For all the shit you guys gave DEEN about the 2006 version, can you honestly say this shit is any better?
>Eyes are too far apart
>Either her right arm is too short or her head is too large, take your pic
>The shading is terrible even compared to the first half of UBW.
Even the animators at uftotable are getting sick of doing FSN, or at least UBW.
> can you honestly say this shit is any better?
Yes, it is. Rin still makes me cringe every time I see her, but the overall quality of this adaptation is just incomparable to that made by DEEN.
UBW is subdued, but has flexible leitmotifs all over the place which gives it a lot of tone-setting power.
Caster's creepy theme going all peaceful and sad as she faded was pretty cooland those Emiya teasers are going to drive me insane if we don't get it in its full glory at Ryuudou Temple.
Archer's summoning scene had the first few lines remixed, and they've thrown bits of that in every time he does something serious.
UFOtable knows what the fuck they're doing, so I'm content to wait for it in due time.
It's Shirou's climactic theme anyway so it seems a waste to use its full form for Archer.
Lancelot who for who is....for all intents and purposes, the ultimate Knight, gets shit on by everyone doesn't he?
>.for all intents and purposes, the ultimate Knight
>the ultimate Knight
Hey there anon you posted the wrong pic with your post. Fear not, your friends at /a/ will help you fix it by posting the correct one.
How about this girl?
Tsukihime/Melty Aoko > shit > Mahoyo 1
You know, say what you want about Rin's face, but I sure as fuck have a lot reaction images from her due to this anime.
I've lost count of how many times I've lost it over Rin's reactions. The one you posted had me in stitches for a full minute, sasuga Lancer
Someone explain to me why they didn't just use Fate/zero's character designer...
- Tomonori Sudo (Garden of Sinners, Fate/Zero) is responsible for the main characters again: Shiro, Saber, Illya, and Sakura.
- Atsushi Ikariya (Fate/Zero) is once again handling the older male characters like he did in Fate/Zero: Berserker, Lancer, and the other fuckers in the Mato family.
- Hisayuki Tabata (Yuyushiki) is new to this team, but he is responsible for the sexier female designs: Rin and Rider, as well as the various supporting female characters.
If humans don't stand a chance against heroic spirits then how did a high school teacher fuck up Saber?
How did Rin manage to kick Caster around?
Shirou parried most of Rider's attacks before he learned how to trace
Fate/Zero can be enjoyed standalone. People will tell you that you'd get more enjoyment out of it if you read the FSN visual novel (which is true), but it's really not necessary.
>If humans don't stand a chance against heroic spirits
Humans do stand a chance against Heroic Spirits, it's just they've got to be exceptional humans, and even then it's hard as fuck.
The most recent version allows you to switch between sex scenes, and censored alternatives.
Of course, otherwise you'd miss some of the best liens in literary history
>The shading is terrible
As opposite to DEEN's? They couldn't even get the coloring right. Even in their official artwork it was fucked up. Their tanned Rin with grayish hair was vomit inducing. Ufo is pretty decent, specially in episodes they don't follow Tabata model
Regarding the anime series:
Fate/stay night is standalone but not that good.
Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works is not standalone and not good either.
Fate/Zero is standalone but pretty good, so start with that
You don't need to read Fate/stay night to understand Fate/Zero. It was designed to be a standalone work, even though it's a prequel. Go with whatever you want, the fans here are autistic about this shit as you can see, comparing it to fucking Star Wars.
Well this thread went back into Bait City fast.
We had a thread earlier discussing how impressive and exciting a recent scene was. The /a/utists here had to slam it down and talk about how shitty it was. It's always the same couple guys, too.
Anime-only secondary spotted
And regardless of what Butch or Aoki may say the fact that they didn't explain or glossed over so many things, particularly towards the end and even more particularly in the anime makes it a terrible stand-alone work.
As stated above you can watch Fate/Zero first. I would like to mention that Fate/Stay Night came out first and Fate/Zero was "meant" to be watch afterwards since it contains spoilers for Fate/Stay Night. It's whatever you want to do in the end. If you want to do something fun, check out Fate/Extra on PSP.
It doesn't really matter except for HF, which most people will recommend you read the 18+ version. So it's probably best you get the version that lets you switch between 18+ and all ages content if you've got something against sex scenes.
There's not really that much sex in it though. The game is like 70 hours long and there's only 6 sex scenes total, I think. If you read it for sex scenes you'll be massively blue balled, since the first one is like 15 hours deep into the first route and catches you completely by surprise, since by then you'll have forgotten it was an eroge.
It's exceptionally well made, so of course people have to tear it down to prove how cool they are. Aside from the contrarions you also have a lot of butthurt zerofag secondaries who continually shitpost in all UBW threads.
