Why is Hei not edgy?
He's loaded with the trappings associated with edginess.
>Kills people without expression
>Nice guy persona
>Losing all his loved ones
Even the first OP looks like a typical edgy music video.
What is so different between Hei and other edgy characters that makes all the usual features of an edgy character not have the same effect on Hei?
It's because in unlike other contractors, he has emotions.
The series is filled with edgy emotionless killers, but they have a reason for why they act that way.
When we first meet Hei, we expect him to act equally edgy, but are surprised when he acts more human.
>world is filled with emotionless killers with superpowers and emotionless fuckdolls with superpowers
>MC is apparently an emotionless killer with superpowers
>plot twist, he actually isn't and has feelings
he is actually reverse-edgy or an edgy trap
>and he's actually really nice.
He's a murderer who tortured a woman and hit a child in the course of the show. It's probably a testament to his character that he comes off as sympathetic when all things considered, he is kind of a dick.
Hei IS edgy though, this whole anime isfilled to the brim with edginess actually.
Take for example the rain, there's so much rain in this anime it feels like I'm cutting myself just by watching it. It's disgusting really.
The series is about Hei, his edginess and all but at the same time, it isn't a story about how do you must feel about Hei.
It's just that, his life; and you like it or not, but you can't really try to understand so deeply what is going on and that's fairly great.
Also, him being an adult makes things so much better without the whole teen-drama that often appears. He's a dude that makes his own decisions, and does what he has.
Because he is setup to be the one who isn't edgy compared to everyone else.
Even then, you still empathize with a lot of the contractors.
Like the big fat singing lady, or astronomy dude.
What's wrong with his 'edginess' anyways? It works for his character and he has more background than just 'i kill people because i want to'. He also obviously has emotions for all the women in his life.
He just does what's asked of him. Yeah, being an assassin is edgy, but does that mean that you can never write an assassin character ever again?
No, I'm the faggot you're talking about. I just pointed out that I wanted it to come as close to the original as possible.
Also, my Mspaint skills aren't good enough to make cool-looking red eyes like this
Although Hannibal and most Clive Baker movies are actually really good, no one can deny that their subject basis and the way they handle themes is pretty fucking juvenile.
>he's a murderer
I don't see what that has to do with whether he's nice. It's his job.
>tortured a woman
He tortured a psychopath and then tried to save her life.
>hit a child
I don't remember this happening in Darker than Black: The Black Contractor. Were you maybe reading fanfiction?
I just realised that you may have meant the Hannibal movies, which I have not seen since I was about 14, I'm talking about the new reboot TV show.
And no, horror isn't juvenile, but glorifying murderers, an overly cynical worldview and theconcept of revenge, is.
The day has come when someone who doesn't know what "edgy" means is asking if Junji Ito is edgy.
I know this shitposting's always been around, but it seems worse the last month or so.
I don't see how the show is glorifying anything.
Almost every murderer is shown as a disgusting monster and Graham is pretty much a pathetic wreck.
Hannibal may be too perfect but that only makes him scarier as opposed to real-life serial killers people got used to over the ages.
I don't see it. It exists to help to maintain the atmosphere of hopelessness but I don't see how it's "glorified"
It's shit through and through. I can't name a single redeeming quality outside of the designs.
The only reason I picked that garbage show is a doll, and she didn't even get enough screentime
I'd keep it there if I went there. Do you honest to goodness believe that shounenshit, moeshit, yurishit, shoujoshit, yaoishit are terms unused by /a/nons? Are you going to blame a boogeyman instead?
Ah, you're new, I see, it explains a lot
