So does this guy get typecast or what?
Nips are only capable of making one voice. Monotone as fuck language too. Of course they are gonna be forced into one role, their puny nip vocal cords are far inferior to us baka gaijin's.
Akira Ishida is pretty much the only seiyuu to not fall under that label though.
I felt having him voice Akise was a bit of an insult. That character was such a blatant rip off, down to his decapitation.
Even if Akise was the only good part of Mirai Nikki, aside from Uryuu.
I'm glad he's voicing what I guess is the main villain in Kekkai Sensen, he won't just have a random on-off character for once.
He was only in Kamisama Kiss S2 for like 3 episodes for I couldn't enjoy his voice on a regular basis. Last major role was what, Inari from Kyousougiga and overall he didn't really talk a lot until the final few episodes. He does too many games and not enough anime voice work.
At least there will be a new Ginata season soon.
He did BLCDs in the 90s. There's a story that Koyasu held his hand while recording a love scene.
What about VAs that look exactly like a character they voiced?
No idea, you have got to narrow down Koyasu and Ishida pair up CDs.
It was the 90s
Coincidentally, Miyano is voicing another character in the show. Ishida is good at crazy too.
Vocal cords are pretty lewd.
>pretty cold guy who ignores the fans.
That's something unfounded posted on /a/. He has a good reputation and with no scandal. The only thing that known is that he doesn't really do VA events.
He showed up for Tales of anniversary, Saiyuki and F/Z once.
It's not really unfounded, I remember seeing his coldness mentioned by other seiyuu in a video once. Something like, he has his own AT Field when others ask him out after recording sessions.
Akira Ishida is moe.
>Megumi Ogata: When he saw me all shocked over that, the always calm Ishida Akira suddenly got up and said stuff like, "O-Oga-chan, w-would you like me to make you some coffee? Do you like it with milk or sugar?" or "Would you like me to rub your shoulders? Ask me for anything today!" (lol) We've worked together for such a long time, but he's the last person I'd expect that kind of reaction from! Well, that's what I like about him though (lol). I just responded, "N-No… I'm alright, but thanks," I must have looked really freaked out. "Y-You didn't do it, it wasn't you. It was Shinji," he said (lol). "You were thinking the same thing…" "Y-Yeah…" and we both hung our heads in shame (lol). He's such a kind person. Like, I started thinking, what would I do if I was 14 and thought "I did this"… I just kept those feelings in mind and it was no longer acting, I just performed in the shock of that thought. Of course I felt guilt, but, especially when you feel that way, you want to seek salvation from somewhere… especially as a child. "But, there was no other way, right? I didn't think it'd end up like this." "If even one person was saved, isn't that alright?" he thinks, and that's how he bears it. But, that one person [he thought he saved] turned out to be someone different entirely. He didn't save her… Just talking about it now makes me feel a bit exhausted. If I, an adult, feel like I couldn't bear it, how would I feel if I was told that [it was my fault] when I was only 14? That thought really stuck with me. And ultimately… Doesn't even the person who guided him have to die? As usual.
I can't get enough of his voice. Help me, /a/.
What's the deepest voice he ever uses in anime?
Talking about Ishida always makes me want to replay Tales of Eternia.
His Reid was great.
He voices a lot of Kaworu clones
I bet he had more fun with Saburo, a Kaworu parody that's supposed to be funny, compared to Akise Aru which was a blatant rip off in every single way.
As much as he avoids seiyuu events, he shows up for every single Gintama one. I think he likes comedic roles. There's a certain challenge required in nailing the comic timing and delivery after all.
He seems to have a sense of humour. He's just socially awkward.
I mean heck out Ishida Akira pretending to be a cow
My fucking sides. Why does this cow so lewd?
From the same radio show with Takeuchi Junko, he also pulls off his own version of Sexy no Jutsu.
>5:10 - His reaction to Cow, and his performance
>7:10 - Takeuchi's hilariously fake high school girl impression
> 9:15 - Ishida's Sexy no Jutsu (He got conned into it)
"Which one was easier for you"
"Sexy no jutsu"
>Gilliam/Bes Jordan/Captain Falcon does the Samurai voice
I swear to god they had better let me make my mech look like a Gespenst
Oh shit yeah I think that was supposed to happen around now
When things get goofy his delivery is fucking impeccable. I recently realized Nakai can nail comedy too, I've only heard him in very serious roles so it was pretty surprising.
