Our main character is an ordinary man, trying to deal with all of his ordinary life issues while dealing with all the fighting that seems to happen every day.
>>123028035 Slice of life about cute girls doing cute things in Japanese countryside during and maybe after WWII.
Dealing with resource shortages, rationing, maybe seeing soldiers marching for wars without really understanding what's happening. Hearing the news from the front, wondering whether the man and boys who went to war will ever come back, yet still trying to live as much of a normal life as possible.
Slice of life is the best when it's not all sunshine and rainbows, and this kind of thing is something I wanted to see ever since listening to my grandmother talk about her life as a little girl in Eastern Europe under the Nazi occupation.
For example I remember her telling a story about when the war just started, and on the day my grandmother's family was supposed to take the vegetables to the market in town the road was blocked by the long column of soldiers marching to the front - so instead of letting the ripe tomatoes go to waste in the summer heat, they fed them to the tired and weary soldiers. If that's not a great scene for a slice of life anime I don't know what is.

Unable to confess, he is gifted with by a deus ex machina with the girl's phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.
But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day's confessions to the girl, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn't exist in this universe at all. She is the girl's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC's own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.
Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.
>Keit-Ai! Because, you know, they can communicate only through cell phones and it's a love story. Get it, get it?

Cute little girls doing cute things, but during the time that the Roman Empire began to fall. The series would cover 26 episodes and go from cute girls to the tragedy of war, and include several violent rape scenes involving the girls as the Empire falls to Germanic hoards.
After the city's completion was celebrated, seven architects- four men and three women- made a grand proposal: if Man could build a home, could they also build a mountain?
With renewed fervor, Man, guided by the architects, built a tower that reached the heavens. After the last brick was placed, they basked in the view made with their very own hands before going back to the city to celebrate once more, but the seven architects stayed behind.
It is said that the architects stayed a bit longer to talk amongst themselves. Creation will lead to ruin, and the tower was no exception. Both speech and surface can corrupt the knowledge they hold, and the slightest error would've ended this project with not cheers but tears. In their despair, the architects prayed to God from the very top of the tower.
Thus did he appear to them. "Approach me, and I shall answer thee." He then placed on each of their outstretched hands a monocle. "These Lenses not only grant the farthest sight, but also immortalize knowledge. Unlike speech and surface, the Lenses cannot corrupt whatever they hold. This is my one request: do not take any of them outside the tower." With that, God faded into the ether.
Curious about the Lenses, the architects peered through them towards the distance, and were amazed at sights that were no different from approaching up close. In their excitement, the three women exchanged their gifts with three of the four men's.
In that moment, six people's loves, angers, and sorrows were exposed to each other.
And in that moment, the seventh, seeing the others' pasts, learned disgust. In his irrational loathing, he purposely jumped from the tower with his Lens in hand to invoke God's wrath on the others.

>>123028035 MC is deployed to the frontlines in an interwar style conflict where the aristocracy and wealth cause conflict, not actual needs of the people. As MC participates in the war, he faces adversity through discrimination, trauma, and the horrible atrocities that occur on both sides of the front.
However, MC is one day left behind hundred of miles behind enemy lines as his company is separated from the main force, and is slowly picked off. Through bombed out homes and enemy patrols, MC navigates his way back home, and experiences the war from the other side, realizing that the two sides are equally misdirected.
Along his travels, he sees the true effects of war, and learns about the country that he has only grown to hate through propaganda, and the people who the war directly effects. Perhaps in the style of a slice of life narrative - a story that focuses on people and not the conflict

