Post 10/10 episodes
No final episodes
Meh, Shingeki had its good moments and only gradually slowed down. I ended up dropping it when they were riding through the forest, but more in a 'forget to watch the next episode for months' way, less in a 'this is so stupid what the hell happened' way.
If we're talking about 10/10 first episodes leading to utter shit, sword Art Online definitely counts.
116, 126, 131 and 135 are all 10/10 episodes for me.
>you'll never put a bullet in Madoka's head
>inb4 final episode
Last episode of first season, so it continues.
Ep7 perfectly packs in 20 minutes the whole essence of SnW.
How about we make the hard more "10/10 episode from a 0/10 anime"?
It's actually two episodes, but Episode 9 really took the cake for me.
>Simon vs Lord Genome
>Arc Gurren Lagann
>Super Galaxy Gurren lagann growing out of superdense space with crossed arms
>Tengen Toppa Gurren lagann transformation
>dropping it before the reveal
There isn't better representation of Camus' Sisyphean struggle than this. Unlike Camus tho, it shows a more human outcome than Camus did in his book.
"The struggle itself is enough to fill a man's heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy."
Camus had to have known this was bullshit. There are no God's to replenish the body or the rock or the mountain. In the end of that repeated struggle, we will end up grinding ourselves into dust and have to end destroying the thing we strive for or have it destroy us.
`Hospital episode - Yu Yu Hakusho
`Any Tallgeese-centric episode - Gundam Wing
one of the best first episodes of all time
I saw it
Also Episode 9 is probably the best single episode of 2014.
Ep9 is better than 11 in my book.
Granted, the latter was the ultimate "all hope is lost" point of the ride and Karin fight was just hard to watch (as intented to be) because you know the full extent of it.
But ep8 was just perfect.
Taking up the happy first 4/5 episodes, mix in it the nagging feeling of something wrong in 6/7, the reveal in 8 and making a big ball of it to break down the club founder/big sister was just too much.
Both episodes of this, in fact.
>the way the episode has almost no bgm throughout to build up tension
>those heartwrenching sobs
>Itsuki telling Fu that she's still grateful for everything as the chorus of Inori no Uta kicks in
That episode was absolutely perfect, it says something that it also had pic related happen but it managed to top that. Episode 8 was when we knew that things had gotten dark, but Episode 9 was when things just started tumbling down.
If only Sonoko After had been animated as an Episode 13 this show would've easily been a 10/10, as it stands now it's at least a 9 though.
Best episode of the TV series. Only the movie beats it.
Hard to choose just one episode. I think a lot of the single episode stories are perfect, and the school festival arc too.
>inb4 simply epic Zzzz meme
This episode was perfect, the director really made a good job on this one.
Next level sound effects in this show
Never before had I been healed so hard by an episode that I cired.
The fucking music
The show as whole could've benefit a 13th episode, even without changing a single thing about it. Namely making 2 episodes out of ep12, which even with all the LN background does have an abrupt "and Yuuna punched everything into daijobu. END" feel.
I don't know if they would've gone with Sonoko after in the show though. That's probably a too big S2 - or "Magical Girls Crusade" if you prefer - pointer for an original franchise out of nowhere made by a no-name studio. Back then at least, it had enough success for considering it now.

Some of the obvious ones.
It just felt really heavy-handed to me. You've already put 2 and 2 together about Itsuki and the voice thing but they add the drawn out audition tape scene to make you cry even though the characters barely have enough depth for you to empathize with them.
That thing with the note was cute tho sorry for long response
Macross, I think.
If we're counting individual shorts/skits, than this is easily the best Plastic Nee-san episode.
I wouldn't say that the characters are shallow though, they aren't particularly deep but that's because they're mostly ordinary girls who have (or had) ordinary lives. I'll admit that Yuuna is a rather flat character (like Madoka before her) but the other characters have their own backstories and developments.
To me that scene was the culmination of what YuYuYu was ultimately about, namely the preciousness of their ordinary lives. We had already put two and two together about Itsuki, but this was the moment where Fuu was able to put it together. It's about Fuu realizing how precious Itsuki's life and dream were to her, and when Fuu realized that she had fucked it all up she simply broke.
>characters don't have particular depth
what depth do you want them to have? this isn't some edgy show about angsty teenagers, those cute little girls just wanted to live their daily lives and fulfill their mundane wishes
good job completely missing the fucking point
how wrong you are
Also, this episode.
Great episode yes
All these are 100% correct
My favorite fun episode of iM@S, but the 10/10 episode is definitely 21
My god damn nigger, I was scrolling thinking /a/ had gone full pleb, nice to know there are still patricians among us.
Whole arc is perfect.
Whole series really.
That one fucking episode where Kaiji cuts his ear off
You accidentally posted the wrong image.
Don't worry, I've got your back.
>Hard mode: No final episodes
Isn't it often so that the fore-last episode is the best?
You dropped it right before the best part.
It was horrible in the middle then picked right back up.
You're kidding, right? This is when the series went to complete shit. It was over acted, the obvious revelations were shoved in our face through screaming, and the characters all went full retard because the plot called for it.
Don't forget this one.
The entire series is 10/10. You can't boil it down to one episode.
That 45 second fight scene still makes me diamonds.
Yes. From start to finish, I don't think anything will ever be this good again.
Because instead of being faggots and using shitty CG, they used dat webgen tablet technology to give us something beautiful.
Phantom Blood's pilot was great.
Also, pic related.
>The only bad thing was
I can't stand when a show treats the audience like a bunch of retards, and on top of the overblown acting, Onna needs to shout out "Can't you see you're doing the same thing he is?!" to Decim when the cop finishes his little "I need to see them carry the crime out all the way so I can judge them!" speech. It was incredibly ham fisted, and they bashed us over the head with it despite it being obvious.
