>rewatching Melancholy from scratch in preparation for Dis of Nagato
>get to the part where Haruhi abuses the shit out of Mikuru during their filming
Holy shit, how did I forget about it? Bitch spends the entire episode being spiteful over something menial and intentionally causing Mikuru actual physical trauma in the bulliest way possible. I don't think the character will ever recover for me. Whats even weirder is how the show just brushes it in the next episode like nothing happened.
>tfw you finally took the time to figure out what they call this expression
She made her drink a diluted glass of very, very light alcohol. Then she gave her light taps on the head.
I'm not saying what she did was ok, but it was more about belittling other people for some kind of twisted instinctive pleasure than trying to harm them. That's the whole point of Sigh, they all let her run wild without opposing her at all, so she started to enjoy playing the role of a God, creating a fictional universe and having lackeys to do everything for her.
Kyon standing up to her made her reconsider all of that.
>starts screaming and shaking emotionally fragile girl for not being able to shoot lazors
>has Mikuru thrown in a shit-filled water because she's cunt-jelly
That shit's not okay
>talks too loud
>record a scene where the heroine is thrown in the river to make the movie more intense
I'm ok with this. At least, it's not worse than screaming "Mikuru is my toy". She changed a lot after that though.
>Missing the entire point of literally everyones arguments in this thread.
Do you seriously have problems to understand the character developement just because it isn't in chronological order? Literally all you need to do is remember what happened in previous episodes. How can that be to difficult for anyone?
>people can't make mistakes
Sighs was like, 8 books ago.
The whole anime is built on a creepy foundation. The world is held hostage by a little not-so-sane girl with constant mood swings. Shit, entire planet gets fucked up if she's slightly bored, how terrifying is this?
>I don't think the character will ever recover for me.
>how did I forget about it
Well, you forgot about it the first time, you'll forget again probably.
Not disagreeing though. Can't stand Haruhi, and only really liked Disappearance which she wasn't even in much.
>Very, very light alcohol
Read the LN, bitch was giving her tequila.
Also she was ready to recreate the entire universe because she saw Mikuru and Kyon on the computer.
All SOS girls are a shit.
Tsuruya a best.
It's also Muikuru's fault. She never said shit so Haruhi just went crazy with the bullying, I mean, Mikuru never complained when Haruhi made the president of the other club fondle Mikuru's breasts.
>Haruhi made the president of the other club fondle Mikuru's breast
I find it odd /a/ never calls her on that. She was prepared to throw around false rape accusations to get her way. Anybody else and people would be screaming '"she's just like 3DPD" but Haruhi for some reason gets a pass.
Haruhi is a psychopathic monster and anyone who defends her (as she appears in the anime at least) is a lunatic.
She is the antagonist. She sees everyone else as tools for her own amusement and will gladly manipulate and cheat her way into getting whatever she wants, and she always gets what she wants by nature of the universe she inhabits. Watching the anime is unbelievably frustrating because she never gets what she deserves.
I found the parts where she tries to dress Mikuru especially disturbing. Mikuru is crying and begging for her to stop and is defenseless against her and Haruhi just doesn't give a fuck. If you took out the comedic SoL music from those scenes and replaced it with a sickening droning soundtrack it could legitimately pass as jarring and dark.
Everyone in the SOS Brigade likes having to follow Haruhi everytime she has a stupid idea. One of the reasons most spectators think she's a bitch is because Kyon keeps criticizing her in his monologues, except he's not actually meaning it.
I don't give her bitchiness a pass, she was undoubtedly a bitch for most of their first year.
It's pretty stupid to think it makes her a bad character though. If anything, it makes her a great character because of how it ties into the premise of the show and allows her to develop in a natural way given that premise. It's part of the plot and her character development, and her personality makes complete sense if you actually pay attention. She changes after Sighs.
Well he liked some of it but lines were certainly crossed like in OP. Later on though Haruhi does listen when he says stop.
