You have 10 seconds to make a concept for a harem anime that doesn't suck.
This and the following:
>24 episodes with a valid closure to the series and not just a shitty open ending to leave room for another season
>decent production costs
>setting more interesting than generic high school
Harem isn't a bad genre, the problem is so many faggot studios try to push shovelware crap to make a quick buck. When done as a proper series with an actual writer and an actual end in mind it turns out fine.
Most harems are garbage.
Harems that are praised are also generally garbage.
The fact that the characters kiss by the 10th chapter or the fact that the main character is alpha does not excuse the shit direction, writing and characterization.
These bitches are all the same. They fit into an archetype and that's it.
MC is a bona fide pervert who seeks to help out a meek girl initially because of ulterior motives but eventually just because. There's also an older sister who want's MC's D, a tsundere who gets brutally friendzoned early on, and a loli.
Takes place in college. It's MCs first day as a freshman and to his luck 5 different beautiful girls fall hopelessly in love with him at first sight. Antics happen, and the MC suddenly finds himself abducted by aliens where he is soon to find out that he is not so fortunate.
An alien comes out telling the MC that he has been enrolled in an experiment to see if human love is genuine and spiritual, or just the product of biological urges. All but one of the girls has been previously abducted then brainwashed and mind controlled by the aliens to make them act like they are in love with the MC. They have essentially been turned into emotionless puppets but outwardly are indistinguishable from a normal human and display emotions and personality, also known as "psychological zombies". Only one of the girls is genuine, If the MC fails to figure out which girl has real feelings for him and sleep with her by the end of the semester, he and and the girl who has genuine love for him will be killed.
Not disputable. You can either have a show with meaningful romantic progression, or you can have harem. To try to do the former in the latter leads to stupid shit like MC leading on other girls when the audience already knows who's gonna win anyway.
As for setting, a pirate ship. MC is the captain and every crewmember is a girl. Harem is explained as a pirate is free to do whatever he or she wishes, including polygaism. General theme of the episodes is attempting to gain the affection of each of the girls by being a capable captain that leads them to much looting, assisting them with past issues, simply appealing to their hidden girly side, and various other archetypes to be unlocked.
A harem anime about a spacefaring mechanic whose hobby is restoring vintage fembots, even if they were never supposed to be fembots in the first place. Every Sweeper Droid on his ship could be a cute robot maid. He travels around the galaxy, evading pirates, aliens, and worse, fixing terraforming systems and atmospheric regulation satellites with his crew of cute gynoids. The plot hooks practically write themselves.
Robots don't feel jealousy, robots are the perfect harem.
School Life/Harem which takes place in the Victorian era.
Maid win the MC.
Honestly those are requirements for most things to be good. It's kinda sad how we only have 2-4 anime per season now that aren't shitty one cour cashgrabs that are based on some ongoing manga or LN that are scheduled to just end in the middle of the story unless they sell enough for an S2, then if they DO get an S2 they pull the exact same shit to aim for an S3.
>Harem Male Character
>Lot's of female character's apart from the MC love him/dont mind him being perverted/accidentally groping breasts or landing in them via tripping
Male Character was made by big bad His presence rewrite's reality so the women who love him focus only on him instead of doing their own thing
MC asks out best girl in the first episode and the second is their first date. The series expands their relationship in a realistic non-autistic way and the rest of the girls are only there for comic relief and character building.
I can sort of agree with this. It's always lame to see a girl get "chosen" -or even worse an open end where the writers puss out.
There are some ways around it. Amagami/Sora format isn't too bad. Harem end works but almost never happens. There's also rare cases like >>124027481 where the rest of the girls except one are somehow faking it. >>124027513
is good too.
When MC was a kid, he had a childhood friend who told him that she saw real aliens. He didn't believe her, and when they both went to check the supposed alien facility, she fell to her death from the great height, saving his life.
Many years later, MC is a lonely high school student and the only astronomy club member, who observes the sky every night hoping to catch the sight of aliens his beloved childhood friend believed in.
This lasts until one day a mysterious transfer student enrolls in his class. She looks exactly like his dead childhood friend, exept she acts like a totally different person and doesn't remember him one bit. MC finds out that she has a strange device on her neck and she posesses supernatural powers.