On top of that, despite all of his characterization, the boy still goes full retard and stabs the pucks so we can see them shatter in slow-mo (what clever symbolism!) for the sake of giving us the bad episode end that acts as a wake up call to Decim.
The conclusion to that little arc was complete fucking trash, and the only way you'd like it is if you think anything that tries to be series is inherently good, regardless of execution.
That's, just, like, your opinion, man.
I don't think it was hamfisted at all. You sound way too uppity against "trying too hard to be serious."
You must be the same kind of person who would say Fate/Zero was "trying too hard."
>I don't think it was hamfisted at all. You sound way too uppity against "trying too hard to be serious."
No, you just sound like an idiot who couldn't put two and two together without the show bashing them over the head with it, and as a result found it to be well written and not overacted shit.
>You sound way too uppity against "trying too hard to be serious."
No you fucking retard, I hate when people make generalizations like this. "You don't like a shit anime of X genre, so you must hate everything in this genre." It couldn't be further from the truth. I just don't like shit anime.
>Point out how a scene is overdone and treats the audience like reatrds
>"Y-You just don't like serious anime!"
No. You're a retard. Jin-Roh is my favorite movie. Go watch that and realize how bad a job Death Parade does in terms of exploring the nature of humans and the interactions between them by comparison.
The episode that
made it better than gunbuster
I love them both equally, but for different reasons.
I'm still amazed that Diebuster managed to have an ending that hit me as hard as Gunbusters.
Though, to be fair it's the same ending.
I cry literally every time.
I'm not him, but I believe that if Urobutcher actually finished writing his fucking projects instead of abandoning them part way through and letting retards write, they'd be better. Not 10/10, but at least watchable instead of the garbage we saw.
Not him but
>Point out how a scene is overdone and treats the audience like reatrds
Once again this is your opinion, also you are exagerating everything so fucking much and respond with 'lol your retarded" that i'm literally waiting for when you will admit that you were pretending.
Kaiji S02 E08
Ootsuki getting BTFO made me says "YES!" out loud.
I don't know if I would call it 10/10, and it's been so long I don't even remember which episode it was, but I found the episode of Muv-Luv when Yuuya got that heat laser thing and wiped out like 1000 badies with one shot to be immensely satisfying.
>Once again this is your opinion,
It's clear as fucking day that the scene is drawing a parallel between what Decim does and what the detective does, and yet Onna still has to literally scream and spell it out for the viewer in the simplest terms possible.
It's objectively overdone. If you actually needed Onna's exposition screaming in order to understand what was going on, then yes, you're retarded.
>that i'm literally waiting for when you will admit that you were pretending.
And I'm waiting for a DPfag to make a point and not just spew "Hurr, well that's your opinion man!"
This has ptsd? I just started because it looks like K-ON and is from the same studio but it seems fun so far. I don't want something heavy...
Katanagatari, last episode
Akagi, episode 12 (endgame until finisher against Urabe)
Amagami SS, episode 16
Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince, episode 18 (double sniped from space while having two swordsmen violently ram their swords into you-episode)
Hayate no Gotoku, 2nd Season, episode 13 (Hinagiku's birthday)
I just want to contribute before the thread 404'd.
Maybe only a 9/10 episode, but it was so much better than the rest of the show it deserves mention.
Episode 4 of Yuri Kuma Arashi
"I can't get a kiss"
>not THE AWFUL TRUTH REVEALED
how is this not posted yet? i really expected better from you /a/
It's funny, Gunbuster's didn't hit me that hard because I expected it because I saw it on /a/ so many times.
Then I saw Diesbuster, and even without sound, that webm gives me goosebumps. It was such a perfect ending.
Then a few months later I rewatched Gunbuster and I felt the first ending finally hit.
Seeing this depresses me so much.
They have the means, the voice actors, someone to replace the music,
I'd heard of Gunbusters ending, but never had it ruined for me. It hit me pretty hard.
Diebuster ties it all together and hits you like a ton of fucking bricks because you're really not expecting it. The part of Gunbuster that got me was during the final episode, Jung tells them that when they get back she's going to give them the biggest "Welcome home!" ever. That shit is perfect.
For me, Gainax was born with Gunbuster and died with Diebuster.
I really liked pic related episode and the second one with that 3 guys stuck in snow with truck. Also library one was good, somehow I felt like on my /a/ during this episode but I lost screencaps
anime no one has seen.
I thought it was great, I loved the children navigating the dark and Asuka opening the door to be startled by the angel before closing it and going back to being the boss.
That anime wasted good amount of potential but it was good overall
That episode which you posted was nice one.
Not 10/10 but still a great episode
Just like every Eva episode
HOLLY FUCKING SHIT!!!
how no one have posted this yet?
So why do you faggots like this so much? I sat through like the first 6 episodes and it was just trite, painfully boring shit, riddled with dumbasses making dumb decisions and poor writing. It's because cute girls isn't it?
>That insert song
>That entire arc
It's a shame she never appeared again.
Good times. Before everything went to hell.
Actually this one looks better.
>Diebuster anywhere near Gunbusters perfection
I spent twenty fucking minutes straight crying. I just couldn't stop.
Second Season had a lot of really strong episodes, but this one was so fucking good
Yuki Yuna wa Yusha de Aru 05
All that badassery, all that team work, all those blood boiling moments, those shounen.esque scream, that friendship, and that re-entering the atmosphere.
>One major departure can connect the ones left behind
Every damn time
I'll take your summer festival episode and raise you a Ritsu x Mugi date episode
On the other hand, I think almost every episode was perfect.
Mashyu vs Angel was pretty good.
you have gain
They're all pretty fantastic, but I just want to give a shout-out to Mushishi 21.