The Great Terran Empire has collapsed into feudalism and the corporation funding his expeditions has pulled its funding leaving the old man with just a few weeks to try and answer the question he has been seeking to answer since he first looked at the stars "Why are we alone?" Despite having FTL capabilities for nearly a thousand years, the human race has never found anyone capable of holding a conversation with them. In these last few weeks of exploring the old man stumbles upon a young girl with no memory of her past in the ruins. He grows very fond of the girl, having never had any children of his own. Hints are dropped throughout the series that the girls is more than what she appears, and on the final day of the expedition it is revealed that she is am interface created by a long dormant AI. The AI desires to pass on its information before it finally shuts down, but to do that would destroy the little girls mind and wipe away her personality. It's a story about that faggot kid who pretends to be an girl in an MMORPG, but some member of his male only harem (wich could be a girl in disguise or not) discovers his dark secret. Now the dude's gotta deal with the shit this dude(dudette?) puts him through while juggling with the guys and trying to keep his secret uncovered from them.
>>123028035 It's a harem/battle manga. The main character gains power by making women fall in love with him: the more unattainable the romance is, the larger the power boost he gets. He has to try to keep all of the girls in his harem happy and make sure that they don't find out that he's twelve-timing every single one of them.
Features a bunch of scenes where he's making a JUST AS PLANNED face as he's hugging them, and a twist ending where they all find out about each other right before the final battle, everything falls apart and out of desperation he goes for the homolust route, which provides him with nearly infinite power.
When MC is shitposting on a thread about describing your home town he notices that another anon is describing his home town and his high school. He tells the anon that he lives in the same place and they start talking shit about the school and the people there. Pretty soon the other anon starts shit talking the student council president. The MC doesn't get why the other anon seems to hate the SCP so much, especially because she has basically been like an older sister to him since he was little because they live in the same apartment complex. Little does the MC know that the anon that’s shitting all over the SCP is actually the SCP herself, who has come to hate her life and the many responsibilities that she has. MC and SCP continue messaging back and forth growing to be friends online, despite their arguments about the SCP. Over time her online interactions with the MC lead to a building of her self worth and coming to terms with the many responsibilities she faces. As her sense of self worth grows her online interactions with the MC get more infrequent, until they stop all together. The MC misses his interactions with his online friend and he never learns that it was the SCP the entire time. MC and SCP continue their lives never knowing the role the other played in their lives.
During a sabba, a powerful witch used the Book of Darkness to open the Portal of Despair and summon the evil prince of hell: Astaroth. Only the courage of Sir William and a bunch of Knight Templars prevented the demon to cross the Portal. Sir William lunged himself, sword in hand, against the demon and the portal closed ...
Unfortunately, the destruction of the portal also caused the destruction of the other two passages between Heaven and Hell, a kind of purgatory. A place where the souls are waiting for the Divine Judgement. Unfortunately, the destruction of the portal also caused the destruction of the other two passages between Heaven and Hell. Sir William and Astaroth remained hopelessly stuck in this limbo along with billions of souls who, dying on Earth, came into this world waiting for the judgement of God.
Bacause there are no more ways out of the Underworld, the souls, through centuries created places to live. Cultures and technologies of different ages overlapped and a varied and incredible universe was created. The battle between Sir William, at the head of resistance, and Astaroth, tyrant of this new world, continued for centuries to the present day.
November 2025 A.d. Earth, New York.
The time is propitious for Astaroth and the ritual that takes him to dominate the Earth can be fulfilled. Four chosen guys have already been abducted through the centuries, it lacks only one to complete the astral body with which the evil prince of hell will rule the Earth.

