Let's have a LN thread, /a/. What are you reading that moment?
Hikaru ga Chikyuu and Allison/Lillia and Treize,
The former is a pretty good romance, translations are pretty slow though.
The other two are awfully fun considering how simple the writing is, good worldbuilding though.
Great. I'll check it out later. I've only been reading Baccano recently.
I must say, it's fun all around. Even though it keeps introducing more and more new characters every volume, it still manages to make most of them consistently entertaining.
Now I remember I had to pick this up.
Re-reading Denpateki na Kanojo and Kure-nai for the eleventh time.
Also Konjiki no Word master and other shit I got the raws.
Waiting for Onii-sama in May.
I know right?
Actually reading Tachibana's LN and it's shit compared with the doujinshi.
I agree, Baccano's pretty great. Pity S2 never since it didn't sell.
There are Kawakami threads every once in a while that tend to be pretty good, although I'd stay away until you're no longer at risk of getting everything spoilered.
Gakusen Toshi Asterisk.
I'm surprised at how chill Julis is. I was prepared to dislike her since she was a fiery redheaded fire-using princess, and since she and the MC were introduced via the usual "accidental walk-in and peep" vehicle. But after that first-volume burst of violence, she's mellowed down a lot and since been consistently bro-tier.
Certainly not that level of politics.
Romance is pretty low on the priority list as well, the setting is beyond generic and overused but the things that you expect to find there aren't really there.
One of the rare cases when a Japanese story dips its hands into more mythologies than just Greek, Norse and Shinto, as a faggot who loves this shit it's heaven.
Also one top tier harem, aside from Yuri who doesn't get better until vol10 or something.
>Literally the first line from the novel
>After finishing his daily run, Ikki Kurogane returned to his student dormitory room and found a beautiful half-naked girl inside.
Light novels truly are an amazing medium
Reading Overlord and Spirit Migration right now, and might read Slime Tensei Monogatari, or Yuusha Party no Kawaii ko ga ita no de, Kokuhaku Shite Mita after i catch up with Spirit Migration, hope they're good.
I was rereading the moment when LNs were saved. Pic is obviously related.
>Yuusha Party no Kawaii ko ga ita no de
I'd suggest holding off on that one until translations come alive again. I like it but it looks dead translation wise.
I was reading the Dragon Reincarnation one and the Magic Butler one. Saw Butler one is getting a LN but it's a completely different story apparently, basically turning the story into a magical Hayate for real with a school setting.
Knights & Magic
Altina the Sword Princess
Yahari Ore no Seishun
No Game No Life
Tate no Yuusha
Souen no Historia
Sword Art Online
Sendai Yuusha wa Inkyou Shitai
Though of what I'm reading, everything is either caught up with the most recent novel or has rare irregular updates/dead translations so the only one you could say I'm really "reading" is Overlord. Altina Translations next month, though. Also looking for recommendations. Is there anything out there that has a strong/intelligent MC who isn't overpowered, doesn't have everything nice dropped into his/her lap, and actually faces challenges?
>You will never have sex with your alternate world self
I wish the person who was translating the other Slime series hadn't died. His last post was 2 months ago saying he caught a cold.
Really looking forward for the next update by the author.
Mostly because he takes his time progressing the story so badly shit's been going down for the past like 10 chapters, and 1 of them was literally a rehash of the previous chapter from a different perspective.
I just want to see Lily's childhood friend get killed in front of the hero bitch. Or hero bitch can die too since she's too OP.
I saw the thread about it on AS. Basically kid got born with a sign of the demon lord which led to his entire village including his parents treating him like shit. Not feeding him, abusing him, etc. The only person that treated him well was his sister, but she was born with angel element or some shit so she got taken by the church and brainwashed to hate her brother and want to kill him along with the hero guy.
It seemed pretty boring because it just kept heaping suffering on the poor kid without ever giving him any kind of turn around.
Speaking of corean shit, i've been reading ark after catching up to LMS. There's someone here who said ark was better written but how can it be when the girls are so boring?
For anyone out there who follows chink/corean shit, which work has the best girls?
Anyone read elysion? Does it get any better? I tried the first chapter but it was really hard to read. I can stand the poor excuse of exposition and obvious mc wanking in ark/lms but it was that bad.
It only has better pacing so far. That said, I do agree that the first two volumes of EMS are better than the first two volumes of Oreimo.
Pretty sure volume 2 of Oreimo already had confessions.
Finished v1 recently. MC's ability is pretty interesting and makes for an immersing read. Reminds me of satonara piano sonata where it will never get an anime even if it were popular because of copyrights.
I've already read Sayonara Piano Sonata twice, but it's been a while so I'll probably read it again. I wish the translator would just fucking finish the encore pieces already.
Yeah but confessions happen for every character in this one which is really satisfying instead of beating around the bush for several volumes like most LNs.
>1 - mc
>2 - muramasa
>3 - elf
>Horizon, OnC and the City Series are on hold in favour of Index NT
I know js06 does what he want and I'm damn grateful he's translating Kawakami works, but man, I'm counting the days until the Index translation is done.
Also, mc's head is straight and doesn't waste time with other girls like kuroneko. It's frustrating when an mc acts indecisively, leading girls on, hurts those around him and himself. A man knows what he wants and pursues his goal unlike that pussy kyousuke.
I guess it's refreshing to see something like that. I'm not too much of a fan of it and I actually loved the way Oreimo handled it. Well, it was more like how it "dealt". The harem build up really shouldn't have happened.
Kyousuke is a special case. I mean, he wants to fuck his blood related sister. That's his goal. Also, the man didn't intend to lead the girls on.
I still take issue with the fact that he was 12 years old when he fell in love with his new 9 year old little sister. The ages just seem too young to me to be believable. Not to mention the fact that he stayed in love with her for the next three years despite pretty much zero contact.
What? Iirc, they only met 1 year prior to the start of the story when they both became siblings and she started her hikki life, not knowing they've been working with each other 2 years even prior to that.
Don't take romance in web novels, or lns in general, too seriously.
A 4 year-old could be told that they're cute with no further interaction, and show up 12 years later after having decided to randomly devote their life to the person who literally only told them that they were cute.
Finding a novel with a good balance somewhere in-between easy-win heroines and forced romance is hard.
