I know that 1080p is usually just an upscale, but some of the shows this season are looking way better in 1080p for me.
Am I going blind or what?
I think for this season, Shokugeki no Soma and Grisaia no Meikyuu are the only full 1080p show airing, outside of some 3DCG and children's shows.
There are a few shows that are higher than 720, but not quite 1080, like DanMachi, UBW, Owari no Seraph. Kyoani's standard is the same with Hibike Euphonium, where the show is 955p, but the OP and ED are full HD.
Source is anibin.
You're probably using CR rips (like you have any other choice lately). The 1080 video has better quality. Just imagine the process. They get the original video. They encode that file twice, one upscaled from the source, and the other left like that, but lowering the bitrate. Of course, the first is going to look more like the original. Also, >>124080937 may be right.
This season have a lot of shows higher than 720p:
Vampire Holmes - 1080p
Grisaia - 1080p
Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches - 810p
Future Card Buddyfight 100 - 1080p
Hibike! Euphonium - 955p (1080p OP/ED only)
GITS AAA - 864p
Duel Masters VSR - 864p
FSN UBW - 855p
Owari no Seraph - 864p
Denpa Kyoushi - 837p
Jewelpet MagicalChange - 837p
Shokugeki no Souma - 1080p
The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan - 882p
DanMachi - 900p
I can´t believe that quality show is in a higher resolution than 720p.
Anibin listed it as 720p and said "it's not a SD production but a intensive blur was used" and "there's some part of the video where we clearly see that it's 720p".
It's no bullshit.
I'm pretty sure BS11 is 1920x1080.

What the fuck, why would you make your show intentionally look like shit?
>I don't know but I guess we should rejoice that we're not being stuck with 720p footage like 2 years ago anymore.
Downscaling only a little looks nearly as bad as upscaling so I wouldn't say it's a huge improvement.
If encoders would downscale (and without using Spline36) shows to their production resolution it'd look good though.
Yeah, no. It's 1920x1080 since a few years now.
>I think BS11's Owari no Seraph source is higher than 720p
>I'm pretty sure BS11 is 1920x1080.
The source is 1536x864. I am not talking about the station's broadcast resolution.
