So we were actually having some really good discussion before the thread got archived. Shall we continue where we left off and see where it goes?
Starting off on the right foot already
Since we left off on talking about Iroha's role in the harem I'll start off with that.
>I'm sure he feels affection for Yukino and Yui to some extent, whether romantic or not is up to interpretation. Since Hachiman never explicitly states his feelings (which is the most frustrating part of the series), we'll never know until the last book, so it's all up to interpretation whether his monologues about the girls is reflective of what he feels towards them or not. At the very least, it's pretty obvious there's something there for Yukino considering the amount of internal conflict he had regarding himself and her. The contrast between volume 5 and volume 10 should speak for itself.
I agree for the most part, but I'll argue that he is more attracted to Yukino on the basis that her descriptions are always using more flowery language. The fact that the narrative is from his perspective makes it clear his eyes are drawn to her more often than not.
Though it can also be said that he is, at the very least, attractive appearance wise to Iroha as well. Since she also tends to get more descriptive narration in regards to her appearance.
Whether or not it's actual affection remains to be seen. But at the very least he is extremely fond of them. He enjoys the banter between him and Yukino in, at minimum, a friendly manner. And he feels responsible for taking care of Iroha because of the election mess, and his Komachi-skills.
Just do the usual, report/ignore. They'll get bored of it eventually.
She was eating a cake beforehand. Retard.
>attractive appearance wise to Iroha as well
A moot point since he describes every girl in good detail when they get close to him like Haruno or sensei.
What matters, at least to me, is who Hachiman thinks of and how that affects him as a whole. And the only one that fits is Yukino.
Then again, if there's going to be any confessing going on, it's going to be from the girls since the guys are depicted as doormats in this series outside of getting problems solved.
Is this worth getting into? I was tricked into watching the first series because somebody told me it was a great love story. Fucking assholes.
Now I feel obligated to watch the second season, but I couldn't make it through half of episode 1 without getting bored.
From what I can see, he unconsciously avoids thinking about those things. The whole rumor thing was evidence of this.
And I think he shrugged off the idea of marriage because he thought it wasn't realistic.
Well if volume 10.5 is anything to go by, the girls are at least conscious about the idea of one of them going out with him. That awkward silence after he brought up the fact that "everyone" wishes for a girlfriend in high school being a good indication of that.
Anything about Yukino having a relationship with another person seems to be a blind spot for him. He tends to filter out that possibility automatically.
>I hate this thing other people like. I don't get it!
Then why bother coming on to these threads? If you're so pathetic that you feel the need to come over to moan, bitch, and whine about stuff you don't like then you honestly have a pretty sorry excuse of a life.
Do you feel vindication in some way? Do you have some weird satisfaction by thinking to yourself that you're somehow superior to the masses for having different tastes?
Honestly you people don't make any sense to me at all. Can you just go crawl back into your hole and die please? Your cancerous existence is making me sick.
I still don't understand why people take the trap shit seriously. If anything his relationship with Totsuka is supposed to be an indication of his development into a person who can see past the ideal image he places on them. Chaning him from a fetish-fuel object, to an actual male friend.
But nope, people just go with the "fuck the trap" angle.
Sorry, I know it was most likely bait. But I honestly want an answer for that kind of mentality.
I dislike Naruto so I avoid Naruto threads, it's really that fucking simple. I know shitposting is like a compulsive thing for some people. But then there are those who just take the time to threads just to lord their tastes over other people.
I guess the comment, and I hate using this word, "triggered" me since I have to deal with this shit all the time IRL due to my field of study. So sorry about me biting onto the bait anon, but it was good for venting for me personally.
You know at this point I feel the series is gonna end up with a threesome with 8man, Yui, and Yukino. And I probably wouldn't even mind.
Saki who? I'm sorry but the name sounds only vaguely familiar to me.
The freakout would be pretty funny, especially since her whole reason for shipping is to get a girl that will make him work. The act of him actually doing labor would probably be enough to make her lose her shit.
Define "like". If it's just fondness, she hides behind 8man after encountering Yui's dog in volume 2 and reflexively grabs hold of 8man's clothes when frightened during volume 4. But it's after volume 9 that it turns into more than just plain fondness.