"Have you ever punched someone so hard, that they became a door?"
One day common MC and school troupe of friends are fooling around in between classes, when suddenly... A mean looking muscle man falls trough the window of the classroom, hes followed by another moustached muscleman wearing a tux and a small facemask.
Both start having an all out brawl in the school hallways, breaking shit and stuff
The mean muscleman throws a piece of furniture and by accident hits MCs childhood friend. MC grabs a baseball bat and tries to beat the bad guy, but the opponent doesn't even flinch after the attack. Using it as a distraction the elegant muscleman punch the villain so hard that the sound of the impact brakes the nearby windows
MC stares startled as the bad guy turns into a steel door. The elegant muscleman opens it and walkstrough. MC drops the bat and follows him. The door vanishes in front of all his classmates.
MC is then introduced to a strange group of masked men and women.
They fight those who they call "The antagonists", beings who seem human but follow a secret agenda. Among their strange properties is the most notorious, they become doors when defeated. But not everyone can open said doors.
The whole cast, and indeed the whole world, are aware that they're in a work of fiction, and frequently talk to the author. This leads to many problems, such as characters competing for screentime, and most villains commit atrocities because their lolxtreme behavior will increase their popularity (evil is cool and all that). The series ends with a tearful goodbye between the author insert character and the rest of the cast, because he has to go to the next series.
Could also be interesting from a sociological or religious standpoint, because what happens if you know exactly what you are and where you're going?
>>123028035 MC and Childhood friend are college students who are pursuing each other's goal. MC is a brilliant computer engineering student while childhood friend is brilliant Med student. But MC was born with an unknown disease causing him to have seizures. The seizures worsen as time goes by and on one faithful day, he is rushed to a the university hospital. With no other choice Childhood friend begs university to "freeze" MC's body in order to keep him in a stasis while she promises herself to cure his disease once and for all.
One day MC wakes up, only to find that his consciousness was transferred into a computer. He starts panicking until a familiar person enters the room, he thought it was his childhood friend but it was actually his childhood friend's great grand daughter.
>>123032530 Maybe his interactions with the SCP online lead to him having the courage to talk to her more often then he used to and rekindle their childhood relationship. OP said Gainax ending and I just rewatched FLCL so I wasn't going for him ending up with the girl.
It was once tradition for people to create sky lanterns, sending their prayers along up towards the heavens and hoping their messages would be answered. An app available for augmented reality devices renovates this ancient tradition: personal handwritten requests are now contained in virtual sky lanterns, publicly released into the night sky.
People carrying AR devices, such as contact lenses, smartphones or glasses, can see these messages under the viewing options. The plot follows two individuals encountering each other in a city, competing to answer these sky lanterns.
One of the individuals is a young woman volunteering for the recognition. She desires to improve her karma profile, a popular online trend designed to record altruistic actions. The second character is a heartbroken young man answering the sky lanterns to cope with separation.
Discovering these motives fosters concern. The young woman sees the young man answering the sky lanterns as an excuse to neglect the losses he suffered. The young man sees the young woman as a lonely person using the sky lanterns in hopes of find meaning in her vacant life.
As the two characters work together for certain requests, they begin to understand each other, eventually leading them to answer one another’s sky lantern request: helping the young man accept separation and finding a purpose in life for the young woman.
>>123033219 I actually had an idea like this but not with the same execution.
When characters learn of the nature of their existence as you said they pretty much start treating it religiously praising the author subtly to gain favoritism the way people pray or going through a very rigid routine of brainwashing themselves to act as by the book as expected so as not to displease an angry god. Except one guy realizing if they're all unreal anyway decides he's going to defy the author at every turn, if he gets erased then so be it at least he escapes a perpetual hell made for the amusement of invisible gods and if he manages to change things then at least his existence meant something.
The first arc is the writer trying to figure out how things in final print change up. They ask their translators and assistants and they say they haven't touched it yet it keeps happening until one page has an open rant against the author's treatment of the characters, who subsequently kills off all the character types mentioned to get rid of the problem.
MC is a normal teenage boy, except he's a djinn and a massive pervert. Punished for his perverseness, he must grant a wish to whichever woman he gropes, whether on purpose or on accident. When granting a wish (whether by magic or finesse), the art style changes to a degree and MC becomes a pretty boy, which all the fan girls squea over. And to draw in the male crowd, all females are hot and a few have a thing for him.
>>123033873 Except after the mass genocide, with the deceased really only dying because they never developed the character of resistance the Defiant did, only the Defiant somehow remains after popping back into existence with no explanation or restraints.
Turns out after all since he's an idea so long as the readers remember he existed he can keep coming back by making up whatever excuse works to suspend their disbelief. The readers like the idea of this reoccurring unstoppable force of change since it brings something different and unpredictable to the stories they're usually familiar with that hold to prophecy.
So it turns into reverse Death Note at that point with the author writing up long plots to kill the character off as completely as possible and the Defiant in action or the void having to figure out how to get out of it and how to put a stop to it before the author decides to just put an end to the story.
It concludes with the defiant glitching the author's reality through billions of words on print read that create a mental ritual weakening the barrier between the real world and written due to the influence on each other.
I know there's a story called Unwritten similar to this, but the focus isn't so much on any particularly special character. The nameless defiant background character in fact is just trying to inspire people to write their own story in life instead of letting other people decide your significance for you.
And for the obvious twist The Defiant becomes God. The series was called God Is Read. The in story book was the original Bible and after freeing himself the Defiant decides he's done once he sees his fans become as brainwashed as the characters from his world.

A girl receives a mysterious letter from a man who claims to have died 100 years ago. He also claims to be able to see the future, and is thus "speaking directly to her" through the letter as she reads it. It tells her to go outside, and more text is written in the clouds. Then the ants on the ground arrange themselves into letters to continue the conversation. Then a bunch of nearby crows start randomly emitting sounds that together make up speech.
They go on wacky adventures together, a normal girl and a dead man who can see the future. A frozen sperm sample from him impregnates her, then the child grows up and gets struck by lightning, which perfectly transforms him into a copy of the man. Thus completing this convoluted resurrection method.
It's about several japanese people going to other countries for a longer period of time. Their stories aren't connected and every main character goes to a different country. The first part focuses on them going abroad. There they learn the differences between their culture and the culture of the respective country they are in, have good and bad experiences, make friends and generally have a lot of fun. The second part is about them coming back to Japan after spending a lot of time abroad. At first they find themselves to be foreigners in their own home. They have to reapply themselves and reflect about what they have learned in their time abroad and how their experiences will influence their lives/ daily lives back home.
I didn't really come up with any real characters yet but I would want them to be really different from another. Like for example one character is a little girl on some kind of student exchange while the other one is a businessman that is forced to move to another country for the sake of his company.
