She's a batshit insane schoolgirl assassin!
>What's her backstory?
She was raped!
Getting real tired of lazy writers.
Are you suggesting that any character being raped is a sign of a lazy writer ?
Me personally I think any character that resorts to violence is a sign of a lazy writer. I think All problems within fiction should be caused and solved via verbal communication instead of primitive savage fist bludgeoning porn.
>All problems within fiction should be caused and solved via verbal communication
That sounds dull as fuck. There isn't a dichotomy between dialogue and violence when it comes to conflict or resolution. There are plenty of other interesting options that can be much more nuanced than either. And yes, rape as backstory is often a shortcut to get your audience to empathise with a character. They'd introduce some oddity or defect in a character and have people wondering why that is, and then it's revealed that they got raped. And that's the end of it. I hope you feel sorry now. That's some zero effort formulaic narrative that demonstrates no creative exertion on the part of the author. Not that this is always the case with rape, but it often times is and it's clearly those instances that are being complained about here.
>Japan in charge of original concept
"assassin" being anywhere in the plot synopsis should've been a dead giveaway of how unoriginal it was going to be anyways
literally the only assassin manga/anime I've ever cared about is Golgo 13 because it keeps things simple
It wasn't just a little bit of rape, anon.
I've seen so many tropes, moe blobs, and reused plot points that nearly everything seems like it has no creative exertion.
Judging by the Op image , this is just another mindless violence and sex exploitation manga, Im more annoyed with the anon who thought he was gonna get berserk or death note after reading the first chapter.
Im annoyed that out of all the most likely shallow/lazy features of this manga, op will only whine about a rape being in a character's back story.
Sacred Blacksmith is the only instance I can think of that uses rape well.
nah ninja is pretty ok (not many series usually make the MC a ninja in a modern setting with a straight face so there's usually something up).
it's usually only when the main is an out and out assassin
It violates bodily autonomy. Basic thing we all take for granted is that we have control over our bodies and what goes into them. Having your bodily autonomy fucked with is something that fucks people up.
There's other ways it can be violated, but rape is the most common and well known. Another example is the force-feeding of inmates at Guantanamo who are on hunger strikes. It's about as bad as rape.
>force feeding hunger strikes faggots
The inmates did it to themselves. They choose to suffer by themselves. Why the guards choose to feed them instead of letting them die is beyond my comprehension.
Maybe i should try the whole hunger strike too the next time i feel hungry. Someone will come and force feed me stuff and basically lower my food bill.
I still need to finish maria the virgin witch. I thought it nailed medieval religion, politics, & sexuality in the first couple episodes. I heard there was a well-handled rape plotline, which would probably be the first one I'd seen in anime
Nice b8, but stop. If you keep pretending to be a landwhale /co/mblrcunt or an underaged ledditor, you may actually attract the real ones here, thinking they are in good company.
>implying tumblr or reddit approves of rape as a plot device
That would be normalizing rape, which is an essential act of rape culture, which is a cornerstone of the patriarchy and violence against womyn.
When you're pushing the edge of sex and violence, I think its a granted that rape is going to come along at some point. You could easily say 'but that isn't good manga!' but manga is a medium that relies on shock on every page.
If anything it not being more common is strange.