I recommend listening/watching to all the Gintama stuff where he appears (radio CDs, live events, DVD/BD extras). Just like Sugita says, Ishida is just a shy guy who likes variety shows and Perfume.
>I'm going to eat dinner so I can't come with you [to have dinner]
Best excuse ever.
The "You don't need to introduce yourself, I won't remember you anyway" to some group of rookie seiyuu is also pretty famous thanks Tokyo Encounter.
I'd say Koyasu is even worse in that aspect. IIRC the first day of Tales Fest couldn't be recorded on BD because Koyasu disagreed to it.
I haven't particularly looked out for him, but the only stuff where I've heard him outside of role was the web radios of Arakawa UTB and Jojo.
Ah! Yeah sorry I got my sources mixed up, TE is a goldmine for Sugita Tidbits (tm). I saw caps from a fairly recent-looking event where Koyasu was practically fingering a mannequin on stage. I guess even the Great Old Ones aren't so above fanservicing.
What a coincidence, I just started playing Freedom wars and guess what I hear? Man I'd fuck that voice, no homo
>I felt having him voice Akise was a bit of an insult. That character was such a blatant rip off, down to his decapitation.
Mirai Nikki's mangaka has a staff credit in the Ikari Shinji Raising Project manga, so Akise might be inspired by the ISRP version of Kaworu too.
I've read that, too. I've also read the same thing about Tanaka Rie and Lacus, and the same thing about Sam Vincent and dub Athrun. I believe all of it, and still want Ishida Akira to yell at me about destroying the future.
Nobody wanted to have anything to do with SEED after Destiny finished airing.
Rie Tanaka never understood Fukuda's instructions about how Lacus's character should be voiced (mostly because she is a shitty Mary Sue) and says it was her hardest role, Naomi Shindo refused to reprise her role as Cagalli for the longest time, Kenichi Suzuma was treated like shit by retarded Gunota back when the show was airing for voicing Shinn.
Found it, I think.
>A random trivia in Chinese. I couldn't find the Japanese equivalent. But anyway.
Apparently Ishida-san doesn't look at his opponents during recordings of BL dramas. And Koyasu Takehito, who knew of this 'weakness' of Ishida-san, decided to bully him a bit in the recording studio. >_<
>Koyasu-san arranged two chairs face-to-face inside the studio and invited Ishida-san to sit across from him in those chairs. Ishida-san refused with the reason that he's not used to looking at his opponent (during recording), and Koyasu-san insisted with the reason that he's used to looking at his opponents (during recording).
>Finally, both sides took a step back and they sat back-to-back each other. But during the recording, Koyasu-san apparently was holding Ishida-san's hand (quite tightly it seems) and kept playing with his palm. *huge sweats*
>After all the recordings finished, apparently Ishida-san avoided Koyasu-san for a while...
>I'm wondering about the authenticity of this one to be honest with you
>Koyasu-san apparently was holding Ishida-san's hand (quite tightly it seems) and kept playing with his palm
BL recording stories?
>When I was still a rookie, I played something that you could call "men interacting with each other"
>When I arrived to the studio, the opposing actor was actually Suzuoki Hirotaka [Noa Bright, Tenshinhan, Dragon Shiryu etc; died in 2006 from lung cancer]
>After entering the studio, he said "So you're the one... I'll hold you dearly"
>Suzuoki had been drinking at the sushi restaurant next-door before the recording, so he actually went to sleep in the studio after the main recording was done
>When it was time to record the freetalk, the staff asked me to wake him up
>His freetalk was actually the funniest out of the whole cast; he kept bringing up the events at the sushi place
>When it was time to take a group photo, he said:
>"When I'm with Midorikawa [Hikaru], I always do this:"
>And then he gripped my hand tightly.
>It felt like a father's hand.

Man, how come I had never heard about this one. It's great.
Posting some more Ishida.
Oh how the mighty have fallen.
Please tell me there's more
Say what you will about the show, but the voice cast was godly.
A lot of shit you read about SEED on 4chan was made up by butthurt English speakers.
>oh yeah it was totally said on a blog that was deleted
It's still about a Mamiko Noto and Mai Nakahara short of being every Sunrise bishoujo show of the 00s. Maybe Rie Tanaka too.
>Norma mom is momiji
>Fagget Julio is Junpei
All makes sense now!
>Faye and Spike are tsubasa parents
Also, no posting the best character voiced by Embryo VA.
