For Arale, it is probably because he wanted to make her more appealing and cuter. In the first chapter Arale isn't the intended main character so he probably didn't put as much thought into drawing her as later.
Why can't this guy just draw manga for a better storywriter instead of writing his own stuff? I mean, he has good ideas but he can't execute them for shit and his stories always get convoluted and retarded by the time half of the manga is written.
Look I'm glad the MC ended up with Ringo and the small female bromance between her and that tuner chick was pretty sweet but other then that I can't really say that I cared about the plot as a whole. I just wanted to see all the loose ends tied up by the time I was two thirds done with it.
I really wish he ended up with Simca though. A shame her chances fell to 0 when she went katawa shoujo.
You gotta give it to Oh Great that he actually tied all the loose ends by the end, which is more than what can be said for a lot of manga (Fuck you Mär)
Mangaka seemed to have worked under gag mangakas that focused on janky motions and angular figures early on.
Now they are a lot baby-faced, but still retain some of the unapologetic toilet humor aspect.
Hitoha got especially cute tho
I will always prefer the soft fluffy texture of the 80s.
In my example, the actual monster and suit designs don't actually change.
To be fair sometimes the softer look works better with that particular artwork then others. For example, just look at Rumiko's art of Ranma and Lum. The her new angular and simplified style looks like horseshit.
I just google'd Bleach comparison and got this.
By far the superior choise of the 3 coming through. Fuck even Simca was better than Ringo.
Besides the awesome art and the radical character design, I also love the fact that Oh!Great didn't leave side characters in the side to rot forever and actually developed them and they were interesting.
He's covered with scars now as well.
Technically his newer style is more well-defined and clean in a sense. But the older style actually had more oomph and character to it, really did make Ichigo resemble his 'thuggish' appearance or Orihime her overly-innocent self.
It's kind of like how the old Naruto manga art was pretty terrible but at least was a helluva lot more expressive compared to when Kishimoto literally started copying the anime's cleaner style and then everyone suffered much more bland faces as a result.
