>Japan throws a bitchfit over China flying their planes through the Miyako strait into the West Pacific for training, not even intruding Japanese airspace in the process >Meanwhile, Russia is literally flying circles inside Japanese airspace with nuclear capable bombers, but Japan didnt dare to say anything for fear of Russian Rape.
We have nothing to fear from the Japs.
They are just as weak as always. A good bitchslap against them and they will know their master.
>>124113640 >Japan literally claiming all airspace within the east china sea for themselves, sending planes to intercept Chinese aircraft that are flying merely 100km off their own coast >Japan considers all of this 'chinese provocation'
What the fuck.
China just has to take a single step outside their own territorial waters and the Japs are already considering it an airspace invasion. China should learn from Russia and send some bombers around Japan's entire country, making the Japs choke on their own hysteria.

/ak/ is simply popular in Japan atm, with the increase of widespread societal militarism due to the economy and the regional situation at hand.
This is completely different from the situation in the 1980's when more actual /k/ related stuff was produced. But at that time, things like Gundam and other Mecha were more anti-war in their tint. Nowadays, there's full blown nationalism and militarism with a straight face at times.
Japan is so obsessed with military stuff in their media because they aren't allowed to have a proper one. They are literally the only nation in the modern world that is not allowed to have an offensive-capable military. Even Germany was allowed to re-arm after WWII. It's just like sexual repression, you obsess over what you can't have and it turns into a perverted fetish. If they would just repeal Article 9 already and become a normal nation within the military world again, not only would this media obsession go away, but they would probably stop posturing so aggressively towards China and Korea because they lost the short-man syndrome that was making them feel they had to prove themselves.
Actually, yes. Japan approved the largest military budget since WW2 in January, and as a result of that producers probably either:
Wanted to shed the Jap military in a good light because they got cucked by the government or something or seeing that after approving such a large budget means that the general population don't hate the military, want to ride the hype train
>there will never be realistic 80's military drama anymore, showing both the horror and the grand scale of war
>military themed animu will only be Japan stronk militarism wankfest with little girls in inappropriate attires
I would give my balls for a 26 episode series about large scale conventional and mechanized warfare in the style of Homumayonaise. Can be with little girls if sales matter, but shit should be decent and appropriate.
>>124116315 thats got nothing to do with America, china and russia both have significantly different 'sop's by which I mean putin gives zero fucks and squaring off against russia is tantamount to comitting sudoku
>>124113296 Realistically it's because the small size of the Japanese military means very few Japanese youth know anything at all about the military (even less than American youth.) Plus, it's not cool in Japan to hate your country like it is among college educated Western youth and since the military presumably plays with big guns all the time (they don't), you get a bunch of kids who think the military is actually cool.
In reality it's mostly boring, even for the "most cool" part of the service like special forces.
You know, despite their size the JSDF are one of the best-trained forces in the world. It would be interesting if they construed action against ISIS as collective self-defense just to see how Japanese forces would handle a modern Falluja-style urban operation.
>>124118626 It's less that Americans aren't well-trained and more that they're very constrained in what they're allowed to do.
The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were very winnable, it's just no one had the stomach for it and then Obama got elected and said "Fuck it we're leaving, no way this could go wrong amirite?"
It's the age old problem of letting politicians run wars. It's a huge part of the reason the Roman Empire collapsed and it'll be a huge part of the reason the US collapses too. Hell, it's part of the reason the Russian economy is tanking, they allowed a politician (Putin) to determine war strategy.
>>124116156 Wasn't the point of Zipang that the Japanese government at the time was still fucking dumb and needed to be controlled, but without being nuked? In the end they still wanted a healthy relationship with the USA.
>>124114427 >If they would just repeal Article 9 already Which would break the treaty they have with the United States and that would start a whole debacle. Legislators would lose their mind and people would start saying "Bomb them ungrateful elevens to smithereens!"
>>124119129 Obama has already implicitly stated he wants Japan to repeal it, the US has wanted it repealed for a while now so we don't have to keep our forces stationed there to provide for their defense, which is incredibly expensive. Most US policy experts agree Article 9 was the biggest mistake we made during the occupation.
North Korea? They could bomb the fuck outta them. Then what? Their citizens are so brainwashed that they'd distrust any foreigners and fight to their last breath like Japanese citizens vs US if the bombs were not dropped.
