>>124392873 I don't understand how anyone can hate this based sensei.
He tells the students "play with your section and practice the piece".The students don't do that at all and ask for sensei to listen to their shitty rendition of the song. He's not there to teach them how to play their instruments; he's there to teach them how to play together(and well).
>>124394133 Now that's a based sensei. That's basically what he really meant but of course, he had to be passive and use nice words otherwise he would get fired. Still, that facial expression was creepy as fuck.
>>124394288 He's a lazy fuck that doesn't teach them anything. Why can't he show the new member around, check how each group of instruments is doing every now and then, give them tips, etc. It's like a calculus professor just outright saying "ok kids, we'll have a test in 3 months, go learn from the internet or whatever, call me once you know everything and I'll congratulate you"
>>124394728 Because teens are stupid and easily manipulated if you put them on the spot in a group, anon. Come on, it's the easiest manipulation tactic in an adults arsenal. They even said in the episode afterwards that Adults don't play fair
>>124394621 >It's like a calculus professor No you fucking idiot.
He's like a supervisor for a weightlifting team that (per their own words) want to compete at a meet, so he agrees to mentor them, and when he asks the students to demonstrate their big 3 lifts, they look at him and say "Do you mean do 3 different kinds of curls?"
It's a student run club. He's more than happy to help fine tune their skills, but if they haven't even begin to learn the very basics and can't be fucked to try and learn them on their own (the level of basics that don't require hands on coaching) then they have no business wasting his time.
Seriously, expecting a bunch of fucking teenagers to be able to sort themselves out is idiotic. Even college students need some modicum of guidance, but this is just a bunch of sixteen and seventeen year old kids.
Useless tit, if I were board chair or superintendent I'd be having a long chat with him.
>>124396701 >Do you want to have fun, or are you going to go for gold? >Going for nationals? Ok, just don't pull the same shit as last year >You called me out here for this? Thanks asshole Being sensei is suffering.
>>124396737 >Isn't he their director and coach too. No.
>Seriously, expecting a bunch of fucking teenagers to be able to sort themselves out is idiotic. Even college students need some modicum of guidance, but this is just a bunch of sixteen and seventeen year old kids. Then you were just (and probably still are) an idiot. My friends and I formed a club during high school and organized everything, including planning trips, ourselves. The club advisers were just there as supervision and to sign off on shit that needed an adult.
>>124396777 Yup. He shouldn't have even given them the option to choose their own goal since most of the serious players left the year before and obviously never came back. What the fuck is up with the slackers wanting to aim for Nationals now?
And 'their own path' should have been out of the band and into the Going Home club since they'd rather dick around and lie about practicing. But it being a club and not like the school bands I know there isn't anything the other players can do about the slackers short of just not telling them when & where practice and events are.
>>124394728 Didn't Aoi even mention that it's just a group thing and people would obviously want to look like they're eager to work and do stuff?
Even if she didn't say anything about it, it's still really obvious why a group full of slackers with only a hand full or two people actually interested in playing would raise their hands in front of their teacher when asked if they want to work hard or slack off to have fun.
>all the hypocritical faggots voting for the nationals to make the other faggots think they aren't lazy assholes instead of being honest and voting for being lazy assholes >they proceed to be lazy assholes Reality at it finest. Good one KyoAni.
>>124398046 This is why Aoi was so awesome there. She was aware of the emotional blackmail. Kumiko was also good for not voting. The freshmen shouldn't even been allowed to vote but many of them did. Sensei was manipulating them to do what made him look good. Now how he is treating them will make a good band, but the seniors who never signed up for that, like Aoi, are getting screwed.
I wasn't even interested in this show until I happened upon a thread with the whiplash insults video. Now I'm constantly in the back of my mind waiting for the crushing reality to destroy all these wannabes. Usually the high schoolers in anime are mature, dedicated, talented, and show results with little effort so this is refreshing. I had no idea I wanted this. Kyo-ani found a way.
>>124398492 Remember that most of these kids are like Kumiko, she was just told in this episode by her sister to not play at home. School is the only place most of them can play any instrument. For the past several years the band was just a recreational group. Now they want to change to competition and doing it right when the seniors have entrance exams coming.