I'm not sure about everybody else though, Nagato did go crazy after one one of Haruhi's games, Koizumi is practically a devoted fanatic and Asahina is a programmed doll.
Haruhi pretty much always listens to Kyon. He's usually just too wishy washy to confront her though.
Also, its not like Kyon has much moral high ground when it comes to treating Mikuru properly. Especially throughout Sigh.
Nagato likes hanging with the SOS Brigade
she even makes a joke about Mikuru's "It's confidential" thing later. Koizumi is a fanatic but he enjoys SOS Brigade's antics the same way Kyon does, without the tsun act. Asahina has lot of pressure because of her job, but she grows as a character and her future self showed that she had good memories of her SOS Brigade days.
But yeah, they all suffered before this unity was achieved (E8, Sighs, Melancholy..)
Haruhi is Kyon's fantasy-sue girl, outspoken, adventurous, unruly.
Yuki is his moe preference for shyness.
Itsuki represents Kyon's gay side.
Mikuru represents Kyon's admiration for buxom breasts.
Just as god wished for.
I want Yasumi to repair my computer. She probably could.
This. I really had high hopes for this anime, but Haruhi made it nearly unwatchable.
I just wish Kyon or someone would beaten the shit out of her for all these these things she has done to everyone, even if it would destroy the universe.
>Fujiwara as Viral
What the hell did the artist thought?
Guess when they came out.
Anon, if I wanted to be upset I'd be in the Yuki-chan thread.
Aliens confirmed for spookiest and most dangerous faction.
There you go friend.
>not Live Alive
>not Melancholy VI
>not E8 8
I was pretty disappointed when it was revealed that
Kuyou only was together with Taniguchi because she confused him with Kyon. It would've been pretty nice if Taniguchi would've become for Kuyou something like what Kyon is for Nagato.
>implying she had emotions
>implying she's not just a monster
>Haruhi develops from "borderline sociopath" to "bitch who occasionally displays kindness in order to appease the boy she likes"
Damn what a great person, 10/10 would waifu again.
That was my impression too. Even if Kuyou creep me out I found this rather cute of her.
I should stop drinking before going to /a/, I can't write without sticking the word "cute" everywhere.
You should watch the anime before browsing the threads.
Is there any sign for that? Even it's very implicit, because I don't remember anything.
At first Nagato had almost no emotions as well. And their actually signs of Kuyou having more emotions than Nagato had in the beginning, they are just even more different from human ones.
By "sociopathy" I mean that she clearly and obviously disregards social norms and other people's opinions with no reservations whatsoever. Maybe it's more like narcissism or BPD, I'm not a psychologist.
Alright, I'll concede that some of her acts of kindness are just the vestiges of her conscience rather than for Kyon, but it's still a whole lot less than what an average person would do, and usually consists more of her showing mercy than being genuinely kind.
>giving up is for cowards
Damn this hit hard.
She worried for half a day because she thought she didn't help some strangers well enough.
She spent half of her mountain travel home because she wanted to be 100% sure Nagato wouldn't catch a cold.
She really doesn't do anything wrong except in Sighs. In the end, all she wants is to have fun with people she likes and to take care of them, although she is pretty egotistical in the first arcs.
Not being rude, but that's Kyonko. Your new is showing.
sociopath (plural sociopaths)
A person with an antisocial personality disorder, exhibiting antisocial behavior that usually is the result of social and environmental factors in the person's early life.
Antisocial (or dissocial) personality disorder is characterized by a pervasive pattern of disregard for, or violation of, the rights of others. There may be an impoverished moral sense or conscience and a history of crime, legal problems, and impulsive and aggressive behavior.
Aside from the crime(and she actually has committed crimes), it fits her to a T. Either way I was using the term colloquially, so please take your autism elsewhere.
Did you watch and understand the show? The whole world unconsciously revolves around her, so she has been conveniently getting what she wants her entire life. Naturally, she grew up to be a self centered cunt who is inconsiderate of others. The series is partially about how the SOS Brigade and Kyon changes her.