>>124119354 It's sad how retarded the leaders of North Korea really are, they can't seem to grasp that no one cares about their shitty country and that if they would just shut up no one would have anything to do with them.
One of these days they're gonna go too far and even China will tell them to fuck off, then they're gonna get bombed to hell and back and South Korea will be forced to actually take responsibility for that shit hole.
>>124119390 Most of the modern world's infrastructure was set up by imperial powers. South Korea would probably be about thirty years behind in its development if it wasn't for the rapid industrialization and creation of infrastructure the Japanese carried out up until the war.
>>124119236 This. You have higher chance to die in traffic accident while going from work in office than be killed in japanese army fighting at some war. And they pay you good money and you have cool things to play with.
The best action anime was made years ago when there was still some memories of what war is supposed to be about.
The idea of some sort of actual violence of fighting only exists in JRPGs and LN now and it's become a parody of itself. No one even uses a gun anime and the sword/fist fights are increaingly about magical attacks. Compare the magical boy fights in Naruto to literally anything from Guver or Fist of the North Star. You look at how goofy the newest Kamen Riders compared to the older ones. Rider X would beat people up with a staff. Now we get guys that attack you with fruit. They hesitate to even write about death in a fucking action show. Kill La Kill for instance had two deaths in the entire show and they weren't even humans dying. There were toy commercials in the 80s with a better portrayal of mortality.
Look at the pathetic attempts to show "the horrors of war" in Attack on Titan. Than compare that to something like Area 88.
Japan really needs to go to war with China if we want our anime to get better.
>>124119444 I doubt South Korea wants good Korea to fall as otherwise they'll have a financial black hole. The only reason they're so technologically advanced is the fact they need to look like capitalism is the way ahead to the rest of the world.
>>124114427 >They are literally the only nation in the modern world that is not allowed to have an offensive-capable military. Kek, JDF defensive in name only. They only don't have nukes and missiles capable to deliver them all over the world. Probably. And they now ranking 9, after worst Korea, EU, India, China, Russia and USA, with prognosis to become strongest in their region in this decade.
>>124119252 >the US has wanted it repealed for a while now so we don't have to keep our forces stationed there to provide for their defense, which is incredibly expensive. >implying the US military doesn't want operational bases on the opposite side of pacific rim
>>124121182 >while stationed our site was right next to a raven launching site on another hill >Ravens use catapults to launch >out smoking one day, and watch as the catapult and the Raven go careening down the hill before launch >out another day and see one crash in the the side of the hill before landing >out another day and see one barrel straight down after launch
Those pieces of shit's. I think those guys lost like five of them while we were there. That's why I liked out Hunters.
>>124121123 We still would keep a presence there, obviously, but as it is we're basically forced to wipe Japan's ass for them. If they could have basic levels of operational control and a decent deterrent of offensive force, our military relationship with them would be a lot more ideal.
>>124113296 You should add Strike Witches even though it's older and Attack on Titan and Knights of Sidonia since both have a very 'isolated kingdom under attack by an outside otherness' with a strong emphasis on military and politics. I think it's all part of the same wave at the moment.
>>124121470 >Australia? Just think about how Australia would wage war on a larger scale. They wouldn't go there and shoot the other guys. They'd simply export their flora and fauna to terraform the enemy country into Australia.
>>124121557 I don't think you understand just how strongly the world around them hates Japan. If you had a bunch of angry chinks yelling for your head every time your PM goes to a building they don't like, you'd get a bit bristly, too.
>>124121620 >If you had a bunch of angry chinks yelling for your head every time your PM goes to a building they don't like, you'd get a bit bristly, too. But surely the backing of the good auld US of A would put your mind at ease?
>>124121667 Except that the price of the US' defence is basically giving up your sovereignty and doing everything the way they say. It's been like that from Anpo to the TPP. Japan was freindly puppet #1 against the Soviets, and now it's friendly puppet #1 against the Chinese.
>>124121667 For a long time, Japan was the only industrialized postwar nation in East Asia. Now, China is the worlds 2nd largest economy and suffering from it's own persecution complex, S. Korea has matured very quickly and there are a number of other rising stars in East Asia like Vietnam.
The thing that'll put any minds to rest in Japan is the fact that everyone is more scared of China than anything else, so a natural coalition of anti-chinese players is likey to emerge.
Hopefully that'll mean no one nukes our glorious chinese cartoons away into the stone age.