>>124399161 >Our band is shit, nearly all the second years left. To be honest we don't have an oportunity but I don't want to look like an asshole in front of the rest so I'll vote for the nationals but will do fucking nothing
>>124399161 This reminds me of my last job's training program. We couldn't secure a payroll for the coming year until a new director was hired, but was told that so long as we keep doing it, we're guaranteed a job. It involved tutoring fellow college peers, and he literally asked us, "But come on guys, we aren't here for the money right? We're doing this to help people out". I had to agree with him just so I don't look like an ass in front of everybody else, but that was so fucking bullshit.
>>124399594 >English illusionist, mentalist, trickster, hypnotist, painter, writer, and sceptic >shitty no one anywhere but britland He's passionate, autistic and honest about his music. No tricks were involved.
>>124399957 Except everything would've been fun, in fact they would compete since that's obligatory but they wouldn't be taking shit from sensei since they aren't aiming for the nationals. I can't understand why are you so paranoic over a cartoon and a person that has been portrayed as a good man, I'd agree with you if this was in the real world but this is the 2D-realm.
>>124400060 >Are you gonna answer everything with that Answer what, you fucking moron? You threw a baseless insult at me because I said that anyone with experience knows how lazy and infuriating the slackers are, and that they don't deserve any sort of sympathy. Why do you think that deserves some sort of well thought out response?
>>124400087 Sensei did everything right, 3d or 2d. I'm just saying, "having fun" wasn't really going to be fun at all.
>>124400106 If you don't have a drive or sense of team then no. These guys are spread wide. They're not doing it for fun, and they're not doing it for each other. They just don't want to quit something they've started.
>>124400087 What Sensei is doing IS a good way to assemble a winning band. There is no question about that. But this school has gone years with no competitive tradition. Its not what the remaining seniors and most of the juniors joined the club or even came to the school expecting two or three years ago. And now they are stuck. The vote was biased do to peer pressure and exploitation of the ignorance of the freshmen. And sensei knew that would happen, he has experience.
>>124399957 They're just a small time afterschool club, same tier as any embarrassing afterschool anime club or any other club you can think of. It's far from the same as an official school band program. It's like comparing a top-tier sports team to a recreational league.
>>124400229 That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
>>124400354 Are you going to continue to talk in circles and just make an ass out of yourself, or are you going to at least pretend to make a point? Slacking is great, and there's a time and place for it. A band club, or any other group activity that requires dedication and is likely to have people passionate about that activity is not the place. If you want to slack, make your own club or just go dick around with your friends after school on your own time. I did that too, and it was plenty of fun.
>>124400357 That's not the point. No matter how small you are, you want to see how you stack up against others. Nationals is the goal, and it's implied that doing your best is too. The results aren't relevant at all.
You also don't compete in an afterschool anime club, that's pretty much a going-home club.
I noticed your band is on the roster for the nationals auditions after school today. Why even bother, Omae? You don't have a chance. You're too much like your old man. No Omae ever amounted to anything in the history of Uji!
>>124400388 I dislike bait and switch. I dislike people changing the price of product after I am committed to buying it. I dislike noisy foreigners coming in and trashing where I have to live and work. That's whats happening to the upperclassmen. The Japanese exam system is enough of a challenge without dealing with a second competitive challenge at the same time.
>>124400498 But it's not. When the pressure to stand out and succeed isn't hidden behind anything (it was clear as fucking day) it's not some sort of underhanded trick. Literally all of the cards were on the table, and any decisions they made were by there own free will.
>>124400577 >normie The term is normalfag, you fucking newfag.
Who let this generation of retarded shitposters in?
>>124400694 They're a nobody club, the members aren't serious about it.
Why would you collectively raise your hand to aim for the nationals and then proceed to slack off? It's because they never really wanted it, that sneaky sensei pressured them into it with his silver tongue.
>>124400680 >he created also massively helped. He walked into the room, referenced last years failure and said "Ok, you guys can pick this time since last time was a mess. We can go for nationals, in which case I'll work you hard and you'll have to try. Or we can take it easy and relax."
You act like he dimmed the lights, used a seductive voice, slipped them all muscle relaxants, and gently whispered into their ears "Come one students, do you really want to just be a lazy worthless sack of shit? Wouldn't you much rather aspire to greatness? I know I'd respect you much more if your aimed for the stars."
>>124400438 Don't be an autist. People don't NEED to do any of those things though. Not every art student enters some art competition, not every writer tries to get published, think of all the kids who form garage bands then don't ever perform. That doesn't mean they're enjoying what they're doing, they don't need that level of goal or validation.
>>124400802 We were talking about school bands, not those things. What's the point of representing your school and going to competitions if you're not going to compete? You literally do not join a school band and expect to forever stay cooped in a band room.