The name is vaguely bringing something to mind, but nope sorry still nothing.
If Spyro is holding onto chapter 2 until Iroha's birthday, I have no idea if I should be pissed about that or happy. Considering chapter 2 is supposedly the fap material to end all fap material for Irohafags; I think I might as well go with both.
What are you talking about anon? As a COLLECTIVE I believe that the CHARISMA of such a UNIQUE individual would be ENDEARING to the MASSES of /a/.
How could such METHODS and INTRIGUING speech be CONSIDERED as Shitposting?
What conflicting emotions does this face convey?
Why are all the trees leaning towards me? Are they going to eat me?
Most likely busy translating Chapter 2, or retranslating the previous volumes since he felt they were lackluster.
But he most likely just avoids the Yahari threads now that the second season is airing. A lot of the animeonly shitposters blow a blood vessel when he shows up.
>I did it again
>It's not my fault
>Society makes me do this
>But I don't care, because no one got hurt this time
>What about me?
>Maybe, maybe I should change...
>I want to go home
You'll miss a lot of the fun we have with on /a/ about it. Yes it has been terrible with shitposting since the anime aired, but we had genuinly great threads while spyro was translating the LN.
Man those times were fun and I still cling to hope that we can reproduce them.
It was pretty bad to be honest, it took making three threads to properly distill the shitposting from the actual discussion.
Though that might be just the initial backlash that is expected from a first episode of a second season. But we have to wait and see how the second episode threads are, to judge just how bad it's going to be.
That's a good idea anon, if you want to read up to S2 just read to volume 6 then stop. Though volume 7.5 is chronologically before volume 7, so that should also be fine for you to read without spoilers. Though you should avoid the drama cd volume track, since that has some spoilers for later novels.
Am I the only one who feels that Iroha is bit of a slut. I mean she liked Hayama because of his popularity, being athletic, and perfection. And her moving onto 8man as a way to satisfy her needs because she was rejected seems a bit artificial. I feel as if she's just using 8man.
I don't know but I just can't help but feel her so called feelings for 8man is artificial imo.
>When I asked her, Isshiki corrected her posture seriously and sat up straight. She slowly looked at my eyes and spoke.
>“…I’m starting to want something genuine too.”
>My face turned red to those words. That’s right. When we left the club room that time, we happened to meet Isshiki. I reflexively pushed against my brow.
>“You were listening…?”
>“Your voice was leaking out like normal, you know.”
>When Isshiki nonchalantly replied, I spoke back with a pathetic voice.
>“…Please forget it.”
>“I won’t… I can’t.”
>Isshiki answered with an expression that was more earnest than normal.
>“That’s why I thought I’d try going forward.”
While I do agree that her crush on Hayama was most likely artificial. I feel like her affections towards 8man are more real. Hayama's rejection was probably confirmation for herself on whether or not she actually liked him.
Yukinoshit seems to be the winning one here. Yui didnt do jack shit in latest volume.
Sad day for us non-yukinoshit fans.
Always have hope anon even when it seems dark because within that darkness there's alway a ray of light. Believe!
Not really anon. There have been many series that have broken that rule. Now I'm not saying it's a definite for this series but there's also a chance where the author might go for some other route.
Implying that Yukinoshit is the nicest character.
I hope Yukino loses so I can see all the fuckin rage and delicious tears come from all you Yukinofags. Always acting like she's perfect and shit when she's actually really self centered.
I came to post best girl and One Genuine Pairing.
I'm not even a Yuifag. I wouldn't even be mad if another girl won the 8manbowl other than Yukino. Fuck I'd be even happy if 8man ends up alone than be with Yukino.
I just want to see the delicious tears of Yukinofags, is that too much to ask?
This pic is pretty much obligatory at this point.
Care to elaborate? The wait for chapter 2 has been killing me, so if you're willing to spoil some shit (with tags of course) I'm sure people will appreciate it.
So what would your reaction be if 8man actually ends up with no one?
You must be pretty damn retarded anon, because I did put the title there. Not my fault your autism prevents you from seeing the obvious. You have my condolences.