The biggest problem with the fandom is its total insulation, regardless. Everybody discusses the same thing over and over again and nobody encourages new blood. It's disgusting.
I always chuckle when I see autists trying to make Nasu's VNs seem more special than they really are. Because making a harem of cliche archetypes, plastering them with tragic backstories and having the MC do some edgy shit is somehow amazing writing.
I remember a year back when i wanted to get into fate and asked /a/ where to start because the series aring now just got announced.
I basically got told to go fuck myself and lurk more and all of you faggot are just putting the spoon into his mouth.
Chirst this what an anime adaptation does to it fanbase
>ever since the F/Z novel came out the standard response to secondaries asking where to start has been "go play the VN".
Welcome, new-friend. Give it time, and it won't be fun anymore.
You know KnK6 and the changes made to it was a collaborative thing, right? And Miura has proved be competent. Those Vita OPs everyone loves? Him.
Seriously, people need to give that shit a rest.
>watched the original anime, it's shit
>lol, anime is shit the original VN is superior
>Fate route fan translated, it's mediocre
>lol fate route is the worst, UBW is the shit Archer is fucking GAR
>UBW is translated, it's "okay" but still a lot of shit
>bro you should see Heaven's feel, it's the best route where shit truly goes down
>HF is translated, it's boring as fuck
>bro, Fate/Stay Night is shit you, Fate Zero is where it's at, it's a prequel about the war before F/SN, it's everything awesome about the original and there is no high school shit
>typical awfully written Japanese anime light novel
>oh well, it's getting an anime adaptation, might check that out.
>it's okay, but overall a letdown, much hype little delivery.
>you should check out all these spinoffs, they are awesome as fuck
people who lurk and post in these threads have autism and love eating shit
It's pretty terrible. Most pure VNs are. Unless you're really into waifus, all you're going to get is incredibly shitty writing, a terrible translation, and some ok sex scenes. But the ok sex scenes aren't worth the fucking 90 hours of pointless text between them. Fate could have been like 10-20 hours, but the author was retarded and though length == mature and adult writing, so everything is padded to hell and back. It takes incredibly long to say or do the simplest things.
Don't bother with Fate/Stay Night. Watch Zero and the recent Stay Night anime if you find the idea interesting (although the SN anime is still pretty boring. It's hard to fix this source material), but good lord is the VN bad.
I watched fate/zero on netflix for the hell of it. Should I just stop at that and not fuck with the rest of the series? The only reason I liked fate/zero was for the weird combination of magic and 90's setting.
>it's a common opinion that they're good
Nasu H-scenes are almost as bad as Key H-scenes.
It has been a very long time since I played the original VN, but I really don't remember Shirou being this fucking annoying. Its like they've taking every bad shounen cliche and forced it on the dude. A lot of character development Shirou gets is being lost because of the lack of inner dialogue from the VN and a lot of little changes here and there. I can't remember too much, but I remember Shirou being a lot smarter and a little bit cocky-almost like a mini-Archer. I think a lot of the problem with this show stems from both missing and/or changed dialogue from the VN and the fact that UBW relies heavily upon prior knowledge of the Saber route. It's really altering the way some of the characters like Tohsaka and Shirou come off.
If you ignore the Fate/Stay Night part of the show and just look at it as generic shounen action then it works and its "ok". However as an entry in the Fate series this shit sucks.
I may catch shit for this but I believe, as far as Fate/Stay night is concerned, that the DEEN adaptation is a better "Fate/SN show" simply because there was more inner dialogue going on and better characterization. DEEN Shirou wasn't as fucking annoying till like midway through. The UBW-TV series however is a better action show/animation porn which makes it more watchable. In my opinion though it fails as an entry in the franchise if that makes any sense. Both are a shit sandwich though in comparison to what little I remember of the VN make no mistake.
Both are shit Illya included, Sakura is were it as at gaylords.
I love Saber, but Rin is just better.
Saber and Rin are the two good girls. Sakura... was really bad in the VN but maybe Ufotable will redeem her.
Ultimately, Saber's route can really only tell her story-- Saber is a non sequitur to Shirou. Rin is connected with his past, present, and future. While Saber and Sakura use their routes to tell their own stories, Rin's route is about Shirou's present, past, and future.
She's the main girl of the series.
Saber is a wonderful girl, but she's also never realistically able to be a part of Shirou's life.
She's great, but Rin is the chosen one.
To the OP, you're completely obnoxious. Yes. Easily. I don't care about your random analysis of frames. Compare several action sequences. The overall direction. Pacing. Execution of joke bits. Portrayals of Taiga-- like really dude, it's not even close.
