Japan as Japan absolutely loves Disney stuff.
Long-time daily lurker here. Based on my observations, /a/ has two favorite anime:
- The most discussed anime here, as well as the anime with the largest total number of viewers who liked it, is Evangelion. Has been since day one of /a/. There's been an Eva thread on /a/ at almost all times since day one.
- While not nearly as popular overall because of a much smaller total viewership count, the anime which appears to have the highest liked/seen ratio on /a/ is ARIA. You almost never saw anyone talking shit about ARIA here until the new anime content was recently announced, which seems to have made the show a popular trolling target suddenly.
Yeah, exactly. It reminds me of this, only replace Peyton Manning with Miyazaki and NFL MVP with anime award.
>every character looks like my granpa
Why is design optional in 1995+20?
>implying you need to draw people realistically
You fucking idiot, if you want realistic portrayal of people go look at photography or cinema. This is art, something you retarded teenagers just cannot comprehend. Thank G-d the Japanese people can still see the true quality of its artistic works.
>they even bother to release this silly award when this was already made official a long time ago
Ping Pong wins overrated anime of the year.
>implying /a/ cares about reddit
"ping pong is overrated" and "/a/ would hate it if its popular" says nothing but mere fallacies that scares and impresses underagefags and stupid people.
It won the TAAF which is meaningless. Madoka won the TAAF and the Media Art Awards. Ping Pong didn't even get Excellency Award in MAA, it got a recommendation alongside KLK and fucking Terror in Resonance.
Deservedly so, It's one of the best shows in the past 5 years and for the next 5 years people will still talk about how amazing it is.
I still feel it doesn't get the credit it deserves.
Maybe, but fuck off with Tamako Love Story. It was as cliche and underwhelming as it could get. Just that it gets mentioned by these supposed "experts" shows that they are nothing of the sort.
Tripfags are to be ignored, not have their opinions valued so highly that you sway the other way completely. If he told you shit tasted bad you'd start loving it wouldn't you.
>maybe, but you cant deny the fact that the author had an intended message when he first drew pingpong
Yeah, the intent is quite clear: seething disrespect for his readers. The cardinal sin of any performer or artist. If all was right with the world he'd never be published again for this most grievous of all artistic transgressions. I'd liken Ping Pong to Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music.
> "/a/ would hate it if its popular"
Oh but that's just the truth everywhere on 4chan anon.
People are more focused on talking about anime on /a/ and about who is and isn't watching the show instead of focusing on the actual show. You'll have people's entire enjoyment on a show hinge on if they can talk about it on /a/ or not and that's when you get "HOLY HELL! THIS SHOW IS FOR FUCKING YFAGS! THIS SHIT SUUUUUUUUCKS!" etc etc.
Funny thing it's that the song is generic as fuck, it follows a template sheet.
I don't remember the titles but there are a couple of popular songs that came out before that are almost the same as their staple song.
Ping Pong AOTY is a meme, they said.
It just wins the polls out of samefagging, they said.
Nobody really likes this ugly piece of shit, they said.
It's so ugly and unpopular /a/ pretends to like it, they said...
Considering the fact that there are only about 46 IPs in this thread and over 130 posts, I'd dare say that you're samefagging the entire thread and every anti-Ping Pong post that has something to do with "memes" or "hipster" is just you. Try harder, friend. Just because your Space Blandy bullshit was absolute garbage, doesn't mean you have to crap all over one of the few decent shows to come out last year.
Just for giggles, what was YOUR AOTY last year. Any troll responses like Glasslip or Mushishi will just give it away immediately, so try for something a little different.
>3 posts per person ratio is an absurdity!
Try harder, friend.
Are ping pong threads the worst threads on /a/? I can't think of one that has more haters and shitposters
since SnK died down.
>ignoring the rest
You sure are convincing everyone he just works every 4 years.
And even if you made this lie pass, you can't link it to the other lie of all his wins being scripted.
I live quite well with myself.
There's a four-year gap between TTG and Ping Pong, but this does not support the affirmation that he only puts out works once every four years. It would be stupid (although convenient to shitposting) to assume such a thing, as it only takes into consideration a tiny portion of his work and not it as a whole. From this history, there's much more evidence he would put out shows once every two years, so the four-year gap "pattern" is grossly mistaken (as any pattern in this case is).
Alternatively, I can ask you to "look at the time interval between Kaiba and TTG".
And I still don't know how can silly anon claim the awards were rigged from this assumption. I guess it's sheer denial, just like the samefag claims every time a similar AOTY conclusion pointing to Ping Pong appears.
People here don't like it because so many of us thought it deserved AOTY (which it did). It pissed off everyone who disliked it or didn't watch it so now they shitpost about it and call it "memepong"
Jesus christ this thread
>faggots got overly buttpained because some ironic hipster animeshun got AOTY instead of their favorite entry level moe garbage
Sasuga /a/, ping pong winning some shoddy ass award means pretty much nothing to you, yet you guys turned this thread into some gigantic pile of drama. I wonder what will happen if ping pong didn't win.