Turns out, she's one of the experiment victims who escaped from the alien research lab. Gradually, other escaped girls (who also have different powers) gather around MC, join his astronomy club and try to live a peacful live. And it would've been okay if not for one thing - if they don't take a certain drug regularly, they will die horribly in next two days. This drug is not present in any handbook and there are no clues on it's manufacturer or composition.
Was going to say something like this. Throw in some geo-political shenanigans and economy, warring states and personal conflicts between the families of the girls and MC, and maybe it could be interesting.
I just realized that if NiseKoi actually bothered to keep the shit about the yakuza and mafias and so on, it might've been interesting.
The characters are likeable. Like pic related.
Candidate for Goddess
Good as long as it's a hentai series
Would three episode rule
Could be good
So basically DxD minus the demons and magical elements? Meh.
This is an actual good twist. I can see it allowing for a psychologically interesting and somewhat dark story without being edgy shit. Would watch.
Already been done many times, the shows just didn't reveal the MC was gay.
This is another good twist. Both a parody and a criticism of the genre at the same time. Would watch.
That sounds absolutely terrible and yet brilliant. Would watch to the end. Would import buy the BDs. 10/10.
I feel like this has already been done by a show a long time ago.
Three episode rule.
This is basically how kyoani directed Clannad.
Been done. Was glorious.
Pretty sure a shoujo has done this before
Truth. Betafag MCs are instant dis-qualifiers.
Reverse harems only seem good because they are rare. They really aren't. Female MC just feels like a way to have a beta MC and get away with it.
Harem with 3 girls that all like mc.
mc likes two of the girls but doesn't like the third.
mc generally hangs out with all 3 girls at once rather than separately.
Girl that mc doesn't like confesses to him, he says he doesn't feel the same way.
The other two girls get pissed at him because they are all close friends.
They all stop talking to him and the series ends with mc getting fucked.
This would never happen, because it would completely destroy the otaku's fantasy world perception of waifu women who would adore their greasy disgusting asses. Harems are fueled by otaku money, so you'll NEVER have an interesting harem that actually shows real human emotion or portrays male-female interaction in a realistic light, because it will anger the otaku market.
And that is why they will always remain haremshit.
Last step aside, this sounds kind of like Please Twins. I might be wrong - it was a long time ago, it was shit, and I deliberately don't remember large portions of the series.
Actual harem in medieval times in some middle-eastern or country in lesser Asia. Make it Otoyomegatari-type aesthetics. And then reveal it's a young woman getting a harem of other girls.
One of them has a dick. Another is crossdressing. Shit, the possibilities are endless.
you make comedy series with harem end, just to spite haremfags.
Takes place in the past, Mongolian shit, empires.
The show focuses on taking over places, political propaganda, and of course it will have 4 wives as main characters along with our emperor Abdul
So like Tenchi, but less comedy, more romance, and historical action
MC is the pinnacle of masculinity and an all around awesome guy, someone you wouldn't even mind seeing getting a harem end. All the girls want him,
except the only one he's interested in. Half the harem tries to support his love, the other half opposes it. Cue comedy.
MC is in a happy relationship with another girl.
Unfortunately, the other girl's mother is a witch, and she desperately wants grandchildren one day, so she uses her magic to turn MC into a (very attractive) boy.
Will MC be able to adjust to the new life as a guy? Will their relationship hold or will they break up? Will MC be able to keep all these girls who are suddenly coming onto him away? And what's the deal with his male childhood best friend suddenly acting so flirtatious and shy around him?
A young man (early college/uni) has just asked out his tomboy childhood friend. While they are both in college they end up getting popular with other people and both are propositioned for dates. They turn them all down of course, but these people are persistent.
Cute college students doing cute college things, harem on both sides of this relationship, lots of peacocking from the harem to try and win over the MCs,
wedding end just after graduation.
>MC is not the one with the harem
>MC is a manipulative social savant dedicated to helping his dense best friend get his dick wet
>Most of the focus is on the mechanics behind the keikakus that MC enacts in order to set up the insane situations that occur in harem antics
MC is the only male in a band that is worshipped teenage girls
MC hates teenage girls so he bangs his entire band
>except the bassist who is a loli
>mc has a whole harem of all kind of steretypical anime girls
>too bad he is gay
>Yamada- kun and the seven witches
>not turns into a shit without any actual plot after the seventh witch arc
>an insane genki ace TIE Bomber pilot is the only female on board a Star Destroyer manned by crew of 37,085 on an extended patrol of the Outer Rim
>ultimate harem anime ensues
That was unusually easy.
