Why do every Madhouse show is an insta-classic? It's not like other studios where their shows are completely forgotten in the next season
Madhouse produced insanely great shit for a while. Not so much anymore.
RIP in peace
I like it too anon but calling it an instant classic and pretending it wasn't forgotten is a bit of a stretch
Not to mention the whole >>124092287 thing about ignoring everything that came after the first arc
I didn't bring it up but there's also Mahouka which is garbage and is something that can never and will never be considered a classic but unfortunately I can't claim it was forgotten the season after or even now.
all I can think about SHAFT that's not Monogatari is Nisekoi because it was an overhyped newfag garbage so I see it everywhere
KyoAni hasn't made something remarkable since K-ON and the suzumiya movie
Fuck, I'd forgotten how good that season was.
You are clearly underexposed, anon. The fact that you can't remember Madoka is proof enough.
>Kyoani hasn't made something remarkable since K-On
Except Nichijou and Hyouka which were both superior shows and Free and Chuu2 which were a shitton more polarizing than anti-moe faggots could ever make K-On out to be
>KyoAni hasn't made something remarkable since K-ON
Everything post-K-On! except maybe KnK was better than that shitheap
Nichijou was the closest to a perfectly-excecuted SOL we've gotten in a long time. Inb4 "but it didn't make me laugh out loud! Comedy can't just be a side-feature to atmosphere and quirk"
I was here while it was airing man, but I wasn't about to pick up a show that looked bad and then was bad, and then only got worse, only to partake in a masochistic orgy on /a/
Even if you want to try telling me that "everyone" watched I can try to pretend that's not a huge lie but are you going to tell me it's an instant classic?
Sunday Without God
As in, we try to forget. Because the first arc is fantastic and the rest is shit by comparison. Hence the "great 3 episode OVA series" joke.
>I was here while it was airing man, but I wasn't about to pick up a show that looked bad and then was bad, and then only got worse, only to partake in a masochistic orgy on /a/
That's the sign that you were and are a newfag. With age comes resignation.
It's not even different opinions that he's complaining about. It's some guy trying to think of SHAFT shows and coming up blank. It's like if you asked me what I thought of Gainax and I said, "The only show of theirs I can name is Evangelion."
>but are you going to tell me it's an instant classic?
It is. It's a production clusterfuck at the highest standard, even its scriptwriter had no idea what happened at the end. It's a part of Madhouse never forgettable darkest history along with Neuro.
Maybe that's your experience but it's certainly not mine. You really need to stop projecting.
That season was chock-full of awful shows. Aside from Mahou Sensou, there was Super Sonico the Animation, Wizard Barristers, Nobunagun, Nourin, Buddy Complex, among others. Watching a few of those was enough for me. I wished to keep my sanity.
If I'm a newfag now, and was a newfag one year ago when Mahou Sensou aired, and was a newfag two years ago when Kaminai aired, and was a newfag the year before and the year before that, I guess what I should really resign myself to is being eternally a newfag.
I liked the ED
I couldn't handle the show's pacing, over halfway through and the full "Ha Na Ya Ma Ta" group hadn't been fully formed yet. It's like it was eternally in its prologue.
Because everything they work on is high budget and well animated.
You can make literally anything good if you pump enough money into and the art direction is good. This is the only reason anyone watches Ghibli movies, the writing and characters suck.
Even Susugoi Onni-sama and No Game No Life managed to be at least mildly interesting for the 2 episodes I watched them for because the art was nice to look at despite the fact that they have some of the dumbest characters and plots in recent history.
I really wish I fucking hadn't. I just couldn't tear my eyes away, it was like being unable to look away from a trainwreck. What added fuel to the fire was that even the LN author admitted Mahou Sensou shouldn't have gotten an anime.
Madhouse and Production IG is very overrated by newfags and /v/ crossborders that think because they made few shows they like, they are godlike and produce hit after hit.
90% of Madhouse shows are poor garbage. Albeit, Madhouse did many shows, so there are some good just because of statistics.
Production IG is main fujoshit studio in industry. KyoAni, with just Free!, is still far away from their gay pedigree.
>Why do every Madhouse show is an insta-classic?
Except how 75% of their shows have been forgotten over the years. Try looking into all the stuff they've done and not just the 10 or so shows you've heard on /a/.
Production IG is overrated the way Madhouse is? I've never noticed.
I watched a bit of Haikyuu!! and it was actually really good. I'm not about to look down upon them for producing fujoshit just because it's fujoshit.
The only other shows worth mentioning (besides others brought up previously) were Zvezda which went nowhere, slowly, WCW which was full of disappointing CGI, and the mostly meh first half of Space Dandy
Still not as bad a winter season as 2010 or 2013
>Production IG is overrated the way Madhouse is?
Niehter studio is overrated. They both just have a small minority who hype them.
The only studio I can think of which is truly overrated is Shaft. Who seem to have a huge following of people who just defend everything they do. Even when they complain about certain shows being bad, they will still defend it to death because 'its just Shaft being Shaft'.
They don't defend the show. They just defend the studio. But I guess the same can be said for KyoAni fans. But at least KyoAni shows still have amazing art production, even when the story and characters put you to sleep.
>But at least KyoAni shows still have amazing art production, even when the story and characters put you to sleep.
Except for Amaburi. I wonder why the production values for that were so abysmal compared to the typical KyoAni show.
Which is a pretty dumb claim. Any complains about 'moe' can be traced to series before KyoAni even existed. Like Mahoromatic or Green Green.
And their increased production values have just spurred other production studios to improve their animation. The only thing KyoAni has hurt is the fans expectations of what they need to achieve. Basically, KyoAni is never going to surpass the hype of Haruhi or K-On.
>they put in a lot of effort
They put some effort, just not a lot. The best they do is making sure things don't look like absolute shit. They are pretty good at avoiding animating things.
The fact that you have to add 'old' to GAINAX proves the studio has made some bad shows. So it can't be a replacement for what OP is saying.
You could say Madhouse made nothing but amazing shows if you only limit it to the years 1997-2001.
How am I missing the point
Old Gainax = every one of their originals was the talking point of the year
New Gainax = completely different studio without all the key people that ran Old Gainax
Old Madhouse = still inconsistent
New Madhouse = utter shit
>How am I missing the point
OP claimed all Madhouse shows were instant classic, which people are pointing out is wrong.
You're trying to claim the same studio made good shows by cherry picking a time frame. And is in no way comparable to OP claim. You're basically an idiot all around.