I'm fine with it as long as it's properly done. Maybe imply the antics will continue into their college years or something.
But as an Irohafag I am still hoping for the small possibility that she will win.
Eagerly waiting for the series to end so I can free myself from the shit fanbase.
Though, that doesn't seem to be any time soon seeing that the first BD has a volume written by Watari, aka 6.25, 6.50, 6.75. Guess we won't be seeing volume 11 for a long time.
Nah, Yui will realize her fate is to be the normalfag that teaches these two autistic kids how to love.
I don't know brah if you were in the same situation it would be awkward as fuck. Like being with someone that you really liked/loved who's dating your friend would clearly make the atmosphere a bit uncomfortable. Fuck I wouldn't know what to do. I wanna say they would accept it but that's fuckin hard, I'd only see the friendship breaking apart real fast.
That's one the reasons why I feel it may end with 8man being with no one, but anything could happen though.
Iroha asks 8man out on their day off to fulfill his earlier promise to find good date spots. They start by going to a cinema - Iroha suggests a big Hollywood film, 8man responds with "then I'll watch this other movie, let's meet up at Starbucks when we're done". Iroha decides against watching a movie, so they go play table tennis instead. Iroha plays dirty but loses anyway.
After this they go to lunch. 8man takes Iroha to a ramen place. She's not impressed at first, but later admits it was pretty good. Next, Iroha takes 8man to a trendy cafe, where they see the StuCo vice pres and secretary on a date. Iroha says that next time, they should go somewhere less likely to have people they know.
Then they go home. Iroha says it was fun and gives 8man a score of 10/100.
Well at the very least I appreciate all the work you're doing. Can't speak for the whole fanbase, but it's great you're doing this even if it's largely on your own whim.
You really love posting that in every thread don't you? Not that I can talk since I just lurk in every thread so I can post that Iroha pic to spite the more obnoxious shipper shitposters.
Much appreciated anon, thanks for the spoiler tags too. You don't see that very often in Yahari threads anymore.
become an editor for
I'm sure somebody will photoshop normal anime eyes on him. I don't feel like doing it though, so you're going to have to rely on another anon this time.
I do love posting it. I used to feel kinda bad for Yui because IMO this is largely the story of 8man and Yukino mentally crashing into each other to work out their individual issues, but after Vol's 8 and 9 the idea that Yui is going to be the one to make sure those two numbskulls don't veer off course made me warm and fuzzy.
too bad he's gonna fug yui eventually
that girl wants his d so much
he was being a pansy over her leaning on him and from an indirect kiss
he might think he wants yukino but he's mentally beating it to yui every chance he gets.
The budget for S2 shows. I dig the new designs a lot.
Is it weird that I liked Brains Base's character animation more, as in it fit the characters, but feel's animation is so damn comfy and well drawn? They really learned from their pornos.
You know at this point I really don't give a fuck who 8man ends up with. As long as the characters are happy and there friendship is still intact that's good for me.
Fuck I'd even be alright if 8man doesn't end up with anyone.
Mentally fapping to Yui is acceptable, just remember who your lady is at the end of the day.
Shit opinion found, immediately discarded. Nothing more to see here people.
Reminder to post this pic whenever the animeonly fags complain about Feel stealing Yui's breasts away from her.
In all honesty I really can't see how 8man can resist that, especially Yui.
He's truly Batman.
Well when all you post is x>y>z without any real arguments I'm not really inclined to give any credence to it am I? Plus it's most likely bait, and that's my way of telling others just to ignore it.
It's mostly a joke on my part, but I believe the current opinion is that the majority of shitposts are from the part of the fanbase that only watches anime. Since it's the lowest common denominator and all that.
...That actually freaks me out quite a bit. It's hard to look at, but difficult to look away at the same time.
>Next, Iroha takes 8man to a trendy cafe, where they see the StuCo vice pres and secretary on a date. Are they the first couple we've seen in this series? I don't think we've seen any of the other characters introduced, however major or minor, be in a relationship (other than parents).