>There Is No Way My Little Sister Is An AV Idol
>MC finds out that his barely legal little sister is a pretty popular AV actress
>he mets her colleguess who turn out total bros
>builts a harem from other porn chicks
>the moral of the story that people who work in porn industry are just as human beings as anybody else who just happen to have a job with lot of social stigma
Mc dies in the first episode.
we follow the lives of the girls trying to cope with the loss of their first and unique love.
the loli years later gets surgery and becomes a photocopy of dead mc, building a harem. things start to get morbid when she kidnaps the girls of the old harem to end everythinh how it was supposed to be. in the ending evryone dies, except the ex-loli, disfigured and tetraplegic due to the fire that destroyed everything
>MC is a serial killer who murders every girl who falls in love with him
I think there was manga that followed a similar plot to the first two points, only the harem king was a supporting character and the actual MC was haunted by his ghost and was trying to do... something. I can't remember. Didn't really read that much of it.
Love Hina if manga applies
I re read it once in every few years since I simply love the character progression in it
Anime about a guy who opens can rap and opens up a rap club in his school, he gets a harem of some girls, a shy library nerd who actually likes to rap, his childhood friend, a Gyaru and a tomboy tsundere.
They go to a rap contest where after training with some old rapper chinese for 3 episodes they win the tournament.
One of the girls get shot in the end by a rival rap gang, MC takes the bullet for her.
12 episodes easy.
MC gets stuck in VRMMO.
falls in love with harem.
finally gets out of mmo after months stuck in it surviving and forming lifelong bonds with harem.
finds out harem is not what he expects.(traps/morbidly obese/parapalegic types)
still oves them for who they are on the inside.
in the end he gets hit by a japanese truck.
Guy and his dyke sister move to a new school together, both massive perverts.
Have competition to see who can get the largest harem. By the end the school's pretty much two separate factions.
Wait, never mind, I just thought of an even better one.
The story begins with MC's grandfather. MC's grandfather had five sons. They all got happily married, and they all had children of their own. But there was one problem: All the grandchildren were girls, and grandfather desperately wanted a grandson.
So during a family get-together, MC's grandfather announced that he will leave his vast fortune to his grandson, if he ever has one. If he dies before any of his sons manage to produce a son, all the billions of yens he has earned during his lifetime will go to charity.
Soon after the family meeting, MC is born. Yet another girl.
Of course, seeing how the grandfather was already old and starting to go senile, MC's parents decided to lie and claim that MC is a boy. After all, the old fart should die any year now and they will inherit all the vast fortune, right?
It's been more than 15 years since. MC is now starting high school, and still needs to pretend to be a boy.
Being extremely popular with girls, MC quickly acquires a harem. But the problem is, she is perfectly straight, so she needs to juggle the harem to avoid suspicion, while not getting too close to any of them, or allowing them to discover her secret as they might accidentally leak it. To make matters worse, some of her cousins are also attending the same high school, and not all of them are on friendly terms with MC.
Will MC's charade manage to outlast her grandfather's life? Will she ever experience the teenage romance she always dreamed of?
The Groundhog Day harem. Protagonist was trapped in a time-loop and used it to discover the turn ons and weaknesses of every single girl at his school/workplace. Dated all of them, slept with all of them, had multiple relationships in one day - with one exception, the worst girl. And when he finally decides to give her a try, the time-loop will cease to exist. Congratulation protagonist, all the girls loved you and now are mad at you.
That's the start of our anime where protagonist desperately tries to reset time for one last time and in the end learns to accept the terrible choices he made in life.
MC is super popular. He's considered the school's male idol and is model-tier in attractiveness. However, he is an extreme introvert who is only interested in 2D. He keeps getting put in situations like a beach trip and has to find ways to make himself less popular that keep on failing.
Turkish oil wrestling was Greek to start with. The Turks added leather shorts and changed the win condition, the Greeks literally called it over when your dick was in the other guy's butt.
lolis pilos spacecraft and they all worship and idolize a 13 year old, confident, swagged out ace pilot girl who shows them affection from time to time.
all the lolis fight for attention and kisses in between saving the world.
