So I felt depressed today, and started watching pokemon again.
>Misty has left
>Brock has left
because kids have autism and want a new play thing every year also what the fuck is wrong with these people? why would you release your strongest pokemon ever? what the flying fuck is wrong with these kids its like they don't want to win.
So I felt depressed today, and started watching dragonball again.
>Oolong has left
>Yamcha has left
>Bulma has left
>I'm not even sure if that guy they're referring to as Goku even IS Goku, he sure as fuck doesn't even look like him
>bunch of blondies everywhere
Because the reason they were sticking with Ash was already solved and they have no reason to continue to travel with him, they're all still in Kanto and Ash can visit them whenever he wants.
>what the flying fuck is wrong with these kids its like they don't want to win.
Characters in the anime actually have hearts, unlike player characters in the games.
Because Misty was an awful character with a vague as fuck goal that she barely did anything to achieve, and the only ones who like her were nostalgiafags and autistic as fuck tsunderefag shippers who treat the dub as canon (fun fact: Misty had no feelings for Ash in the Japanese version). Brock stayed for longer, but he got even more stale as the series went on, so he finally left for good at the end of DP.
And really, each new girl has just been better than the previous one, other than Iris, who happened to be a black Misty with dragons instead of water, so them getting replaced is a good thing.
Also, here's the Japanese farewell scene of the original trio:
Straight from the original head writer:
>Kasumi doesn’t feel love for Satoshi. If her love for him became one of Pokemon’s plots, it would break all the Pokemon series’ structure. Pokemon’s theme is relation between fictionals creatures and people and also growth through think and thin of the young boy (this means an age period for both boys and girls), Satoshi.
>In Pokemon however, the most important theme is relation with fictional creatures, which was added to that theme. For Satoshi, who’s a child, Pikachu is th partne he can count on. For example, even if Kasumi fell in love with Satoshi, it wouldn’t be able to interrupt relation between Satoshi and Pikachu.
>If Kasumi’s love towards Satoshi happened in Pokemon, it would be nothing more than seasoning added to cooking - and, to be honest, for Pokemon’s theme, seasoning that makes taste complicated would be only a disturbance.
>So from the start, there’s no such factor in Kasumi’s character as love towards Satoshi. Surely, it may be that Kasumi was in the ager when girls fall in love, but “Pokemon” isn’t either a shoujo manga nor a cellphone novel.
>That’s why, out of all the characters appearing in the Pokemon anime series, the one with the weakest existence is Kasumi. It was decided from the start, when Pokemon anime was during planning, that Satoshi will be character travelling with friends, because if it was only the boy and Pokemon it would become tasteless and it would be hard to introduce to the girls’ audience. This existence could be compared to a parsley in a dish. It doesn’t need to be there, but the dish looks better if you add it. Occassionally, there are people who like parsley in their dish, but it’s a minority.
Wow, what the...
I thought that thing was never going to get past his "parasitic" phase and stay stuck in her arms forever.
I wonder if the writers will ever make her evolve it to a Togebliss.
Speaking about Serena, has she ever made any progress as a character besides getting into Satoshi's pants?
Did she become an actual good trainer?
Has Haruka made an appeareance because of ORAS?
Yes, the 4Kids dub tried to force it hard as fuck, leading to several cringeworthy line changes and love songs.
>she ever made any progress as a character
Does "character development" counts?
>Did she become an actual good trainer?
Dunno, Bonnie's probably a better trainer than her.
>Has Haruka made an appeareance because of ORAS?
No and never.
>Does "character development" counts?
Ah, so she cut her hair? Well, that's at least something, I guess.
Goddammit, what a waste. She definitely stood with Satoshi too long.
Hooray for Dawn, though.
Misty has been replaced with someone better. Brock has been replaced by a little girl.
>Brock has been replaced by a little girl.
Best decision ever.
plot points that are exclusive to the dub and thus are non-canon/fanfiction tier
>ash wanting to catch'em all
>ash and misty's relationship
>ash promising primeape he'll come back for him
>the legend from the second movie having anything to do with ash
>Ash never promised to go back for primeape in subs?
well, technically he didn't in the dub either, it was the narrator saying ash would, however that line isn't present in the original japanese version
>And are you talking about Lugia?
yeah, the "the earth shall turn to ash" shit is dub-only
/a/ in one post
It was made pretty clear in the original that Primeape was permanently given to the boxer. The dub added some bullshit implying it was just for a temporary training session or something.
> and the only ones who like her were nostalgiafags
I like her because she IS a part of the trio and she's not a bad character a all. You don't let we get attached with a character only to remove it from the story for nothing.
The removal of Misty and Brok are one of the things why pokemon started to be shit.
>kids have autism and want a new play thing every year
Wrong, that's the marketing department which want to sell new shits for kids every year.