>people actually think sensei is manipulating a bunch of kids into a unrecheable goal for his selfish reasons, which are non-existent nor there is anything indicating he wants to I'm starting to think that on this point this is just bait.
>>124400949 >writing on the chalkboard was more than enough to give a hint to the students that this is what they should do. They competed in the years before that you fucking idiot, it was already on everyone's mind. You seem to think that every word and action has an ulterior motive when it better supports your crackpot theories and lazy attitude.
>>124400869 I'm not implpying anything. All I'm saying is Sensei gave them a choice and they choose. Out of peer pressure? maybe, but that is not his fault. He was pretty clear that the Nationals wouldn't be an easy goal.
>>124400907 Do you seriously think there's not highschool sports teams who are mediocre, know they are mediocre and just go play matches for fun because they just want to have a good time with their friends? Your average teenager doesn't care about 'representing their school' or anything like that.
>>124401089 >Then why are the majority not serious about it? Because they're lazy and stupid? Like any group activity, you have people who have real passion, people who just want to fuck around, and people who just want to fuck around but want to pretend they're going to try. Those are the idiots who decided "Oh yeah, I totally want to achieve this goal, and I know it's hard, but I'm sure I can do it!" and then they spend all their free time shooting the shit in empty classrooms. Don't blame sensei for their laziness and stupidity. If they want to relax, that's fine, but don't say you're going to step up to the plate when you have no such intention.
>>124401195 But you said going for the nationals was all in their minds when they clearly don't care, had sensei said having fun first and then aim for the nationals the vote would have been completely different.
>>124401151 But you still go to competitions you shithead. I never said they cared about representing their school. You still practice together, learn together, and try to become better together. Even if you know you're mediocre and will stay mediocre, if you're in a team, then you practice. If you're in a team, your purpose is to go to competitions and compete. Sure, not everybody gives it their best, but the fact remains that the point of competitions is to give it your best. Sensei just wants them to give it their all with no bullshit, what don't you understand?
>>124400302 It could've also been that sensei knew the band wasn't cut out to compete at a national level and the whole chalkboard thing was an attempt to indirectly dissuade them without outright saying "you're all too shit, don't waste my time if you're not going to practice". He gave them a choice to focus on anything else that year, but they chose nationals while making a half assed effort.
>>124401253 >But you said going for the nationals was all in their minds when they clearly don't care The thought is on their minds due to previous years, and there are people who like the idea of winning but don't actually want to do work (like the "we totally practiced!" kid). What don't you understand about this?
>>124401417 Not the guy you're having an autistic conversation with, but there is evidence behind Sensei directing them down a certain path. That being said, he didn't "plant the idea of going to nats in their heads". Going to nationals was going to come up sooner or later, they did it before too. All Sensei did was force them to make a "decision" then and there, and he's going to hold them to it because he wants them to do their best.
>>124401923 The vote might have turned out differently, but no. Misdirection isn't that powerful. Peer pressure, expectations, and settings are all more powerful than simple misdirection like ordering of choices.
Bottom line is all these students are attending a school. There is a very false but just as strong a pretense that you attend school to better yourself and ensure your future. Under that sort of guideline, and the fact that school bands are meant to compete, there are a lot more factors than just order of choices or the chalkboard.
The bitter tryhard band rejects butthurt in these threads are hilarious, reminds me when I would fuck around with my percussion buddies and watch the bass babbies cry when no one cared about the performance, including the teacher.
>>124402358 kek In my country while on middle and elementary school every monday you have a kind of "general school assembly" ceremony to show honors to your country and shit. The thing is that you have to sing the national anthem and everytime I used to pretend singing it by only moving my lips. Good days.
>>124400763 Because it's an unofficial doujin and it got posted on /a/. Of course it'll obviously be porn.
But if you want a serious answer, its that thing you said. Plus the first panel having an obvious oral focus and the last panel having a dark ominous stranger approaching her without her seeming to notice.
>>124402452 Well high school bands typically have low expectations in competitions unless they have some competitive history. Usually nobody gives a fuck, so being a tryhard there's pretty pointless and hilarious. My school had a jazz band hand picked by the instructors for the tryhards.
>>124403208 Pretty much this >>124403342, although I wouldn't go as far as to say he was "playing dirty", I think he preasured the students to choose the Nationals because he believes in them. Little did he knew they would only waste his time.