I think so anon, there aren't even any beta couples around. As far as I know even Haruno and her ilk were single. Which is kind of odd considering the high school setting.
I'm not the anon you're responding to. But you have to admit that the Tsundere archetype is getting a tad bit out of hand with the senseless violence. I'm fine with comedic slap-stick moments, but some stray a bit to close to actual abuse in my opinion.
My captcha was Gendo by the way. Kind of freaky...
I don't agree in general, but I agree when viewed from a case-by-case basis. What's important is the execution and how it relates to the story, not the presence or absence of abuse that should matter. To put into perspective: in pure comedy-based genre series, slapstick violence is usually the norm. In serious drama, the character development defines how you can judge the abuse. Then you have the in-between comedy and drama is a mix of both perspectives.
More like him being the logical monster he is, he probably thought about it in terms of "her request" rather than a date.
Though he could just be his indifferent self, and be under the assumption that she is actually looking for spots to spend with Hayama rather than trying to spend time with him.
I suppose the relative way you look at it is reasonable. However I do feel that even in comedic series some authors push the envelope a bit and it crosses a line.
I should note that I'm fine with the character type in general. But I find that as time goes on creators exaggerate the violent aspect more and more while ignoring the more subtle nuances of such behavior that made the archetype interesting in the first place.
>8man takes this paper out of his bag
>The equivalent of one can of glitter falls off the page
Kinda late but during the trip Yui was clearly more clingy than usual which supports the confession idea.
Also during the genuine scene:
>>“But there’re also things that won’t be understood even if you said something.”
>>Yuigahama’s mouth depressingly distorted. It almost looked like tears would trickle down from the corners of her eyes. That’s why I felt I had to speak as gently as possible.
>>“…Even if you said something, I don’t think it would’ve convinced me. I’m sure I would’ve just end up thinking that there might be something behind it, that there were reasons why you were saying it.”
If this isn't referring to Yui planning to confess then I have no idea what it's about.
And if Yui wasn't planning to confess the title of the chapter makes no sense to me.
>And if Yui wasn't planning to confess the title of the chapter makes no sense to me.
I guess the argument could be that the title could refer to Ebina's confession-of-sorts to 8man in the final section of Volume 7. But I still think Yui was planning something:
>Yuigahama looked like she was under the same impression and merrily frolicked around.
>“This is the place! I think this would be a good place! Probably!”
>What ever could she be talking about? Not only did she forget to include the subject, she even added “probably” at the end too.
>When I asked, Yuigahama abruptly stopped and hung her head in embarrassment.
>“L-Like for being confessed to.”
>Why in passive voice…?
To continue, I also disagree that Yukino was aware of Yui's crush and was furious at 8man for separate reasons, as the early chapters of Volume 8 can attest
I hope it's as painful and ugly to watch as it was to read:
>But just one person didn’t show signs of consent. Yukinoshita Yukino gazed directly at me. As I sat there feeling the pressure from her gaze, Yukinoshita slowly began to speak.
>“Normal, huh…? That’s right. To you, that would be normal.”
>When I answered, Yukinoshita let out a small sigh.
>“…Nothing will change, right?”
>I felt I was told that at some point. But, the words spoken just now had a completely different meaning. The words had a feeling of resignation in it and a feeling that something had ended. They were words without warmth in them.
>Those words pricked at my chest.
>Yukinoshita looked like she had trouble trying to say something as her words were cut off abruptly. Her eyes wandered around as if she was trying to look for the words she wanted to say.
>…Aah. This was probably the continuation from before.
>She was going to tell me the words that she swallowed that one time.
>I relaxed my body that grew stiff unknowingly and waited for Yukinoshita to continue.
>Yukinoshita gripped at her skirt. Her shoulders slightly shook. Finally looking determined, her throat began to move.
>But, the words just wouldn’t come out.
>As she stood there, I turned my back on her and headed for the door.
>There was a sigh directed at my back.
>“We both hated acting superficially friendly with others the most, too…”
>I turned my head naturally in response to Yukinoshita’s words.
>With no words that could possibly answer to that seemingly sad smile without the slightest hint of self-deprecation, I silently closed the door behind me.
