What's the most underused character archetype?
What's with all the archetype threads in the catalog today? Fucking cancer
Well yeah, the audience for anime watches anime to stay away from reality so it makes sense.
Its just funny to hear people thinking there are well written characters in this medium, shows how much they know about people.
It also has something to do with the social behavior in Japan being so different from that of the West.
Its totally true that compared to the people I know where I'm from, not even one anime character has got me thinking "Wow they are so realistically written"
Nice and caring tsundere's who aren't complete bitches.
Characters that are such insufferable cunts you can't help but love them
Shinji Ikari comes to mind. Sato from NHK is i think written well. Kyon from Melancholy of Haruhi is probably the most realistic out of all of them.
Maybe you should just stop watching moeshit and slice of life garbage about schoolgirls and expecting realistic characters.
>watches anime to stay away from reality
or maybe it's because they enjoy it, or it's simply fun?
>how much they know about people
again, not all anime is stupid SoL moeshit otaku waifufag pandering for braindead otaku imbeciles.
“Hipster” is a term co-opted for use as a meaningless pejorative in order to vaguely call someone else’s authenticity into question and, by extension, claim authenticity for yourself.
It serves no conversational function and imparts no information, save for indicating the opinions and preferences of the speaker.
Meanwhile, a market myth has sprung up around the term, as well as a cultural bogeyman consisting of elusive white 20-somethings who wear certain clothes (but no one will agree on what), listen to certain music (no one can agree on this either), and act a certain way (you’ve probably sensed the pattern on your own).
You can’t define what “that kind of behavior or fashion or lifestyle” actually is, nor will you ever be able to. That’s because you don’t use “hipster” to describe an actual group of people, but to describe a fictional stereotype that is an outlet for literally anything that annoys you.
The twist, of course, is that if it weren’t for your own insecurities, nothing that a “hipster” could do or wear would ever affect you emotionally. But you are insecure about your own authenticity - “Do I wear what I wear because I want to? Do I listen to my music because I truly like it? I’m certainly not like those filthy hipsters!” - so you project those feelings.
Suffice it to say, no one self-identifies as a hipster; the term is always applied to an Other, to separate the authentic Us from the inauthentic, “ironic” Them.
tl;dr: if you believe hipsters exist, you are a plebeian.
I mean, in universe he's looked at as a cunt. I personally love him though.
Characters that are secure in their sexuality/doesn't go full autism around the opposite gender.
Loving adoptive single fathers.
Battle hardened reverse traps who doesn't fluster when called out on their lack of feminity.
Young adults who aren't delinquents but still smoke.
Shit maybe I'm looking for too much realism in my chinese cartoons but I love these so much.
It might have been the wording. Actually, I think it might have felt more cynical than pretentious. And because going off topic is dumb,
Loser MCs with issues, but that actually develop past being losers. I mean a real hell of a loser, and actually developing into a cool guy, and not just a
>woah so badass
moments, I'm talking about development.