>Japan in 100 years
>Population is down to less than 500,000
>Radiation has made 90% of Japanese men sterile
>Anime makes the rest herbivores who are scared of women
>Japan is dying
>MC is "normal" otaku male high school student. IOW, herbivore with ED.
>Gets hit by the dreaded Japanese truck
>Word gets out around hospital that there's a male who can reproduce
>Hospital staff of christmas cakes want babies
>School of sexually repressed girls want a man with testosterone
>MC scared shitless over everything
Series revolves around girls' antics trying to get close to the MC without scaring him off while sabotaging the efforts of the other girls. Except the hospital, who's staff intentionally get lewd trying to entice him. MC is constantly getting more and more weirded out and distressed over the unwanted attention.
MC dies a virgin (That damned truck again) but the hospital extracts enough DNA from his corpse to father a harem's worth of children. Japan is saved in a bittersweet ending.
The girls are actually all lesbian. They pretend to chase the MC to hide this and present a heterosexual front. They've deliberately chosen the densest guy in school just to make sure there will be no actual romantic development with him.
Show starts with confession from MC, best girl says yes and they fall in love. Due to some science/magic shenanigans, the end of the first episode shows the best girl has split into many different girls; representing different parts of her personality. He now needs to win over all her different personalities and try to find a way to reunite them.
MC is a demon prince in a hellish fantasy realm. After his father is put on his death bed, the MC must fill his shoes and protect his kingdom from rivaling demon lords in death matches. To do this, he must cross over into present day Japan and get a harem. Each night as he sleeps, he wakes up in Japan in the morning to go to school.
For each girl that joins his real world harem, he gets more power in the demon world. If the girl is a tsundere, he gets fire power, and if she's a genki girl, he gets electric powers, and so on. However, he has a problem. He has been pampered his entire life and hasn't had any human contact besides the castle help, so it's up to him to figure out how to swoon girls over by himself.
At the start of the story, MC is the typical harem loser. He and some other male classmates get sent to a fantasy world because one of them is "The Chosen One" who would rally the world's warriors against the Evil King.
MC succeeds in everything he does in this world and catch the affection of many through unnatural luck, as all his other classmates are sent back after it becomes obvious they aren't "The Chosen One".
There was no Evil King, everyone in the world were monsters who fed on the happiness of humans. The MC was the only one who was so caught up in being a typical harem protag that he didn't realize how unnatural everything was. He gets eaten as soon as he achieves the "harem end" he wanted without ever knowing the truth.
Comedic female harem where all the usual harem cliches get flipped around. MC walks in on one of the guys changing and he slaps her across the room. One of the guys sneaks into the bath with MC and hugs her from behind pressing his dick against her butt.
What if those multiple personalities got their own body? And they all want MC dick?
My nigga. I'm glad within the first three chapters the mc decides to go out and date her/them, instead of three volumes of pussyfooting.
Gonna list my requirements for a good harem:
>MC needs to have no personality for easy self-inserting
>MC needs to be a teenage Japanese male, with average looks and intelligence
>MC needs to have the harem MC haircut™
>MC needs to be surrounded by beautiful girls that want his dick for no reason
>MC needs to be completely clueless and unresponsive to the girls' advances
>When he does react, MC needs to recoil in horror at the touch of womanflesh
>The only allowable sexual contact is accidental boob-grabs or pan-chira
>Each girl needs to be given enough attention to develop their own fanbase, but not enough to become interesting characters in their own right
>The abusive, snotty, otherwise average girl NEEDS to win; other girls must be only slightly upset or happy when this happens
Medieval Fantasy "RPG"-style story revolving around a guild.
First two characters are the male protagonist and his childhood friend. Male protagonist is a medic/white mage but not good with people (less awkward and antisocial, more brash and just not wanting to bother with niceties), so he sends his childhood friend to go recruit more party members. Unsurprisingly, she mostly recruits more girls, the end result being a guild mostly populated by women.
Over the course of the series they go on various zany quests and, of course, whenever one of the girls gets injured the MC is there to take care of them. Love blossoms.
This was basically the backstory for my Etrian Odyssey IV guild.
I'll tell you what, I'll bite
Basically a regular harem show, but instead focusing on a member of the harem rather than the person the harem is around. Pretty much looking at what t's like to be one of the people competing rather than the one being fawned over.