>I like her because she IS a part of the trio
>and she's not a bad character a all.
>The removal of Misty and Brok are one of the things why pokemon started to be shit.
Brock was kept around for a good while, though.
Misty was fucking terrible.
Brock seriously overstayed his welcome.
New companions are the best.
New companions are the best.
Kasumi was still hot.
They sure can't stop using dub names though.
Besides Ash, which is just weird for everyone to just switch to Satoshi after all this time, the names come from the games, or if the place/person hasn't appeared in the games, they'll use the Japanese name.
Especially since when everyone is discussing, there won't be any any english names to use in those cases anyway since it's like half a year behind.
Misty wasn't awful character but she isn't the best (Also Iris is bad but she isn't a black misty), Brock was the best bro and was the most useful team member in history.
The best trio is Ash, Dawn, And brock.
Only ever watched the dub as a kid, and when I stopped giving a fuck Ash was still travelling with Brock and May. Could someone give me a general overview of hat has happened since and who else Ash has traveled with?
They basically shuffled in endless iterations of not!brock and not!misty.
They may as well be fucking palette swaps. And these people eat it up. Also Ash has lost almost every major pokemon tournament still.
the first time I saw this girl, I honetly tought her hair was a new pokemon
Pasta summing up BW pretty well:
>*The rivals were terribly handled. Shootie was boring, his character arc barely even involved Ash, and he was given a horrible resolution. Langley and Cabernet just disappeared with NO resolution whatsoever.
>*Ash's team was weak, boring (3 starters + Pikachu and a bird is never an exciting combination), and his reserves rarely ever appeared and had zero personality.
>*Hikari's 10 episode long guest appearance barely involved her at all
>*Grimdark Team Rocket was fucking terrible in every way
>*Episode N had some decent buildup, but the endgame was an anticlimax taken to insulting levels
>*Decolora Adventure had its share of fun episodes, but 20 episodes of random aimless adventures is no way to end a series.
>*It's also generally agreed that the movies weren't very good (I kinda like the Victini one though)
I guess pic related is good enough to give you the reason.
When I was a kid, I had a subbed VHS copy of the second movie and Misty was still jealous of the festival girl and Ash in it. The only difference was that the dub added more dialogue to play it up. That movie isn't even canon anymore, though.
They're my favorite parts of livewatch threads.
New group of guys is way better than anything before it anyways.
Here's Ash having to scan fucking Pikachu.
It's not even Ash using the dex, but you can't tell that from the screenshot, so troll away.
They also originally planned to end pokemon after the first movie and had a scene written out for the ending with Satoshi and Kasumi being together with a daughter. Their relationship wasn't as played up in the Japanese version a it was in the English version, but despite what one random fuck who happened to work on the writing staff thought, it was still present to a degree.
>They also originally planned to end pokemon after the first movie and had a scene written out for the ending with Satoshi and Kasumi being together with a daughter.
>still believing this
inb4 you link me to a certain Youtube video
>had a scene written out for the ending with Satoshi and Kasumi being together with a daughter
Fuck off, retard. That rumor is on the same tier as Butterfree dying in Japan and Mew being under the truck.
The trailer played the third ending (which is about a mother and her little girl discussing Pokemon and how they long to return to childhood/grow up respectively) while Misty's voice actor talked about the movie being announced, so Misty and the singers were depicted in the animation for the trailer.
Yeah he fucking pokedexed a Koffing that he didn't saw in almost 640 episodes, also scanning it for his friends that didn't knew what it was. Also scanning it because every region's fucking dex gives different goddamn info every time it scans something and you people still don't realize this even when it happens every time you catch a Pokemon in the games.
When the fuck are they finally going to retire this show? I feel like there can only be one or two regions with left for them to make in the games before shit becomes even more rediculous than it already is, and then it will just be a never-ending stream of reboots. Are they just gonna send Satoshi back to Kanto or Hoenn to bugger around there for a while? Are kids in 2020 even gonna give a shit about pokemon?
>why is ash still in this shit!? It's been 15 years try something new for fucks sake!
>why isn't misty still in this shit!? Why are you changing what isn't broken?
I hate pokemon threads, I wish people would just talk about XY rather than being a retard over the differences to the old series. Serena best girl.
Pokemon games are still some of the best selling games in the entire world, anon. They're not going to retire the franchise because some faggot on the Internet that doesn't even follow it says it's grown stale.
>Are kids in 2020 even gonna give a shit about pokemon?
Yes because kids in 2020 didn't play the old games, if you aren't a child this show isn't meant for you. If you want to enjoy it you need to stop worrying about long term shit and enjoy the episodes.
Oh wonderful, some art I didn't have.
The Korrina vs Ash threads were nice, I must have missed the recent ones.
